"Can you stop tugging so hard, jeez," Shuri mumbled, trying to pull her head away from Makena.
Makena rolled her eyes and pulled Shuri's head back, trying to take out Shuri's braids. Shuri tried pulling away again but Makena trapped her with her legs.
Shuri huffed, crossing her arms like a child with a pout. "If you stop moving, it wouldn't hurt so much," Makena scolded and Shuri mocked Makena under her breath.
"Don't be a baby," Makena mumbled, finishing up on the last braid so they could wash it. Shuri wanted to go back to just curls for now.
"Not my fault you pull too hard. It's bad enough that you have super strength," Shuri argued. Makena rolled her eyes and unbraided the last one. Shuri sighed in relief and gently pushed Makena's legs off of her before getting off the bed. "I wish you took your locs out," Shuri muttered.
She didn't like the locs on Makena simply because Makena got them at the lowest point in her life. (when Shuri blipped) And she didn't like how they reminded her of what Makena had to go through when she was gone.
Makena gasped, hearing what she said. "Hey, hey, hey, these locs are precious and will not be leaving my head anytime soon." Makena shook her head, leaving no room for argument.
Shuri simply rolled her eyes at Makena's statement. "Whatever. At least it's not your whole head I guess," she frowned.
Shuri opened up their closet and pulled out one of Makena's Rihanna shirts and some of Makena's black sweats. "I really need to get you your own wardrobe style like mine," Makena mumbled with a tired sigh.
"No, it feels better because it's yours," Shuri argued. Makena raised her brows, "There's zero logic there but whatever you say love."
Shuri titled her head, watching curiously as Makena had some type of purple glow coming from her finger tips. "Kena, what's that on your fingers?" Shuri asked, setting down the clothes and walking over to the bed.
Makena furrowed her brows and looked down at her fingers, not seeing anything. "Are you okay?" Makena asked. It was a almost a year since T'Challa passed so she assumed the feelings were hitting Shuri again.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. I just thought I saw something." Shuri said, not even believing herself but if Makena didn't see it then she must've just imagined it.
"Okay. Go take a shower baby," Makena spoke. Shuri nodded and Makena gave her a small peck on the lips before Shuri walked into the bathroom.
When Shuri came from the bathroom after her shower she noticed Makena hunched over, rolling something in her hands. There was also some Kendrick Lamar music playing from Makena's speaker she brought from New York. Makena still had her apartment there but she rarely stayed in it, having been at Wakanda most of the time.
"What is that?" Shuri asked, sitting on the bed and watching curiously as Makena added more of the green crushed up stuff onto a new paper.
Makena looked up and smiled, "It's weed, it's a plant that gets you like super trippy depending on how much you smoke and what kind it is."
"So, like a cigarette?" Shuri asked.
"Nah, nah, it's wayy better. Cigarettes are disgusting. I'm surprised you don't know what weed is," Makena chuckled. She licked the paper slowly before rolling it, making sure one side was twisted up pretty good. Shuri's eyes squinted at that.
"Well, we don't exactly grow weed here and I only know about cigarettes because Kenni smoked some every once in a while." Shuri said, laying down but making sure to turn her body to look at Makena.
Makena hummed, "Yeah, my mom told me he smoked them when he was stressed. She always tried to get him to quit. It's funny considering she became the addict after that." Shuri raised her brows, still not used to Makena's dark sense of humor. She didn't know how Makena could make trauma jokes like that. But Makena was raised differently and handled her feelings in her own way.
"Sorry, dark humor. I forgot you're not used that," Makena mumbled apologetically. Shuri shook her head, "No, it's okay. We all deal with stuff differently."
"Ya know, that is something I really like about you."
"What is?"
"How understanding and supportive you are. My ex girlfriend absolutely hated my dark humor and when I smoked. But then again she just stuck around for sex and money so no shocker there. Ugh total bitch." Makena grimaced as she mentioned her ex, gosh how much she hated the girl.
"Mmm, I keep forgetting you had girls before me," Shuri said coyly, with pursed lips.
Makena smiled and leaned down and pressed a small peck to Shuri's lips. "Mhm, but now you don't have to worry about me being with anyone other than you. Because, I only want you," Makena reassured, her smile comforting the princess.
"I know," Shuri said, holding a cocky grin.
Makena scoffed, "don't get so big headed."
"I am allowed to get big headed, I literally scored the woman who took on Thanos and helped save the world." Shuri stated proudly. Makena nodded to herself, Shuri did have a point. But in Makena's eyes, Shuri was twice as better than her.
