𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍. | ❛ The Winter Soldier. ❜

NATASHA AND JAMIE WATCHED STEVE THROWING JASPER SITWELL ACROSS THE ROOF. After their breakfast meeting, the quartet got in position and went with the plan. With the help of Elijah, they found Sitwell's location, and now the girls watched how Steve interrogated the HYDRA agent across a rooftop.

"Tell me about Zola's algorithm," Steve demanded, his tone lacing with anger.

"Never heard of it." Sitwell denied, his eyes looking anywhere but his.

"What were you doing on the Lemurian Star?" Steve pushed the question further.

"I was throwing up, I get seasick." He replied with a shrug. He let out a yelp of surprise when Steve forced him to the edge of the rooftop.

Sitwell smiled, "Is this little display meant to insinuate that you're gonna throw me off the roof? Because it's really not your style, Rogers." he jeered, looking at him through his glasses.

Steve nodded. "You're right. It's not. It's hers."

Steve stepped aside, making room for the redhead to kick Sitwell off the roof. He plummeted down, yelling at the top of his lungs. Jamie gave her a pat on the back, silently applauding her.

"Oh, wait. What about that girl from accounting, Laura...?" Natasha chimed, her smirk widening watching Steve let out a sigh, giving her a look.

"Lillian. Lip piercing, right?"

"Yeah, she's cute," Natasha said, nudging Jamie's elbow, in which she rolled her eyes with a chuckle.

"Yeah, I'm not ready for that," Steve admitted, averting his gaze towards nothing in particular. Just as he was about to say something else, Sam, in his Falcon jet-pack suit with wings, flew up, holding Sitwell, and threw him down on the roof.

The trio walked towards Sitwell, who was holding up his hand in fear. "Zola's algorithm is a program...for choosing Insight's targets!" he revealed, panting.

Steve's eyes narrowed, "What targets?"

"You. And her!" Sitwell said, also pointing at Jamie before looking back at Steve. "A TV anchor in Cairo, the Undersecretary of Defense, a high school valedictorian in Iowa city. Bruce Banner, Stephen Strange, Elijah Visser and anyone who's a threat to HYDRA! Now, or in the future," he explained.

Jamie frowned, her head tilted to the side. "The Future? How could it know?" she questioned, making the agent laugh.

"How could it not? The 21st century is a digital book. Zola taught HYDRA how to read it." Natasha, Jamie, and Steve looked at him in confusion. "Your bank records, medical histories, voting patterns, e-mails, phone calls, your damn SAT scores. Even who you've killed." Sitwell told them, the last note referring to the Heroine.

Steve and Natasha didn't pay too much attention to the last bit. Jamie's eyes harden, her face glowering at the HYDRA agent. "Zola's algorithm evaluates people's past to predict their future."

"And what then?" Steve asked.

Sitwell's eyes went wide. "Oh, my God. Pierce is gonna kill me."

Steve inched closer, his eyes cold. "What then?!"

Sitwell sighed, his eyes closing. "Then the Insight Helicarriers scratch people off the list. A few million at a time."

__________

Sam drove everyone to Triskelion, with Steve and him at the front and the rest in the passenger seat. Jamie sat in the middle, with Natasha on her right and Sitwell on her left. She turned her head to the left, giving the agent a blank look as he tried to give her a smile.

Sitwell cleared his throat. "HYDRA doesn't like leaks."

"So why don't you try sticking a cork in it," Sam told him, his eyes on the road.

"Insight's launching in sixteen hours, we're cutting it a little bit close here," Natasha informed, shifting in her seat as she looked at Steve.

"I know. We'll use him to bypass the DNA scans and access the Helicarriers directly." Steve said.

Sitwell almost choked on air. He gave them all a look of shock. "What?! Are you crazy? That is a terrible, terrible idea-" he fretted but was cut off by the window smashing beside him. A metal arm grabbed his throat and threw him into the traffic killing him instantly.

The Winter Soldier stood on the car roof, pointing his gun below, shooting them. Jamie pushed Natasha under before she guided her towards Steve. She tightened her strap that was holding her swords and sat in the middle, head ducked down.

Steve pulled the brake handle, making the Winter Soldier drop down onto the street. As another car smashed into the quartet's car and pushed them along, the Russian assassin jumped back on their car and smashed through the windscreen. He pulled out the steering wheel in the process.

"Shit!" Sam yelped, looking at the others with a shocked look.

Natasha started shooting at him, but the Winter Soldier jumped onto the vehicle behind them. The car was pulled off the road and Steve held on to the car door. The redhead brought her hand towards her friend, grabbing her hand to sit at the front.

Somehow they managed, and Steve broke the car door open, holding onto the shield and sliding on the door through the traffic street. "Hang on!"

The Winter Soldier was joined by HYDRA agents and started shooting at them. Steve's grip on Jamie's arm loosened and she rolled down onto the street. She groaned and quickly stood up, her eyes frantically looking for her team. Her eyes landed on Sam and Natasha but no signs of Steve.

A HYDRA agent pointed his gun towards her, ready to fire. The bullet sought at a high speed and Jamie grabbed her sword, gracefully deflecting the bullet. She turned her head to the agent and walked forward. Her scleras turned dark as deep, gnarly black veins crawled out from underneath her eyes and the agent's eyes turned wide with fear.

The Heroine's blade came in contact with his gun, which she effortlessly cut in half. The agent ducked down and stepped backwards, but she was faster and thrusted her sword to his chest, killing him instantly. She took down another agent before she sought cover behind a car.

