"Ultron knows we're coming. Odds are we'll be riding into heavy fire," Steve spoke up in the jet, as everyone else was inside and they were already headed to the country of Sokovia. "And that's what we signed up for. But the people of Sokovia, they didn't. So our priority is getting them out."

(Y/N) was the one piloting the jet by herself, as the rest of the team was looking back at Steve for what he had to say. She did her best in going at the highest speed she could muster, since she knew that they're was limited time in saving everyone on the country. She could see the line of trees that indicated that they were getting close, and flew pass the Research Base they had attacked a few days prior.

"All they want us to live their lives in peace. And that's not gonna happen today. But we can do our best to protect them. And we can get the job done. We find out what Ultron's been building, we find Romanoff and we clear the field."

"Keep the fight between us," he made sure to emphasize on that. "Ultron thinks we're monsters. That we're what's wrong with the world. This isn't just about beating him. It's about whether he's right."

Once they arrived, (Y/N) made sure to land the jet in a secluded area to not draw that much attention. Everyone headed to their rightful positions, spreading into different parts of the city they were in. (Y/N), along with Wanda, Pietro, Clint and Steve, were in charge of making sure everyone made it out in time, using different tactics to persuade the civilians from leaving their homes.

(Y/N) was standing on a crowded street where thousands of cars were piled in, honking at each other repeatedly as if that would speed things up. There were others who decided on walking, so she made sure that they safely crossed the bridge with no difficulty. (Y/N) counted heads every now and then, to silently reassure herself that she was saving hundreds of lives at the time, but all of those thoughts were washed away when she heard a shriek from afar.

Hundreds, no, thousands of robots, just like Ultron crawled their way towards the bridge. Some opened cracks in the pavement, others escaped out of the water, all (Y/N) could say is that they were too many of them, and were ready for an attack. The robots extended one of their arms forward and it transformed into a pistol, which lit up and immediately fired at her, who posed as a threat in their eyes.

People kept screaming and pushing each other out of the way to escape the robots' line of fire, and (Y/N) knew she couldn't risk fighting with the robots on the ground. She pushed herself off the floor with a jump and her figure instantly glowed. In response to that, the robots started their own boosters and forced themselves to follow after her in the air.

She swerved the blasts in her direction and did a backflip in the air just in time to attack the robots from behind, using both arms to create a blast and make them fall back into the ground in pieces. (Y/N) was already lowering herself back to the ground, but just before her feet were able to touch the concrete, she saw how the lampposts and the forgotten cars started to shake.

At first, she thought it was an earthquake, but that wasn't a reasonable thought. Then, she began to notice the cracks in the pavement, and how people's screams were increasing. (Y/N) focused on the bridge just a few feet below of her and noticed how it was torn in half, one half of it being left in the dust and the other was gaining altitude. Her mind didn't process it at first, but then, the buildings on the edge were beginning to collapse. Sokovia was going on a ride.

(Y/N) gained altitude to get a better look on the flying part of the city, and her mind would never forget the image of the buildings crumbling into piles of dust in the forgotten soil. Tony, who was in his Iron Man suit, saw her in the air from afar and tried to catch her attention.

"Hey, Vaughn," his voice was heard from comms. "That building on your right is not clear."

(Y/N) scanned the area to her right just like he had indicated. "Got it."

She could see the trail of smoke he left behind in the air, probably flying to help other people stuck in other buildings. (Y/N) focused on the task in hand and when she was already close enough to the almost collapsing building, she could hear the cries for help from below. She calculated they were probably in the 2nd floor of the building.

(Y/N) punched the door off the room where the screams came from, and they were immediately halted once they saw her approach, thinking this was the end. She recognized a boy and a girl approximately the same age, holding each other in the corner of the room. (Y/N) did her best to coo them into coming forward, since they were running out of time.

"Hello," she greeted awkwardly, and in panic. "You're gonna need to hold onto me to get out of here, okay?"

The boy and the girl nodded in reply, and that was enough for (Y/N). The ground was crumbling as she spoke, so she wasted no time and rushing to them and wrapping her arms around their small bodies. (Y/N) flew out of the room just as the roof and the floor caved in and the entire building collapsed into a pile of debris.

(Y/N) flew away of the scene and tried to scan an area safe enough to place the children safely, but it was a difficult task since the little girl was screaming at the top of her lungs and her hair blew back into (Y/N)'s face. The boy, on the other hand, seemed to be enjoying his position, yet his shoulders dropped when they got close to the ground and (Y/N) was forced to let go of them.

"Now, go and hide in that place right there," (Y/N) told them, pointing to a small abandoned store where other people were rushing in for safety. "Can you do that for me?"

They both nodded in response.

"What are your names?" she asked, wanting to keep them in her mind to check on them later.

A blast went off behind them, and more screams were heard, so (Y/N) pulled them out of harm's way and under a roof, close to the shelter she wanted them to go. The boy seemed hesitant in sharing his name, but his sister nodded at him to reassure him and stepped forward.

"I'm Polina," the girl spoke instead. "This is my brother Pavel."

