"Yeah. We boarded that highly-suspect warship Danvers pinged," Rocket said.
"It was an infectious garbage scow." Nebula added, with a scowl.
"So, thanks for the hot tip." Rocket said to Carol sarcastically.
"Well, you were closer," Carol shrugged.
"Yeah. And now we smell like garbage."
"You get a reading on those tremors?" Nat asked Okoye, changing the subject before Rocket and Carol kept arguing.
"T'was a mild subduction under the African plate," Okoye answered.
"Do we have a visual? How are we handling it?" Nat asked.
"Nat. It's an earthquake under the ocean. We handle it by not handling it," Okoye deadpanned. It was clear Natasha was stressing so much. Like she needed something to do with her time.
"Carol, are we seeing you here next month?" Nat asked.
"Not likely."
"What? You gonna get another haircut?" Rocket asked. He was referring to the recent haircut Carol had gotten. It was very short but it suit her style a lot. It was like Makena liked to call a "lesbian-cut". Carol didn't even argue when she said that because she wasn't exactly wrong.
"Listen, fur face. I'm covering a lot of territory. The things that are happening om Earth are happening everywhere. On thousands of planets." Carol pointed out.
"All right, all right. That's a good point."
"So, you might not see me for a long time."
"Alright. Um, any updates on Makena? Anyone hear from her lately?" Nat asked, worried. Makena had went offline a while ago, she stopped checking in and the only people she recently spoke to were Rocket and Carol. Nat knew she was still trying to grieve and put Shuri in her past and move on with her life but she knew Makena was struggling.
"I talked to her yesterday. She said she was headed to Japan after spending some time with Thor, not sure why." Carol said.Β
"Yeah I talked to her yesterday as well. But I can't tell you why she's going there, I promised," Rocket added. Nat looked at him with a glare, "Tell me, Rocket." Shd demanded.
Rocket sighed, "Alright fine. She's headed to Tokyo to be exact. She's cutting a deal with some guy by the name of Han. She told me she was gonna help him rob some kind of casino in return for some drugs."
Nat furrowed her brows in confusion, "Why would she need drugs? She told me she doesn't touch drugs. It's what killed her mom."
"Yeah uhm the catch is, they make her hallucinate. Ya know, see things, people to be exact," Rocket mumbled, a bit guilty he hadn't told anyone yet. To be fair he did try to convince Makena to stay away from them.
"They help her hallucinate the princess. I've heard of them. Her father had a book about them. I assume the amount she's taking is not healthy," Okoye spoke, concerned for Makena herself.
Nat sighed and nodded, already knowing what she was gonna do. "All right. Uh, well..this channel's always active. So, if anything goes sideways, anyone's making trouble where they shouldn't, comes through me."

Makena laughed as she scrolled through movies on her laptop. "Did you seriously just ask me to put on Mean Girls?" Makena looked over to Shuri who laid next to her.
"Don't judge me! I heard some girls chatting about it at the market!" Shuri exclaimed, flailing her arms around dramatically. Makena shook her head in amusement and clicked on the movie. "So, are we going to address the elephant in the room?" Shuri questioned.
"Whatever do you mean?" Makena mumbled, looking at the movie.
"Don't play stupid with me love. You know exactly what I mean," Shuri said, sitting up more to look at Makena with caring eyes.
Makena sighed and shut the computer with a huff. She stood up off the bed and leaned against the wall. "Oh come on. Don't look at me like that."
"Like what?"
"Like how she would look at me! Those eyes, the hair, the everything. You look and talk just like her!" Makena exclaimed, a tear rolling down her cheek. "You care...just like her." Makena sniffled.
"Isn't that the whole point?" Shuri asked, tilting her head with a slight frown.
"Yeah, but...it just hurts, ya know? Everytime I see you it reminds me of what I don't have. And what I still want. But I can never get it back and it's driving me insane. I've tried, every single day to get over her and I just can't. I went on a date and the thought of doing things with that person that I want to do with her makes me feel sick. What's worse is that she would want me to move on."
Makena slid down against the wall, her knees pulled to her chest as she sobbed. Makena looked to her right seeing Shuri was now sat next to her. "Maybe you just need to grieve her properly. Go to Wakanda and grieve her. The more you keep taking this drug to see me, the more you will drive yourself crazy. But what do I know? I'm just your subconscious." Shuri shrugged, a frown forming on her face.
Makena just sat there for hours, sitting and doing nothing but think of how her life with Shuri would be. What they'd probably be doing right now. How Shuri would comfort her. Touch her. Tell her how much she loved her. Make her feel loved when nobody else could. But she knew she'd never get that with her. Or so she thought.
Makena stood up and began to grind up more of the drug to take. It wore off two hours ago and she just needed to hear Shuri's voice again. It's the only thing that kept her sane all these years.
As she poured it into the tea bag and dropped it into the hot water the door had opened slowly. Makena raised a brow and grabbed her gun in the back of her pants.
