Chapter one

EDITED ✔️

Standing around the streets of Mexico, Jessica McCall let her russet-colored eyes wander, dark brown hair moving in rhythm with the wind as it unconsciously messed up her hairstyle. The mere fourteen-year-old girl let one of her eyebrows quirk, arms crossed over her chest, matching her sarcastic demeanor perfectly.

The sound of hands clapping together made Jessica glance to her right, her russet eyes meeting the hazel ones of her brother's best friend, Stiles Stilinski. By the look on his face and his conduct, it was clear that he was about to speak, and that he expected the McCall girl to actually take in his words. A small eye-roll went unnoticed, and Jessica refrained from plugging her ears, just to spite him.

"This doesn't seem so bad," Those five words that left Stiles' lips, were enough to tempt the fourteen-year-old into crushing his spirits. Lydia Martin, a close friend to both Jessica and her brother, sighed deeply at her classmate's words, a pointed look being directed towards him.

Brushing a strand of strawberry blonde hair behind her ear, Lydia parted her lips, taking a breath before attempting to articulate some sense into the Stilinski boy. "It's not the town, it's the plan that's a problem." Despite having made known their distrust in their plan more than thirty times, Stiles still seemed shocked upon hearing Lydia's words, the Stilinski boy's jaw-dropping.

"What's wrong with the plan?" he inquired rather desperately and Jessica let her eyes narrow down to small springs as she gave him a disbelieving look. Lydia furrowed her eyebrows at his question, the look she was giving him mirroring Jessica's.

"Stiles, this may be the stupidest plan we've ever come up with. And since we've come up with a lot of bad plans, that should tell you something." Jessica explained to the male, Stiles pursing his lips at her statement.

Lydia hid a small chuckle with a cough, making the Stilinski boy glare at her as Jessica smiled, obviously amused by the strawberry blonde's action. Stiles, who obviously found the two annoying and pessimistic, put one hand on Lydia's back and one on Jessica's slowly leading them forwards.

"I'm aware that the plan is not our best... But that is only 'cause Scott helped come up with it!" he defended himself, making the McCall girl snort loudly, raising a hand to cover her mouth as her eyes were wide open.

She would've loved to disagree with the Stilinsi boy, but deep down, Jessica knew that if Stiles hadn't helped with the plan, they'd probably be jumping in through a window with a hammer before holding the longest speech in the history of the universe. They would've also apologized for the broken window, and she honestly had no idea what the hammer would've been used for.

Lydia, who didn't care about who came up with the plan, crossed her arms over her chest, scanning their surroundings as she sighed. "We are going to die," she stated, instantly making Stiles turn to her with wide eyes. Since she was a Banshee and could predict death, comments like those made him worry for their safety.

"Are you saying that as a Banshee, or you're just being pessimistic?" his voice may have held sarcasm and annoyance, but Jessica could see a worried glint hiding in his hazel eyes. She had learned to do that growing up with her brother and his best friend. She was always able to see if anyone was worried or lying.

The strawberry-blonde teen tilted her head to the right, her lips slightly pursed as she pretended to be deep in thought. "I'm saying it as a person who doesn't wanna die," she told him, making Jessica shake her head. The two had bantered back and forth like a married couple their whole journey, and the younger teen seriously reconsidered declining the offer to go with Malia and Kira instead.

Stiles sighed at his classmate's words, pursing his lips together as he looked at her. "Okay... Would you mind restricting any talk of death to actual Banshee predictions?" He inquired hopefully, but that hope was crushed when Lydia smiled sarcastically and tilted her head.

"This plan is stupid and we're going to die."

Jessica, who was utterly fed up with the two, closed her eyes and sighed, choosing to ignore both of them as Stiles answered. "Oh, thank you." his words contained just as much sarcasm as Lydia's.

The trio made their way through a narrow pathway with lots of stands to the sides. A friendly-looking old woman offered Jessica an apple, which she politely declined in Spanish. It was the first time she ever had to use the language outside of School, a fact she had to tell her teacher. When a creepy-looking man started talking to Lydia, Stiles awkwardly cleared his throat and wrapped an arm around her waist, completely ignoring her protests as he pulled her away.

After finally making it away from the pathway Jessica was incredibly annoyed to find herself walking into some kind of building with even more stands and people offering her random things, and she made sure the others were aware of her discomfort. They reached their destination, which was a big black door that didn't seem to have many years left, and Lydia stepped forward.

"¿Estamos aquí para la fiesta?" She asked in Spanish and Jessica's mouth fell agape. It sounded almost natural coming from the strawberry blonde's lips and if the McCall girl didn't know better, she would've thought her friend was secretly of Spanish heritage.

She also had to admit that she was oddly attracted to the older girl.

