Satisfied with my look in the mirror I grabbed my lipgloss and put a reasonable amount on my lips, smacking it in the process.
I stared at my reflection again satisfied with how my uniform hugged my perfect figure and how my face displayed the stern bitchy look.
Its the third day of school already and I'm already exhausted, like who invented school anyways.
My mind drifted to the epic moment me and Derrick had at the walls of the boy's bathroom. I knew my plan would work, he can't stay angry at me for that long.
He took longer than he would to apologize and that's so not like him. I suspect that pathetic new girl already had him in her claws, I hate the attention she got just by coming on the first day and how boys talked about her being pretty.
I am the one who gets the attention and praises from boys, not her!
I am way more prettier than her and I got curves more than her, so what makes boys ogle at her that I don't have?
She doesn't sleep with dozens of boys still claiming to be in a relationship with a boy. My subconscious chided.
I mentally rolled my eyes and hissed.
I love Derrick and he loves me, we need each other. I thought not sounding convinced with my subconscious.
Knock!
The slight knock on the door jerked me out of my thoughts, making my hand come in contact with my expensive eyeliner that I was applying fall on my queen themed carpet with the content splashed on it leaving a big black stain.
"Who is that idiot?" I yelled at whoever was at the door.
The door creaked slowly and an old lady that looked in her 50's came into view taking slow strides towards me.
She was wearing a white shirt under her black pinafore with an apron tied to her waist.
I eyed her scornfully, she doesn't look like someone I know. Who I'm I kidding, I don't even know half of the workers employed here.
"What is it?" I asked giving her a disdainful stare.
"M-ada-m told m-e to call yo-u" she stuttered will looking anywhere but my face.
"You're very stupid!" I jumped out of my chair facing my dresser facing her while towering her with my height.
"Look at the mess you've made." I pointed the stained carpet for emphasis, "Do you know how much that carpet costs?" I asked her giving her a deadly glare.
"Ma-
I didn't let her finish before her interrupted her from the stupid thing she's gonna say.
"Do you even know how much the eyeliner costs?" I asked again.
"Ma the-
I cut her off again.
"Just shut up and get the hell out of here you oversized bimbo and make sure the stain on this carpet is gone when I come back" I shot her a deadly glare before she took on her feet and scurried out of my room.
I grabbed my latest version of my Chanel and headed downstairs to meet the devil of a woman I call my mum.
I made my way down the stairs ignoring the greetings of workers.
I sighted my mum on the dining table scrolling through her phone with her well manicured nails. I examined her and noticed she was in a bonnet and matching pajamas.
I walked silently towards the living room reaching the exit in a bid to skip breakfast. But all hope was lost when her icy tone stopped me halfway through.
"And where do you think your going young lady?" I looked at her direction and noticed her gaze was still fixed on her iPhone 14, scrolling and tapping on it.
"I'm going to school ma" she looked at me with an expressionless face, "I'm already late" I tapped on the expensive watch Derrick gave me.
But that was a total lie.
Today was the day our results got released and I knew very well I'm going to earn plenty deranging words from my mum about my grades or rather my grade.
I'm a very bright student, not average but brilliant. Some would take it cause of my character and stuff like that I'm a dummy but I'm actually not. The only problem I have with is math and my mum uses that as an excuse to mock my flaw.
The thing is that she was always never like this, it all started when I went against her wishes for me to study medicine and decided to go into art class.
Well for one I didn't want to study Medicine because I wasn't so good in science stuff and I was also bad at math. And I couldn't become a doctor watching people die because of my carelessness, I know I'm bitchy and rude but I have a heart.
"What is the meaning of this?" She stood up while shoving her phone in my face aggressively.
And there you have it.
On her phone showed the results from the previous term. I scored an A in almost all the subjects except Economics where I scored a B, but of course she'll ignore all the good ones and go to the bad one where I scored an F in Maths.
She dropped the phone on the armrest of the chair close to her and looked at me with a stoic expression.
"You know that your a disgrace right?" She said looking at her with a disgusted look on her face.
Here we go again.
"Mothers like me are flaunting their child's good grades on social media and I'm here stuck with a useless girl like you that doesn't know anything" my mother spat with an aggravated expression.
I sniffed trying to hold the tears.
"Girls your age are there saving lives and you're here being stupid" she shot another verbal attack on me making the tears drop.
"Your a silly excuse for a daughter, please out of my way" she bumped her shoulders with me making me to stagger a little bit.
I used the back of my elbow to clean the tears, looking around to see some workers looking at her pitifully.
"WHAT ARE YOU ALL LOOKING AT!" My scream was enough to make them scurry off to their various activities.
Bringing out the pocket mirror I checked my face only to see my eyeliner ruined.
I sighed, there was no need redoing it again since an old hag made me spill it.
I walked through the place the car was parked putting my bitchy face as I entered the car.
"Good morning young miss" the driver passed a greeting to me which I ignored.
Out of boredom I brought out phone and clicked on my Instagram app. Notifications came in, mostly from boys and older men I ignored them and went to the person's page I despised the most.
Florence Adelola Williams.
The stupid bitch my mum always compares me with.
Her profile indicates she posted a new picture and I clicked on it without wasting time.
It was a picture of her smiling with Dr Niniola Tomiwa, the most popular female Doctor here in Nigeria.
The picture had a caption that says 'saving lives with my idolβ€οΈβ¨'
Florence Adelola Williams is the first teenager in Nigeria to perform surgeries and operations with well known doctors.
The daughter my mum wished for. I mocked in my head.
I switched off my phone phone feeling anger in the pit of my chest.
I wish I could be daughter my mum wants.
