39. Two Birds, One Witch
"BOLD ITALICS SPEECH" = Jean Grey
3rd Person POV
Jean Grey opened her eyes, and found herself somewhere that was infact not the Cerebro room. She was somewhere completely else...
This confused her. The Professor had never experienced this mishap as it would allow him to see from a different perspective, but how could she transport herself to a different place?
It was almost like a virtual reality game.
She tried in clicking her neck, but she felt no pain whatsoever, nor anything that needed to be clicked. She fully opened her eyes to make more sense of her situation.
The place she was in looked like a room, a girl's room. She then placed her hand on herself. It was real. But a part of her knew she was still simulating through Cerebro.
It must've been something to do with her powers.
???: You're here.
A young girl's voice softly mumbled, Jean then looked ahead to see a small girl waiting by the doorway. Red hair, E/C eyes. Reminded so much of Y/N.
It was Jeannie.
"You're Jeannie."
Jeannie: Y-Yeah... I brought you here.
The woman was amazed. From what Y/N told her, she knew his daughter was very powerful. And has similar abilities just like her. Even the same name.
"Wow... how?"
Jeannie: We're connected I think.
Marvel Girl nodded and walked to the infant, crouching down and looking into her eyes desperately.
"Jeannie, I need to find your mother. Where is she?"
The urgency of the situation caused the little girl to be overwhelmed, she turned around and pointed ahead to the giant hallway, where Wanda was.
Wanda, however sensed an intruder, and she got away from meditating in the dark arts and she stood up.
The brunette Sokovian slowly turned her head, Jean watching in slight fear as she was caught.
Wanda: Jeannie get away from her.
She knew exactly who Jean Grey was, and Charles. Wanda was the one who initially blocked their telepathic messages.
Jeannie: No!
The little girl yelled back at her corrupted mother, while siding with the taller red head. This angered Wanda, really really much. How could her own daughter speak to her like that?
Wanda: Now!
Jean then took a step forward, noticing the floating darkhold nearby. Maybe, if she were to destroy it, Wanda could return to normal self and make sense.
There was no way at all that she would listen to anyone in this state, no matter what she said.
"Wanda, you have to destroy that book. It's corrupting you."
Wanda: You don't know me.
"I know your husband. So please trust me."
Wanda: My husband is dead.
"He's not I promise. Please, he needs you. The boys are in danger."
This was infuriating the brunette. The five year old got into her room and under her bed, closing her eyes and wishing it was just a bad dream.
She just wanted her mother back.
Wanda made the darkhold disappear, and red swirls of energy began to form in her hand. Jean swallowed air and got her fists ready with pink energy.
It had taken years, but Jean was no longer out of control. She could fully harness her powers without losing control.
Something, Wanda could not do. Which made the Scarlet Witch, even more dangerous.
"I hate to have to do this."
Wanda: Me too, but you and your friend won't leave me alone.
She said before sending a surge of chaos magic at the X-Woman, making her groan at the suddenness of it. This sent her back a few metres, but she used her hands to glide herself upwards and she returned by sending pink waves of psionic energy back at the brunette.
Wanda dodged and flew into Jean, grabbing her by her upper arms and throwing her into a wall. Yet, Jean didn't feel that pain. She wasn't actually there. Just a manifestation from Cerebro and Jeannie.
Jean Grey smirked, as Wanda's hands gripped her wrists and kept her against the wall. This made the brunette confused, why was she smirking?
Suddenly, Wanda was held into a pink force grabbing her harshly from moving, Jean then kicked the woman in the stomach and flew towards her getting ready to blast her.
Wanda got up in time and managed to stop the attack, staring menacingly into the redhead's eyes.
Jean saw the hurt in her eyes for a moment and sympathised with her, a woman who lost the most important people and tried to make it better, but ended up hurting more people. And this time, it was affecting the most important person she had right now, her daughter.
This distraction caused Wanda to send a large force into her, making her feet break the wooden flooring. She was practically skidding across while holding her defense, avoiding the chaos magic to touch her.
Then, something happened.
After her eyes glowed orange, so did her powers and she pushed Wanda back with a harder force of power.
Wanda collapsed, drained and fully in pain. Jean didn't want to hurt her anymore.
But Wanda wasn't going to give up that easily.
"You don't have to do this, Wanda."
Wanda: What other choice do I have.
