The Feast of Starlight - Part Four

Just before he was about to run into the dark opening, Caligo glanced over his shoulder to make sure nobody saw them. But alas, he noticed three figures standing on the small open place between some huge trees and they were gaping at them. Too dumbstruck for the moment to shout an alarm, but that probably wouldn't take too long.

"NΓ‘ngorΓΆth," he cursed in the ancient language. He had hoped they could pass by unnoticed. Caligo held out his pale arm clad in black robes to stop the last five Urgals from following him inside.

"Stay here. Delay them as long as possible."

The Urgals nervously glanced at each other. It could only mean one thing: death. They would never be able to kill all the Elves who were only a few hundred meters away from them.

"You owe me your loyalty," Caligo hissed between his sharp teeth. "If you do not obey I will send you back to theΒ  condenscending place I've found you." His red eyes swam with madness and without any more hesitating, the Urgals drew their weapons. They feared the anger of the Shade more than death itself. They hadn't forgotten yet the Urgals Caligo had set on fire without mercy. The metalic sound rang through the night but couldn't drown out the sound of the feasting Elves.

Caligo grinned wickedly and ran through the opening. He ran as fast as he could and every now and then, he ordered a handful of Urgals to stay behind to take on any persuers. Even the Elves from AlagaΓ«sia would grow tired of battling the 7 feet high monsters. He doubted if that would be any different for the Elves of this inferior land called Middle Earth. He raced through the cave system as if he had been living here for years. But in fact, it were the spirits inside him who were guiding him as they got their orders from Him. The one Caligo had to free from His prison and he was close, so close.

Middle Earth soon would be His, and Caligo would be rewarded for his help.

AmariΓ« swallowed loudly as the monsters came closer, their swords raised and ready to charge. With soft chuckles from seeing their fear written on their faces in the silver moonlight, the creatures slowly and ominously walked towards them.

"Those aren't Orcs," she whispered, suddenly noticing their height and huge, twisted horns on the top of their bald heads.

"Nor are they Uruk-Hai," Ayleen added. She pulled her sword out of the scabbard, but knew they were greatly outnumbered. Arianeth and AmariΓ« didn't even had a weapon. She could never defeat five gigantic monsters on her own.

However, something shimmered in the corner of her eye when Arianeth stepped next to her. The Maia held a thin, rod-shaped piece of metal in her hand. Ayleen slightly raised an eyebrow, wondering what on Arda it was, but Arianeth held it in front of her as if it was some kind of weapon. Alright then. Two against five. Maybe they could bring this to a good ending. But her hope faded away when she saw their immense muscles rolling under their tanned skin when they rolled their shoulders.

"Am," Ayleen said, not taking her eyes of the creatures, "get help."

The Elleth nodded -- which they didn't noticed -- and ran off to warn everyone she passed by. She didn't know how many of the monsters had managed to get inside the Elven King's Halls, but she had the feeling it was a lot.

AmariΓ« flinched and almost skidded to a stop to turn around when the sound of clashing swords, screams and grunts could be heard behind her. Tears were burning behind her eyes, she feared for her friends' lives, but she could not get distracted. She had no power what so ever to help them. The only way was to get help as fast as possible. AmariΓ« took a deep breath and maneuvered between the trees until she had reached the feast again. Here, there was no sign of the fight or nearing menace.

She clutched onto the first Elf she saw. "We're being attacked!" The Ellon gave her a strange look, shook his arm loose and continued to headbang on the music played by The Greenleaves. He completely ignored her, thinking she was just an Elf who had had too much to drink while it probably was him who had had too much. AmariΓ« wanted to smack the back of his head with the palm of her hand, but she contained herself. She had to find one of the company Ayleen had arrived with. They would approachable. Right?

Frantically, AmariΓ« let her eyes fly over the crowd. The Silvan Elves danced like crazy and everything was chaotic. She started to hyperventilate, what if she couldn't warn the others in time? Her sight landed upon a group of Elves who were just staring at the podium. That's when she recognised Arwen, who she knew because she had spend quite a while in Lothlorien in her youth. Arwen would believe her.

AmariΓ« pushed her way through the crowd to reach them and she tried not to hit the ones who were standing on her feet. "Watch it," she hissed at an Elf who bumped into her and almost send her flying through the crowd.

She grabbed Arwen's shoulder, who visibly startled by the sudden touch, and turned her around. "We're being attacked."

Tears were streaming down AmariΓ«'s face, unabling to control them now that she had finally found them. Her whole body shook with fear. She held up her hand far above her head. "Huge, monstrous creatures. They have invaded the Halls. Ayleen and Arianeth are fighting them."

The others all snapped their heads towards the blonde Elleth by hearing her words. In an instance, they all undertook action. Varonwe and Victoria ran towards the band to warn the royal family, whereas the others raced towards the Halls.

Hopefully they weren't too late yet.

Caligo laughed in triumph when he reached the last door. Behind these iron bars was the last seal the Shade had to break. How foolish of this world to keep them all in the same place.

A red shroud appeared over his eyes and turned his vision crimson red as he called upon the magic of one of the thousands of spirits inside him. With a loud bang, the door exploded and hung askew in its hinges. Caligo pushed it away and stepped into the small room.

He held up his hand and the black mist that streamed out of his hands, created a dagger as black as night. Perhaps even darker. A grin played on his thin, cracked lips and he walked towards the small pillar in the middle of the room. On the flat slab lay the last seal. It was rond and golden with a purple gem in the middle. Caligo raised the dagger and jammed it right through it. Again, he felt several spirits fading away as he used their magic to destroy it. Their sacrifice wouldn't be invain, though.

A thunder without impact rumbled through the air and threw everyone several feet backwards.

It was done.

He was free.
