《From now on, I'll take care of you, my little Y/n...》
You couldn't forget those words.
Your uncle had reassured you as he held you in his arms for the first time. Although your life had taken an unexpected path, you had believed that, if you had started from zero, the suffering would have vanished.
For ten long years, it had been so...
You lost your father at the age of three; he had died away from home on a mission leaving you and your mother alone. That day, you had seen her read a letter from the Navy announcing his disappearance; her hands trembled and you began to feel the first sobs.
Worried, you had grabbed her long pink skirt.
《Mommy...》 She raised her head to the sound of your little voice; she turned to you as she lowered herself to your height.
《Honey...I have to tell you something...》 Her eyes had turned red but, as soon as she had your face in front of her, she did everything possible to stop herself.
《Dad...》 She didn't know how to tell you and not do it, it would have been unfair and unforgivable. Your cheeks were wet with tears, at the sound of those cursed words.
《Dad is gone.》
You didn't know him much; he spent little time at home, since he was a captain of the Navy, but when he could he would pick you up and play with you, giving you one of his wonderful smiles; that was exactly what he had left you.
The few inhabitants of the island where you lived were saddened by your loss, but couldn't understand your mother's behavior; despite becoming a widow, she didn't want to miss any happy moments with you. You didn't pay attention to those things and, every time you left the house to play on the hill, you greeted your father on the family photo, with a big smile.
Your mother tried to always be present for you by teaching you everything you didn't know, because you weren't an ordinary child; great power was hidden within you and would manifest itself through your clear e/c eyes. A rare and desired gift at the same time, therefore it had to be protected.
For the next three years, your childhood seemed to proceed peacefully, until fate came in and, again, took away what you loved most.
One day, a fleet of ships had landed on your small island and, without a reason, began to plunder it; those who succeeded, fled over the hills, not to be captured or killed. It wasn't long before they even got to your house. Before that, your mother accompanied you to the back door. As if she didn't want to lose you, her hands were holding yours tightly.
《Listen to me well Y/n. You have to run as far and as fast as you can to a hiding place. Promise me you won't go back...》
《I'm scared! Please, stay with me mom! I don't want to go alone!》 She wrapped you in her warm arms, while caressing your golden curls.
《You will be in danger if I stay with you! The only thing I can do and distract them, to let you get away...I love you, darling.》 After that, she left you out.
From the window, you had seen a group of men destroy the interior of the house until they found your mother. She tried in every way to react, but one of them stopped her and stabbed her with a sword; a heartbreaking cry was ready to come out, but you tried in every way to hold it back.
The following scenario was gruesome; they tore her clothes to abuse her body. Inside you, you felt yourself bursting; you were helpless and unable to react, even to run away.
The destruction ended after a few minutes, when everyone decided to leave; you wanted to come back to find out if she was okay, but her body showed no sign of life.
At that point, a fire spread that forced you to move away from the house.
You stayed there, watching your house burn; the tears prevailed over your self-control and you collapsed on the ground, hidden by the tall grass of the lawn.
Present
Some noises woke you from the nightmare you were reliving.
In addition to the sound of glass shards and overturned tables, the shouts and applause of the crowd added.
You decided to open your eyes, finally.
《What the hell is going on...》 You thought to yourself; your face was completely crushed on top of the bartender's wood. Your right hand was still holding the empty glass. You stood up straight on the stool; luckily, your black sunglasses had remained fixed above your nose.
You had decided to enter that place to let yourself go in your thoughts and because, from the outside, it seemed a quiet place. You were alone, that evening; a few hours before the ship, on which you were traveling, arrived in the bay of this small island, a meeting place for sailors and fishermen.
After taking a seat at the counter, you ordered something to drink; apart from a few groups of old men playing cards and with the beer bottle attached to their mouths, it wasn't very crowded.
You were tired. The trip to the last island hadn't gone very well, but you couldn't afford further travel. There was little money and the idea of stealing bored you a lot; now that you were in a new port, you had thought of spending them for the night.
Anyway, any place could go rather than go back to Dressrosa.
The recent discovery had shaken you and you couldn't get it out of your head.
A Donquixote pirate officer, Corazón, had been shot to death after betraying the "family", particularly the trust of his brother Joker.
But those names were only a cover and you had discovered who they really were; Joker was Donquixote Doflamingo, current king of Dressrosa and one of the Royal Seven Warlords of the sea, as well as your uncle...the other was Donquixote Rosinante, your father.
It was the third glass you threw down when you closed your eyes hoping for a better awakening.
《Give me my money back, asshole!》 One started screaming.
《Accept defeat, loser!》 Replied the other.
《I'll show you who the loser is!》 They started throwing chairs and bottles and destroying the place under the helpless eyes of the owner...for once, you had nothing to do with it.
They were arguing over a bag of coins resting right on one side of the table; in the midst of that confusion, no one was paying attention...apart from you.
After taking the loot and hiding inside the jacket, you left the inn in the blink of an eye; you could still hear people screaming inside and you couldn't help laughing at their shrewdness, until an adult female voice shouted in front of the entrance interrupting the fight.
