Pierce draped the sheet over the dead body and sat down behind the computer to write down the medical report. He was halfway through it when there was a knock on the door.
Pierce let go of the mouse and turned his office chair in the direction of the door.
"Come on in," he answered the knock and he smiled when he recognised Phoenix and Greg. There were several others with them, but he did not know them. "Phoenix, Greg... Long time no see," he greeted the detectives of the Yard.
"Indeed." Phoenix paused for a moment and then gestured at the three other people behind him that Pierce didn't know yet. "Mackenzie, this are Sherlock, John and Hawk. They help us with these strange deaths that seem to happen every day now."
Pierce observed the famous detective, he had worked with him before but that was in an indirect manner and he had actually never met him in person. He had always looked up to Sherlock, so this was a dream coming true. "Nice to meet you all, although it's too bad about the circumstances..." His voice faded away as he was getting lost in thought. He had seen too many dead bodies to his liking this week. First the people that were all ripped apart and now this trampled woman. They all looked like they could be victims in some kind of horror movie but unfortunately, this was very real and the sight was far from pleasant.
Pierce was drawn back to reality when Sherlock spoke up. "So, what do we've got here?"
"Something that's not for weak stomachs," Pierce answered with a half eye upon the young girl standing a bit behind Sherlock. Hawk saw him looking and crossed her arms.
"I think I can handle it."
Pierce raised an eyebrow and looked at Greg for some support, but he just shrugged. If Hawk wanted to see it, there was nothing Lestrade could do to change her mind. He had already learned in these past two days that Hawk was very stubborn.
"All right, as you wish." Pierce got up from his chair and removed the sheet from the body.
"Trampled to death," he clarified and a chill rolled down his spine when he imagined in what kind of pain this woman must have been. Her skull was crushed and so was her body. Stained blood was everywhere to be found and some of her abdominal viscera were not where it should be... on the outside.
"Fascinating," Sherlock muttered while he stepped a bit closer.
"Indeed, especially when you realise there was nothing to be seen on the tape but this is clearly due to a stampede," Hawk added.
Lestrade gestured Pierce could cover up the body once again as he was getting a bit nauseous of the sight. Greg had seen a lot in his time as an Inspector, but this was just a horrifying sight. "Thank you, Mackenzie. We should go talk to the witnesses," he said to the rest of the group when the battered woman was out of sight.
Pierce casted a glance upon his report that was still showing on the screen. "Yes, they're here in the hospital, heavily injured. Brandon White and Ariel Denmark."
John's face paled when he heard the latter name, so that's the reason why she hadn't show up for their date...

Ariel stood in front of the mirror in her room, a towel was wrapped around her body and her blue hair was still wet from the shower. Water dripped down on her shoulders and she wondered what she had to wear to her date with John. Casual or classy? Wait... it was just going to be a cup of tea, it was not like they were going to some fancy restaurant. So, casual it was. She turned towards her closet and grabbed a pair of ripped jeans and her favourite t-shirt of AC/DC.
Perfect.
She shot in her black converse and after a quick glance at the clock, hanging above her bed, she grabbed her denim jacket and swung it over her shoulder. She was ready to go. Ready for her date with John!
Ariel almost skipped out of her apartment and set course towards the nearest Underground Station: Bethnal Green. She walked past the memorial and down the stairs. She took a few moments to orientate to get to the right line.
It was quiet at the platform, there were only two other people; one woman and one man. Ariel looked at the schedule displayed on the board above her, the next tube should be here in four minutes. She hoped it wasn't too crowded in it...
Ariel was about to plug in her headphones when a child's crying reached her ears. Confused, she looked around but there was no child near. Another scream filled the air and Ariel raised her eyebrows. This was weird. She looked at the man and woman who were standing at the other side of the platform and they crossed eyes. They were all not sure what to think of it.
The screams and crying became more and louder as the seconds passed by. Ariel had goosebumps all over her body and started to run towards the exit. She screamed in fear when something hit her shoulder, but there had been nothing in front of her. Another invisible force knocked her over and with a loud bonk she fell on the ground. The sound of screaming and crying was all around her and it was truly deafening.
Ariel tried to crawl away but things kept on stepping on her. Pain shot through her body and she felt the warm blood running out of her many wounds. What the Hell was happening?!
She had trouble with breathing and with the last bit of strength she still possessed, she looked at the board. One minute until the arrival of the tube. Ariel could only hope that the invisible things would disappear then. She just had to hold on for one more minute. One more... Her eyes started to feel heavy and a kick against her head, knocked her completely out.

A/N: And now you know what I was referring to! Sorry, btw, but no worries; she isn't dead (yet, mwhahaha! Just kidding, just kidding... AM I?!). What's a story without a little drama, right?
Quick question, do any of you watch The Walking Dead? I can't wait for the next season... And of course, the start of season twelve of Supernatural! *squeals*
