"You get more beautiful by the day." Kol smirks, pulling Candice into a soft kiss, both of them standing in the middle of a room as dead bodies surrounded them. "You say that all the time." Candice smiles, taking his hand. "Only because it's true. Let's get out of here, shall we?" She nods, taking his hand to pull him out. They walked the streets of France, Kol's arm around her waist. Kol's phone went off whilst Candice was taking pictures of the view.

Kol sighs, answering the phone when it revealed to be Rebekah. Candice didn't bother listening in, continuing to snap some more pictures. She always did have an appreciation for scenery. Kol hangs up a few minutes later, snaking his arm back around her waist. "We need to go back to Mystic Falls, love." Candice closed her eyes, wishing he didn't just say that. "Rebekah needs us, Candice."

"No." That was the last thing he expected to hear from her. "No? What do you mean, no?"

Candice turns around swiftly. "I mean, no. I'm done with Mystic Falls. Nothing good ever comes from that place." Though she made good points, Kol still needed her to come with him. He wasn't gonna go without her. "I know, love. But Rebekah needs our help." Candice rolls her eyes, "What could she possibly need that's so important she can't do it herself?"

"She said they're close to finding a cure. A cure to vampirism. She needs our help to find it before Nik can get his hands on it." Kol explained. She scoffed, shaking her head. "Bloody hell, Kol, there is no cure! It doesn't exist! I have been searching a thousand years to find it! There is a reason I have not once been close to finding it! It does not exist!" Kol looked down, she sighs, running her thumb over his cheek. "I love Bekah, I do. But we can't just drop everything at her beckon call."

Kol pursed his lips, he knew she was right, but he also loved his sister and if this cure could give her the human life she always wanted, then he wanted to give that to her. But maybe part of him wanted the cure for Candice. "What if she's right? What if the cure does exist and you just haven't searched hard enough for it? The least we could do is give her this one last thing."

Candice diverted her eyes to the ground, realizing something. "This isn't for Rebekah, is it?" She looked back up, he avoided her eyes. "You want it for us, don't you? That's why you're being so persistent. Otherwise you wouldn't be pushing so hard." Kol sighed, looking back up. "Can you honestly blame me? You can be human again. We can have a family. Don't you want that? To be normal? To stop looking over your shoulder, scared that your mother may be plotting your demise?"

"No. I don't want that, Kol. I never did. You know that. You always have. I am not scared of my mother. She will always hate me, human or not. All I have ever wanted is to be with you. From the moment I met you, whether I am a witch, or a vampire, or human, I don't care. As long as I am with you. Am I not enough for you?" Tears pooled in her eyes, his hands went to her cheeks, feeling bad that she was feeling this way.

"Of course you are, Candice." Kol said. Candice smiles sadly, "Then why do I feel like I'm never gonna see you again?" As he went to speak, his phone goes off, he let's go of Candice to grab it, seeing it was more messages from Rebekah. He sighs, "I need to go. I'm sorry." As he goes to walk away, he pauses at her voice. "You're pathetic, Kol Mikaelson! You don't fight for love! You're terrified of it! You never fought for this relationship! You never loved me, not like I love you!"

He knew she was only saying these things because she was angry. But that didn't make it hurt any less. "You take one more step, and we are done! I mean it. We are through!" Kol dropped his head, "I'm sorry. I'm unworthy of your love, darling." She scoffed, tears threatening to fall. "Run then! It's the only thing you seem to be good at! I hate you! I wish you would just die!" Kol closed his eyes, shaking his head, he walks off, the sound of her sobs breaking his heart.

Candice lied on her bed, looking at the empty spot next to her where Kol always laid. She missed him. She regretted every word she said to him when she was angry. Looking back at it, it was stupid. The argument was pointless. She should've just caved and gone with him. The more time she was away from Kol, the more she got a bad feeling sinking in her gut. Almost like something in her mind was warning her to go to Mystic Falls. That bad feeling only got worse as time went by.

The phone went off, she immediately goes to grab it, hoping to God it was Kol. Unfortunately for her, it was just Niklaus. Still, she answered it. "What is it, Nik?" She spoke. "I need you in Mystic Falls immediately. Kol is causing quite the trouble and I am holding back every ounce of restraint to dagger him. So I am giving you a chance to deal with him before I have to resort to my own extreme measures."

Candice furrowed her brows, "What the hell are you talking about? I thought he was there to help Rebekah find the nonexistent cure." Niklaus smirks, "Oh no, the cure is very much real.ย  Unfortunately, Kol is now dead set on making sure nobody finds it because he believes Silas will rise and kill everyone. So, I ask again, get down here now. Or Kol gets a dagger shoved in his heart." Nik hung up, leaving Candice to her many questions unanswered.

