Nancy and Steve were hovering over the walls of the shed. It was awkward because the two ex-partners had not been by themselves and now had to face their past. Steve's complex feelings for Bailey and Nancy's affections for Jonathan
"Hey." Nancy spoke, Steve looked at her as he stopped what he was doing. "What you did, um, helping the kids...that was... really cool."
"Yeah." Steve nodded in response. "Those little shits are real trouble, you know?"
"Believe me, I know." Nancy glanced down before something crossed her mind. "I just wanted to say how sorry I am for the way things went between us, Steve."
"It's all right." He stated without giving her a glance. "It was bullshit, right?" He smiled a little to let her know he was kidding.
"Steve, it's okay." He abruptly stopped what he was doing and froze, he was unsure of how to respond or what to do. "Don't worry, Steve. I won't sit here and pass judgement on you. go for him.
He kept thinking, "Go for him," and as he turned around, he saw Nancy looking at him tenderly. His first instinct was to give her a hug.
"Jonathan is a lucky guy to have you Nancy." When Steve smiled and withdrew from the embrace, she blushed a little. "But I'm grateful that you allowed me to love you first."
It turned out that the two individuals who believed they were in love were not intended to be together. Now, however, they were aware of this fact, as well as the fact that the people they truly love are the ones they had caused the greatest harm to, as well as themselves, by forcing themselves to be loved by the wrong people. It was necessary for them to gradually discover their true selves apart from one another.

With his knees curled into his chest and his eyes fixed on the floor, Bailey sat on the couch in the living room. In front of him, Steve was swung his spiked bat. As they waited for at least something, for the one instant that may change everything, he could hear Max and Lucas whispering in the corridor.
Abruptly, the lights began to flicker wildly. The lights were blinking so quickly that Bailey clung to the handle of his knife and looked about.
With the others by his side, he rose from the couch and moved towards the windows. To find out what was causing it, they all turned to look outdoors. Bailey had to turn away from the shed because they could hear Will wailing faintly.
Nothing moved, everything fell still once more, and they remained motionless, waiting for a single second to change. Shortly after the door had opened, Hopper and the others entered and made their way to the table. Hopper picked up a paper and pen and sat down.
"What happened?" Dustin asked.
"I think he's talking, just not with words." Hopper announced to them.
Bailey titled his head to obtain a better view of the envelope as he began to write dots and little lines on it. "What is that?" Steve questioned.
"Morse code." The three boys answered back.
"H-e-r-e" Hopper read out.
"Here." Everyone repeated back.
"Will's still in there..He's talking to us."
They devised a strategy. Hopper would radio all of Will's finger taps, which were converted into Morse code, while Jonathan, Joyce, and Mike would keep attempting to reach Will. In order to create a word, the people in the kitchen would then convert the code into letters.
They all gazed at the printed words, allowing the emotion to seep into their bodies. "Close Gate." All of them stated, it was quite before the phone began to ring, which caused them to divert their attention to it.
"Do you think he heard that?" Max inquired.
"It's just a phone. It could be anywhere. Right?" Steve questioned to the group but no one answered.
As soon as they started to hear shrieking coming from all around the house, everyone looked around, and Bailey immediately moved closer to his knife because it felt like a security measure for him. When Steve turned his head to look at Bailey, he took a step forward, keeping in mind that the two of them were prepared to shield each other from potential threats.

- Steve and Nancy deserve better, just not together so I let them truly talk instead of just letting it go. So Bailey and Steve can truly actually now move on.
