Queen
My mouth dropped at Cain's words and Syn seemed like he was getting ready to kill him. I held Saint against my chest and took a few steps away from what looked like a fight about to take place.
"Cain!" Cleo snapped. "What the fuck!"
He looked around and held his arms up. "What? I've been trying to bite my tongue but she is not going to tell me what to do. I'm going to say what everyone is too pussy to say."
Lucifer stood up to do something but Gen grabbed his arm and shook his head. "Let him continue. How am I a bitch, Cain?"
I used my free arm to take Syn's hand and I pulled him back a bit. He seemed resistant at first but he obliged in his fuming state. Cain was never the type to call someone out this way so it was worrying to see him do it. He had to be serious.
"Everyone here is acting like you all forgot about the first year Syn died. She just came back and because she tried to kill herself, everything is forgiven. I don't give a fuck how much all of you want to pretend you're good with her, but I won't do it," he said.
He glanced at me sadly and I averted my eyes away from him as he continued. "You're a selfish bitch, Genesis. For almost an entire year after Syn died, Queen begged you every SINGLE day for you to do ANYTHING. Felix deserved to die but because of YOU, he's living even better than before!
Queen came to you once and asked you not to let Xyla take the SinClaire last name, you turned her down. She came again and got on her fucking knees and asked you not to let Felix become king, you denied her again. She came to you more times than I can count but EVERY SINGLE TIME you turned her away!
Then one day, you got lonely and started to reach out. Not because you felt bad, but because no one was spending time with your traitorous ass," Cain seethed. "My sister lost her baby AND her husband all in the same day but because you can't be alone, YOU took away her chance for justice.
I was here every single day picking up the pieces of her that you crumbled whenever you made your fucked up decisions. Because of you, Queen had to endure personal attacks from Xyla and Felix. Not to mention you killing yourself when you knew damn well about your bond with Lucifer.
Regardless , Queen was a fucking wreck and I'll never forgive you for hurting her. You chose a family that locked you up instead of this one. I refuse to welcome you back with open arms.
I don't know how you can sit here and try to talk to me as if you've done nothing to this family. Everyone else can choose to turn a blind eye to what you've done, but in my eyes, you're nothing but a-"
"Enough!" Syn yelled. His tone made me jump and the baby began crying in my arms. Syn turned to us and took him from my arms and Saint stopped crying like always.
"Is what Cain said true?" Syn asked Gen.
"Yes," she whispered as she sniffled and wiped her eyes.
"I understand being so overcome with grief that you can't send Felix to jail. I forgave that, mother. But having my wife get to the point where she needs to get on her knees and beg you for something...?" Syn trailed off as he shook his head.
"Your wife?" Lucifer asked.
Syn look down and closed his eyes before looking back to his father. "My memories are back. I don't even know what to say to you either, father," he admitted. "Both of you have in one way or another hurt Queen. Whether it's making her beg or pressuring her to stay away from me."
"Syn," I said as I reached out for his arm. He looked down at me and I gave him a small smile. "It's all good."
"No, it's not all good," he said to me. He turned back to his parents and ran a hand through his hair. "The both of you knew that I loved Queen more than anything. You knew that her happiness after I died was the most important thing to me, yet you chose yourselves."
"That's not fair," Lucifer said. "I didn't tell you to protect the both of you fro-"
"That's bullshit!" Syn yelled. "You did it to protect yourself. I understand, but don't lie to me."
Lucifer rubbed his temples and dropped his arm in defeat. "What do you want us to do?"
"We'll do anything," Gen said as she wiped her tears.
"Anything?" Syn asked.
"Yes," they both said together.
"Leave," he said. "I forgive the both of you but I need time alone with my wife to see how she's feeling."
My heart soared at the word wife coming out of his lips again and I leaned my cheek against his arm and held his hand. I would've let go of everything that happened so everyone could get along but it made me happy that Syn was trying to put me first.
"We understand," Gen said as she stood up from her chair.
Lucifer stood up after Genesis and they both walked past us to leave. "Wait!" Syn called. When they both turned around, Syn took a step towards his dad. "I want to adopt James."
Lucifer ran a hand through his hair as he looked between me and Syn. "I'm sorry, but no."
"What do you mean no?"
"The paperwork for me to become James' adoptive parent has been underway since before you came back," Lucifer said.
"Okay, but I'm back. Cancel it," Syn demanded lowly.
"No."
