Makena sat in the conference room, holding the spear that Shuri had made her. She had cleaned it of all the blood and yet it still felt like it was covered in it. Nat had to force Makena to get off the sofa and take a shower. Nat had never seen Makena so...lost. Like she didn't know what to do now that she lost Kenni, Zenna, Zach, Erik, T'Challa, and now Shuri. You could even count Wanda and Vision who she had grown close to. Maybe even Sam and Bucky too.
"This is a nightmare," Steve mumbled.
They were gathered around a table which had shown holograms of how many people were blipped. As that's what they were calling it.
"I've had better nightmares," Nat said.
Makena set the spear next to her and brought her knees to her chest, leaning her head on them with her eyes closed. "Hey. So, that thing just stopped doing whatever the hell it was doing." Rhodey stood at the door, referring to a device Nick Fury had last possessed. Apparently it was sending a signal to someone who must've been Fury's last resort to help.
Nat walked over to Makena and leaned down to look her Makena who had slowly opened her eyes. "Here come with me. We're gonna go to the kitchen after we check on the device. And you are going to eat," Nat said, more like ordered. She hated seeing Makena in this state.
Steve had told Nat earlier that Makena was refusing to eat, drink or sleep. She just sat somewhere in the compound and dazed off into her own little world. Which also meant her body was growing week without liquids or food. Makena let out a sigh and let Nat pull her up.
They all walked to the room where thr device was hooked up to some kind of battery charger. "What do we got?" Nat asked Bruce.
"Whatever signal it was sending finally crapped out."
"I thought we bypassed the battery," Steve said.
"We did. It's still plugged in. It just stopped," Rhodey explained.
"Reboot it. Send the signal again."
"We don't even know what this is," Bruce said, uneasy about it.
"Fury did. Just do it, please," Nat said. "You tell me the second you get a signal. I wanna know who's on the other end of that thing."
Makena blinked, noticing a woman in some kind of red, blue and gold suit walk into the room, a quite attractive woman. Nat turned around, faced with the blonde woman.
"Where's Fury?" The woman asked.

"I'm just saying that maybe me dying isn't a big deal anymore. I mean, I'm not necessarily important, I literally have nobody, and yeah the idea also sounds kinda pleasing," Makena said. It was a few weeks later, she had gotten a little better but she still had her 'little' episodes.
"I'm not gonna suffocate you, Makena." Nat deadpanned and Makena frowned. "And if you keep trying to hurt yourself then I will lock you in your room with gloves locked on your hands," Nat said in all seriousness.
Makena pouted but then looked outside the window, suddenly noticing what appeared to be a space ship. Makena along with Nat, Steve, Bruce and Rhodey all ran outside of the compound. Makena noticed Pepper already standing on the grass waiting, hope and worry was washed over her features.
Carol had gently set the huge ship down on the grass and the ramp had opened. "I can't be the only one who finds her kinda hot right?" Makena mumbled to Nat who cracked a small chuckle.
Steve ran over as Nebula had held onto Tony, helping him walk down the stairs. "Couldn't stop him," Tony said.
"Neither could I."
"Hang on," Tony panted tiredly. Makena figured he must've been running out of air in that ship and was most likely low on food and water so his body was weak. She noticed how much his weight had dropped. "I lost the kid."
"Tony, we lost."
"Yeah, is uhm-" Makena assumed he was talking about Pepper. Wondering if she had been blipped like the others. Fortunately for him, she was perfectly fine.
Makena watched as they embraced. Nat pulled Makena into her side knowing Makena was a bit jealous that Tony still had Pepper. "You'll be okay," Nat mumbled but Makena wasn't convinced.
The next day, everyone was gathered in the conference room, discussing what to do next. Makena was sat on Tony's right, eating a subway sandwich Rhodey bought her. (he's always buying her a sandwich)
"It's been 23 days since Thanos came to Earth," Rhodes said.
