(Y/N) approved and mostly liked the newly made facility, even thought it looked cozy the first time she saw it finished. Now that the Avengers were done with the world threat known as Ultron, they were set to go on their different paths. Natasha had offered for her to stay behind and help out with the undercover missions that were sure to come her way, but (Y/N) politely declined the offer. She wasn't a huge fan of undercover work, and besides, she was offered another deal.

Tony had humbly ( in his own words, not hers ), offered (Y/N) a place to stay, with him. At first, she was a little hesitant about taking his offer, already knowing how he behaved behind closed doors โ€” recalling the thousand times she had to drag him out of the lab to get a decent amount of sleep. But then, (Y/N) thought she needed a change of scenery for a while and that was the best opportunity for it, so right after bidding her goodbyes to the team, she'd be leaving with him.

"(Y/N)?" A feminine voice called, which drew her attention away from staring ahead at the windows of the facility.

She turned on her heel and saw Maria holding a file in her hands, ready to hand it over. (Y/N) flashed her friend a thankful look. "You found it?"

"I was able to pull every bit of information there was," Maria explained, allowing (Y/N) to take the file out of her hands to skim through it. "Which was difficult. It's like they've been living off the grid for years."

(Y/N) hummed in response, eyes still glued to the file before lifting her gaze up. "Thank you, Maria. I appreciate it."

"No problem," Maria gave her a smile.

Maria started to walk away from the scene, the sound of her shoes clicking against the floor being the only echoing sound in the area. Even if (Y/N) had been staring at the file for a long time now, she still hadn't fully processed the words on it.

"Oh, (Y/N)," Maria called once again, stopping in her tracks as if she'd forgotten something important. "Stark's been wondering where you are. He's probably tearing the place upside down."

The mention of Tony made her somewhat relax about the file, and her shoulders deflated. (Y/N) closed the brown document in her hands, the red letters in the front spelling out 'Vaughn Family' still running chills down her spine. She made a mental note to look back at it later, but now she focused on her present.

"Tell him to stop whining," she told Maria. "I'll be with him in a minute."

"The rules have changed," Steve was the first one to speak as four members of the Avengers walked through one of the halls of the facility. The windows were allowing the bright sunlight to pass through, which was the only source of light in the white hallway.

"We're dealing with something new," Tony backed Steve up, both men walking on either sides of Thor.

(Y/N) was walking alongside Tony's left, still thinking the conversation was absolutely ridiculous, just like the majority of these men's discussions.

Steve continued talking, his hands on his belt. "Oh, the Vision is artificial intelligence."

"A machine," Tony shrugged, both still trying to prove a point.

"So, it doesn't count?"

"No, it's not like a person lifting the hammer."

"Right, different rules for us."

"Nice guy. Artificial."

"Thank you."

(Y/N) had her hands in the pockets of her aviator's jacket, quietly listening to what they were saying. These types of conversations were too entertaining for her to drift off them, so she did her best to stay focused and not laugh at their words.

"He can wield the hammer, he can keep the Mind Stone," Thor interrupted their talk between him. This made all of them stop in their tracks, listening to what he had to say. "It's safe with the Vision. And these days, safe is in short supply."

Steve still didn't change the subject. "But if you put the hammer in an elevator โ€” "

"It would still go up," Tony answered to him.

"Elevator's not worthy."

(Y/N) thought it was the best time to intervene. "But I am," she flashed the men a confident smile.

Scoffs escaped out of the three men's lips, though they weren't out of maliciousness. They knew this was something (Y/N) was never going to stop bragging about, even after years. They were just preparing themselves for the years to come and how to perfect their reactions.

"I'm gonna miss these little talks of ours," Thor said to the other three, placing his hand on Tony's shoulder.

"Not if you don't leave," Tony tried to convince him.

"I have no choice," Thor explained, removing his hand and continued walking forward. This made the other three follow side by side, just like a few minutes ago. "The Mind Stone is the fourth of the Infinity Stones to show up in the last few years. It's not a coincidence."

The hallway finished with a double paired door, one that led to the outside of the compound. Since their stop was the outdoors, they walked through the door and were received by the fresh air due to all the trees surrounding the area. (Y/N) could faintly see the lines of new recruits running through the yard.

"Someone has been playing an intricate game and has made pawns of us," Thor kept his speech. "And once all these pieces are in position. . ."

"Triple Yahtzee," Tony finished for him.

Steve looked back at the god with questioning eyes. "You think you can find out what's coming?"

"I do," Thor responded to his question. "Besides this one," he patted Tony in the chest. "There's nothing that can't be explained."

Thor separated himself from the trio but still kept his eyes on them. He nodded in farewell before raising his hammer in the air, which opened the rainbow colored portal known as the Bifrost. Once the flashes of colors disappeared in thin air, it left a symbol carved into the grass, which began to let out smoke.

"That man has no regard for lawn maintenance," Tony said to the remaining two by his side. They walked away from the burning grass and headed toward the road. "I'm gonna miss him, though. And you're gonna miss us. There's gonna be a lot of manful tears."

Tony pulled the car key from his pocket and pushed a button, calling in his vehicle.

"I will miss you both," Steve admitted, looking between the two.

(Y/N) placed a hand against her heart. "Aw, I'll miss you too, old man."

The orange sports car Tony had called rolled into the dirt road, stopping by at the exact same length as they were. The windows were rolled down, and (Y/N) still didn't believe she'd be leaving in that. She wasn't the biggest fan of the speed of a car, much better used to the one of a jet, but was open to change her opinion.

"Yeah?" Tony laughed at her remark but focused on replying to Steve's statement. "Well, it's time for us to tap out. Maybe I should take a page out of Barton's book."

Steve waited for him to elaborate and (Y/N) seemed deeply curious. Tony happily continued with what he had to say. "Build (Y/N) a farm, hope nobody blows it up."

(Y/N) looked back at Tony with an incredulous look. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves."

"Oh, please," Tony gave her a playful glare, yet he placed an arm around (Y/N)'s waist. "I know you're internally loving the idea."

Steve flickered his gaze between the couple with a fond look. "The simple life."

"You'll get that one day," Tony told him.

"I don't know," Steve confessed. "Family, stability. . .The guy who wanted all that went in the ice 75 years ago. I think someone else came out."

(Y/N) gave him an empathetic glance, pressing her lips on a line to offer him some sort of smile. She extended a hand forward for a handshake since she knew Steve wasn't the kind for hugs. The man took her hand and gave it a firm shake, a nod following after it.

Tony opened (Y/N)'s door to the car and waited for her to fully get in to close the door. Once he was done, he rounded to the other side of the sports car and opened his own door, not before looking back at Steve one last time.

"You all right?"

Steve gave him a firm nod. "I'm home."

With that, Tony stepped into the car and started the engine. The car drove off the road of the Avengers facility and was surrounded by the road full of trees. Even if there was a fair distance between them and the forgotten compound, (Y/N) could still see from the mirrors how the jets took off from the helipad.

(Y/N) instead focused on the driver, and suppressed the smile that was threatening to escape her lips. She didn't know what awaited her in the future with him, but she sat back and decided to enjoy it.

The worries of the world could wait, meanwhile, she wanted her fair share of happiness.