Candice stood up, quickly getting dressed and heading to the door. Only the minute she laid her hand on the handle, she fell unconscious. As she opened her eyes, everything was different. She wasn't in her apartment. She was in Great Britain, only it looked how it was 1,000 years ago. She recognized the cottage near the small pond. It was what used to be her home. Where she and Anthony lived with their mother.ย

"No, no, this isn't real. I can't be back here. Why am I back here?" Candice crossed the small bridge over the pond and walked towards the cottage. The door slowly opened, her breathing stopped for a second when her mother, Chelsea Parker walked out. "Mother..." Her throat was slit, there was a large wound where her heart lied, she was pale, lifeless looking, just as Candice left her when she had killed her. "My daughter," Chelsea smiled, though their was nothing warm about it.

"What do you want from me?" Candice backed up, her mother's appearance bringing her to shivers. "What do I want?" Chelsea sighed, intertwining her hands together. "I want you to suffer the same fate you forced upon me." Candice's eyes widened, it's not like she had much of a choice when she killed her mother. Chelsea wanted to sacrifice them for more power. She had to kill her, before she killed them.

"You continue to hold this grudge against me when it's been 1,000 years! Get over it. I killed you before you could kill us!" Candice shouts. Chelsea's expression grew colder, harsher. "I cannot get over it! You are an abomination to nature! You do not deserve your power! And I will fight for another 1,000 years if it means finally ridding you of the earth!" Chelsea's face relaxed, crossing her hands in front of her, she smiled darkly. "Though, I suspect I won't have to wait very long."

Candice furrowed her brows, confused, until she finally figured it out. "Kol..."

Chelsea smirks, glad it was all starting to hit her. "These kids, are very, very smart. Planning to kill an original. I should have thought of it myself. You are supernaturally attached to this boy. It's quite genius. The death of Kol Mikaelson will be your downfall. You could not possibly handle the grief that comes with losing a soulmate. So you will turn it off, you will cause havoc, so much that every witch on the face of Earth will join to rid you from this place."

Candice shook her head, not believing a word she was saying. "No! You're lying! Get out of my head!" Candice threw out her hand in attempts to kill her mother again, until she was pulled from her mind. She woke up with a gasp, only she still wasn't in her apartment. It was dark, and it looked exactly like Mystic Falls, only it was lifeless looking. "Sister?" Candice turned around hearing his voice, "Anthony?" He nodded, smiling softly.

Candice smiled, tears streaming down her face, she wrapped her arms around him. Anthony pulled away, putting his hands on her shoulders, he looking around warily. "Sister, you need to leave right now. If mother finds you, with enough witches by her side, she can keep you here permanently." Candice nods, "I know, but I don't know how! I don't even know how I'm here!"

Anthony sighs, "I've been trying to warn you. You killed a witch by drinking her blood, that witches blood helped further a spell on you. But that's not important anymore. Kol is in danger, and he needs you before it's too late. You have to find your body and wake up! Kol will die the longer you wait." Candice nodded, then that's when the wind hit them, rustling of leaves were heard. They were getting closer. "You need to go now! I can hold them back! Go!"

"Okay. Okay. I love you." Candice hugged him once more, both of them savoring it before speeding away, it took her a while before she finally located her body.

Candice awakens with a gasp, suddenly a loud wave of pain was directed on her. She turned to see a woman in a black cloak, holding out her hand to further the migraine. Candice siphons the magic and speeds towards her, snapping her neck. She didn't waste a second before leaving out the door and climbing into her car.

Candice looked down at her hand the held the ring that kept her connected to Kol. "I can still feel you. I can feel you. Please, just hold on."

"Answer your bloody phone, Kol!" Candice angrily slams her hand on the steering wheel, hanging up the voicemail as Klaus calls her. "Where are you? You were supposed to be here hours ago." Klaus spoke urgently. Candice sighs, stepping on the pedal to go faster. "I got caught up, mother dearest doesn't exactly seem to want me in Mystic Falls. What's going on? Where is Kol? He isn't answering his bloody phone!"

"Well, I just found out the two Gilbert's are trying to kill your dear Kol. Get to the Gilbert house now before they succeed!" Candice let's out a frustrated scream before hanging up the phone. She groaned, feeling a sharp pain in her chest. It was Kol. "No! No, no, please! No!" Stopping the car, she ran towards the Gilbert residence, spotting Klaus at the door. And there he was. Lying on the floor, his body burning to ash before her eyes.

