Jessica's outfit(s)

McCall house/ Liam's house/ McCall house

School

Lying on her bed, a million thoughts filled Jessica's head. Most of them were about the Dread Doctors, the way they acted made the hairs on the back of her neck raise. But some of the thoughts that consumed her were about Malia.

The couple had become quite distant in the last few days, and even though she was too stubborn to admit it, Jessica missed the coyote dearly. They hadn't fought or anything yet, and the McCall girl hoped they never would, but it didn't seem so bright at the moment.

She sighed deeply and buried her face into the pillows, only moving when her phone lit up with a text. Jessica had never grabbed her phone so quickly before, hoping that it was a text from a certain werecoyote.Β

The McCall girl had quite quickly realized that avoiding her problems wouldn't help anyone. Least of all, herself.

But her face fell when she saw it was just a text from Liam. Choosing to ignore it, Jessica threw her phone onto her bed and reburied herself in the pillows, not even caring when it bounced off and landed on the floor.

After ignoring multiple calls and texts, the buzzing drove her insane, and she angrily snatched her phone off the floor and answered. "What?!" she almost yelled, the person on the other line yelping in surprise before sighing in relief.

"Finally! Liam and I've called you sixteen times!" Drew exclaimed, her voice filled with annoyance. Jessica rolled her eyes even tho the Parrish girl couldn't see it, her arms crossed over her chest. "Yeah, I know. There's a reason I didn't pick up, you know!"

The McCall girl didn't have to be there to know that there was a parently look on her best friend's face.

"Well, suck it up! We have bigger problems. Like the fact that Hayden, who we think is a chimera, has currently locked herself in Liam's bathroom and is refusing to come out." Drew explained and Jessica's eyes widened at the information.

"Why didn't you just say that?!" she exclaimed and Drew rolled her eyes. "Well, you would've known sooner if you just picked up your phone once in a while."

🎭

Walking into Liam's room, Jessica wasn't surprised to see Scott and Stiles already there. But she was shocked when she noticed Acindina standing in the corner, looking incredibly uncomfortable as she kept smiling sheepishly at the rest of them.

Without hesitation, the McCall girl walked over to her friend, the two embracing each other with small smiles on their faces. "What are you doing here?" Jessica whispered, making the older girl glance at Scott.

"Well, your brother texted me and told me to come to this address. He said they needed help with a chimera and could need me since I am one too." Acindina quickly explained and even tho she hadn't said it, Jessica knew she was over the moon about the fact that she had been involved.

Drew hastily walked over to them, the relief on her face being visible from miles away. "Thank God, that you're here. No offense to Scott or Stiles, but they suck at convincing teenage girls to unlock a door! Hopefully, you'll have better luck." she quickly said before grabbing Jessica's arm and pulling her over to the bathroom door, Acindina following closely behind them.

"Hayden? It's Scott. I know that you're scared, but we just... We want to help." Jessica cringed as she heard her brother talk, Drew sighing as she heard Hayden's heartbeat increasing. "I can hear her heart beating. She's really freaked out. What happened?" Scott asked Liam, the boy's helpless expression almost making Jessica feel sorry for him.

"She was okay when we got here. I went to text you for two seconds as Drew called Jess and she locked herself in." Stiles furrowed his eyebrows from behind them before speaking for the first time since Jessica had arrived. "Why?"

Liam shrugged and Drew did the same, neither of them being able to explain it. "I don't know." Liam truthfully admitted and Scott put a hand on his beta's shoulder. "She's definitely a chimera?" he asked, making the Parrish girl speak up.

"Yeah, she said she heard a voice saying, "Your condition improves" which is oddly terrifying if you ask me," Drew explained, chills running down Acindina's back at the familiarity of the words. "I heard the same thing when I drove home after the fight at Sinema," she spoke up, Stiles tilting his head slightly.

"Okay, that's unsettling."

The Stilinski boy walked up to the bathroom door, Jessica getting a bad feeling at the determined expression on his face. "Hayden. This is Stiles. Your sister works with my dad down at the station. Look, just open the door okay? You can trust us." he said, Acindina rolling her eyes as she walked over and carefully moved him to the side despite the anger that was obviously bubbling up inside her.

"Not to be rude or anything, but she probably doesn't care that her sister works with your father, or that you just want to help. She's scared and doesn't know what's happening. You both claim to be some supernatural experts, but this time, none of you know what that girl is going through. So just back off and give her some damn space!"

Her outburst surprised all of them, Jessica smiling in amusement at the shocked looks covering her friends' faces. Acindina took a couple of deep breaths to calm down before she knocked softly at the bathroom door.

"Hayden? You've never officially met me before but my name is Acindina. I know what you're going through 'cause the same thing is happening to me. You don't need to open the door or believe us. We just want to explain what's happening so you won't hurt yourself or anyone else." the Narvaez girl softly spoke before stepping away from the door to give Hayden some privacy.