(Y/N) smiled at them, but kept focused for any signs of the robots closing in. "Nice to meet you," she told them, trying to ignore the ringing of the blasts going off in the streets. "Now, go inside that store and don't come out until it's safe."

The children nodded and rushed toward the entrance of that store, where people were already in. (Y/N) didn't want to leave until she made sure they both got into the place safely, but the little girl turned around once they were halfway through.

"What's your name, lady?" the girl, Polina, asked.

(Y/N) thought the answer through, just as a robot flew in and fired at her. She only raised her left arm and shot a photon blast at the robot, which blew up in parts and pieces.

"I'm the Marvelette," she phrased it in a way that sounded more like a question, but the little girl's eyes brightened at the name. (Y/N) might've been convinced that it was nice.

"Cool!"

The little boy grabbed his sister's arm and dragged her into the abandoned store, where (Y/N) had told them to go. She saw the way the people inside welcomed them, and made a mental note to come back. (Y/N) ran out into the street again, and Pavel couldn't help but be struck by the way she glowed in the air.

(Y/N) flew around the city for any other signs of people trapped inside buildings, but was distracted from her task when she caught the attention of some of the robots. They got in the air and flew after her, firing blast after blast that (Y/N) did her best at dodging. She flew through passages of the city, trying to buy herself time and take down each one of the robots one by one.

She managed to get one of the robots to follow after her alone, and (Y/N) allowed it to get close enough, just in time to twirl in the air and punch a hole into its body with a glowing fist. She yelped in victory because of this, and the sound caught the attention of the other robots she had left behind. (Y/N) fired a photon blast at one of them, but because of the impact, it threw the robot back and made it crash into another one. The remaining two of the squadron were stubborn, so she decided to have some fun with it.

(Y/N) caught sight of one robot, and she flew in its direction. She punched right through its jaw and this made it crash into a wall of a building. She wasn't done by then, since she used her already secured fist by the robot's jaw and dragged it up until they were in the air. By then, the robot was in bad condition, and (Y/N) noticed the last robot flying in. She grabbed one of the limbs of the broken robot and threw it in the upcoming's direction. The limb pierced itself right in the last robot's chest, which didn't seem to process what had happened.

(Y/N) saw how the last robot short circuited and fell back into the ground, so she was done in the area and decided to fly back to the main street.

"Stark, you worry about bringing the city back down safely," she heard Steve say through comms. "The rest of us have one job, tear these things apart. You get hurt, hurt them back. You get killed, walk it off."

(Y/N) got close to the main street and could see Wanda and Pietro finishing off a squadron of the robots by their own.

The city was already too high in the air that it flew right through a cloud. The fog was too dense that no one could see through it, and it consumed almost everything. (Y/N) thought it was pointless to fly through the fog so she decided to get back on the ground until the cloud was gone. She knew that if they were already high enough to pass through the larger clouds, there wasn't that much time left. They would get high enough to the point of running out of air, and she couldn't let that happen.

"The next wave is gonna hit any minute," Steve spoke again. "What do you got, Stark?"

"Huh? Nothing great," Tony answered, anxiety in his voice. "Maybe a way to blow up the city. That'll keep it from impacting the surface, if you guys can get clear."

"I asked for a solution, not an escape plan."

"Impact radius is getting bigger every second. We're gonna have to make a choice."

(Y/N) ran through the street and helped the other civilians get into a secured spot. The air was strong enough that it was blowing sheets of forgotten newspapers in the air, and the debris from the collapsed buildings. Part of her hair was blowing against her cheek, and she wished for any sort of miracle that could bring the city back to the ground or at least get everyone off the rock.

It seemed like her thoughts were heard, since she had blocked the conversation between Steve and Natasha until she could hear a third voice connected into the comms.

"Glad you like the view, Romanoff," Nick Fury's voice rang through her ears, and (Y/N) let out a relieved sigh. "It's about to get better."

(Y/N) saw how the highest point of the helicarrier emerged from the clouds, revealing itself to everyone that was on the flying city. It had been a while since she'd seen one of those, but oh, was she glad to see it now. She ran up to the edge of the city and joined Steve and Natasha's side, who were still admiring the helicarrier by the rubble.

"Nice, right?" Fury questioned. (Y/N) could already envision the smirk in his lips. "Pulled her out of mothballs with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but she'll do."

"Fury, you son of a bitch," Steve said from beside her, which made Natasha and (Y/N) share a surprised look behind his back.

"Ooh! You kiss your mother with that mouth?"

A hatch opened on the side of the helicarrier, which let out four flying lifeboats into the air. Every single one of them was approaching the edge of the city, all while the others admired from their spot on the flying rock.

"This is S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Pietro inquired a few feet away, eyes squinting the sunlight out of his eyes to get a better view at the helicarrier and lifeboats.

"This is what S.H.I.E.L.D. is supposed to be," Steve answered with pride.

Pietro chuckled. "This is not so bad."

The lifeboats stopped in different areas. One placed itself on the edge of the broken bridge, while the others secured their place on the side of the rock. Each of the lifeboats placed a ramp to allow people to get on them, and this gave the green light to bring people outside.

"Let's load them up."
