"If you see this girls nyash, omo you go just craze, the way it dey bounce. Guy I just..." I tuned out off Dexter's multiple sex-scapes as a figure I couldn't get out of my mind for some reason entered the cafe looking all cute. Her hairstyle was packed into a bun highlighting her oval shaped face.
The lights in the cafeteria illuminated her fair skin, giving it a radiant glow. I watched as she walked towards the cafeteria counter in slow almost conscious strides.
I watched as she walked towards the counter and smiled at the lady behind it. A smile that made my insides melt. My mind drifted to how we texted each other, talking about random things till dawn.
For someone who claims to be socially awkward she seems to have the best conversations.
I shifted my gaze to Sonia again and saw she contemplating on whether to go to a certain table. From my peripheral vision I saw Flora waving to Sonia to come sit with her but she simply ignored her and settled on another table.
Flora sighed in what seemed like frustration. I could sense some sort if tension between them.
"...guy are you even listening?" Dexter asked, it was then it dawned on me that we were in a middle of a discussion, well not particularly a discussion.
"I'll be right back." I excused myself making both Dexter and also Desmond who was sitting down beside him confused.
I gathered all the confidence I got and headed towards her table. I could feel people boring holes into my back, and murmurings. Every inch of the cafeteria was silent as soon as I made a stop at Sonia's table.
Sonia who was to engrossed in her food must have noticed the sudden silence and looked up, gazing at me confused.
I know I shouldn't be here right now, considering the fact that the rumours of Empress and I breaking up and also the rumour about us in my room.
Sonia gave me this 'what do you think you're doing look' as soon as I sat in the chair opposite her.
"Hi." I greeted.
"Hi?" It came out from her beautifully plump lips more like a question.
I watched her fiddle with her fingers as she looked at anywhere else but me. I kinda found it cute, and why was she acting shy? Wasn't this the same person I talked to yesterday.
"You look beautiful today." I complemented her making her turn red. Perks of having light skin. She was so cute.
"Guy hold yourself," my subconscious whispered.
"Why are you here?" She questioned, this time making direct contact with me.
"So I can't be here again?" I retorted back.
She exhaled before looking left and right, examining everyone in the cafeteria who still had their eyes on us. She looked disturbed and probably nervous.
"If its about what people have to say then don't worry about that, I just want to talk." I told her.
She gave me a small almost faint smile. Then exhaled again.
"Fine, what would you like to talk about." She finally agreed, sipping her milkshake.
"I know you don't know, but my birthday is on the 28th of this month which is Friday, I was hoping you could come for my party."
"A-a party." She stuttered a little as she asked.
I nodded.
"Parties aren't really my thing. I don't think I can make it." She told me sincerely as she avoided eye contact.
"It's gonna be fun pretty please?" I pleaded.
She seemed hesitant for a while before she finally gave a small nod.
"Okay great I'll meet you there."
I stood up about to leave when a question came into mind. "Why aren't you sitting with Flora?"
She looked taken aback at my question, a few seconds passed before she finally regained composure. She cleared her throat of any obstructions before muttering. "Flora needs to be alone right now, so I'm giving her some space."
I stared at her for a while, processing what she said. Even if me and Flora aren't close and only talk a little, if anything I've known about Sonia is that she doesn't like being alone. She's someone who is always everywhere at a time.
"Okay, bye then." I didn't push any further as I waved her goodbye. Making my way to my original seat in the cafeteria that I sat with Dexter and Desmond.
As soon as I got there, I noticed Dexter telling Desmond something he didn't seem to be paying attention to. Desmond had his buried in his Chemistry textbook oblivious to my presence.
I cleared my throat making them glance at me. Dexter noticed this and eyed me liked a market woman before hissing.
"Oh you're back, after leaving us to go and meet woman, you're finally back." Dexter said sarcastically.
"I'm sorry." I apologized but Dexter didn't say anything he only kept looking at Sonia then me and me then Sonia. Desmond looked like he couldn't care.
"So...what did you tell her?" He arched an eyebrow up.
"Nothing much, I only told her about my birthday coming up and invited her to the party and her and Flora don't seem like they're in talking terms." I replied.
"Did you just say Sonia and Flora aren't in talking terms? Like Flora and Sonia are separated at the moment." I nodded slowly, still confused at where he's heading at.
What he did next surprised me.
He fist bumped the air happily and strode away to Flora's desk.
Chineke!
I stared in outmost confusion at him. I glanced at Desmond who only shrugged and went back to his reading.
This boy sha, he'll never have sense.
The day has been going great so far, from me convincing Sonia to attend my party and Sonia and I also got an A+ on our literature project. This day was surprisingly a good day or so I thought...

Everyone's phone in the cafeteria suddenly made the notification sound in cacophony, including mine. That's weird. I thought as I brought out my phone from my left pocket.
I rolled my eyes as I looked at what is was. Can't some people just rest, nawa sef. What was trending was a picture of me and Sonia some minutes ago. And it had a caption and some hashtags.
Sonia strikes again.
#soniathebitch #boyfriendsnatcher #hoe #attentionseekingbitch
The funny thing about this was I was the one who approached her to talk, but no she's the one at fault. I quickly glanced at the table she was on and saw that she wasn't there anymore. I made a mental note to talk to her later. I was about to avert my gaze when I saw something that caught my eyes.
It was my younger sister Daphne standing at the entrance of the cafeteria, staring at me with panic in her eyes. Her look screamed urgent, and before you could say Jack Robinson I was out of my seat and heading towards her.
"Why are you here?" I asked, looking left and right to find any presence lurking around.
I looked up at her and saw she was trembling.
"D-ad is b-ack." She stuttered, she still had a scared look on her face. "He called and he needs you in the house like right now."
I was dumbfounded, what did he possibly want now?
"Okay, I got this. I'll meet him now." I told her.
"Should I come with you?" She asked, a bit of worry in her eyes as she looked at me.
"No its no problem I'll be okay." I gave her a tight-lipped smile. She hesitantly left and I let out an exhale.
Break time will be over in a few minutes, that means learning will still continue. There is no way the security are gonna let me leave the school premises by this time.
Nothing some cash can't fix. My subconscious suggested.
I reluctantly agreed with my subconscious.
I got my bag from the classroom and made my way to the school gate. And threw some waddles of cash I didn't bother counting at the security man.
And I took a cab.

