Bailey took a small breath as he entered the school. In the strange busy circumstances, he was feeling fairly relaxed. When he saw Chrissy bouncing her way towards him with an ecstatic smile on her face, he couldn't help but smile. Bailey came to a halt for a moment after she said, "Hey Bailey ."
Bailey smiled warmly at her. "Hello Chrissy," he replied, and she smiled brightly. He began to feel more at ease around her, which he believed would be a good thing for him, making him feel slightly more confident in himself.
"So, we have one class together today, and you can sit near me so you don't have to sit near anyone you don't like." She said as they continued down the corridor.
Bailey immediately bumped into something, feeling as though his breath had been knocked out as he fell but being grabbed instantly. He looked up to see Steve Harrington staring down at him with a bitter frown.
"What are y- " Bailey scrambles away from Steve, he not once looked at Steve or really anyone in the group now looking at him.
Chrissy instantly beside him, looking at him with concerns. "You're Bailey Cameron, the new kid, and your parents are Almos and Florence Cameron." Carol Perkins gave the child a curious glance that made him feel a little uneasy.
"You should attend Steve's party tonight at his house. it's going to be tiny, but there will be enough alcohol for everyone." Tommy Hagan spoke, placing an arm around his girlfriend's shoulder, making him feel a little uneasy about the entire situation.
"Uh, no thanks, parties aren't really my thing." As he pressed his books against his chest, he muttered hesitantly. He could feel the nervousness creeping up his skin and the panic building in his thoughts.
As the words exited his mouth, the pair began to laugh at him. "How could you not like parties when your parents throw the biggest bashes ever? It's no surprise they don't want someone like you out in public because it would probably ruin their reputation." He gradually began to freak out when his parents were mentioned.
"Maybe he just doesn't like parties." Chrissy spoke up, and Bailey gazed at her with surprise and awe. She was fighting for him. "Bailey actually had plans with me for tonight." She turned around immediately after saying that.
Bailey turned to face Steve, who glanced at him with interest. "Thank you for catching my fall, I appreciate it," he smiled as he turned around to walk with Chrissy.
They went away from the group and burst out laughing. Bailey couldn't get Steve Harrington's face out of his head. The way he stared at him.
Another boy, Bailey saw, was putting up a missing poster. "Who's that?" he asked, turning to Chrissy, who turned to face him with a sorrowful grin on her lips.
"That's Jonathan Byers. His brother has gone missing, and search parties have been dispatched to look for him. I feel terrible for them as well, losing someone so young." Chrissy stated. Bailey remembered his mother's statements from the day before about a youngster going missing.
His thoughts were interrupted as Chrissy gently tugged on his shoulder, leading him to turn to face her. "Come on, I need to see a teacher before classes start. Would you like to come with me?" When she inquired, he turned around to see Jonathan talking to another female.
He turned to face Chrissy and nodded nicely. "Of course, I'll hold your bag for you." She smiled at him and handed him her bag.
"Ever so polite." She smiled.

Bailey thought and thought and thought about it and whether or not the party would be beneficial to him. What would his parents think, and would they let him go to this party?
They sat around the dinner table, having invited several guests over to discuss his mother's new clothing collection. Although Florence Cameron owned her own fashion brand, she mainly stayed in the background and delegated management to others. After having Bailey, she decided to remain a mother while also making sure her own business was operating at a high level.
"Excuse me, for interrupting." He talked loudly but gently. His father and mother both looked at him. "I was wondering if I could go to this party tonight?" He inquired, gazing at both his parents.
It was only a split second, but Bailey felt like it was an eternity. With a kind smile on her face, his mother eventually spoke up. "Of course Bailey, just don't be home to late?" Florence responded.
After a brief period of silence during which his father appeared to be contemplating, he turned to face Bailey and smiled briefly. "Of course, who am I to prevent Bailey from meeting new friends? But you're coming back at eleven tonight." he said.
Bailey gave a nod. "I might be home later than that, a boy named Steve Harrington is holding it." His parents exchange quick glances before turning to face him as he spoke.
"Son, use cautionβthose Harringtons aren't the best. I had the pleasure of knowing his father in school, and trust me, you should exercise caution if he is similar to that man." Knowing full well what the father of Steve Harrington is like, Almos forewarned his son.
Bailey nodded, remembering those words for later. "Mr. Simmons can drive you, why don't you go get a few things and I'll have him meet you outside." Florence informed him before whatever someone was displaying to her captured her interest.
As her son walked away from the table, she turned to face their courteously waiting driver. "Mr. Simmons, will you please stay at the house? I want to make sure Bailey has someone there since I know those people won't be kind to him. Kindly let us know if anything goes wrong." He nodded as she stated, and she then departed the dining room.
"Certainly, Ma'am"

- Chapter 2, how are we feeling?.
- It's time for an overview. Bailey in this chapter has begun to become aware of how others act outside of his own, having been home schooled prior to attending this large public school. So he's figuring out how to feel around the folks he meets. Chrissy and Bailey's connection is adorable, and I'm excited to see it grow. I wanted her to be slightly protective of her friend, Steve and Bailey got to interact. It didn't go well, but this is definitely a slow-burn book, and we'll develop with them as they grow.
