AS MAEVE AND CHARLIE ENTERED THE VENUE, ALL EYES WERE ON THEM. those eyes belonging to the people she considered her family. she takes a deep breath before looking over to charlie who had no clue all eyes were on them, he was too busy looking over the nicely decorated venue

"sister!" a voice calls out catching the two's attention

a huge smile immediately tugged on maeve's lips "munchkin" she grinned as sofia hugged her "you look beautiful"

sofia's eyes lighten up, she loved the way maeve always made her feel like she was the most beautiful girl in the world. sofia tries to hide her rosy cheeks "sister" she sighs before realizing charlie was next to her. she gave maeve a smirk "hi charlie, it's nice to see you again" she smiles recalling when dean took her down to seattle

"well, well, well" another voice spoke up. maeve looked up to see callie with her hands folded against her chest. she looked charlie up and down, taking in his appearance. she furrows her brows before looking at maeve who was giving her a scold look. callie rolled her eyes before extending her hand out to charlie "i'm callie, sofia's mom"

charlie took her hand and shook it "nice to meet you, i'm charlie"

"oh i know, mark kept going on and on about how you aren't maeve's—" she cut herself off when maeve let out a cough signaling for her to cut it out "you know what" she chuckled awkwardly "i'm gonna go find my wife. come on sofia"

as they left, maeve wanted to just bolt out of the room. she glanced over at charlie "come on" she gestured for him to follow her towards their table

seeing as the venue was already full, the two had to push past people, before they could reach their tables, a voice spoke up "so, you're just gonna walk past me and not say anything?"

maeve furrows her brows before looking over her shoulder to see her godfather, derek shepherd hand in hand with her godmother, meredith grey. alex karev just behind them "why must you hate me god?" she thought to herself

"hi derek" she forces a smile as she hugs him

"it's godfather to you" he points to a finger as the two pull away. maeve playfully rolls her eyes "you must be charlie" derek said as he extends his hand out to the green eyed brunette beside maeve

"yes sir, it's nice to meet you" charlie responds

"please, call me derek" derek says as he sends charlie a smile "this is my wife, meredith. also maeve's godmother"

meredith couldn't help but narrow her eyes, trying to read the boy and his intentions with her goddaughter "it's nice to meet you charlie, you're the talk of the town" she teases as she sends him a nod

a small awkward snicker leaves his lips "so, this is him?" alex finally speaks up, he furrows his brows "i thought mark was just exaggerating" he raised a brow. he turns to maeve "he's right" he shrugs as he hints that charlie was differently not his type. and with that he walks away

derek cleared his throat, before his attention turns to the beautiful bride that was making her way towards the four "hi" she smiled at charlie "i'm lexie grey—well s-sloan now. lexie sloan" she stutters nervously with a soft chuckle

lexie was the first to bring charlie in a hug. as the two pulled away charlie sent her a grateful smile "i'm charlie"

now that maeve was looking at the two, she realized the reason she got along with charlie was because he reminds her of lexie, in the best way possible "there you are" a voice spoke up behind lexie

mark sloan placed his arms around his wife, kissing the top of her head, he glanced over to his daughter and her date. she felt lexie nudge him, he sighs "i didn't get to properly introduce myself earlier, i'm mark sloan" he signals over to his daughter "maeve's father"

"i'm charlie, it's nice to finally meet you sir. maeve here talks a lot about you" he says causing mark to raise his brows

"all good things i hope" mark looked to maeve

"not really" she stated bluntly

"what the fuck" mark mutters causing the four to furrow their brows

"i was just kid—

meredith cut her goddaughter off "did you guys not uninvite him?" she scolded at lexie and mark

maeve furrows her brows "wait maeve! don't look" lexie tries to stop her, but curiosity got the best of her

it only took a second for their eyes to find each other's. her heart deflated as she noticed who was standing beside him. not only was damian and nova beside him, but monica

she turned right around to face her father and lexie "i thought you were gonna uninvite him!" mark immediately told his wife

"i-i must have forgotten" she sighs "maeve i'm so sorry" she pleads sadly

"because in the end, it's always you and me... even if we're just friends" deans words echoed in her mind. she met eyes with a anxious lexie "hey, lex. it's okay" she sent her a reassuring smile "dean and i are friends" she shrugs