"No." Elena turned around, seeing Candice and Klaus at the door, unable to enter the home. "No! No! No!" Their eyes widened at her bloodshot eyes, she dropped to her knees, letting out a powerful scream that shook the entire house. Klaus looked down at the sobbing girl, wishing to comfort her but scared that if he touched her she would kill him. "What did you do?" Was the first thing that escaped his lips.

"We-we didn't have a choice. He was trying to cut off Jeremy's arm." Elena defended. "Lies. He never would've gotten inside if you hadn't have set a trap for him." Candice looked up, her jaw clenched as she whispered under her breath, Elena groaned, holding her chest. Klaus knew exactly what she was doing, and he couldn't allow it, not yet. "Sorry, love." Klaus was quick to snap her neck, she dropped to the floor, Elena and Jeremy both surprised by his actions.

"You said you were gonna put him down, too!" Elena points out.

"I was gonna make him suffer on my terms!" Klaus sighs, glancing down at the temporarily dead Candice. "I want to burn this house to the ground and then when you try to flee for your lives, I'll kill you both without blinking. Better yet, I'll let Candy here, torture you for as long as she so pleases." Klaus said. "You kill us, you'll never get to the cure. You'll never be able to make any more hybrids." Jeremy states.

"You really think I care for an instant about my bloody hybrids? I want the cure so I can destroy it. I would've killed you at the second we dug it up but now I'm just gonna watch you burn instead." Klaus's leg suddenly snaps, he screams as Bonnie steps over Candice, walking into the house as Nik quickly recovers. "Invite him in. Do it." Bonnie orders. Jeremy hesitates, but complys, "Come in."

Bonnie immediately uses her magic to drag Klaus inside. "Living room, go!" Elena and Jeremy run towards the living room, Klaus speeds after them, only to realize he's suddenly trapped inside. "Witch, you can't do this to me." He says towards Bonnie. "You have no idea what I can do now," she says confidently. "I will hunt all of you to your end!" Jeremy nudges Elena, they both turn to see Candice no longer where she was.

"Bonnie, watch out!" Candice wraps her arms around Bonnie's neck, siphoning her. Jeremy runs over with the white oak stake only for Candice to throw him back with the new magic she took from Bonnie. Candice throws Bonnie to the side before Elena charges at her, stabbing her in the stomach with a stake. "You newbie vamps, so arrogant!" Candice kicks Elena into the wall and rips out the stake, only for Jeremy to shoot her with a crossbow when she turned around. Bonnie gets up, throwing Candice into the same trap Klaus was in.

Candice puts her hands onto the trap as Bonnie, Jeremy, and Elena run out of the house. "Siphon the damn barrier, Candice!" Klaus demands. Candice clenched her jaw, attempted to siphon only for blood to her head to start pounding, blood spilling from her nose. "Damn it, mother! Let me out!" She screams, slamming her hands angrily. "Take it down, Candice!" Klaus orders once more.

She turned around, glaring at him. "Don't you think I'm trying?! I don't wanna be trapped here any less than you do! Not when the love of my life is burned to ash a mere feet away!" Nik's eyes softened as tears brimmed her eyes. He watched as she collapsed to the floor, crying her heart out for her fallen love. Klaus picked her up and set her on the sofa, bringing her head onto his lap, rubbing her back in a comforting manner.

"I can't feel you. I can't f-feel you." She cried, Klaus didn't understand what she meant but still did his best to comfort her. "It's okay, love. You'll be okay. You can get through this." Candice shook her head in denial. "But I can't, Nik. I can't. I spent all my one thousand years of life, loving him, only him. It's only ever been him. I don't have anything left. Anthony is gone. Finn is gone. Kol is gone. I have nobody. I have no purpose. I have nothing."

"You have me. You know, you gave my brother the only thing he never found in the world. Love." Klaus said as she sat up, her eyes were red and puffy. "This is all my fault. I did this. I killed him. This is my fault." Klaus furrowed his brows in confusion, not knowing how she could blame herself when all she did was love and protect Kol. It wasn't her fault that Kol had gone all pyscho killer on everyone over something that was believed to be a myth. "I don't understand. How could this possibly be any of your fault?"

"If I had never started that stupid arguement, and just went with him. I could have prevented this..." Candice mumbles to herself, though Klaus could hear every word. "Nik, I told him I hated him. I said, I wished he would just die. He died, believing that I hated him. My mother was right about me. What kind of monster wishes that on someone she loves?"

Klaus rubbed her shoulder softly, feeling sympathy for her. "You couldn't possibly have known this would happen, Candice. It's not your fault. He didn't come here because you made him." He said.

Candice looked up, her eyes dazed, not focused on Nik. "You're right. It's not my fault. It's Rebekah's."
