Syn

The strange and sensual dreams with the unknown woman continued for the next three days. From the moment my head hit the pillow to the moment I got up and random parts of the day, my mind would be plagued with her.

Syn

"Syn!" My head snapped in the direction of the voice and I looked at Caspian who was eyeing me suspiciously. "I have been calling you. What's going on?"

I groaned and rubbed my eyes. "I don't know. I keep thinking about this girl," I admitted. A part of me felt guilty that I came here to get lunch with him yet my mind was elsewhere.

Caspian seemed intrigued him and he sat forward and leaned his arms on the table. "Spill. What's her name?"

I laughed softly and shook my head. "I have no idea."

"Is she hot?" Caspian asked with a grin as he sat back.

"I-pfft...she's stunning," I said.

"What does she look like?" He asked as he sipped on his milkshake.

"Umm, brown eyes, curly hair, she has a birthmark above her lip, dimples, curvy body, nice ti-"

"I think I got it," Caspian interrupted with a sad smile. His happy persona was gone and I raised my brow. I didn't know what caused the sudden change in his personality but it was strange.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

He cleared his throat and laughed. "Yeah, I'm good. I wanted to ask you something."

"Go for it."

"What are you doing Friday night?" He asked excitedly.

"Tomorrow?" I asked as I picked up my burger. I took a bit and looked at Caspian who seemed to be thinking. After a few moments, he nodded as if he had made up his mind about something.

"Yeah, are you busy?"

"Nope, not at all," I said.

"Cleo is going out with a few friends of hers. One of them being the new Queen of The Underworld Lucifer told you about," Caspian said.

I rolled my eyes and shook my head at the sound of that. When my father told me someone else had taken over, I was pissed. I was supposed to be the king. But as I thought about it from his perspective, I calmed down. I died, they moved on, the world moved on.

It was shitty but I'd get the throne back eventually though.

"The Queen of the Underworld is getting drinks with you guys?" I asked.

"Yup, she's a friend of ours," he said as he stuffed a couple of French fries in his mouth.

"Hmm, I'd love to meet my replacement," I said dryly.

"Great!" He said mischievously. "Don't mention this to Cleo or Xavier until we get there, please."

"Why?" I asked curiously.

"I want it to be a surprise."

Caspian

What the fuck am I doing? Let me stop acting like it was a fucking surprise to myself that I went against the agreement. Well, technically, I wasn't breaking any promises. I said I wouldn't tell him about his and Queen's past. Never said I wouldn't secretly have them bump into one another.

Xavier and Cleo would be extremely pissed if they found out about it but I couldn't care about that right now. I put myself in Syn's shoes and I would've wanted to remember Cleo and Xavier, regardless of the danger.

I couldn't just flat out turn against them but this would have to do. He described Queen perfectly and it became difficult to not flat out tell him the woman he was thinking about was her.

It was possible that nothing would come out of tomorrow but that was out of my hands. If they saw each other and nothing happened, then we'd move on. But in the off chance that I sense something there, I won't stop coincidentally making them bump into each other.

We ate and talked business for the rest of our time together and an hour later we sat back, stuffed and content.

Syn laughed and I looked at him. "I heard you guys proposed to Xavier."

"Yup, what a fucking shit show," I muttered. Cleo and I had gone crazy planning our proposal and no expenses were spared. We pulled out all the stops, but when we asked... "he said no."

"Cleo told me," Syn said. "I'm glad you all didn't break up over it."

"Me too," I mumbled. "I still wish he said yes, though."

"He will," Syn said confidently.

"What makes you say that?" I asked.

"I have a good feeling."

I didn't understand what he meant but I trusted him since he was Xavier's best friend. "Thanks," I said sincerely.

The bell on the door of the diner jingled and I unintentionally looked in the direction. My eyes widened as I saw Dimitri and he waved and smiled in my direction. Shit.

He walked in our direction and stopped at our table. "Caspian, good to see you."

"Hey," I said as I shook his hand. "What are you doing here?"

"Just picking up some food for Queen. You know this is her favorite," he said with a laugh.

I looked at Syn for a reaction but he just seemed confused as he looked between the two of us. "Who's Queen?" Syn asked.

"She's my girlfriend," Dimitri said. "Also the Queen of the Underworld."

Syn raised his brows in shock and tilted his head up at him. "Really?" He asked. "Queen Queen?"
Dimitri laughed and I let out a forced laugh at the awkwardness that I could only feel.

"I'm Dimitri Russo," he said as he held his hand out to Syn. Syn eyed his hand suspiciously for a moment before accepting it. I needed to stop this before Dimitri revealed anything.

"I'm-"

"Look at the time, we need to leave," I interrupted loudly as I stood up. Syn dropped his hand and stood up from his seat and I was thankful I expertly disturbed the introductions. I didn't need Dimitri to go off on an ex that didn't even remember Queen.

I threw a random amount of bills onto the table and headed to the door. Syn followed behind me, easily keeping up with my long strides. "I didn't get your name!" Dimitri said from behind us.

My eyes widened as Syn's footsteps stopped and he turned around. "Syn SinClaire."

Dimitri's smile dropped from his face and he slowly walked towards us as he studied Syn. "THE Syn SinClaire?" He asked in disbelief. "You're alive?"

"I am," Syn said.

I looked at my watch in agitation and cleared my throat once again. "Okay, we have to go."

"Are we in a rush?" Syn asked.

"Umm, yes," I said quickly.

"Why?" Syn pressed.

"I was going to take you to a club I own nearby," I lied. I wasn't planning to take him to one but I needed something, anything, to get us away from here.

He observed me quietly before nodded and I smiled towards Dimitri. "We'll see you later, Dimitri."

"Maybe I could join the two of you?" Dimitri asked.

I laughed and rubbed the back of my neck and Syn studied me as if he could read all the secrets I was hiding. I wasn't usually a panicky person but I was about to lose my mind here. "Don't you have to get food for your girlfriend?"

"Yeah, I do," he said as he remembered. He shook his head and laughed. "How could I forget?"

I clapped my hands together and turned to leave. "Well, good luck. See you-,"

"We're going out for drinks tomorrow. Maybe you can come," Syn offered. I gasped in shock inwardly and Syn glanced at me. "He can come, can't he?"

"I-umm...y-yeah," I stuttered.

Dimitri plastered a smile on his face and it made me even more scared that he hadn't mentioned Queen. He knew about Syn and Queen's past so his silence was more unusual than anything.

"I would love to," he said. "Where?"

"I'll text you the address," I spoke.

"Sounds good. I'll see you both tomorrow," he said. He walked away from us to go sit down at a booth in the diner and I immediately walked out the door and out to the parking lot.

I ran my hands down my face and turned to Syn who looked calm and unbothered as he always did. "Did you invite him for a reason?" I asked.

"Yes," he said.

"What reason is that?"

"I believe you all are hiding something from me," he said. "Your reaction to the man in there makes me think he knows what it is."

"We're not hiding anything," I lied.

He nodded slowly and clicked his tongue. "We'll see, won't we?"

Ahhh, don't you all just love Caspian? He had good intentions but his plan sorta back fired when Syn invited Dimitri...I wonder how an evening with Syn, Dimitri and Queen will go...👀

Is anyone a little confused why Dimitri didn't immediately mention Queen when he found out it was Syn? In fact, he wanted to hang out with them! I could've sworn last chapter Dimitri wasn't a fan of Syn. I wonder why he is now...🧐