Makena just continued what she was doing and felt the two people turn the corner, now standing behind her. "Before you decide to make the biggest mistake of your life, I should warn you that I don't show mercy," Makena stated, or more like warned. Makena pulled out her gun and turned around, aiming it directly at the woman's head.
"Nat?" Makena scrunched her brows in confusion.
"Can you put the gun down please?" Nat requested.
Makena sighed and put the gun back in her pants. "What the hell are you doing here? Did Rocket tell you where I was? Oh that little blabbering muppet." Makena grumbled.
"Do you always point a gun at someone when you hear a noise?" Nat questioned. Makena turned around, a small smile wanting to cover her lips as she got deja vu to when Shuri said something similar to that.
"Maybe. What hell is Hawkeye doing here? Thought he went a killing spree. Very impressive by the way," Makena mumbled, turning to look at the duo with the black mug in her hand.
"You both happened to be in Tokyo. Thought I'd kill two birds with one stone," Nat shrugged.
Makena scoffed, "mhm, and what do you mean by that?" Makena walked over to the thermostat and turned on the heat.
"Makena, we found a way to bring everyone back. And it's legit this time," Nat explained.
Nat flinched as the mug shattered when it hit the floor. Makena didn't even flinch when the hot water hit her feet and the glass shattered all over the floor. Makena took a shaky breath and turned around slowly, her eyes watering. "Did you, Nat? Because we thought that five years ago and here we are. I'm losing my mind and I'm done having hope! I'm done, Nat!"
Makena shook her head and grabbed a towel, setting it over the mess and walking back over to the table. "You can do this without me. And when this fails, I'll be glad to tell you 'I told you so'," Makena stated blantly.
"Ya know, when you went offline I just assumed you needed some space. I didn't realize how much you were struggling. I'm sorry, Kena," Nat said, a tear falling from her eye as she watched Makena sit at the table.
"No no, don't apologize. It's nobody's fault, just my own. Because for some goddamn reason I just can't seem to let her go. But no it's perfectly fine. Okay? Because I am handling it. So you can go now." Makena shook her head, trying to mask her emotions but her shaky hands didn't help that fact.
"And by handling it, you mean taking drugs to hallucinate her?" Nat countered and Makena looked up and licked her lips, slighty nodding. "Maybe, maybe not. What's it to you?"
"I'm worried about you Kena. We all are. This isn't healthy. But I can help you. We can bring everyone back, Kena. We can bring her back." Nat said, taking Makena's hands in her own. Clint stood nearby, leaning on the wall and looking around the hotel room. He didn't know who Kena was until Nat told him about her and why they needed to come and get her. Now he was beginning to understand why Nat cared about her so much.
"She isn't coming back. None of them are. Okay? And I've accepted that," Makena stated, standing up and grabbing her coat from the closet.
"So what are you gonna do now Kena? Take more drugs, throw your life down the drain like your mother did." Nat said, she knew Makena wasn't gonna listen so now she had to pull out the tough love.
"What did you just say?"
"You heard me. Makena, we finally found a way to bring everyone back and so I'm asking you to come with me and help us." Nat said, standing up and stepping closer to Makena who's back was turned.
Makena shook her head in denial and turned around, "There is no way to bring them back! Okay Nat? Just forget about it and move the hell on!"
"For someone who's talking about moving on, you sure haven't," Nat countered. Clint popped open Makena's suitcase and a hologram of a time travel machine was sketched out. They all looked at it for a few seconds before Makena slammed the suitcase shut and shook her head slowly. "You don't understand, Nat."
"Then let me, let me understand and I can help you."
"Natasha, I didn't say it back." Nat looked down, sadness washing over her features. "She told me she loved me and I didn't say it back. You have no idea how much that has been eating me alive. I've spent five years trying to look for some kind of solution to bring everyone back and I have gotten nothing. So forgive me for losing hope."
Nat sighed and gently cupped Makena's face. "I know I can't understand what you're going through, but I can do my best to help you. Just come with us, let us help you. And we can bring everyone back together." Nat wiped the tear that fell from Makena's eye and smiled softy at the younger girl.
"Okay, I'll go." Makena gave in. "But if this doesn't work, I don't know what I'm gonna do, Nat."
"It will, I know it will." Nat said confidently.
"Steve said that last time."
"But this time it's gonna be different. We have more hands with us."
"Okay, fine."
"Oh yeah, and Happy Birthday sweetie," Nat smiled.
Makena let out a scoff of amusement, "Jesus you sound like my mom."
"I wouldn't say mom, more of a big sister," Nat smiled.
"Mhm, okay old lady."
"Hey I am not that old!"
"Yes you are," Clint but in and Nat gasped in shock. "Are you seriously taking her side?!"
"What? No! I'm just agreeing with her."
"That's taking her side!"
"I don't think it works like that."
