As soon as the god of mischief surrendered to the three heroes, they took him inside the Quinjet and made him sit down on one of the chairs on the right side of the advanced aircraft. The god didn't utter a single word while he was being brought inside, the only exception being a subtle but devilish smirk directed to the Canadian.
Loki had him in the palm of his hand, and Logan knew it. Pointless to say he hated that, he hated to be controlled by someone else. The god could have been his only chance to know what happened to him, who he really was. Did he have a family before all of this? Has he always been different, or did something happen to him? Why didn't he remember anything from his past? What was his past? Who gave him the watch? Why was it broken? And why did he still have it? Why did it feel so important to him? Hundreds of questions flooded his mind as he walked inside the Quinjet. A thousand doubts tormented him as he raised his cowl. A strong feeling of frustration invaded him as he lit his cigar. And, while the smoke he aspired left his lungs, only one thought manifested in his mind as he was looking at the scenery outside of the window: 'I need to know'.
While he was lost in his thoughts, Natasha kept as always her focus while piloting the Quinjet in the thunderous night. Unbeknownst to the Canadian, even Natasha had her doubts about their win. The god wasn't tired, and certainly wasn't in a disadvantaged position against the three men in the aircraft, as he had no problem facing two enhanced humans. So why did he give up that easily? Did they really win, or did they just assured their loss with his capture? What plan could he have crafted that they were ignoring? And why wasn't this talkative egomaniac uttering a single word now? All questions that Natasha, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't find the answers to. As she kept pressing buttons, a call arrived from the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. himself, and Natasha didn't waste a second to answer
Natasha: "Natasha here."
The answer arrived immediately
Fury: "You got him?"
Natasha answered while nodding
Natasha: "Yes."
Another question came from him
Fury: "Said anything?"
And Natasha, glancing back at Loki with the same stoic expression on her face, answered
Natasha: "Not a word."
Before cutting the call, the director replied one last time
Fury: "Just get him here, we're low on time."
As Natasha cut the call she moved her attention back ahead of he, while more thunders erupted from the sky, and Romanoff couldn't but ask herself how did the weather change so fast.
In the meantime Steve and Tony were standing in the middle of the craft, Rogers had his cowl raised and Stark his helmet removed. As the man out of time glanced at Loki, he said to the millionaire with an ushered tone
Steve: "I don't like it."
And Tony, glancing first at the captain and then at the god, replied
Tony: "What, Rock of Ages giving up so easily?"
Even if Tony was dismissing the matter, Steve too was starting to have a few doubts about what happened. He tried first hand what the god was capable of doing: he resisted both his and Logan's attacks with too much ease for him to give up so suddenly. And the soldier was starting to ask himself what was Loki's play as he answered to Tony's sarcastic comment
Steve: "I don't remember it being ever that easy. This guy packs a wallop. Plus, I've never seen anyone dismissing so easily James' attacks."
The millionaire turned to look at the soldier with a confused expression upon hearing that name, and asked him
Tony: "You mean Freddy Krueger over there?"
Steve just now noticed he called him James again. He didn't know why, all of a sudden, the Canadian couldn't remember what happened and what the two have been through, but he was determined to find out the reason why, after that situation was over. Tony, curious about the captain's knowledge of the man with claws, asked
Tony: "I'm curious, from what I've read on his dossier, which is almost nothing, he seems to have quite the temperament. How did a boy-scout like you know someone like him?"
Steve turned his head to look at Logan, who was still looking outside the window and not really paying attention to the two, and said
Steve: "He's one of the best soldiers I know, we've been through a lot. I still can't believe he's here. And he's not lost his polish."
Then Tony, in total Tony's fashion, replied sarcastically
Tony: "Still, you are pretty spry, for an older fellow. What's your thing, pilates?"
But Steve, having literally no idea what was Tony talking about, and having registered only the fact that probably Tony was mocking him, asked in confusion
Steve: "What?"
And Tony, understanding the reason why the captain was confused, answered
Tony: "It's like calisthenics. You might have missed a couple of things, you know, doing time as a Capsicle."
