I've never felt like this for a long time, why does this keep on happening to me.

Flora and Zainab left some hours ago, after asking me if I was alright and left when I gave no response to them. Flora tried apologising on her sisters behalf but I paid her no heed. She knew about my status, and her sister also knew about it.

She knew her sister was gonna do this, but she didn't say anything.

I hugged the pillow deeply which was in my possession as I allowed fresh tears pour freely from my eyes.

I tried closing my eyes to get some sleep but I couldn't. My phone which was on the nightstand kept on vibrating for no good reason. I wondered what could be the problem. I suspected the person to be Flora or either Zainab, but the number of notifications I got didn't seem like something just one person could send.

I stretched my hands towards the nightstand and grabbed my phone. I hissed as I was greeted with the eye piercing brightness of my phone as soon as I turned it on. I made the brightness setting normal as soon as I recovered.

The time displayed 4:30am in the morning. Did I really cry for that long?

I looked at my notifications and I saw almost a thousand messages and mentions on all my social apps. This couldn't be good.

I opened WhatsApp, and saw a lot of people tagged me. I wondered why?

I clicked on the group hesitantly and my mouth dropped to the floor at what I was seeing. It was a picture of me and Derrick when I went to his house today...or rather yesterday. The picture was when me and him shook hands. And the picture displayed me leaning in which looked like I was gonna kiss him.

I gulped as I scrolled slowly to see the comments.

@Soniaโœจ I always knew you were an attention seeking bitch but why can't you just have shame and wait for a boy to kiss you first na.

081*****
After she'll now be doing like one innocent holy Mary.

080******
I knew this girls ulterior motive was to get Derrick the moment she bumped at him in the cafeteria. Shameless thing.

For some reason, I wasn't moved by any of their comments. I just felt nothing. Eversince I stepped foot into this school, people always had one or two bad things to say about me. So instead of bothering on their comments, I tried to pinpoint who could be responsible for this photo.

I mean who could possibly do this? We were the only ones in his room. Unless a ghost took the photo.

I rubbed my forehead at the headache building up, I still haven't recovered from Florence's own drama and now another one is building up. It just feels like the whole world is against me.

I starred at the time displayed on my phone and I exhaled. I needed something to distract myself, I couldn't sleep either, so I did what any normal person would do. I went to my Pinterest and searched 'inspirational quotes'. I kept scrolling and scrolling till a particular one got my attention.

'Treat yourself nice baby girl, don't let anything bad weigh you down . Show them you aren't affected'

I smiled at the quote, and at the same time an ad from darling hair came in. Then it hit me, I know what exactly I'm going to do.

I starred at the different variety of hairstyles posted on the wall, deciding in which one to try. They came in different sizes and colour.

I was in SANDRA'S BEAUTY HALL. A well known saloon here in Abuja. Apart from braiding of hair they render other services like micro-blading, fixing of human hair, painting and fixing of nails, pedicure, make-up artistry and many more.

After much searching I finally decided to get faux locs. I have been on my natural hair for a while now, so I decided to relax it.

I hissed as the woman relaxing my hair dragged it forcefully. I gave her look but she just continued, even more roughly this time.

"Can you please take it easy." I pleaded with her.

"Madam, you know say I suppose am like this well well so it go enter." She said in an almost rude tone. No scratch that she WAS rude!

I just looked at her with a blank look, her pidgin English is not even complete self. She looked like she was in her 20s or something. I guessed she was new to this job cause she doesn't know what she's doing at all.

"It hurts na." I whined.

"See, just shut up dat ya mouth, everytime yen yen yen. Can't you just keep quiet let me do this my work in peace, wetin be your own sef? You be the first person to relax hair!?" She snapped causing other employees and customers to look at us.

The employees glared at her as if a sign to shut up while the customers gave her a disapproving look.

And the same time a robust woman with too much makeup on her face came in. The lady who was yelling at me became stiff all of a sudden, and her eyes widened in fear.

"Madam welcome o." The lady greeted in a nervous voice. Avoiding the lady's gaze.

"Temilade why were you yelling?" The woman asked with her hands on her waist. Waiting patiently for her to respond.

"Madam, na this girl o I never even start and she dey complain like small pikin."

"Will you shut up your mouth!" The lady yelled at her.

She looked at the other workers who just bowed down in fear.