"Oga good afternoon oh, this wan you come house early wetin happen?" I ignored the gateman's ramblings as I stepped foot into the compound.
The latest G-wagon was parked in front of me and two white Hilux's were also parked by the right. And two gigantic men wearing suits were standing at the door side. All of these confirming my theories.
He is back. He is really back.
I thought he was supposed to be in the states for another 2 months.
I took slow strides to the door which his bodyguards were guarding. The other looked at the body guard on right, giving him the signal to open up the door.
I stepped into the house, and I started feeling anxious and sweaty all of a sudden. The plasma TV which was switched off before I left for school was switched on now.
I glanced around and saw maids running helter-skelter probably trying to fix one or two things, making sure everything is perfect for the unannounced arrival of him. My father.
"Amanda this food is to salty. Discharge it immediately." The head of maids criticized.
The kitchen and the dinning table were all noisy. The sound of cutleries and ceramic plates being placed on the table. The arrangement of glass cups and the placement of different assorted dishes.
Loud footsteps resounding from the stairs was enough to stop all the noise in all angles. I looked only to see Samuel Johnson the number one business tycoon in the whole of Nigeria descending the stairs.
The had on an ash native with a lion designed on the shirt, a Rolex watch adorning his wrist and expensive looking dress shoes.
He looked up, matching my gaze as he took his last step and sauntered towards my direction. He had a stern look on his face as he accessed me from head to toe.
"Welcome sir." I greeted, my gaze directed on my Nike air force. I couldn't just bring myself to meet his gaze.
I heard him scoff.
"Let's head to the dinning and discuss some important things. Shall we?" He stated. I was about to say a no, but the look he fixed on me made my mouth say otherwise.
I slowly took my seat a chair after him. The maids started trooping in, with trays filled with food. I stared at the assorted dishes right in front of me.
"What are you waiting for? Dig in." My dad said taking a bite of his turkey.
I already had lunch in the cafeteria, and I didn't have an appetite to eat due to his presence. I knew he was gonna release a bombshell on me very soon. So I'm not going to eat to avoid puking.
I reluctantly served myself some Jollof rice. Not having any plans to eat it.
"So your birthday is in what? A few months right?" My dad chuckled while I stared at him in disbelief. I wasn't surprised, he hardly knew anything about me.
He continued, "I guess you're gonna be like 16 years."
"My birthday is on the 28th of this month which is on Friday and I'll be turning 18." I said through gritted teeth.
He chocked on his food at my last statement. A maid rushed to him and stood by his side, giving him a glass of water as she tried to calm him down. I sat there and watched the whole drama clearly not interested.
"You're turning 18, that's great news. You can finally run the business." I inwardly rolled my eyes. He had a smile plastered on his face which was obviously fake.
"Wow!" He exclaimed. "It's finally happening, I need to call Empress' dad to talk about the engagement plans now that you're older now. We can merge the businesses together." He cackled, before bringing out his phone from his pocket. But my words stopped his action.
"I'm not getting engaged to Empress dad." I deadpanned making him remove his phone from his ear slowly.
"What do you mean by that boy!?" His voice grew a tone higher and I just knew he was already angry.
"Dad, I can't be engaged to Empress we broke up." I stated point blankly. My dad just looked at me as if I've gone mad before bursting into hysterical laughter.
"You're funny this child."
"Dad I don't love her--"
"SHUT UP!, are we really doing this? You want to be a coward like your mother who runs away from everything. You better man up and get ready for this engagement." He warned in an icy tone.
"What do you even know about love? I didn't love you're mum when I married her. She was just what I needed to boost my business and its now the best in Nigeria. I also need you to forget about love and focus on the main thing. Boosting my business." His voice was surprisingly calm and demanding. As if to to each word sink into my brain.
"Where is that useless sister of yours by the way." He sneered.
"She's in school dad, the place I'm supposed to be before you called me here." I said through gritted teeth, tired of his antics.
"Easy there boy, Empress and her dad will be here sometime next week for the introduction, don't mess it up."
He said and started sauntering down the stairs.

Argggghhhhhh!
Dad please don't do this to me.
Derrick help!
My two eyes opened the moment I heard someone scream my name. I looked through the windows leading to the balcony in my room and saw it was night time.
I hurriedly searched for my phone, grabbed it and checked the time. It read 1am in the morning.
What or rather who would be making noises like this in the night time.
Somebody help me! A familiar voice screamed which was followed by the sound of a belt lash.
And that's when it dawned on me. Oh no! With widened eyes I stood up from bed and slipped into my slides as I hurriedly descended the staircase leading to the living room.
What I sighted made tears well up in my eyes instantly.
My sister was on the floor crying her eyes out as my dad continued hitting her profusely. Her eyes were silently begging me to help her, but I just couldn't.
I couldn't do anything as I watched the beast I called a father descend on my sister.
I watched as she cried for help, begging me to help her.
But I couldn't do anything.
