II. Aliens Don't Care About Peace
-Present-
***
The machinery beeped in protest as Adam gritted his teeth in stress and determination. He jerked the controls to the far right, barely missing the purple beam of energy blasting from the strange and gigantic spacecraft.
"Integrity now down to 35%. Fuel levels are rapidly being exhausted.", the robotic voice warned, "Do you want to continue with safety measures off?"
Adam smashed the button to shut the computer up as he swerved around desperately in his failing spaceship, "YES!!! Keep the safety and regulation off!!"
The computer buttons, dials and screen all glitched in protest at his command, the engine not being able to take the high speed chase.
More blasts ensued from the hostile craft after him as sweat ran down his forehead and his heartbeat raced.
There really did seem to be other beings out there... ones who were willing to kill.
Adam could practically hear Shiro's protests and panicked voice warning everyone about the race of aliens who wanted to take over other planets. That memory had stuck with him and he didn't know whether to truly believe it or not.
He had thought Shiro had just lost his mind, somehow surviving in an abandoned space base in the outer belt.
Well, Adam was really starting to consider the fact that he had been wrong. Or maybe just plain stupid.
He should've never gone out on this trip alone.
Suddenly the whole ship vibrated angrily, one of the stabilizers getting blown to pieces along with a wing.
The beam's blast was powerful, just having the small ship being hit on the side made the whole thing creak threateningly, as if it were going to explode any minute.
And the red flashing lights and screaming of robotic warnings and diagnostics weren't helping anything as he tried to keep moving.
Chaos surged around Adam as he made a final prayer and forced the broken ship ahead despite all the signs that indicated him to stop.
"C'mon!!! C'MON!!!", he screamed as the engine finally gave out from the stress of the intense flight, "Dammit!! Not now, not now!!"
Beads of sweat covered his forehead as he ripped open the manual engine cover, his eyes darting over the countless colored wires, most of which were smoking.
Grabbing a red one and splitting it with a knife, he connected it with another wire, making the whole box spurt out more smoke.
Adam coughed violently as he waved it away, his eyes watering as he pulled on his space helmet and suit.
His ship was now being pulled in by some force by the gigantic battleship, and he was prepared for the worse as he watched a small fire burst in the system.
"God damn it.", Adam muttered as he saw the first flames spring to life as he grabbed a fire extinguisher.
Like he didn't have enough on his plate already.
Dying by smoke suffocation and an exploding ship in deep space didn't seem much better then possibly by the hands of hostile aliens.
He quickly activated the solvent which smothered the hungry flames, filling the ship with even more air-eating smoke.
He then felt the ship get dropped down, rattling him in it as the top was suddenly and violently torn off with a loud ear splitting shriek.
Adam looked up and saw that a strange alien stood over him, holding the scrap of metal which used to be the roof of his ship in the cockpit.
Forcing down the fear which filled his now quickly beating heart, he held out his hands in a gesture of peace, "My name is Adam Wolf, and I come in peace.", he told them clearly, his voice projecting through the speakers in the wrist of his spacesuit.
"Grab it.", the alien commanded, his robotic eye and real one flashing dangerously.
He barely had time to react before strong purple hands yanked him out of his pathetic looking ship and threw him to the ground.
His helmet was then ripped off as well, making Adam instinctively hold his breath in fear of a lack of oxygen.
"It's another human...", the alien said, presumably the leader, bending down and looking at him, "Human, I am Sendak, commander and ruler of the Galra Empire. Why did you come out here and where are you from?"
He continued to hold his breath, not wanting or able to answer these strange beings and give something away.
Adam felt himself going lightheaded as the robotic eyed and armed alien frowned before his face turned into a snarl.
The alien's foot then came down onto Adam, knocking the air right out him as he lay splayed on the floor.
He sputtered and coughed, holding his side as he realized he could still breathe and that the alien was cold and cruel.
