#2 - DIATHESES.
A walk to nowhere in taunting thoughts
that bound me a prisoner of my past.
Heavy metals clutching my wrists,
large bars holding me still.
The past dims the light in my tomorrow
Tears my joy into shreds of sorrow
Hammers my faith to pieces of doubts
Steals the hope that trails to my purpose.
I stop by the seashore,
it's quiet and loud
Atmosphere still,
how I want my breath to feel.
Water waves raging wild
like the pain from the past I want to seize.
Staring at the waves,
eyes blurry from held back tears.
A step I take and-
"Stop." A whisper I hear on my right.
"Keep walking," says another on my left.
You'll be gone for good to a place unknown.
Soul laying aimlessly,
counting on the prayers
of mortals that breathe.
How long will you sleep and awake
in a place you wish not to be?
Take a moment of pain
to an eternal rest in peace.
Please hold on to me, I'll still your storm
Walk you above the waters,
towards the horizon
where the morning sun rises.
"Keep walking."
"Stop."
"Keep walking."
"Stop."
The whisperers argue and I scream.
Suppressed anger, now released,
coursing through my veins.
I want to hope the voices are true.
At the same time, I choose to believe that they lie.
"Keep walking."
"Stop."
"Keep walking."
"Stop."
I'm thrown here and there.
The waves roar in anger
and I jerk back in fear.
You've tasted the world; sweet, bitter and sour.
Lived through it all, crossed the border.
I've been and will always be with you,
don't end all of it now.
Of what use is it to thrive in a circle
of pain and still end in the grave?
In my hand is the key that silences all
your endless misery.
You'll be forgotten by the past that hurt you
and an infinite hole you would
leave in the hearts that love you.
Open your heart and let me in.
"Keep walking."
"Stop."
"Keep walking."
"Stop."
My head feels weighty, I want to drop.
Tears in my eyes,
palms crushing my temples,
seeking strength to control me.
"Keep walking."
"Stop."
"Keep walking."
"Stop!"
The voices grow louder.
Choose me and
be set free.
Hold on to me and
I'll still your storm, remember?
No, choose me!
For I'll give you peace
and no more will you see
this wicked world.
"Keep walking."
" Stop."
"Keep walking."
"Stop. . ."
Confused,
I stare at the waves.
Waves that ease
and magnify my fears.
They roar back at me.
This time, with a different sound; Anguish? Hope?
I stare deeper at the water and
with each second that passes,
memories of what I used to be
and what I am now, come rushing to me.
Would you let your
past win this battle?
Or would you rather take a chance
to rewrite your future?
My thoughts and breaths
fall in slow sync of solemn peace.
A kind of peace I've never felt before
One that makes me realize that life is worth living.
