With the small bouquet of the cute daisies, dangling their heads back and forth in his hands, Yeosang walks quietly next to Seonghwa. No matter what will happen tonight, he just hopes it will give him some kind of closure - and it is with that thought, he stays by Seonghwa's side, as they walk down the street.
But when he looks up at the stars in the night's sky, he dares to hope that closure won't be needed. Despite everything that happened, despite the words that have been exchanged prior to tonight - the tears, the hurt and everything else, he makes a wish of just one last chance.
In his heart he knows it's silly, and that maybe Seonghwa was right - they can't just go back to what they used to be, but with the sweet gesture the older has made, hope is hard to keep down.
He follows Seonghwa into one of the bigger 7/11's, one of those where there's a seating area to enjoy a quick meal on the go. They walk down the rows of snacks and instant noodles, and the older's eyes lighten up as his hand reaches out for one particular package of noodles.
"Oh my God, I haven't had these in years!" he says with the brightest smile. "The Neoguri ramyun! Ah, I always ate them when studying for finals!"
"Yeah, I re-... Yeah, me too," Yeosang says with a small chuckle, as he quickly corrects himself.
Seonghwa looks over, and his cheeks blush up in the cutest way. At first Yeosang found the older's little idea a bit strange, but now he can't deny that he quite enjoys it. It's adorable and soft, and seemingly what both of them need to be able to move forward - either together or separately.
All this time he has thought Seonghwa hated him, but tonight he sees something in the brown eyes - something he has been longing to see again, ever since their goodbye in Hyochang Park.
"I... I remember how my room would always stink after eating this... But it's a good memory nonetheless..." Seonghwa then says, looking back at the package in his hands.
To everyone else he probably looks like a weirdo - standing there, staring all emotionally at some instant noodles, with a silly smile on his face. But to Yeosang it's the best thing he's ever seen, and is taken right back to Seonghwa's dorm room where the air would be damp and smell like sea food for hours, after they had finished eating.
"We should get that," Yeosang says, nudging his arm against Seonghwa's elbow. "And some boiled eggs too."
Seonghwa nods with excitement, and he grabs two packs of the noodles before heading towards the refrigerated counter.
"Well, dinner's on me tonight," he says when looking over his shoulder. "So please go take a seat, and I'll take care of this."
While Seonghwa walks up to the counter to pay, Yeosang sit down on one of the green chairs in the corner. His heart is beating so fast, while he just stares at Seonghwa who proceeds to heat up the food at the small kitchen station by the wall. Everything feels so unreal, like a beautiful dream- and Yeosang hopes he will never wake up from it.
"Here you go, dinner is served," Seonghwa smiles as he places the first bowl on the table, the steam is rising in the air and spreading the lovely smell that takes Yeosang back in time.
When both of them are sitting down and eating their food, Yeosang starts to feel a little nervous again. With his foot tapping against the floor, he clears his throat and makes his best attempt of pretending this is a real first date.
"So... Tell me about yourself?" he asks, and he chuckles at his own question.
But at the same time he knows there's a lot he doesn't know about Seonghwa anymore - and the other way around as well. In that sense it actually does feel like a real date.
"Well..." Seonghwa frowns a little, while stirring his chopsticks around in his food. "Hopefully I won't scare you away already. But I am recently divorced, and I... I have daughter, but she lives with her mother. I also changed job a few months ago. You already know I now work with Yuna at Shinhan Financial Group, and that is probably the most boring job in the world..."
Their eyes meet now and then, while Seonghwa speaks, and it causes both of them to smile shyly at each other, with equally blushing cheeks.
"What about you?" the older then asks.
"Oh I... I'm not that interesting, to be honest," Yeosang mumbles. "I work at a Kindergarten, but I'm going back to school to finish my master degree next year. I live with two of my friends, who are super loud and annoying, but I still love them."
The conversation carries on, with such a natural flow that no one would believe that the two of them had had any fall outs at all.
They end up staying at the convenience store for so long that the guy behind the register starts sending them annoyed looks, but they don't really care. Time flies by, and soon hours have passed while they've just kept on talking. But there's one particular thing that is beginning to fill Yeosang's mind - the longing for Seonghwa's lips pressed against his own.