By now, Steve was sure he was being mocked. Despite having known Howard Stark, he could tell that his old friend's son was very different, even if he shared a couple of similarities. One of the differences being the fact that, opposite to the millionaire's father, he found Tony's sarcasm quite annoying. That paired with the fact that Stark's son fought mainly for himself made Rogers wonder if it was actually a good idea to involve him in the operation. Steve showed an annoyed expression on his face as he said
Steve: "Fury didn't tell me he was calling you in."
Tony picked up on Cap's tone, realizing that he was pretty susceptible about the matter he brought up about the his past, so he limited to reply with
Tony: "Yeah, there's a lot of things Fury doesn't tell you."
Suddenly, to interrupt the overall tranquility, thunders and lightnings sounded in the proximity of the Quinjet, and even more in the far clouds. The loud noises woke Logan from his dark thoughts and doubts, as he now really looked at the scenery, noticing the high number of lightnings appearing in the sky. The amount of thunders heard got higher as Natasha voiced what she had been thinking all the time
Natasha: "Where's this coming from?"
Throughout the Quinjet high vibrations could be felt as they shook the entire aircraft. Logan nervously held onto the first thing he could grab: the Canadian wasn't scared of anything, but he deeply hated flying. Logan didn't know the extension of his healing powers, but he wasn't so reckless to test them beyond their limits, unless it was absolutely necessary. Unbeknownst to him, he wasn't the only one worried in that moment, as the god of mischief himself was eyeing the sky with a scared expression. Tony and Steve noticed his behavior, and the soldier was the first one to speak with a mocking tone as he eyed the god with an emotionless face
Steve: "What's the matter? Scared of a little lightning?"
Loki didn't budge a bit, instead he merely looked at Steve and replied
Loki: "I'm not overly fond of what follows."
The Asgardian's words did nothing to ease the tension that built up in the Quinjet, with Natasha literally flying in the dark, Steve and Tony getting a little worried about what could possibly scare so much the god, and Logan doing his absolute best to not puke from the turbulences they were experiencing. As more thunders and lightnings were roaring in the sky around them, suddenly they heard something heavy hit the top of the aircraft, almost as if something landed on them. The three men shared a knowing look, then they proceeded to get ready. Logan and Steve brought down their cowls and Tony, after putting on his helmet, pushed the button to open the ramp and walked forward confidently towards the opening with all the intention to inspect personally what or who hit them. As soon as Steve noticed what he was doing, he yelled at him
Steve: "What are you doing?!"
And, right on cue, from outside entered a man. He was tall, with long blond hair, he had a battle armor with a long red cape, he also sported a shiny hammer as his personal weapon. Seeing his not-so-friendly expression, and deducing that the blond man was there to get Loki, Tony extended his hand to shoot a repulsor beam at the newcomer. But, before he could do that, the blond warrior quickly walked a step forward and hit Tony with his hammer, sending him away. After that Logan quickly popped out his claws and tried to attack the warrior with the red cape, but the latter grabbed him by the neck and threw him out of the Quinjet. Then he picked Loki by the throat, yanked him up, and flew outside by twirling his hammer and yanking it forward. It all happened way too fast for the captain to register what happened as Tony stood up and commented sarcastically
Tony: "Now there's that guy..."
From the cockpit Natasha, who was just able to hear the commotion and not see what happened, asked the men at the back
Natasha: "Another Asgardian?"
And Steve, now finally starting to grasp the situation, asked
Steve: "Think the guy's friendly?"
And Tony, having already had enough of the situation, replied
Tony: "Doesn't matter: if he frees Loki, or kills him, the Tesseract is lost."
Noticing that Stark was starting to walk towards the ramp, Steve said
Steve: "We need to go search for Logan and retrieve him."
But Tony, glancing back at him, replied
Tony: "You go retrieve Garfield down there, I'll handle Blondie with a Hammer."
Tony was about to fly outside, before Steve called out again
Steve: "Stark, we need a plan of attack!"