"And I'm the poser." Natasha joked beside her, causing the ex-soldier to snap her head to her.

Jamie scoffed, squatting down, her eyes darting over the traffic. She leaned against the car, her eyes searching for the Winter Soldier. Her grip on her sword tightened and she glanced at her friend. "You think he remembers us?" she asked the redhead.

Natasha pulled another gun out from her pocket. She gave her a smirk, "We'll about to find out." she said before pointing her guns towards the soldier. She managed to shoot him in his eye mask. She gave Jamie one last look before running off.

"I'm not a poser," Jamie said to herself, grabbing her other sword.

The quartet was scattered around, running in different directions. Jamie brushed a few hair strands away from her face, scooting carefully around the car, her eyes on the White Wolf. "I have her. Find him." she heard him say, and she squinted her eyes at his muffled Russian through his mask.

The Winter soldier loaded his gun. As he was about to follow Natasha, Jamie appeared in front of him, a smirk plastered onto her features. "Missed me?" she said in Russian, before launching at him as her sword clashed against his metal arm.

A brief look of surprise painted inside of his eyes, but it vanished just as rapidly as it had appeared. He ducked and swatted her sword away, grabbing his gun but she was faster. She used her other sword and bent down, stabbing him in the leg, causing him to double over.

The Winter Soldier hissed. His metal arm vibrated with energy and he squeezed his hand into a fist before she could throw another hit. He grabbed her into a chokehold, his tight grip on her throat tightening. She gasped and squirmed against his grip. She tried to angle her sword, but he busted them away and threw her against a pile of damaged cars.

Jamie let out a whimper, feeling her bones cracking from the plummet. She shifted her body and landed on her side. Black fluid surged from her mouth and she coughed it out. She wiped her mouth, a look of confusion etched on her face as she looked at the dark sap. "Shit."

A sound of a bomb exploding seemed to pull her away from her state and she snapped her head towards the scene. She saw Natasha trying to take down the soldier not too far away. She pulled her body away from the ground and halted towards the spectacle in front of her.

Natasha ran, only to be shot in the shoulder. She yelped in pain, grabbed her injured shoulder, and limped away from his sight. The Winter Soldier walked forward, pointing his gun at her. Just as he was about to fire. A beam of energy sent him all the way across the street, making him lose sight of the redhead.

Jamie grunted, brandishing her glistening black sword as she landed in front of him. The soldier craned his neck and stood up from his feet. His eyes raged with anger and he threw his gun to the side before he bolted toward her. He caught the sword with his metal arm, gripping the blade and twisting her arm making her hiss out in pain.

The sword fell from her hands and she let out a groan. Her arteries writhed under her eyes and she did a maneuver, ending up elbowing his side causing him to slightly bend down. She took the chance to get back to her sword, but this time he was faster and fired a bullet into her leg.

Jamie fell down to the ground and she dragged her body forwards, her hand reaching to her sword. He hovered over her and stepped on her hand to prevent her from getting her weapon. She grunted, gritting her teeth. Her other free hand searched for her other sword, and she wasted no time spiking on his left leg.

The Winter Soldier jerked at the pain, feeling blood pooling underneath his suit. The distraction became the perfect opportunity for Steve to jump in, using his shield to throw him across the street.

Jamie stood up with wobbly legs, dragging her body and fixing her posture. She limped to a brick wall and she leaned her body for support whilst she grabbed her leg to remove the bullet. Her ragged breathing was the only thing she could hear. With a shaky hand, her hand came in contact with her skin and she gnawed at the bullet, using her last energy to pull it out.

The Heroine let out a scream once the bullet was out of her leg. She sighed in relief, sliding down the wall. She looked down at her leg, her eyes narrowing at the wound. She cursed at her abilities for not healing properly. Her hands found her pockets, pulling out her elixir but sighed once she saw an empty glass.

"Bad day?" Agent Rumlow joshed with a fake smile, his pistol aiming at Jamie.

Jamie exhaled, leaning her head against the brick wall. "More like a bad century," she replied tiredly, her head turning to look at him, not being bothered by a gun pointing in her direction.

The HYDRA agent let out a chuckle, inching closer, but held a distance between them in case of a sudden attack from the woman. "You thought you could get away? We're always one step ahead of you, Barzinji." he reminded, his hostile eyes staring into her dull eyes.

Jamie gestured with her hands. "You got me now, didn't you?" she chimed sarcastically with a smile. The sound of sirens and HYDRA officers increased and she moved her head towards the sound, watching the trio surrounded by agents.

Steve searched for the brunette, his eyes darting across the streets. He grew worried, not having heard from her for a while and he wondered where she left off. He could feel his stomach in knots. The thought of something happening to her made his heart palpitate.

His eyes finally found hers, and he sighed in relief, watching her being guided by Rumlow. His blood boiled at the way he held her and he wanted nothing more than to smack the stupid smirk off his face.

"Drop the shield, Cap! On your knees!" Rumlow repeated, kicking Steve's leg.

A helicopter flew above them, and Rumlow alerted his team not to engage. They lowered their guns and numerous agents surrounded the quartet, taking them into custody. A harsh grip on her arm made the woman growl in anger and she swatted Rumlow's hands away, giving him a glare.

"Lay another finger on me, Rumlow I swear to God, I will cut off both of your arms." she threatened, her scleras turning dark making him put his hand up in surrender watching her walking beside Sam and entering the big van.