"what?" mark, derek, and meredith question quietly

despite her heart being deflated by seeing dean with monica, a small part of maeve was happy that dean was happy "were friends, so lex calm down" she smiles at her stepmother. she hoops her arm around charlie's forearm "well, we're gonna go to our table" maeve points to where jackson was sitting with amelia and link

dean salvatore sat about four tables down from where maeve was sitting. his table consisted with his girlfriend monica, damian, nova, and nessa. from the moment he entered he tried so hard to keep his eyes off of maeve. he would clench his jaw here and there as he watched maeve and charlie talk among themselves, maeve even laughing at his jokes. he knew she had every right to move on, hell he was in a relationship, but a big part of him still loved the green eyed goddess

as he watches her make her way towards the bar area, he chugs the last remaining of his beer and makes the excuse of needing a new one. damian asking him to bring him one as well. dean only nodded before making his way towards maeve

maeve was just watching as the bartender prepared her margarita, when she felt someone walk up next to her, making his presence known he speaks up "can i get a corona" he tells the bartender who nods

maeve shifts in her place, she could already feel everyone's eyes on them "you look beautiful" he spoke, but now towards her

she felt her heart speed up slightly, she turns to her body to face him "thank you" she says taking in his appearance, dean salvatore rarely dressed up. so seeing him in a nice black tux was a nice sight "you don't look too bad yourself" she sent him a smile

dean couldn't help but match her smile "how are you?" he asks curiously

maeve slowly nods "i-i'm good" she admits. of course a part of her is still hurting without him, but that part is slowly shrinking "you're album is pretty much done" she grins as she recalls their last conversation

a small snicker leaves his lips "can't wait to hear it" he gives her his signature smirk

maeve smiled "how are you?" it was her turn to ask

he didn't answer just yet, throwing a quick glance to his table. finding monica talking with nessa. maeve followed his line of sight. seeing her three friends with his new girlfriend

"i hope your happy" maeve spoke up catching him off guard

"i wish you all the best, really" she confessed

dean nodded as he looked down to the floor before looking over to charlie "likewise" he admitted, before looking over at her. she furrows her brows "in case you didn't know, he likes you. i caught onto that the second i met him"

maeve glanced over to charlie, it was like he felt eyes on him, so as he turns he caught eyes with maeve and sent her a smile. she couldn't help but smile back. a small pang hit dean's heart, but he knew he was good for him, and she deserved good "save me a dance?" he asks her once she meets eyes with him

maeve couldn't help but smile "okay" she spoke before snickering. she grabbed her now ready margarita that was placed in front of her. she goes to walk away, but stops and looks over her shoulder "did you finally learn how to dance?"

dean couldn't help but snicker as he shook his head "nope" and with that she walked away and dean watched her, up until she took her seat beside charlie

he sighs in content before grabbing his beer and heads towards his table. as he sits beside monica who leans over and plants a kiss on his cheek "wait, where's my beer?" damian asks

as the evening goes by, it was finally time for the bride and groom dance. maeve was extremely nervous, she hoped that her father and now stepmother loved the song, charlie and her wrote

the guitarist softly strung the familiar strings as the pianist played the familiar keys. mark extends a hand out to lexie which she gladly takes, he twirls her around before pulling her in and placed his hands on her waist

charlie and her were on the small performers stage. the two stood a few feet apart. maeve begins to softly sing the first verse as her eyes stayed glued on the bride and groom "out on our own. dreamin' in a world that we both know, it's out of our control, but if shit hits the fan, we're not alone"

the green eyed brunette threw a quick glance at the guest, find meredith recording her instead of the newly wedded. a smile formed on her lips before she continued to the pre-chorus "'cause you've got me and you know that i've got you and i know"

charlie's voice caught her attention, making her turn her head to connect eyes with him. she noticed him start to walk closer to her "so this is it, that's how it ends. i guess there's nothing more romantic than dyin' with your friends and i'm not sorry for myself, i wouldn't want to spend a minute lovin' anybody else"

maeve couldn't help but feel her heart do a little flip, she met him half way, their eyes glued together as they moved to the pre-chorus "'cause you've got me and you know, that i've got you and i know"

before they moved to the chorus, she heard jackson let out a holler, making her find him with a smile "if the tide takes california. i'm so glad i got to hold ya and if the sky falls from heaven above. oh, i know i had the best time fallin' into love, we've been livin' on a fault line and for a while, you were all mine. i've spent a lifetime givin' you my heart i swear that i'll be yours forever, 'til forever falls apart 'til forever falls apart" as the two catch their breath, clapping is heard all around them. maeve is the first to remove her eyes from charlie. a smile formed on her lips as she see's mark sloan lock lips with his wife. as he pulls away, lexie and him glance at the two singers and throw a thumbs up towards them

she turns to charlie, a chuckle leaves her lips before she wraps her hands around him "i'm pretty sure that this wins you a few extra points with my dad" she grins as she pulls away

charlie let out a small snicker "let's hope so"