"World governments are in pieces. The parts that are still working, are trying to take a census and it looks like he did."
Makena turned her eyes away when Shuri's face showed up after Peter's. She held the tear that threatened to fall and continued to take another bite of her sandwich.
"He did exactly what he said he was gonna do. Thanos wiped out...50% of all living creatures." Nat said.
"Where is he now? Where?" Tony asked.
"We don't know. He just opened a portal and walked through."
Tony sighed, and looked over to Thor, who was sitting somewhere away from the group, clearly pissed off. "What's wrong with him?"
"Oh, he's pissed. He thinks he failed. Which, of course, he did, but ya know there's a lot of that goin around, ain't there?" Rocket spoke up.
"Honesty, until this exact second I thought you were a Build-A-Bear," Tony said. Makena held her smile of amusement at that. Tony never failed to cracked some kind of amusing joke.
"Maybe I am."
"We've been hunting Thanos for three weeks now. Deep space scans, and satellites, and we got nothing. Tony, you fought him."
"Who told you that? I didn't fight him. No, he wiped my face with a planet, while the Bleecker Street magician gave away the stone. That's what happened. There was no fight cause he's not beatable."
"Did he give you any clues, any coordinates, anything?" Steve asked, pushing aside what Tony just said.
"I saw this coming a few years back. I had a vision. I didn't wanna believe it. Thought I was dreaming."
"Tony, I'm gonna need you to focus," Steve said, standing up. "And I needed you. As in, past tense. That trumps what you need. It's too late, buddy. Sorry."
Makena sighed at all the miscommunication between the group.
"You know what I need? I need a shave." Tony stood up, knocking over the bowel of food on the table. "And I believe I remember telling all you, alive and otherwise that what we needed was a suit of armor around the world. Remember that?" Tony had ripped off his IV mid statement.
"Whether it impacted our precious freedoms or not. That's what we needed." Tony insisted. Makena had no idea what they were even talking about but she listened closely anways.
"Well, that didn't work out, did it?"
"I said we'd lose. You said "we'll do that together, too." And guess what, Cap? We lost. And you weren't there. But that's what we do, right? Our best work after the fact? We're the 'Avengers'. We're the 'Avengers,' not the 'Pre-vengers'." Makena watched sadly as Tony was clearly unwell and suffering whatever side effects from the fight and being stranded in space.
"Okay. You made your point. Just sit down, okay?" Rhodey said, trying to get Tony to sit back down.
"Okay. No, no, here's my point. You know what?" Tony fought against Rhodey's hold. "She's great by the way," Tony said, referring to Carol. Makena pursed her lips, well he wasn't wrong. She was pretty cool.
"Tony, you're sick. Sit down."
"We need you. You're new blood." Tony told Carol. "Bunch of tired old mules. I got nothing for you, Cap. I got no coordinates, no clues, no strategies, no options. Zero. Zip. Nada. No trust, liar." Tony then continued to rip off the thing on his chest that contained his Iron Man suit. It reminded Makena of Shuri. When she had told Makena about how she made T'Challa's suit all in the teeth of the Black Panther necklace T'Challa wore.
Tony set it in Steve's hand, "Here take this. You find him, you put that on, you hide." After a few seconds Tony collapsed, and Rhodey and Steve rushed down to check on him. "I'm fine."
"Let me." They backed up to let him get himself up like he insisted, only he fell unconscious. Carol was the first one to immediately lean down and help him.
Half an hour later, Nat, Steve, Carol and Makena stood outside of the medical room Tony was resting in. "Bruce gave him a sedative. He's gonna probably be out for the rest of the day." Rhodey explained.
"You guys take care of him, and I'll bring him a Xorrian elixir when I come back." Carol said, before she began to walk off.
"Where are you going?"
"To kill Thanos." She bluntly stated.
Makena raised her brows, "I respect it," she mumbled. Makena stood up and followed after the woman seeing as Nat, Steve and Rhodey did.