Taking a deep breath of courage, Adam stared into the face of his attacker, "Who are you? What do you want from me? And are you the aliens that Takashi Shirogane has spoken about?", he demanded, his voice slightly quavering.
"Apparently you don't listen very well. I answered that already.", the alien answered, "My name is Sendak, little weakling, and if you know the name Shiro, I'm guessing you're friends?", he sneered, "One of his little human buddies on a rescue?"
They did know Shiro...
Adam felt his heart almost stop from hope and dread.
He then stood up, anger sparking from his eyes, "Where is he?! What did you do to Shiro?!", he yelled as two guards immediately grabbed him again and forced him to his knees.
Sendak smiled, "So you are his friend... good. Someone like you could prove most useful to me for destroying Voltron."
"V-Voltron??"
"Yes Adam, Voltron.", Sendak confirmed as the strange but somehow familiar word echoed through Adam's memory, "And you will be the key to helping me destroy it."
Adam felt himself panicking as his eyes took in the strange and foreign technology and people.
What was Voltron?
Did he just end up in the very place Shiro had screamed about when he had crashed onto Earth?
Was he going to die at the hands of these strange aliens?
It almost felt like too much.
Anger completely abandoned Adam as fear gripped him relentlessly, the only thing coming to him a desperate final plea for mercy, "I-I come in peace! I never meant you any harm by passing through!! Please! Just let me go!"
Sendak sneered at him, his giant robotic hand crushing the roof easily as he spoke, "I don't care about peace. I only care about submission and strength. My only mission is to make everyone fall under my rule and destroy those who stand in my way. So save your weak whimpering for somebody who cares."
Adam's eyes widened as he felt his hope drain away.
Whatever mess he could've found himself with a failing ship, was nothing close to what he had landed himself in now.
Determination then filled him suddenly, replacing the shock and fear and a strange sense overcoming him.
He was NOT going to stay there and become their prisoner and tool. And he wasn't going to be put down when they decided to.
If these aliens, with Sendak leading them, didn't care about peace, he only had one option.
And that was to go down fighting on his terms.
Adam suddenly dropped himself onto the floor suddenly, making the soldier's bend down to grab him and giving the room and time he needed.
Grabbing his hidden gun from the compartment in his belt, Adam turned the safety off in less than a second and rapidly pulled the trigger twice, shooting both guards down.
Red blood splattered onto his face and body as the bullets sank into the purple aliens necks, making them collapse to the ground on top of him.
Adam twisted and rolled quickly, barely avoiding the dead weight that potentially could trap him and leave him vulnerable.
Sendak was on him in a second, grabbing him by the throat and slamming him into the wall.
"So, unlike your other human friends, you do have some fight in you.", he growled his grip tightening, "Unfortunately for you though, it isn't good enough to get you out of this."
Adam gasped for air as he clutched the arm that held him aloft and was slowly cutting off his air supply.
Meanwhile his other arm was shaking and it took all it had for him to keep his grip on the white gun.
He stared into the eyes of the alien, telling him he wasn't giving up since his words were not able to come through.
"Go ahead. Try to shoot.", he challenged watching Adam's arm rise slowly, "It's not like it's going to save Shiro.", he snarled.
Adam felt those words dig deep into him, hatred, sadness and anger coursing through him as he suddenly aligned his arm properly to Sendak's skull.
That alien had made the biggest mistake of his life. And that was one he would pay for with his life.
Adam's finger squeezed the trigger before Sendak could react and blood filled his vision before he was dropped back onto the cold hard ground.
Right next to the bodies his gun had claimed. That his own hands had claimed.
He felt himself shake from the stress and adrenaline that had just coursed through him, the only thing now left confusion and loss.
All he knew was that he now was in a new world, governed by strength and fear... and he had to accept that if he wanted to survive.
*Note: Adam left after Shiro disappeared into space and before Sam holt returned back to earth. He is not aware that Matt and Sam are fine because he didn't have the chance to get the news.*