Stiles rolled his eyes when nothing happened and he went to speak but was interrupted by the sound of the door unlocking. Jessica took a step forward and carefully pushed open the door, her eyes widening when she saw the scene in front of her.

Looking down at her fingers that had claws extending from them, Hayden slowly moved her line of vision to them, revealing her glowing yellow eyes and fangs. "I believe you."

🎭

Getting Hayden to not say anything about the supernatural had been a challenge, but after promising to have a sleepover with her when everything went back to normal, Jessica finally succeded.

Drew and Acindina had both invited the McCall girl over to their houses, the mutual worry for their friend bringing the two girls closer. But after deciding that the thing she desired more than anything was some alone time, Jessica had politely declined.

After kicking off her shoes, Jessica wasted no time throwing herself onto her bed again. The mattress felt colder than ever against her bare skin and the big reminder that Malia wasn't there found its way into her head.

Tears slowly welled up in her eyes and she buried her head in her pillows to quiet her sobs. Jessica was thankful that her mother wasn't home, not feeling like talking about anything at the moment. And since Scott had way too much on his plate, he didn't really have time to notice anything being wrong with his little sister, and she didn't blame him.

It took two hours for Jessica's breathing to finally even out, the girl falling into a deep slumber that was much needed. The window slowly opened, Malia carefully climbing in and closing it behind her.

A guilty look formed on her face when she noticed the younger girl's tear-stained cheeks, a small sigh leaving her lips. Malia quietly walked over to the bed and brushed some hair behind her girlfriend's ear, a smile forming on her face when Jessica unconsciously leaned into her touch.

The McCall girl stirred when Malia climbed into the bed next to her, a frown forming on her face shortly after. "Mal?" she asked, her voice quieter than usual. Instead of answering, the Tate girl pressed a kiss to her shoulder, her arms wrapping securely around Jessica's waist.

"Go to sleep." Malia cooed in her ear, Jessica letting a satisfied sigh leave her lips before snuggling closer to the coyote. And just for a moment, the two were normal teenagers, just enjoying each other's presence.Β

But that would be shattered much sooner than the two would like.

🎭

After waking up alone yet again, the day passed by much faster than Jessica had wanted. She didn't like the plan they had for protecting Hayden one bit, but since she didn't have a better idea, she had to go along with it.

Parrish opened the back of his car traveling the jammers he Lydia, and Drew had worked on, Malia letting a doubtful expression form on her face. "We're betting our lives on these?" she questioned, making Jessica tilt her head as she grabbed one of them.

The two hadn't spoken since the night before and the tension between them was pretty awkward.

"I think we're betting Hayden's life on them." Lydia corrected and Parrish sighed before reaching in and grabbing one of the jammers. "Yeah, well, I'm glad I brought my gun," he commented and Drew nodded. "And I'm glad I have my powers."

Jessica chuckled before reaching into her pocket and pulling out a gun. "And I'm thankful I snuck my gun with me." Parrish's eyes widened, as Lydia rolled her eyes, the McCall girl putting the gun back in her pocket again.

"You have a gun?" Parrish asked, making her give him a look. "Well, duh! I'm a human, unlike all of you. I need a way to protect myself." No one had anything to say against it since she made a valid point, but Parrish still didn't like it.

🎭

The pack plus Hayden met up in the locker room when they had spread out all the jammers. Malia was still not convinced that the plan would work, but after revealing a warning look from Jessica, she had stopped voicing her criticism and now instead thought it to herself.

Parrish stood guard outside the school by his car, the gun ready at any moment. Malia had offered to guard the hallway and despite Jessica's worry, she kept a neutral expression on her face at all times so she wouldn't worry Hayden.

After noticing Drew standing in a corner, looking at Liam and Hayden in jealousy Jessica made her way over to her best friend. "You should stop staring. It's creepy." the McCall girl pointed out and Drew sighed.

"What does she have that I don't?" the question caught Jessica slightly off guard but she smiled softly nevertheless. "Nothing. You are just as good as Hayden, even better if you ask me. If he doesn't notice you for what you are, which is incredibly awesome, then screw him."

Drew furrowed her eyebrows slightly, a questioning look on her face. "Is that how all your pep talk goes? Screw him?" Jessica pursed her lips, her eyes slightly narrowed. "Yes," she answered, making the Parrish girl chuckle. Drew embraced her best friend tightly, Jessica smiling happily.

"Well, it doesn't matter. Screw him works perfectly for me." the two stood like that for a moment, a sad expression resting on Drew's face as she watched Hayden smile at Liam, the boy chuckling at something she said.

Not even a hundred different pep talks would make the words "Screw him" true for her, and she knew that. So instead of glaring at him in hatred, like she wanted to do, she let a longing expression form on her face, careful so he wouldn't notice it.