But Tony, stopping at the end of the ramp, glanced again behind at the soldier and said
Tony: "I have a plan: Attack."
After that Tony propelled himself forward, outside of the Quinjet, with the help of his repulsors. Steve sighed to himself dejected, realizing that, if he knew Logan, by now he was already running to the direction of the god of mischief. Helping Tony not to die was a more important thing to think about at the moment. So, reluctantly, Cap turned to his right and picked up a parachute. Turning around Natasha, realizing what Steve was about to do said to him
Natasha: "I'd sit this one out, Cap."
But, of course, Steve wasn't one to sit anything out, so he replied
Steve: "I don't see how I can. Logan should be fine, but try to look for him and help him just in case he might need it."
Natasha felt moved by the care the soldier was showing to the Canadian, and wondered what was the thing the captain saw in him to care so much. As Steve was putting on the parachute, Nat answered him
Natasha: "I'll do my best. Are you sure you want to do this? This guys come from legends, they're basically gods."
As Steve secured firmly on him the straps of the parachute, he answered with confidence
Steve: "There's only one God, ma'am. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that."
After pronouncing those words, Cap grabbed his shield and held it firmly on his arm as he ran towards the ramp and jumped down, diving into the dark with no ounce of fear in his eyes.
As Logan fell hitting numerous branches and trees, he was now really hoping his healing factor could protect him from such a terrible fall. After he hit the ground with a loud thud, digging a bit the dirt due to his bones' heavyness, he groaned in pain for a few seconds as he found difficult to breath for a moment or two. After slowly regaining air in his lungs, he started to slowly detach himself from the ground, grunting painfully with every small movement. Finally he was able, after stumbling for a few seconds, to stand on his feet and, after cracking his neck a bit, he started to sniff the air for Loki's smell. He picked up on it very fast, as the god's scent was all but peculiar, and Logan also piqued another scent: something was burning, and the hairs at the back of his neck were starting to stand up. He waited another two seconds, and saw suddenly a huge lightning bold directing to a specific point on the ground. Logan didn't have to be a genius to know that that's where he was supposed to go, and he started to sprint rapidly in the direction of the bolt. To say that Logan was angry would be an understatement: he was fuming. An unknown blond guy just came and threw him outside of a flying aircraft towards a possible death, and now the Canadian couldn't wait to give an equally friendly treatment to the punk with the cape.
As he ran through the forest, Logan could hear loud commotions and grunts of fighting, along with many metal noises coming from a few meters ahead of him. That thought motivated the Canadian to run even faster at an inhuman speed. As he surpassed another couple of trees he reached an open field full of broken pieces of wood on the ground, along with numerous signs of battle. And, right on cue, Logan spotted Tony and the caped warrior fighting in the right middle of the battlefield. Considering that the blond was an Asgardian, the fact that Tony managed to keep up with him for all that time was truly remarkable, and Logan couldn't but respect the man in the suit of armor for that. The man with claws saw the Asgardian dodge Tony's attack, then punch him on his side and on his back. Logan popped out his claws and started to run towards the caped warrior as the latter grabbed Stark and threw him on the ground, his metal suit doing weird noises at the impact. Then, just as the warrior called his hammer back in his hand, ready to attack again, Logan drew his attention with his battle cry as he jumped on him, plunging his claws in his shoulders. The Asgardian yelling in pain, surprised by the sudden assault, as the Wolverine said to him menacingly
Logan: "A dick move to throw me out of the jet, bub, now you've really pissed me off."