《Are you blind?! That guy stole the winnings! Chase him!》 You turned to notice a group of angry men in front of you.
《Crap...!》 They ran towards you and you did the same, but in the opposite direction.
The chase lasted throughout the port and you tried to slow them down with whatever object happened to you at hand; you came to the pier and there, the race ended.
《It's over brat! You'd better give us back the money, if you don't want it to end badly for you...come on!》 Meanwhile, the sound of a merchant ship had caught your attention, while pulling its crates on the pier with a huge hook; without thinking too much, you threw yourself towards them grabbing the ropes that held them, remaining suspended on the water.
Since the bridge had already been removed, they had no choice but to imitate you, but they had no luck; their eyes widened as soon as they saw you with a gun in your hand, pointed at them.
《Sorry guys, but I'm just a brat...》 You said with a grin; at that moment, they realized you were a girl. You aimed at the hook that carried them and, with a single blow, you made them fall into the sea, together with the crates.
On the ship, the crew had gathered on the bridge to understand what had happened; because distracted by the men below them, they didn't notice your presence.
The ship had sailed and you couldn't go back, so you decided to hide in the hold with supplies, waiting for the next berth.

Several hours passed and you, of course, had fallen asleep on top of huge sacks of flour; the daylight filtered through the windows. It was morning now.
More rested, but definitely more hungry than before, you got up to open some crates, looking for food. You were shocked by the content...a sweetish smell began to spread throughout the hold and was truly unbearable.
《What kind of stuff are they carrying?》
Fortunately, you managed to find baskets full of fresh fruit and had breakfast with them.
You didn't come out into the open until the ship stopped; you didn't know the destination of the ship, but it must have been one of the many trading areas, since the goods in transport weren't exactly healthy...or, whoever ordered this stuff was short of sweets, perhaps.
You didn't care, anyway. Another half hour passed before you heard the crew move above you to prepare for the arrival.
When it stopped, the trapdoor of the hold was opened and in order not to be discovered, you entered a crate full of cereals. The unloading was slow, but your crate arrived safely on the dock.
It was a good time to get out, until you got back on the move, on a truck this time. You lifted the lid to find out where you were.
The excess of light and colors around you made you narrow your eyes.
《W-what is this place...》 You thought; the truck was following a dirt road and around you there were...giant cakes??? Those houses looked just like sweets! With lots of cream, icing and other stuff...
Of course, you already knew the extravagant aspect of Dressrosa, but you had never seen such a thing...not to mention the people (if they could be called that) with sumptuous and colorful clothes.
After leaving that weird city behind, you found yourself in a forest; there was something wrong there too...you felt observed, as if someone were spying on you secretly, even though nobody was there.
You looked away, to admire the lawn made of lollipops and chocolate. At the end of the woods, the truck took a long climb and, when it reached the top, it began to slow down; a very high wall stood before you, with a double door of the same size in the center.
Right from there, a face materialized and it started talking to the owner of the vehicle. In the meantime, you locked yourself in the chest.
Its voice was truly bizarre, while joking with the other; a few minutes later, it decided to split in two to let you in.
You peered carefully at the outside; you stood open-mouthed in front of that imposing pink castle.
The situation was becoming serious; you should have gone out when you had the chance, in order not to get into some trouble. You stood still, hearing someone's footsteps. 《The truck has arrived! Unload, come on!》 You regret not being left in that hold.
《Hey! There are some cereals over there! Her orders have been clear...any cargo within Tottoland's borders must be intact!》 It was clearly your doing; you hadn't noticed the cereal you lost every time you moved in and out of the box.
Suddenly, someone pushed the crate down and your head hit the lid, which flew away.
《But what?!》 The eyes of those present were all focused on you, still wedged between the beans.
《H-hello.》 It was the only thing that came to your mind in that embarrassing situation. You tried to stand up, but some individuals who looked like soldiers came up to you and, without warning, grabbed both of your arms.
《O-ohi! If it's for that gram of corn lost, I'm very sorry! It wasn't my intention...》 You thought the problem was the loss of the load, but you were interrupted by one of the two soldiers.
《You are under arrest for transgressing the laws of Whole Cake Island...but first, you will be brought before our Queen!》 You didn't have time to reply, that you were brought to the entrance of the palace.
《All of this is absurd! I haven't done anything wrong! (except for the clandestine voyage on the ship) You cannot condemn a person for some beans! Let me go!》 You struggled to free yourself from the grip of the two soldiers, who looked like two huge biscuits; being taller than you, they held you in midair to stop you from moving.
Before entering, your gaze rose upwards and, above the door, you noticed a skull with pink lips and a hat, surrounded by further details; even if you've never seen it before, you had no doubt that it was a pirate's crest.
You stopped in the heart of a large guest room; at the bottom, there were large stairways that gave access to the upper floors, but it wasn't from there that the Queen showed herself, but from the corridor in the middle that was in front of you.
It was difficult to call her a human being; almost nine meters tall, a gigantic woman continued slowly emitting a sinister laugh. Her hair was pink and unkempt, she wore a dress of the same color with polka dots. Her plump fingers were studded with jewels and were closed in a fist. She looked down, to stare at you; her appearance was terrifying. The hat (pink) she wore on her head made you realize that she was not a simple pirate.