"Hey. You know, we usually work as a team here and, uh, between you and I, morale's a little fragile." Nat said as Carol turned to look at her.
"We realize up there is more your territory, but this is our fight, too," Stevr said.
"You even know where he is, blondie?" Makena asked with an arched brow.
"I know people who might." Carol replied, not bothering to say anything on the little name as she knew Makena liked to give everyone a nickname.
"Don't bother," Nebula spoke up and Carol turned to look at her. "I can tell you where Thanos is."
"Well this should be interesting," Makena mumbled as they at gathered around to discuss it. Bruce and Thor, as well as Rocket also joining the group and he stood on the table crossing his arms as Makena leaned on the table near him. Thor sat at the kitchen table, eating some biscuits and Banner stood near the doorframe.
"Thanos spent a long time trying to perfect me. And when he worked, he talked about his Great Plan. Even disassembled, I wanted to please him. I'd ask, where would we go once his plan was complete? And his answer was always the same. To the Garden." Nebula spoke and Makena listened closely to her voice. Nat would always make jokes that Makena looked at people like she was in love with them because she was a good listener when she wanted to be.
"That's cute. Thanos has a retirement plan," Rhodes mumbled.
"So where is he?"
Rocket pulled up a hologram that we designed on the middle of the table. "When Thanos snapped his fingers, Earth became ground zero for a power surge of ridiculously cosmic proportions. No one's ever seen anything like it. Until two days ago, on this planet." Rocket pulled up the hologram of Planet 0259-5. Makena pursed her lips, not sure why they didn't do this earlier but oh well.
"Thanos is there," Nebula stated surely.
"He used the stones again," Nat said.
"Hey, hey, hey, we'd be going in shorthanded ya know?" Bruce pointed out.
"Look, he's still got the stones, so-"
'So let's get em," Carol cut Rhodes off. "Use them to being everyone back." A look of hope washed over Makena's features, maybe Shuri wasn't gone like she thought. If there was a chance they could bring everyone back, Makena was completely down to it.
"Just like that?" Bruce questioned.
"Yeah. Just like that." Steve said.
"Even if there's a small chance that we can undo this, I mean, we owe it to everyone who's not in this room to try." Natasha pointed out. Makena pointed at Nat and nodded in agreement with the fake blonde.
"If we do this, how do we know it's gonna end any differently than it did before?" Bruce questioned, also making a good point.
"Because before you didn't have me," Carol spoke.
"Hey, new girl? Everybody in this room is about that superhero life. And if you don't mind my asking, where the hell have you been all this time?" Rhodey defended, not liking Carol's cocky attitude. Makena on the other hand, loved it. I mean Carol was acting the same way Tony practically did. She didn't see much wrong with it.
"There are a lot of other planets in the universe. And unfortunately, they didn't have you guys," Carol said, making her own point that they didn't argue against.
"Look, obviously space hottie here knows what she's doing if Nick Fury called her as his last hope to help us. So I say, let her do what she does best. Just because it's not the way we do it doesn't mean it won't work. She did save Tony's life." Makena spoke up in defense, adding a new nickname for the blonde. Carol sent Makena a thankful smile and she offered a small shrug which said enough.
Thor stood up and stood in front of Carol, reaching his arm out, Stormbreaker flew into his hand, past Carol who didn't even flinch. The corner of Carol's lip twitched into a small smirk and Thor nodded. "I like this one."
"Let's go get this son of a bitch," Steve said.
"Yo, language dude," Makena joked, Steve shook his head but cracked a small smile.

Makena sat in the ship next to Natasha as they were headed to go and get the stone from Thanos. Bruce and Nebula were on the first level whilst, Rocket, Carol, Steve, Nat, Makena, Thor and Rhodey were all on the second level.
"Okay. Who here hasn't been to space?" Rocket asked, as they were literally already flying above Earth.
Makena, Steve, Nat and Rhodey all raised their hands. "Why?" Rhodey asked in confusion and Carol chuckled.