"You wanna get high with me?" Makena suddenly offered after a moment of peaceful silence. She never ever smoked around Shuri or with her as that's why Shuri didn't know about it until now. Makena was very cautious with certain things when she was with Shuri. And for good reason. Shuri once thought Makena's white bath bomb was cocaine.
"What does it do besides get you trippy?" Shuri asked.
"Well, from my personal experience, it helps with anxiety, it calms you down, makes you say some weird shit. And gets you a little horny, but it's different for everyone. Plus it takes your mind off depressing shit. I smoked a lot of weed after my brother so ya know, it helps." Makena explained, putting her stuff back into the nightstand drawer before grabbing a black lighter.
"That's all I need to hear. Light it up," Shuri said, sitting up and Makena smiled before lighting up the joint.
Minutes later, Makena was dancing and singing to the song Unforgettable as Shuri was sitting on the bed nodding her head along to the music and smoking their second joint.
"Come dance with me baby," Makena said, taking Shuri's hands.
Shuri laughed before letting Makena pull her up. Shuri and Makena danced together, just enjoying each other's company. Makena was glad Shuri was finally just letting herself go, not worrying about anything but just enjoying herself. And of course she enjoyed spending time with her girlfriend.
"And you are unforgettable!" Makena sung to Shuri who smiled, and passing the joint back to Makena. "I need to get you alone!" Makena sung, passing the joint back to Shuri.
Makena ran over to the speaker, turning up the music when Black Beatles came on. "This is one of my favorites," Makena grinned, walking back over to Shuri.
The music blasted throughout the room and down the halls of the palace. Okoye, who was on her way to send Shuri and Makena to the Queen who requested them down for dinner, furrowed her brows, caught off by the American music coming from the Princesses room.
Makena and Shuri were caught off guard when the door was knocked on. "Princess? Makena? What are you two doing?" Okoye asked suspiciously.
"Uhm, just a second!" Makena said, eyes widened as she and Shuri looked at each other with the joint in Shuri's hand. Shuri ran over to the ashtray and quickly put it out as Makena turned off the music.
Makena immediately opened the balcony doors to let the room air out as Shuri answered the door. "Princess, why are your eyes red?" Okoye questioned in concern.
"Huh? Oh, uh my eyes. Erm, I didn't get enough sleep?" Shuri said, questioning herself more than saying it.
"Hmm. Well, the Queen requested your presence at dinner. So I shall escort the two of you." Okoye stated. Shuri sent Makena a look, and Makena walked over, throwing an arm around Shuri, "I don't mind dinner. I'm starving." Makena shrugged, not getting Shuri's hint.
"All right. Come."
Makena and Shuri both trailed behind Okoye as the General led them to the dining room. "You might want to buy some eyedrops later. Wouldn't want the Queen to know you're both high as kites," Okoye said smugly, opening the door.
Shuri and Makena's eyes widened after a second and Okoye chuckled before walking in. Ramonda stood up and walked over to the girls. "Oh my goodness, are you two okay? Your eyes are red. Did you get enough sleep?" Ramonda asked in concern, examining Shuri's eyes.
"Um no, we didn't get enough sleep. We're actually pretty tired right now, so is it okay if we skip dinner today?" Shuri asked, letting out a fake yawn. Makena finally caught on and nodded in agreement, also letting out a fake yawn.
"Of course. Sleep well," Ramonda said. Shuri smiled and hugged her mother before she and Makena went to walk away. "Make sure to open the windows. Wouldn't want your bedsheets to smell like that plant you smoked," Ramonda stated. Shuri and Makena cursed under their breath before walking out as Ramonda and Okoye shared a little chuckle.
Makena flopped onto the bed with a laugh, "That was super funny but like so embarrassing."
Shuri chuckled and laying down next to Makena, turning on her side to face her. "Thank you," Shuri spoke.
Makena looked at her girlfriend, not hiding her confusion, "What do you mean baby?"
"I mean, thank you for helping me, ya know, let go." Makena smiled, leaning over to press a kiss to Shuri's lips. Makena grabbed her phone and turned the music back on, turning it down a little bit before using her powers to shut the balcony doors.
Shuri raised her brows as the song; Lost in the Fire came on. "Oh wow, this is a very suggestive song," Shuri mumbled, blinking in surprise from some of the lyrics.
Makena smirked and leaned on the headboard, her head tilted to glance at Shuri. "You're cute when you act all innocent."
Shuri raised her brows, "Whatever do you mean by that?" She asked, playing clueless.