Her mouth widened, until it formed a monstrous smile. You swallowed; it wouldn't take long to lift a foot and crush you like an ant.
《WHAT DO WE HAVE?!》 She said in a loud, croaking voice.
《She was inside a crate containing cereal, my lady. Because of this, we have lost part of the load...》 One of the cookie-soldiers replied; her smile faded as she looked at you with a grim expression.
《I traveled on one of your ships, but nobody knew I was there and I decided to stay hidden, until the right time. It wasn't my intention to slip into a crate, but it was the only way not to create chaos at the port...I ask forgiveness, if for some reason I involuntarily caused damage to you.》 There was a deafening silence; you feared you didn't use words well, until you got an answer.
《TAKE OFF YOUR GLASSES! SHOW ME YOUR FACE...I DON'T ACCEPT THAT A LITTLE BRAT LIKE YOU DISRESPECT ME IN THIS WAY!》 It seemed she had completely ignored your speech; you had no choice but to do as she ordered you by taking off your black sunglasses.
《MAMAMAMA WHAT INTERESTING EYES! AND HOW THEY SHINE! WHERE YOU COME FROM, GIRL?》 She took interest in your e/c eyes like everyone else, but at least she was no longer angry about that misunderstanding.
《From an island nearby. I was refueling when I ran into a problem that forced me to flee. That's why I'm here...》 She was smiling like a stupid, in front of your serious and composed gaze.
《NOW THAT I LOOK AT YOU BETTER, YOUR FACE IS FAMILIAR TO ME! ISN'T THAT YOU'RE UNPARENTED WITH A ROYAL SEVEN WARLORDS?》 You had to respond quickly, in order not to create suspicions.
《I don't know that. Why are you asking me this?》
《YOU'RE A DONQUIXOTE, AREN'T YOU?》 You bleached; the woman pirate's smile grew more pronounced.
《DON'T TRY TO LIE ME. YOU'RE THE DOFLAMINGO'S DAUGHTER!》 At those words, you looked at her with eyes full of anger. You felt a strange energy inside you that completely enveloped you.
《I'd rather die than be the daughter of that monster! However, I am his niece...with all due respect, my story doesn't concern you and since you didn't take it for what happened, I would say that it's time to leave.》 You were about to open the door, when you stopped.
《I DON'T BELIEVE IT, AFTER YOU HAVE HEARD MY PROPOSAL, MAMAMAMA!》 You were beginning not to put up with her laughter.
《What proposal should you ever make to someone you don't even know the name?》 At that point, it was thrown a wanted poster with your face on the ground.
《STILL BELIEVE I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE, DONQUIXOTE Y/N?!》 You had no choice but to listen to her.
《What do you want from me? My head, right?》 The floor shook as soon as she stepped towards you.
《I'M NOT SO WICKED, MAMAMAMA! YOU'RE A PRECIOUS GIRL TO ELIMINATE YOU, OR TO BRING YOU BACK TO YOUR HOME IN DRESSROSA!》
《I don't want to have anything to do with that family anymore...except for the surname.》 Somehow, it still tied you to your father.
《OH, IT WON'T LONGER BE NECESSARY ONCE MARRIED!》
《...I'm not married...》 You just said; you didn't understand why she said that.
《NOT YET! IN FACT, YOU WILL BE PROMISED TO ONE OF MY CHILDREN, MAMAMAMAMA!》
《W-w-what?! What are you talking about?!》 You couldn't believe your ears; that woman was proposing you an arranged marriage.
《MARRY MY FAVORITE SON AND, IN EXCHANGE, YOU CAN LIVE FREELY IN THE BORDERS OF TOTTOLAND! NO PIRATE WILL BE ABLE TO HUNT YOU, INCLUDING YOUR DEAR FAMILY! THIS IS MY PROPOSAL FOR YOU! YOU HAVE NO CHOICE, OBVIOUSLY, MAMAMAMA!》 It was pure madness! How could you marry a stranger and at the same time be free?
《Who the hell are you?》 Your gun was already loaded, but luckily you hadn't pulled it out against her.
《YOUR IMPUDENCE EXCEEDS ALL LIMITS, GIRL!》 Her strength was unmatched, her authority was supreme. No pirate would dare go against her and her name was known in all seas...
Big Mom, one of the Four Emperors.
You had heard of her when you were in Dressrosa, but you would never have imagined a face to face with her. For a moment, you regretted being rude to her.
She was plotting something, otherwise why would she keep you alive, even after invading her territory?
Too many wrong choices you had already made in your life. You felt that you were about to take a delicate step, which would have irreparably made you fall into a bottomless abyss, from which you couldn't go back.
Was there a choice, anyway?
You sighed for a moment before announcing your final answer.
《I accept your offer, Big Mom.》
《MAMAMAMA VERY GOOD, DEAR!》 Her mood seemed to skyrocket, so she opened her arms to scream at the top of her voice.
《WELCOME TO WHOLE CAKE ISLAND!》