"You better not throw up on my ship," Rocket warned.
"Approaching jump in three...two, one."
Makena closed her eyes as they took off into space, going through some kind of portal until they reached Planet 0259-5. Carol had flew out of the ship and flew in front of the ship. "I'll head down for recon." Carol said, her voice coming in through the speakers.
Makena moved out of her seat and sat herself next to Thor. He looked at her and she pursed her lips before putting her hand over his in a comforting manner. "I know exactly how you feel, trust me." Makena sighed.
"You lost everything too?" Thor asked.
"Mhm. I lost my mom, my dad, my brother, my best friend, and the love of my life." Makena sighed, her other hand fiddling with the strap around her leg. (I don't wanna hear it- mind outta the gutter now)
"Sorry about Loki," Makena added sincerely.
Thor sighed and took her hand in his, it almost reminded her of how T'Challa would always take Makena's hand when she was stressed or upset. "I'm sorry about your family, and your girlfriend," Thor spoke quietly but she heard what he meant.
Makena smiled to herself and nodded, patting Thor's hand before standing up and walking back to her seat next to Nat. She pulled out her gun and added a few bullets before cocking it. Makena glanced over and seen Nat looking at Steve who was looking at the picture of Peggy in his compass.
"This is gonna work, Steve."
"I know it will. Cause I don't know what I'm gonna do if it doesn't." Steve said.
"I second that," Makena added.
Makena noticed Carol had flown back up to the ship and she spoke. "No satellites. No ships. No armies. No ground defenses of any kind. It's just him."
"And that's enough," said Nebula.
Carol had blasted into Thanos's place first, putting him in a chokehold. Bruce who was in the suit had also grabbed onto Thanos's fist that held the gauntlet. Then Rhodey grabbed Thanos's other hand, preventing him from grabbing onto Bruce. Thor flew in, immediately chopping off Thanos's left arm that the gauntlet was on.
Thanos screamed in pain and Carol held him tighter. Steve, Natasha and Makena all walked into the shack and Makena pulled out her spear and threw it at Thanos, it opened and stabbed through his chest and he groaned in even more pain. "That's for Wakanda you asshole," Makena spat out, shooting out her hand for the spear to come back to and the spear removed itself from Thanos chest and back into her hand.
Rocket flipped the gauntlet over, and his eyes widened in shock. The stones were no where to be seen. "Oh, no."
Steve, Nat and Natasha all looked down at the empty gauntlet and Makena clenched her jaw. Now becoming even more pissed.
"Where are they?" Steve asked.
Thanos didn't answer and Carol choked him tighter, "Answer the question."
"The universe required correction. After that, the stones served no purpose, beyond temptation," Thanos stated.
"You murdered trillions!" Bruce lashed out, shoving Thanos down as Carol moved out of the way.
"You should be grateful." Thanos shot back and Bruce punched him in the face.
Makena threw out her hand, forcing Thanos on his knees and restrained from doing anything. "Where are the stones?" Makena demanded.
"Gone. Reduced to atoms."
"You used them two days ago!" Bruce argued, assuming Thanos was lying.
"I used the stones to destroy the stones. It nearly killed me. But the work is done. It always will be. I am inevitable." Thanos said, proud of his work. He held zero remorse and that pissed Makena off.
Makena shook her head in denial, obviously she didn't want to believe that there was no way to get Shuri or T'Challa back. Makena dropped her hand and Thanos leaned on his arm that was still there but Makena was deciding on chopping that one off too.
"We have to tear this place apart. He has to be lying!" Rhodey expressed.
"My father is many things. A liar is not one of them," Nebula said.
"Ah. Thank you, daughter. Perhaps I treated you too harshly."
Thor finally lashed out, chopping off Thanos's head with a yell from his already defeated voice.
"What did you do?"
"I went for the head." Thor said.
Makena let out a defeated breath before following after Thor who was walking out. "I can never catch a break."