He has to look away several times, shaking his head at his own thoughts, and turning the conversation into the most boring thing he can think of, to clear his mind. But little does it help. Seonghwa just looks too good tonight, and all the memories of them being together is wrapping themselves tightly around Yeosang. On top of that, they have shared a few bottles of Soju and a couple of beers too, and Yeosang is starting to fear for his own behavior as the alcohol is starting to set in.
When they finally decide to leave, it's quite late. Yeosang sighs, as he knows the last metro has left, and the wait for the night bus will take forever - and he has to get into the whole struggle of getting a cab to get home. The wind outside is freezing, and he only now realizes that he's forgotten his scarf at home - being too anxious about his date to remember it. He tries to pull the collar of his jacket closer together, while he shudders from the cold. His head is spinning a little, and should definitely get home soon, before he does something he might end up regretting.
"Here," Seonghwa suddenly says, as he wraps his scarf around Yeosang's neck.
Seonghwa's fingers gently stroke Yeosang's skin, as he puts the scarf on him, and Yeosang's cheeks blush up within a second.
"Thanks, but what about you?" he mumbles as he takes a step backwards. He appreciates the gesture, but the sudden touch is causing him to feel even more dizzy than before.
"It's okay, don't worry," Seonghwa smiles.
They slowly begin to walk down the street, side by side, and Yeosang truly wonders what will happen next. He knows what he wants, in the deep dirty mind of his - but it is something that probably shouldn't happen, and Seonghwa might not even feel the same way either.
"I had a really nice time tonight, thank you," Yeosang hums quietly.
"Likewise..." Seonghwa replies, before he turns his head slightly. "So... Should we get you a cab, or?"
Yeosang might just be hearing things, or maybe he's too drunk already - but he swears there's something in Seonghwa's voice that indicates that he doesn't want Yeosang to leave yet.
And suddenly, there is something inside of Yeosang that just explodes - and it causes him to do the one thing he has been wanting to do all night. He grabs Seonghwa by the hand, and drags him into a small ally, and as soon as they are hidden in the darkness he pushes the older against the wall.
Their lips meet only seconds later, and the soft and familiar feeling makes even Yeosang's freezing feet heat up. His arms are wrapped tightly around Seonghwa's neck, and the kiss slowly starts to get deeper. The feeling of Seonghwa's tongue around his own, is even better than any of the other times it has happened, and Yeosang feels like he could fly away on that feeling alone.
"Yeosang..." Seonghwa whispers, as the kiss ends.
The tone in his voice, makes Yeosang turn away. He fucked up. But he had to do it, he had to at least try. His action has pulled them right back to the reality of what they are, and what they aren't anymore.
"I know... You can't do this... It's okay," he lowly whispers back, before turning away to just about walk away. But he suddenly feels Seonghwa's hand grab his sleeve, and it makes him stop instantly.
"You're right," the older says. "I can't do this... Because... I won't survive losing you again."
Seonghwa's voice is getting raspy, and when Yeosang turns to look at him, tears are glistening in the older's brown eyes - they are hard to see, with only the lights from the streets trying to get into the ally, but they are definitely there. Both of them take a step towards each other at the same time, and soon Yeosang is back in Seonghwa's warm embrace.
"Then..." Yeosang whispers, while looking deeply into Seonghwa's eyes. "Don't let go of me this time."
Their lips meet again, but this time it is Seonghwa who is pushing Yeosang against the wall. The kiss is different than before, more needy and desperate - and it clearly shows what both of them are longing for in this very moment.
Yeosang makes a small whine, when the touch of Seonghwa's lips disappears once more, but Seonghwa quickly pulls him into his arms and hold him tight.
"Do you still need that cab?" Seonghwa chuckles into his hair. "Otherwise, I live pretty close..."
"Well, I'm not usually a guy who spends the night with someone on the first date?" Yeosang replies jokingly, and Seonghwa's chest is gently bouncing while he tries to hold back a laugh.
"Really?" Seonghwa then asks, letting go of a short snicker, as he gently places his hand under Yeosang's cheek and pushes his head upwards. Their eyes meet, and Seonghwa smirks when he leans down to whisper in Yeosang's ear. "You don't think I can make you feel good, Yeosang?"
