"Bailey, breakfast is ready, darling!"

Bailey let out a small whimper at the idea of leaving his bed. When he did eventually make the decision to stand, he quickly regretted it. He approached his mirror and examined his image. He laughed a little at himself since his brown hair was sticking in all different directions.

He threw on a sweatshirt over the top of a stripped t-shirt and a pair of jeans. After putting on his sneakers and grabbing his bag, he headed out his room door.

His parents were remodelling the house to create more space, so he saw some of their employees and construction workers as he walked down the stairs.

Upon entering the kitchen, he observed his mother seated and having already started to eat.

"Good morning, Mom." He remarked, planting a peck on Florence's cheek. She patted the seat besides her and gave him a smile. "How are you feeling this morning?"

"Okay, your little sister likes to ruin certain mornings." Putting a hand on her stomach's, she spoke. Bailey was overjoyed to be expecting a little sister, but he harboured a small concern that she might be harmed if the monsters returned.

"Mom, it's all right. Please, just take it easy" As a dish was set in front of him, he spoke. Before he began to eat, he gave them a quick glance and expressed his gratitude.

"Dear, are you ready for school already?" His mother asked, taking a sip of her drink. grinning as her helper entered and gave her some documents.

"Yes, Mr. Simmons ought to arrive shortly." He said, but before he could finish his sentence, he heard a car honk. "All right, if Chrissy doesn't want to hang out, I should go home right away after school."

"All right, sweetie, have a great day at school." He kissed the top of her head, and she whispered as she walked out of the kitchen. She observed him go, and grinned.

"He was so incredibly shy last year, but he's improving." Just as they were walking past Florence, one of the employees said.

"All I want is for him to remain this happy." She let out a hopeful sigh.

When Bailey got to school, he saw that everyone was either hanging out or coming and going from the school. Shutting his eyes, he mentally readied himself for the day ahead.

"Thank you, Mr. Simmons." Bailey smiled and opened the door, letting the man out of the car. Closing the door behind him, he approached an enthusiastic Chrissy Cunningham.

"Bailey, you're here!" As they carefully made their way back to the gathering of girls who were standing there, she remarked, Bailey simply smiled at her. Each of them greeted Bailey.

Bailey turned to see a brand-new car parked in the lot; neither the vehicle nor the person getting out of it had ever caught his attention. A boy, a little older than he was, came out sporting a blonde mullet. Bailey's mouth opened slightly upon seeing the boy.

Without uttering a word, the young girl with red hair got out of the car's passenger seat, set down her skateboard, and rolled off.

The lad put his cigarette back in his mouth and grinned at all the girls he passed. "It appears that Steve Harrington has a rival." A girl gave a giggle.

Bailey watched him go, his every move captured by onlookers' fascination. He found it impossible not to stare at the boy since he was so...so very attractive.

When the last bell rung, Bailey was overjoyed that they could all go home and do as they pleased. After rising from his chair, he headed towards the door, where Tina gave him a flyer. "Here you go, Bailey."

He looked down at the flyer and replied, "Thanks, Tina." Realising it was a Halloween Party. he tucked it in between his books.

"You gonna go." Jonathan Byers approached him from the side. Bailey shrugged as he turned to face him.

Nancy Wheeler approached them both, clutching two flyers. "You're coming to this." Giving the flyer to Jonathan, she said.

" '𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘥.' No, I'm not." Jonathan said as the three of them kept moving up the hallway.

"I can't let you sit all alone Halloween. That's just not acceptable." Nancy stated.

"Well, you can relax. I'm not gonna be alone." Jonathan answered, attempting to convince her to give it up. "I'm going trick-or-treating with Will."

"Chrissy will probably want to go, so I may end up going with her." Bailey said.

"No, no way. You're gonna be home by 8:00, listening to the Talking Heads and reading Vonnegut or something."

"Sounds like a nice night." They all came to a stop near Nancy's locker, and Jonathan spoke. Staying home on a busy night and reading from his bookshelves instead of going out was a great decision, in Bailey's opinion.

"Jonathan, just come. I mean, who knows, you might even, like, meet someone." Nancy continued to speak until Steve Harrington arrived to take her up. He only smiled at her response as she let out a loud cry.

Bailey turned to face Jonathan, and both of them had the same dejected expression. One wished to be Steve, and the other to be Nancy. Despite being with the wrong people, all four of them are too afraid, anxious, or even furious due to their own emotions. However, destiny would soon assist them in moving towards the people they actually belonged with.

- Now that Billy has arrived, things are moving slowly at first but quickly picking up speed. It's great that Bailey is expecting a younger sister because she will play a significant role in the story. Bailey and Jonathan were also witnessing their crushes be in love in front of them. That must be painful.