"Listen to me, I know where your boys are."
Wanda: Stop lying to ME!
Once floating up, Jean started to rattle around the objects in the room, staring into Wanda. She wasn't going to fight. She was going to use the surroundings.
Wanda grunted, feeling the force in energy, she tried to shoot something, but nothing was coming out. She was too weak for the Mutant.
Wanda managed to break through and the two practically conjoined, fighting eachother with different coloured wisps of energy, one hoping to stop the other while one tried to kill.
After a few minutes, a person came into the middle of the scene, it was a small girl covering her ears with tears in her eyes.
She didn't like seeing her mother like this at all, and she was scared of what was going to happen. She breathed in before exerting her entire emotional spectrum out through echoing and loud words.
"STOP!"
Words so blinding that everything halted, the feedback causing Wanda and Jean to fall to the ground and something even more extraordinary.
The darkhold appeared, and started crumbling apart once Jeannie held onto it with orange wisps of energy. She was destroying the thing poisoning her mother.
As the remnants of the small battle cleared up, Wanda got up the same time as the woman she was fighting did, both saw the ruins of the darkhold. As Wanda saw this, she felt confused not knowing that this was causing her mind to be blocked.
Everything now was feeling much clearer.
But as soon as she saw Jean Grey, she initially believed it was her fault and instinctively pushed her away to get to see that her own daughter was crying in the corner.
After Jean was out of sight, Wanda ran to her sobbing little girl and crouched down. Jeannie then flinched when her mother tried to touch her, scared of the unknown creature her mother has become.
Jeannie: D-D-Don't hurt me.
She sniffed, which caused Wanda's heart to shatter into a million pieces, she was so concentrated on finding a way to get her boys back. She ignored her daughter once again.
The brunette's tears leaked through her black eyeshadow. Ashamed of what she had made herself in such a short amount of time.
Wanda: I would never hurt you. Never. I would never hurt anyone.
Jeannie: Y-You did.
Wanda infact did, mentally. She was only coming to soon realise that. And even more, she felt stuck not knowing how she was going to fix this relationship.
She separated from Jeannie, wanting to give the traumatised girl some space. She sat back on a pile of rubble, her hands carrying her head as she refrained as best as she could from crying. But it was no use.
Wanda then felt a hand on her shoulder, she looked above to see Jean Grey.
"Give her time, she's just traumatised."
Jean said softly, as she sat by and consoled the mother.
Wanda: How could I let this happen?
"You have to let go of all that now, Wanda. You can solve all this once you're reunited with your family."
The redhead told the brunette causally, making her nod. She remembered what Jean told her, but this time she was actually believing it.
Wanda: How do I get myself to your universe?
"Charles said that the book of Vishanti allows the wielder to transport through any universe. You just need to find someone who can get you to it."
The witch nodded, exactly knowing who to reach out for. Jean got up and brushed herself off, ready to transport back.
Wanda: This isn't who I am...
She began, touching her fingers timidly as she looked down. Jean nodded and smiled brightly.
"I know. You're a caring and loving mother who wants the best for her family... and eventually, you make the right decisions."
Wanda: Well, thank you for getting rid of this disease.
"I'll see you around."
And with that, she faded away. Back to her reality.
The Scarlet Witch sighed heavily, seeing the damage she caused around this house that was nothing but ash. She saw Jeannie in the corner, curled up like a ball.
Becoming the mother she was, she inched closer and gently. Jeannie peeked through to see her mother being vulnerable aswell.
Wanda: I am really sorry, my sweetheart, for doubting and questioning your intentions...I should have known and stuck to the fact that you are as pure as the water and you can never do anything wrong.
She leaned down, touching her daughter's feet softly. While tears streamed down her face.
The black tips on her fingers started to fade, and the brightness of Wanda's face including her complexion were returning.
Because she was no longer corrupted.
Jeannie started to notice her real mother appearing, causing her to open up her arms slightly.
Wanda: I know you don't want to say anything. But I just want you to know you're my first baby. You've been through so so much... and I failed to notice that.... I promise if you come with me, one last mission... I'll make it up to you for the rest of my life.
She smiled between soft sobs, and Jeannie broke down instantly running into her mother's arms. Both were crying of sadness and joy.
A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path.
Now, she was going to go save Y/N.
But she had to make a final stop.