The two guards that were guarding the door shared a look before shaking their heads, making Lydia step back again. Since they luckily had a plan B, Stiles pulled out a card with a skull on it instead and showed the guards. The less intimidating guard nodded toward a security camera that hung from the corner of the door frame and Stiles hesitantly walked forwards to hold the card up.

After about two minutes, the door clicked open and the trio walked inside a dark corridor. "This place is really creeping me out," Jessica commented, making the others nod in agreement. Neither of them wanted to be there, that much was clear.

In an attempt to comfort the younger girl, Stiles wrapped an arm around her shoulders and she immediately leaned into him. Jessica silently wished to be at home in her bed watching Star Wars with Drew instead, careful to not look too scared. If she did, she would be excluded from any future trips to Mexico.

Drew had tried to get her brother, Jordan Parrish, to allow her to come to Mexico with the others, but her efforts had been wasted. After accidentally telling him that she would need to travel to another country to have a sleepover with Jessica, he hadn't hesitated to ground her instead.

The lights that hung on the walls rattled loudly and Jessica felt chills go up and down her back. The walk leading to another black door at the end of the corridor seemed to take ages, but in reality, it couldn't have gone more than a few minutes. Stopping in front of the door, Lydia nodded for Stiles to open it, which he hesitantly did.

Music blasted through the room, lights flashing in different colors as more than a hundred people danced close to each other. Jessica wrinkled her nose when the smell of alcohol mixed with sweat reached it, Lydia and Stiles mimicking her reaction.

The Stilinski boy put his hands on Jessica's shoulders when he saw Malia, the newest addition to the pack, dancing on the dance floor along with Kira. "Time for you to go." He said sternly and the McCall girl scowled as he pushed her forwards on the dance floor.

The agreement for Jessica to come along was that she kept out of any critical danger, such as being locked in a room with the leader of the Calaveras.

"Fine, see you both later. Preferably with all your limbs still attached." Jessica stated, her words being mostly directed at Stiles since he had a bad habit of annoying people without realizing it. Obviously annoyed and offended by Jessica's words, Stiles went to talk back but was led away by an amused Lydia.

Pushing through crowds of half-naked people who were dancing way too sexually wasn't exactly what Jessica wanted to do at the moment. But then again, it was better than just sitting at home on her bed doing absolutely nothing.

"Hey, Jess!" Kira greeted the younger girl, an awkward smile resting on her face. It was very obvious that she didn't want to be there either. It seemed like the only person who was actually enjoying themselves was Malia.

She was dirty dancing with a shirtless male, her back pressed firmly to his chest as she leaned her head against his shoulder. Her light brown hair was messy and the minimal amount of makeup Lydia had managed to get her to wear was smudged. One of the guy's hands was wrapped around her waist as the other rested alarmingly near her butt, something Jessica didn't like but Malia didn't seem to mind.

"Hey, Kira. Seen anything unusual yet?" the McCall girl asked, trying to get information that could distract her from the dancing coyote. But to Jessica's dismay, Kira shook her head as she glanced around awkwardly.

"No, nothing yet," she replied anxiously, her almost black eyes scanning the room.

Jessica sighed as her form deflated, russet eyes glancing between a wall and Malia every few seconds. Kira soon left the dance floor again, her nerves making it impossible for her to stand still. Malia and Jessica stayed, the latter making sure to keep her eyes out for anything weird and distinctive whilst the former continued dancing.

With a scowl permanent on her face, Jessica swayed to the music a few feet away from Malia, jealousy welling up in her chest at the scene. She would never admit out loud that she was jealous, but the way her eyebrows were furrowed and her lips pursed, it was pretty obvious. Especially to a werecoyote.

"Hey, Jess! Wanna dance with me?" Malia asked after a few minutes. The guy had left for another girl, a petite redhead, and was now letting her grind on him. Jessica thought for a moment before nodding, a small smile forming on her lips.

"Sure."

"Something's happening!" Kira yelled over the music, her eyebrows furrowed in worry as she looked at Jessica and Malia who were dancing in front of her. The McCall girl nodded her head at the kitsune's words, Malia just grinning like a madman.

"I know." the two responded at the same time, making Kira look at them in confusion. The two girls had noticed just a couple of seconds ago that a few guards were watching them extra closely, but to not seem suspicious, they acted completely unaware.

"What do we do?" Kira inquired, her heart beating so loud that Jessica could almost hear it with her normal human ears.

"Blend in," Jessica answered without hesitation, smirking slightly when she saw the frown on the kitsune's face. "Dance with us, dumbass. If you just stand there looking like a brick people will get suspicious," she commented, making Malia nod in agreement.

Kira silently agreed with the younger teen's words, and she started to awkwardly move her body in rhythm to the music. She looked more like a robot than an actual human. Malia bit her nails to cover the smile forming on her lips as Jessica chuckled, putting a hand on the black-haired girl's waist to pull her closer.

