A bed was meant to be a haven where you could feel safe and comfortable while secluded from everything outside the bed's edge. It is where you sleep, lounge around, and occasionally even share. Bailey Cameron thinks it's something he has to be grateful for, because he had to overcome problems to actually get to be able to sleep into the nice mattress. His mother constantly reminded him to be thankful and not take anything for granted before he went to bed. He never understood why, but he intended to stay grateful.
Bailey would constantly tell himself to be thankful for what he had and to never submit to someone who wasn't grateful. Regardless of what he did or even where he was, it was always said to him.Β Bailey never spoke back, only listened.
The boy was curled up inside himself, and the sun's light hardly gave the dark room a vibrant feel. Stunning dark blue covers heavily covered the boy's body.
The sound of heels clicking on the wooden flooring caused him to slowly emerge from his curled up position, whining softly, a soft knock on the door as the clicking stopped. "Sweetheart, are you awake?." his mother's soothing voice came from behind the door.
The door opens to his mother standing there with a grin plastered on her face. She strolled over to the youngster. "Are you alright?" She inquired as she sat down on the bed.
Florence Cameron wasn't born yesterday; she was aware that her son wasn't right, but she chose to wait for him to come to her rather than pursue the matter. whenever he's prepared.
Bailey nodded, feeling somewhat okay but unsure of just how to feel. He was gradually going into panic mode since he was starting school today. "I'm okay." Only if it was somewhat true did he respond.
"Well, maybe having breakfast may help you feel a little better." Bailey returned his gaze to his fingers and nodded silently. Before standing up, she bent over and kissed his forehead, he said nothing as she went out of the room.

Bailey hurried down the manor's stairs, his hands tightly wrapped around the bag he was carrying, straight into the kitchen where he saw father laughing with a man he didn't recognize, and stood silently expecting to be recognized or allowed to enter.
"Ah, Bailey, my son, please come and sit." Bailey stepped up to his father and planted a delicate kiss on his cheek, then sat down next to his mother, who merely patted his knee in happiness.
"So your father just told me about how you're starting school." Bailey looked up slightly as he took a bite of his food. "If I must say, transitioning from homeschooling to a completely new environment is a huge step."
All eyes were on him, waiting for an answer. "Yes, Sir, I suppose it will be a challenge." He replied politely.
"Mr Simmons, here is your new driver, darling," his mother replied, he just nodded "And I'm confident he'll take excellent care of you." Food was placed in front of him, he looked at his staff great-fully. They were more like family at this point than even staff.
While he ate his meal and listened to his parents converse, Bailey's overarching fear persisted as he considered the impending school day and its potential consequences.

