𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫

I sat holding a scroll inside my winglet cave at JMA. I wanted to write something down, but no words came. I sighed. I had been working on the gift all week, but I just couldn't figure out what to say. The subject was sensitive. I went back to work, writing something down and then scribbling over it.

"That's horrible," I silently scold myself.

I groan. Why am I so bad at this? A soft tapping sounds behind me, and I shove the scroll behind me and turn. Kinkajou is standing in the doorway, her talon gently tapping the cave wall. I force a smile, and Kinkajou walks towards me with an amused expression.

"You can't fool me, Moon." She says, sitting next to me and grabbing the scroll from behind me.

"Hey!" I protest, reaching for it. Kinkajou laughs and scans the scroll.

She shrugs. "It's just a bunch of scribbles." She said. "Whats that about?"

I sigh, taking the scroll back. "I'm writing.....a letter. For someone."

Kinkajou cocked her head. "That's very vague." She said. "You'll have to be more specific."

I sigh again, then smooth out the slightly crumpled scroll on the floor. "I made up my mind." I tell her, starting to write again. And starting to scratch my writing out again.

Kinkajou grinned, her scales an excited shade of yellow. "You did?!" She exclaimed, bouncing up and down on her talons.

I pull her down, and her scales return to their usual color. "Who'd you choose?" She whispered excitedly.

I smile lopsidedly at her. "You'll just have to wait and see." I say firmly, turning away from her.

She moved in front of me again. "But I don't wanna wait!" She complained. "I wanna know!"

I just grin and keep writing, a flow of words finally coming. Kinkajou peered over my shoulder, glancing at the scroll. I shove her away and cover it with my wing, blocking her.

She groans. "Come on, Moon!" She says impatiently. "Just tell me!"

I just shake my head. Kinkajou grumbles something under her breath that I'm pretty sure had the words Moon and Idiot in it. Then she leaves the cave. I sigh with relief, letting down my wing and relaxing as I write. No other dragons interrupted me, and within an hour I had a letter that I was satisfied with.

I slipped out of the cave with the scroll tucked in one talon. Making my way across to Winter and Qibli's cave. I glanced both ways and peered inside, making sure nobody was there. Then I carefully placed the scroll inside and left quickly, my heart pounding and my head hoping that I made the right choice.

After lunch, Kinkajou returned, this time followed by Winter and Qibli. I felt my pulse quicken. They smiled at me, Qibli's warm eyes meeting mine. I smiled back, then glanced at Winter. His pale blue scales glittered, and I felt my heart flutter. I smiled nervously at him, wondering if either dragon had found the letter.

Kinkajou met my eyes, twitching her tail the slightest bit in the direction of Winter. I just shrug, smiling mischievously at her. She frowns. Winter and Qibli exchange a confused look. I smile again and sit down, pulling out yet another scroll and writing a short message to Kinkajou.

Wait & see.
