"O karam khudaya hai
Tujhe mujhse milaya hai"
JANHAVI
The day had been perfect so far, and I could hardly believe how thoughtful and wonderful Ishan was. As we drove away from the cafรฉ, the sun was setting, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink. Ishan had been full of surprises all day, but when we didn't take the usual route back home, I knew something else was up.
"Ishan, where are we going?" I asked, leaning closer to him, curiosity bubbling inside me.
He glanced at me with a mischievous smile, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "You'll see soon, Janhavi. Just trust me."
I leaned back in my seat, trying to calm the butterflies in my stomach. The car ride was peaceful, with soft music playing in the background and the world outside the window slowly darkening. Ishan's hand left the steering wheel occasionally to find mine, squeezing it gently, as if to reassure me that everything was going to be perfect.
After a while, the city lights faded behind us, and we were surrounded by nature. The road was lined with tall trees, and I could hear the distant sound of water-waves, perhaps? My curiosity was at its peak, and I couldn't wait to see what Ishan had planned.
Finally, he turned onto a narrow street that led us to the banks of a river. The sight before me took my breath away. The river shimmered under the moonlight, and the whole area was calm, secluded, and stunning. Ishan parked the car and came around to my side, opening the door for me like the true gentleman he was.
"Where are we?" I asked, stepping out and inhaling the cool, fresh air. The ambiance was so serene, it almost felt magical.
Instead of answering, he took a black silk scarf from his pocket. "I need you to trust me," he said, his voice soft and serious.
I raised an eyebrow, but a smile tugged at my lips. "Another surprise?"
He nodded. "This one's going to be the best yet."
He gently tied the scarf over my eyes, blocking out the world around me. My other senses heightened; I could hear the gentle lapping of water, feel the cool breeze against my skin, and smell the earthy scent of the river mixed with the faint aroma of flowers. Ishan took my hand, leading me forward, his presence a comforting guide.
The ground beneath my feet changed, becoming slightly uneven, almost like I was walking on something on water. Then I heard the sound of water more clearly-closer, surrounding us. We must be on a boat, I thought. But what kind of boat?
"Just a few more steps," Ishan murmured, his voice filled with excitement. I could hear the smile in his words.
Finally, we stopped, and I could feel a different kind of energy around me. There were more voices-familiar ones, filled with warmth and laughter. I felt Ishan's fingers untie the scarf, and as the blindfold fell away, I blinked, my eyes adjusting to the sudden light.
What I saw took my breath away.
We were on a beautiful yacht, floating gently on the calm waters of the river. The cruise was adorned with flowers and fairy lights, creating a magical, ethereal atmosphere. And standing before me were some of the most important people in my life-the entire Indian cricket team and their wives, all smiling at me with so much love and joy that it made my heart swell.
"Oh my God, Ishan!" I gasped, my hands flying to my mouth in disbelief. "What is all this?"
Ishan grinned, clearly proud of himself. "Surprise! We're getting remarried today, with all our friends here to celebrate with us. Bola tha na, picture abhi baaki hai"
Tears of joy welled up in my eyes. I couldn't believe it. I had no idea that Ishan had been planning something so grand, so meaningful. I looked around at the faces of our friends-Virat bhaiya, Rohit bhaiya, Hardik bhaiya, Shubman , Anushka di, Ritika di and the ICT wags, all of them beaming at me, sharing in our happiness.
"But... how did you manage all this?" I asked, still trying to wrap my head around it.
"With a lot of help, from these people" Ishan said, laughing. "We all wanted to make this day unforgettable for you."
"Most importantly me?", prompted Shubman.
"Ae chal! Tujhse zyada kaam to maine kiya hai", Yashasvi piped in.
"Chup raho haan tum dono, Aaj sabse zyada kaam maine aur Hardik ne kiya hai. Tum log kisi kaam ke nahi" said Surya bhaiya, chewing a gun as usual.
Virat bhaiya was about to intervene, when Ro bhaiya stopped him. "Are tum logo koi kaam dhanda nahi hai kya? Un dono ke usme, are kya bolte hai... oh Haan Shaadi mein der ho jaa rahi hai aur tumlogo ko jhagadane ke alawa koi kaam nahi hai. Behenchod saare!"
All I could do was laugh at their marvels. The wives of the cricketers, led by Anushka di, rushed over to me, to take me somewhere. They started guiding me towards a cozy room on the boat, their excitement contagious.
"We've got to get you ready, Janhavi!" Ritika di said, practically dragging me along. "Tum aise hi bohot pyari ho, but shaadi me you should look the prettiest!"
As they dressed me, I couldn't stop smiling. The lehenga was exquisite, with intricate embroidery and delicate work that made me feel like royalty. The jewelry they handed me was equally beautiful, and as I looked in the mirror, I hardly recognized the woman staring back at me. The best part of it all was that, they had barely met me once or twice, but the was they behaved with me, it felt as if they were all my own sisters, my flesh and blood.