Bailey's pulse was pounding like a drum as he stood outside the school doors, watching children come and go as was their daily routine. He moved his bag strap several times before finally opening the door and being greeted by even more pupils.
Everyone was moving so fast that he almost forgot what he was brought here to do, find the office, obtain his schedule, and proceed to his home room. He could go to school all day and not miss the comforts of home.
He took another step forwards till his shoulder was tapped; he jumped a little before turning around to face a girl, perhaps somewhat younger than him, with a bright smile on her lips. "Are you okay?" Her voice was lovely as she inquired.
Bailey didn't sure what to say because this was his first time engaging with people who weren't in his residence. "I'm fine, I just uhh don't really know my way around here yet." He responded with a quick smile that made her face gleam with delight.
"My name is Chrissy Cunningham." She claimed that as she moved herself to stand beside him but not too close to him when she observed he was closing in on himself as she moved.
"I'm Bailey Cameron, and it's a pleasure to meet you." She followed him as he walked into the office, her strawberry blonde hair bouncing slightly. He wondered if this could be the start of a new friendship.
The girl clutching his hand jolted him out of his thoughts, he hastily drew it back, trying to appear unconcerned, which she didn't seem to notice. "This is the office, do you want me to go in and get your schedule?" She inquired, and that smile returned, instantly calming him down.
"You don't have to do that," he whispered, but the girl was already walking inside to the office. He stood silently beside the door, watching students come by. One guy even strutted as he walked, which made Bailey smile.
Chrissy returned, holding the boy's schedule. "You are in some of my classes, so don't worry, you won't be alone now." She replied as she handed it to him, and the boy took it as he glanced over it, a smile spreading across his face as he realized his new companion will be close to him.
They finally started walking again, this time towards his new locker so he could put his new belongings in there. "So, Bailey, what are your hobbies, if you don't mind my asking?" she inquired. Bailey considered everything he did at home before the answer eventually came to him.
"I enjoy reading because it provides an escape from the world around us, and the stories are simply fascinating in terms of what people can come up with." He remarked this as the girl smiled at him, watching him so relaxed about something yet getting more thrilled made her feel good that he was getting comfortable around her.
"What kinds of books do you like to read?" She questioned, matching his excitement as she leaned against the locker, displaying him the book she was reading at the time. "Romeo and Juliet is one of my favorite books to read. Something about forbidden love appeals to me." She sighed deeply as she turned to face someone.
"I'm currently reading Stephen King's The Night Shift. It's as if all of his stories are coming together in the darkest yet most unexpected manner, you don't know what's going to happen next, but you can't wait to find out. The scenery may appear to be familiar, but unexpected events can occur."As he continued to speak, he didn't notice that he was speaking in longer sentences than normal, but Chrissy didn't mind one bit as she listened carefully to what he was saying.
Bailey paused before turning to face the girl. "Do you think I could borrow your book once you've finished reading it?" He whispered quietly, as the girl gave out a tiny squeak of happiness.
"Of course, but only if I read it to you I enjoy reading to others, it helps in some ways." She stated, she would read the book to her brother even though he was annoyed by itΒ she knew he secretly enjoyed their time together.
Bailey nodded before someone attracted his attention, a tall kid with brunette hair walking with a shorter boy and a girl, he didn't know why or how he drew his attention but he did. "That's Steve Harrington, Carol Perkins, and Tommy Hagan. They're only popular because they're wealthy. " She explained to him as they both stood there watching them walk past.
"They sound unpleasant." He said this while completely forgetting about his wealth.
Chrissy blinked up at him, surprised. " Bailey, that is very unkind of you." Bailey grew a small smile at her words.
"You and I are going to be best friends indefinitely, Bailey Cameron." Bailey's shoulders loosened somewhat as she said.
"I truly hope so." He said honestly. She didn't look at him like he was anything other than himself.

He noticed his father and mother standing in the front entry. " How did your first day go, darling?" His mother murmured this as she securely put her arms around him.
"It was wonderful." He replied as he drew back, his hands behind his back, looking up at his father.
Florence turned to face her husband, A dejected expression covered her face. "There was alarming news: a young child had vanished. Your father has invited a few members of his former unit to join him on the search team. Bailey only realised he was wearing a uniform as his mother started speaking.
As with previous generations, Almos Cameron was a high ranking officer who took his work seriously. Now that the youngster has vanished, he is reconsidering his actions; he hasn't heard anything about this town, but it is clear that something was about to stir.
With a nod, Bailey acknowledged. "I will head upstairs and return when dinner is ready." He stated, with his parents observing him, he began to ascend the steps.
With a sigh, Florence turned to face her son's closed door and considered whether or not to go ask him how he was doing. "Give him some time; he'll be fine." Almos said this while kissing his wife on the side of her head.
"I hope so."

- So I adjusted a few things to have Chrissy be more involved in this story than she was originally, and to have her as Bailey's buddy. Because I believe she requires more of a story line than she was given, but that is just my opinion. She is in the same year as Bailey. Bailey is in the same grade as Nancy/Jonathan and I assume Robin. Glad we all clarified that.
To all the people that have supported me closely-