"Oh you know exactly what I mean," Makena grinned, running her tongue over her lip and Shuri blushed at that. "You're Kimoyo Beads are off right? Don't want Okoye to hear all the kinky stuff that comes out of your mouth," Makena smirked amusingly and Shuri's eyes widened hearing that. She hated being reminded that Okoye heard her talk dirty before. Okoye's been using it against her ever since that night.
Shuri glanced at Makena, not wanting to prove her right but she quickly checked her Kimoyo Beads and made sure they were turned off. "Don't act like you're so innocent yourself," Shuri argued back with a laugh. "Oh no I'm definitely not, but I'm not as bad as you," Makena defended.
"And yet you taught me everything there was to know," Shuri shot back. "Mhm, and sometimes I wish I didn't. You've been gettin' a little too bold now. I'm gonna have to keep you in check," Makena said, a smirk tugged on her lips.
Shuri hummed to herself, "Nobody keeps me in check, ma."
"Oh? Ma? That's a new one. I like it. Say it again," Makena said, looking Shuri up and down with a suggestive smirk tugged on the corner of her lips.
Shuri bit her lip and smiled, "Sit on my lap, ma."
Makena chuckled and leaned over, climbing onto Shuri's lap. Shuri's hands immediately went to Makena's thighs, rubbing them with a smile on her lips. "Did I ever tell you how hot you look with the curly hair?" Makena whispered, pressing a slow open mouthed kiss on Shuri's neck.
"No, but maybe you should show me," Shuri suggested with a hitched breath as Makena moved her kisses down to Shuri's collarbones.
"oh gladly."

Makena stood by the ceiling tall windows in the throne room, chewing her gum with a pissed off expression. Makena glanced over her shoulder as Lord M'Baku and the Jabari entered the throne room. "So the river borders have been breached?" M'Baku questioned, walking in with a carrot in his hand like the proud vegetarian he was.
"Huh? If my soldiers were present, this Fishman would be bound before us as we speak," M'Baku stated.
"If your muscle brains were present they would still be there choking on their fuzzy adornments," Okoye shot back, not liking M'Baku talking bad about their warriors.
"You bald headed demon," M'Baku spat, pointing the carrot at Okoye and Makena couldn't help but let a little chuckle out.
"Show some respect you two," Queen Ramonda scolded.
"Respect? These men should be ashamed to show their faces," M'Baku said, referring to the three river tribe men.
"Watch your tone, Jabari!" The leader had defended.
Makena sighed tiredly as the Jabari did their chant and Okoye hit her spear on the floor, the Dora Milaje followed, silencing them. Ramonda pointed to M'Baku's chair, he took a loud bite of his carrot before sitting himself down.
"As I was saying, there was no arial surveillance footage of him," Okoye informed.
"And nothing by the radar of well," the man from the river tribe said.
"So, he swam under water for 100 kilometers?" The leader of the River Tribe asked, obviously in disbelief.
"He was not alone and claims to command a massive army." Queen said. Makena shook her head with a sigh, still annoyed that Shuri didn't have her Kimoyo Beads last night so they could've called her and she could've killed him already. Easy peasy.
"He wants us to deliver one American scientist. So he can kill them?" One of the elders asked.
"Do it," another tribe leader said, without any hesitation.
Makena stood up from her spot on the steps, shortly behind Ramonda, "Ya know, a few years ago I would've said the exact same thing. But we have no idea if this merman asshole is lying." Everyone looked at Makena, some not very sure why she was in the throne room during the council discussion but then again she did protect Wakanda.
"We've never had to face an enemy with access to vibranium before. And we have no Black Panther to protect us." The woman argued.
"That is because this wise council allowed Killmonger to take the throne. And burn up all of your precious heart shaped herb," M'Baku pointed out. Makena pursed her lips with a slight nod, he did have a point.
"M'Baku, what would you have us do?" Ramonda asked, wanting his opinion before she asked Makena who she knew had more experience with next level threats.
"We should find the Fishman and kill him." M'Baku stated bluntly.
Makena nodded, pointing at M'Baku in agreement. "For once, I actually agree with him. Let's say we do what he asks. What's to stop him from coming back and asking for more? Now me personally, I don't take kindly to anyone threatening Wakanda. And if he is a threat, we should kill him now. Oh no, let me rephrase that. I should kill him now." Makena said, standing on the right of the Queen.
"See this is why we must listen to Makena. She knows best, especially when Wakanda is on the line. And let's not forget she fought for Wakanda against the purple man and did TIME TRAVEL," M'Baku pointed out. He was obviously annoyed with everyone dismissing her say when hers should've been the most important of all. She literally went back in time for Wakanda.
The Queen sighed before dismissing everyone, already partially deciding what to do.
