"seene mein agar tu dard hai
na koi dawa chahiye"
ISHAN
It was 4pm and both of us were seated on the flight. The flight was supposed to take off at 4:10pm. Leaving back everyone had been quite an affair, most of the relatives were shedding tears along with Janhavi. Veer has also come to see us off and hugged Janhavi, way too tighter than needed.
Janhavi was looking at her phone, and I was looking at Janhavi. When she suddenly looked up and saw me gaping at her, I was feeling pretty embarrassed.
She looked away, without any reaction. For a matter of fact, we haven't talked after that divorce conversation and she was somehow behaving distant to me. Perhaps preparing herself to get separated from me.
The plane took off and we were given seat belt instructions but the flight attendants. Some of them even came for a picture with me to which I agreed. But Janhavi remained unbothered to all of this, looking out of the window.
"You're okay?", I asked her to make sure.
She nodded, without even looking at me.
"Janhavi I had something important to talk about."
Finally she looked at me and gestured to continue talking.
"What would you do after our divorce?" I asked the question that had been poking me for hours.
"I don't know... Maybe come back to Bihar?", she said unsurely.
"And?"
"We'll see"
"Your father will be okay with your decision? You didn't inform any of your family members that we are getting separated", I said being worried at her vagueness.
"Neither have you", she stated simply. "Oh yes you're right, Papa won't like a divorced girl in his house to taint his reputation.", she said smiling.
"So you won't inform him at all?", I asked.
"Maybe I'll first find a job in a school or somewhere, then I'll inform him after I've settled down a bit"
"See Janhavi you don't need a job. I can fulfill all your needs", I said not wanting her to struggle.
"I'm not that uneducated that ki jisse hamara koi vaasta nahi hain unse madad leni pade", she said being offended.
"I didn't mean that at all! I was just...", I fell silent unable to muster a proper reply. She said that usse mera koi vaasta nahi? All the beautiful moments we shared were just nothing?
Suddenly a very painful thought of Janhavi marrying Veer hit me. Oh my God! Please don't let that happen.
"Or you can marry Veer and settle with him?",these words slept out of my mouth.
She looked at me with amusement at first, and then it changed to a look of betrayal. Her eyes started glistening and before I could say anything, she looked away, denying to make an eye contact with me.
"I.. I'm sorry", I whispered but it had no effect on her.
Silence fell upon us. She leaned on the seat and tugged herself into a sheet. She closed her eyes. At first I thought that she had fell asleep after a while but when I looked closely she was still breathing at her usual rate. When she falls asleep, her breathing rate slows down.
She was calm or atleast pretending to be, but I was anything but calm. Tomorrow would be the last day with her. Why do the people I love leave me all alone? Janhavi had promised to be by my side forever. Is this forever?
I would be again all alone in that big Mansion which can't be even called home. The person that made it feel home, better to say the person who is my Home, would leave me tomorrow, all alone in this cruel world.
Suddenly, unexpected turbulence hit out flight. I have travelled a lot in flights so they do not bother me much these days.
I felt a tight grip on my hand resting on the armrest. Looking, I saw Janhavi tightly clutching my arm, her face looking scared. I put my other hand over hers to assure her. Her nails were digging into my skin, but the calmness that spread through my heart after holding her hands was eternal, it cancelled off every other pain I was feeling. Maybe this was the one last time I was holding her hands.
Soon, the turbulence subsided and she drew her hand back, not even looking at me. Her face suggested that she repented on holding my hands.
Now I'm even untouchable?
The rest of the flight and the journey back to our, oh sorry my house, was all silent.
Night had fallen, and both of us had went to bed. The last night with her. She had pulled a sheet all the way to her head, with her back facing me.
I wanted to hug her, cuddle with her before sleeping, caress her hair, share the bedtime kisses with her.... but all dream which are never coming true.
With all these thoughts haunting, and jet lag... I fell asleep.
I was in deep slumber, when my hand fell on the bed beside me, and it seemed empty. I moved my hand, but it was actually empty. I woke up in a jolt.
Her place was lying empty and Janhavi was nowhere in the room. I looked at the clock and it was 2am.
"Janhavi? Janhavi?" I yelled a few times. But no reply.
I got up and went to the bathroom if she was in there, but the door of the bathroom was wide open and the lights were on. I got inside and no-one was inside. I looked around to see that the walls and the floor was wet, as if someone had taken a shower. Drops of water was dripping through the shower head.
My thoughts were getting more and more scary. Panicking, I rushed to the other rooms to check, but she was nowhere. I checked the balcony and the garden, but she was not there as well. Pressure was bubbling inside me. The sky was overcast, and rain started to drizzle.
I ran out, to look for her if she had gone out. Inspite of the drizzle, it was thundering heavily and bad thoughts were clouding my thinking capacity.
God please let her be safe.
If this chapter gets 200 comments by today,
I'll make a double update <3