"Haven't I warned all of you not to be trusting her with the customers hair? You want another situation whereby she'll make someone bald again abi?" She queried at all the workers present.

"Madam-"

A light skinned girl, which I assumed to be one of the workers started but was cut short by the glare the woman gave her.

She turned back to the girl who was shaking in fear. "Oya get out of here!"

She scurried of hastily.

The woman gave me a small smile. "I am so sorry about that, Favour please attend to her."

A lady, who was on a low cut dyed red stood up and strided towards me. I assumed she was Favour.

She finished relaxing my hair and went to wash the substance off when it was thoroughly relaxed.

After some hours she was finally done with my hair. I decided to take a mirror pic. I smiled when I saw the beautiful girl. A girl who looked like she didn't have any problems in the world. But that was far from it.

It has been long since I've posted on my WhatsApp status, that spiders might have grown cobwebs by now. I posted the mirror pic in a go. I stood up and was about to leave when I saw a familiar figure. I couldn't make out the person's face because of the designer shades on her eyes. She tied a scarf and wore a pink floral dress with sandals.

I gasped as soon as I saw the person when she took of her glasses.

Florence.

Adelola.

WILLIAMS!!!

I breathed in and out, wiped my eyes to check if my vision was blurry, rubbed my palms which were getting sweaty on my joggers and pinched myself to check if all these was real. And of course I panicked when it was all real.

I quickly turned around to avoid her. I could see her talking to the manager from my side vision.

"Here are your prescribed drugs, I hope you get better soon." She said to the manager, stretching out a bag to her which the drugs might be located.

It was weird seeing her nice, considering the way she acted towards me yesterday at my house.

The manager gave her a smile and mouthed a thank you to her. She was about turning to the exit when she stopped on her tracks.

"You know its been long I got a pedicure, please can you get someone to attend to me." The manager nodded her head and sent a girl.

Before you know it, she was already walking towards my direction. I panicked, as I looked at the corners of the room trying to find a good hiding spot.

My back prevented her from having a glimpse of me. From my peripheral vision I saw her taking the seat I was occupying before bringing out her phone from her bag.

I sighed, its a good thing she's distracted. I tried tiptoeing. Key word tried but my plan didn't go as planned. I wasn't even halfway to the exit when I bumped into a table were wigs and hair products where placed, and everything came crashing down.

I stood still, not knowing what to do. The workers already had their eyes on me. Probably confused as hell. I backed away from the table slowly only to meet the eyes of Florence.

Her expression was shock before her eyes turned to something dark and she gave me a deadly look. She immediately stood up and started walking towards me aggressively. She pulled my arm forcefully and dragged me outside.

She let go of me when we were outside. The scotching sun hit reminder that I just left an air conditioned place. The first thing she did was to give me a deadly look, and then accessed me from head to toe.

"Why are you here?" She asked through gritted teeth. "You shouldn't be here."

I looked at her confused, so I should not be going out because of her. Isn't freedom of movement a thing?

"I came here to make my hair, any problem?"

"The audacity, so after all I told you, you had the guts to still make your hair. When children are still dead. You aren't even allowed to do anything in this life again." Her tone rose an octave higher which made people around us to look.

I don't understand this girl again, so I should just stop making my hair cause of dead children? Honestly she isn't making sense again. She sounds like someone who needs help.

"I'm sorry for the death of the children, but you're not honestly making an atom of sense. I wasn't the cause of the children's death, and its a free country I will do what I want to do. You cannot tell me what to do." I reciprocated the same tone she used on me.

"You know what, I shouldn't be here exchanging words with you. Action speaks better than words. I will deal with you the hard way. And just maybe you can also be in the place those children are. Now if you excuse me." She put on her glasses before walking back to the saloon leaving me shocked.

I put the last book which contained my assignment in my schoolbag. I stretched my hands in tiredness as I picked up my phone. The time read 8:30pm, it was this early and I'm tired. I got back from the saloon several hours ago.

I couldn't stop thinking about Florence and her words. Is she really going to do something bad to me? Sighing again, I opened my WhatsApp only to meet dryness. I saw some messages from Flora which I ignored. I'm not in the mood to talk to anyone.

I saw a message from Derrick, indicating he commented on my status.

Odeโ˜น๏ธ

Odeโ˜น๏ธ

And that's how I spent the whole night texting Derrick. Talking about random things. Till I shut my eyes and let darkness overtake me.
