physical description:
✭・.・✫ carmine has always been a pretty girl. she had smooth skin, shiny red hair, and a dazzling smile that could charm even the most callous person. district 2, though a career district, is known for its skill and strength, rather than the physical looks of its tributes, but carmine took special care to keep up her appearance prior to her own games. the same applied to after, though for different reasons.
the left side of her face is covered in jagged scars and her eye, which used to be blue, is now a milky white and usually covered by a patch or her hair.

✭・.・✫ the 68th hunger games: carmine was seventeen when she won her games. she survived using flint and steel to start fires, which gave her just enough light to see her opponents. because the terrain was rocky, she would use her fires to lure in other tributes, then would jump down from higher ledges to surprise them. she nearly lost to a boy from district 10 who incapacitated her with a cattle prod, however, in his arrogance, he underestimated carmine's strength and she pushed him over a cliff edge.
✭・.・✫ the 75th hunger games: carmine was reaped for the 75th hunger games alongside brutus from district 2. she broke off their alliance to join finnick, but was separated from him and the group during the battle at the cornucopia. instead, she teamed up with joanna, beetee and wiress until everyone was reunited on the beach. when katniss destroyed the dome during their escape, carmine was electrocuted and was without a heartbeat for several minutes, before being revived by haymitch abernathy aboard the escape ship.

✭・.・✫ the 76th hunger games: when coin presented the idea of an honorary hunger games involving the children of the capitol, carmine voted yes. even though she was from district 2, arguably the richest district in panem, she wanted the capitol to suffer the same way the districts had. more importantly, she was grieving finnick's death and wanted revenge against snow for his death. carmine replaced enobaria's vote for a new game.

✭・.・✫ carmine is usually described as being persuasive and cunning. she often used her looks to get by in life, usually to persuade others to do what she wanted. it worked almost too well and carmine grew up with a sense that she was better than everyone else, much like her fellow careers. she went into the games with that same attitude and came out a completely different person. while she maintained her cleverness and wit, she became very closed off and resentful, often taking her anger out on those closest to her.
background:
✭・.・✫ despite being born into the richest career district, carmine comes from a less fortunate family. her father was once a prized blacksmith whose weapons were sought after by the capital, many of which were used in the games. however, after an unfortunate accident left him disabled, he lost his acclaim and much of his income. carmine, aged 17, volunteered for the games in place of an 18 year old career, with the hope of bringing honor back to her household through winning.
carmine won the 68th hunger games, a particularly brutal game where the tributes were kept in perpetual darkness the entire duration of the fight. the gamemakers created the arena so that it was always night and for almost two weeks, the tributes fought each other by firelight and small lights they were sent by sponsors. carmine won her games by heating her weapons over a fire and attacking anyone with the white-hot metal who dared to come close enough.
life after the games was difficult time for carmine. even though she had brought fame back to her family's name, she had also lost a great deal of herself in the arena, much of which was tied to her looks. she fell into a depressive state after undergoing months of treatments for her scars, none of which were able to minimize the damage. she was forced by president snow to wear a patch over her eye and have her hair or makeup styled to cover her scars. it was then that her allegiance to the capitol began to change.