While they worked on getting me ready, I could hear the laughter and chatter outside. The guys were clearly having a great time teasing Ishan, probably about how he was going to cry when he saw me or mess up his vows. I could only imagine how nervous and excited he must be feeling. Shubman was shouting on the top of his voice as usual and Ishan was complaining that he wasn't looking handsome enough.
Trust me Ishan, you're the most beautiful person I've come across.
"So, hutt se dono ke beech itna pyaar kaise badh gaya? Divorce karne Gaye the na dono?" Athiya di asked, her hands deftly adjusting my dupatta. The other bhabhis leaned in, clearly eager to hear the story.
I blushed, feeling a little shy. "It's a long story," I said with a smile. "But let's just say, he made sure that I couldn't help but fall in love with him."
They all smiled knowingly, and I could see the love in their eyes, not just for their husbands but for the stories they each carried in their hearts. It was a moment of sisterhood, of understanding the journey that had brought us all together on this beautiful night.
Once I was ready, they stepped back to admire their handiwork. The look in their eyes told me everything I needed to know-I was ready. The door opened, and I stepped out onto the deck, my heart pounding in my chest.
The deck had been transformed into a mandap, with soft golden lights and flowers adorning every corner. Ishan stood at the center, dressed in a cream-colored sherwani that complemented my lehenga perfectly. His eyes were on me the moment I stepped out, and the look on his face made my breath catch.
He was completely awestruck. And was I.
I walked towards him, feeling the weight of the moment, the significance of what we were about to do. The guys couldn't resist, of course-Virat leaned over and whispered something in Ishan's ear, and Ishan's ears turned a delightful shade of red. But his eyes never left mine.
The guys, of course, noticed this immediately and started teasing him mercilessly. "Dekho dekho, Ishan ka dil phisal gaya!" Tilak shouted, making everyone laugh.
Shubman on the other hand was looking so emotional and his eyes were glistening, as if I was snatching away his wife from him. The bhaiyas and bhabhis looked at us with eyes full of love and adoration.
Finally, we stood facing each other at the mandap, the world around us fading into a soft blur. The priest began the ceremony, and we exchanged garlands, our smiles mirroring each other's. The moment felt surreal, like we were in a dream, and I was floating on air.
When it came time for the sindoor, Ishan's hands trembled slightly as he applied the vermillion to my hair partition. The touch was gentle, reverent, and filled with so much love that it made my heart ache with happiness. This was our forever, I realized. This was the start of a new chapter in our lives, one that we would write together.
I couldn't help but remember the last time Ishan had put sindoor on my hair partition, and all I had felt was remorse and guilt and betrayal.
But today? Today was different. Today felt ethereal.
The ceremony ended with the registrar arriving with the papers. We signed them with broad smiles on our faces, our friends cheering and clapping as we officially became husband and wife once again. The photographers captured every moment, ensuring that this night would live on in our memories-and on social media, of course.
After the ceremony, the festivities began in full swing. The night was filled with laughter, dancing, and endless teasing. Ishan and I couldn't stop smiling, our hands never letting go of each other. The joy was infectious, and everyone on that boat seemed to be floating on the same cloud of happiness.
As the night deepened, Ishan and I found a quiet corner on the deck, away from the noise and excitement. The river was calm, its surface reflecting the moonlight, and the boat rocked gently with the current. Ishan pulled me close, wrapping his arms around me as we stood there, lost in the moment.
"Thank you for this," I whispered, my voice thick with emotion. "For everything. I don't know how I got so lucky to have you."
He smiled down at me, his eyes filled with love. "I'm the lucky one, Janhavi. You make me want to be the best version of myself, every single day."
We stood there for a while, just holding each other, the world around us disappearing into the night. Then, as if unable to wait any longer, Ishan tilted my chin up and kissed me softly. The kiss was gentle at first, filled with tenderness, but it quickly deepened, becoming more passionate, more urgent. It was a kiss that spoke of promises, of a lifetime of love and happiness that we were ready to embrace.
When we finally pulled apart, I rested my head on his shoulder, feeling content and at peace. The sounds of laughter and music in the background only added to the magic of the moment.
"This is just the beginning, isn't it?" I asked softly, my voice barely above a whisper.
Ishan nodded, his arms tightening around me. "Yes, Janhavi. This is our beginning of forever."
THE END
Thank you guys for the endless support you have given me and my books. I hope you'll keep on supporting me as I move ahead. Love you all <3
Guys idk if you remember the book "Shayad" which I had unpublished a few months back. I think I'll change it's plot line a bit and republish it soon. It would definitely have slow updates but I guess you'll bear with me.
Thank you again for all the love you've given to Ishan, Janhavi and Vivaah. Don't forget to check the character aesthetics because I've updated that page.
Getting emotional as I would miss writing about Ishan and Janhavi so no more ranting!