"Just relax," Jessica said in a calm voice, watching as Kira took a deep breath. She put her arms around Kira's neck, swaying her hips to the music in a sexual way. Malia furrowed her eyebrows slightly as Kira started doing the same, both of them now blending into the crowd perfectly.

After a few minutes, Jessica pulled away from Kira, smiling slightly as the now relaxed and carefree girl got a whole crowd dancing around her. Malia didn't waste another second to pull the McCall girl close, smirking at the bright red blush covering her cheeks.

Noticing all of the guards that were previously circling everyone in the club getting closer to them, the coyote leaned forwards slightly. "Ready?" Malia whispered in Jessica's ear, her hot breath fanning over the McCall girl's neck. Goosebumps form on her skin and she nods as Kira starts her glowing nunchucks.

The trio quickly spun around on their heels, Malia half-transformed as Kira stood in a fighting stance with her nunchucks and Jessica raised her fists. Malia hit one of the guards in the face, catching him by surprise before easily throwing him onto the floor. His head hit the ground with such force that he became unconscious, his gun falling out of his hand.

Kira spun her nunchucks around, confusing the female guard standing in front of her. The guard covered her head with her arms, desperately trying to shield herself from the glowing weapon. But Kira soon hit her in the stomach and then in the head, knocking her out completely.

Jessica circled the slim male guard that was trying to attack her. She wasn't a world-class fighter or anything, but she had trained with Chris Argent before Allison's death. She kept her fist up, shielding her face as her feet moved around each other elegantly. The guard sent a punch her way, which she narrowly dodged before hitting him in the face.

Pain surged through her fist at the contact and she grunted. Distracted for only a second, the guard ─who now had a bloody nose─ hooked his leg in between Jessica's, tripping her with ease. She let out a groan when her back collided with the ground, all air leaving her lips as the guard smirked down at her.

But before he could do any further damage, Malia hit him on the back of his head, making him fall to the ground unconscious. Kira offered a hand to Jessica, which she gladly accepted, and let the kitsune pull her off the floor. Glancing down at the now unconscious guard, Jessica smiled slightly at the other two girls.

"Thanks," she said just as a thump sounded through the air. They turned around in time to see Scott stare at yet another unconscious body that had likely been thrown into the wall next to him. The Alpha nodded his head at them, making them hurry over to him as he opened yet another black door.

All four of them walked through the door, Jessica's body tense as she waited for something sudden to happen. The door led to a narrow corridor, making them all walk in a line, Scott in the front and Jessica in the back.

As they round the corner, thick smoke started coming out of a small vent in the wall. Scott held a hand out, telling the girls to stop as he investigated what it was.

"What is it?" Jessica asked her brother, eyebrows furrowed deeply as her russet eyes held worry in them. It wasn't exactly a normal occurrence for smoke to flow out a vent.

Scott turned around to answer but before he could even open his mouth, more smoke suddenly flowed out from the ceiling. Malia and Scott started to cough violently, making realization cross over Jessica's features. She quickly grabbed a hold of Kira's hand, slowly pulling her back towards the exit.

"Kira, we've got to go. The smoke. It's wolfsbane." Jessica stressed, but just as she was about to leave, someone headbutted her with a gun and she fell unconscious onto the floor.

Kira's eyes widened in surprise as she started backing away, Malia and Scott now on their knees coughing due to the thick layer of smoke filling the air.

"Kira, look out, look out!" Scott called out, watching with wide eyes as two more guards snuck up behind the black-haired girl.

But it was too late. Kira turned around just in time to see her attacker but was soon punched in the face. She fell to the floor next to Jessica, leaving only Scott and Malia left awake, but coughing like crazy.

Araya, the leader of the Calaveras, emerged from the smoke with a big smirk on her face. In her hand, she held some kind of taser, and the look on her face told the supernatural creatures that she wasn't afraid to use it.

"Someone who has been an alpha only a few months should be more careful when facing a hunter of 40 years." she gloated, twirling the taser around in her hand.

"All we want in Derek." Scott coughed, searching for some trace of remorse in her eyes. But there was none. Only a taunting look that slowly increased as she crouched down in front of him.

"My Lobito, you're a long way from home," Araya stated, the smirk on her face sending chills down his spine.

Realization suddenly crossed over Scott's features as he looked at the hunter in front of him. Determination suddenly formed in his eyes and he spoke. "You don't know where he is either."

Araya pursed her lips into a thin line, eyes turning cold as she got up. Without a warning, she shoved the taser into his stomach, tasing him unconscious as one of the guards did the same to Malia.

So this chapter went from very detailed to not so much, but I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome! Please comment what you think of the new version, and for those of you who are worried, the handguns aren't removed. They're coming all in due time, haha :)