As Logan was distracting the blond, Tony used his repulsors to fly. And, in doing so, he swept the Asgardian off of his feet, making him fall face first on the ground and, at the same time, letting Logan's claws pierce his back even more. This movement caused the god to let out a pained yell as he tried to call his hammer back, but Logan saw the familiar movement his hand was making, so he retreated his right fist from his back and pierced his claws through the warrior's arm with an animalistic growl. The god released another yell as he decided he had enough of that, so he raised himself on his feet. He ignored Logan's continuous piercing attacks on his back, grabbed the mortal with both of his arms and threw him away with all the strength he could master. The caped warrior had no time to recover from his injuries as Tony flew down from the sky and punched him in the face, making him stumble forward. Logan hit a tree when the god threw him away, but the adrenaline pumping inside of him was too much for him to feel any pain, so he didn't waste a second before running towards the god while unleashing his classic battle cry. But, before the three could pummel one another again, a vibranium shield flew by and hit all three of them. The hit wasn't that hard: it was meant only to draw the attention of the three men towards the owner of the american shield: Captain America. He didn't waste any second to drop to the ground from the tree he was standing on in order to stop them, as he yelled
Steve: "Hey! That's enough!"
Logan eyed with annoyance the man out of time, as he was still fuming for what the god did to him before. And, out of annoyance and rage, he answered
Logan: "Stay the fuck out of this, Rogers! This cosmic asshole needs to be taught a fucking lesson!"
The god with the hammer showed no fear and, with his hammer held tightly in his right hand, he came forward and replied
???: "Then come at me, you mere mortal!"
But Steve had officially lost his patience, as he put a hand on Logan's shoulder and slightly pushed him away, while saying with authority to Logan and the other two behind him
Steve: "I said...that's enough! All three of you!"
Logan was fuming even more now, but he realized that they needed to know more about that guy, before he could really start to unleash his inner rage. That's why he decided to take a few calming deep breaths and, when he felt a bit calmer, he nodded at Steve, who silently thanked him for cooperating. Then Steve directed his next words to the Asgardian, as he said with a more calm and resolute tone
Steve: "Now, I don't know what you plan on doing here."
The warrior walked a step forward as he exclaimed
???: "I've come here to put an end to Loki's schemes!"
But Steve didn't trust a bit the warrior before him: he didn't forget how he basically came out all of a sudden and threw his friend out of the Quinjet. And because of this, Cap replied to him
Steve: "Then prove it! Put the hammer down."
As soon as Steve said that, Tony intervened quickly to dissuade him from asking him that
Tony: "Uhm, yeah, no! Bad call! He loves his hamme-"
Before he could finish that phrase, the Asgardian hit him with his hammer and sent him flying back. As he saw this, Logan didn't hold back anymore and sprinted towards him with his claws still out. But, as he jumped towards the god, the latter used his hammer to throw a powerful lightning bolt to him, sending the Canadian to a tree as he yelled out in pain. Steve witnessed with worry his old friend collapsing to the ground grunting in pain after hitting the big tree. As he turned again to look at the warrior, he looked beyond enraged as he said
???: "You want to put my hammer down?!"
After saying that, the god leaped high in the air, ready to strike a hard blow to the man in blue, red and white spandex suit. Steve couldn't let himself overthink anything as he, acting out of pure instinct, raised his shield to defend himself. The Asgardian didn't think anything of it, confident that his powerful Mijolnir could overpower everything, and delivered the most powerful blow he could strike right at the center of the shield. What the god could not predict was what came after the weapons' clash: a powerful shockwave, an explosion of pure energy that sent all of them flying back a few meters away, along with many trees that were taken down by the powerful energy blow.
As the atmosphere quieted down, Logan slowly stood up on his feet completely healed by the hits he took just a few moments ago. He walked to the center of the field, careful not to fall by the many broken pieces of wood on the ground. When he finally reached the others, he found them already looking around and at each other. Then Steve, still panting from the blow, asked the others
Steve: "Are we done here?"
He looked at everyone in the eyes to receive confirm, which he did from each one of them. After the little exchange of nods, Logan pulled up his cowl and nodded with a smirk at the Asgardian, saying
Logan: "Nice fight, blondie, I expect a round two some time."
The god and Tony chuckled lightly at this, while Steve slowly shook his head with an amused smirk on his face. After a few seconds, the Asgardian answered to the Canadian
???: "You fought good as well, mortal, I'll certainly join you for a rematch in future."
Logan nodded at that and then, after sniffing the air, asked him while nodding towards a mountain
Logan: "Care to take your fella?"
