Dimitri
~1 Month Later~
I sat up in the bed and winced as pain shot through my arm from the most recent attempt to keep Sebastian subdued. Queen kept her word and unfortunately visited me every single day even though I asked her not to.
She even took it upon herself to move me out of the prison and into a private medical facility where I had my own room. Per my request, she spelled it so anyone could come in but I couldn't leave. I didn't want to admit it because I wanted her to get away from Sebastian so badly but I enjoyed her presence.
Her friends had come to visit me in the past month as well and it was nice to meet them as...me.
"You can't keep me in here forever," Sebastian growled.
"I'm not keeping you anywhere, you're just too afraid to come out," I said. I rubbed my temple with my uninjured arm as he began screaming and I shook my head. He'd torturously spend hours yelling and what felt like scraping against my brain.
I looked around at the small four walls in the room and relaxed against the couch. It wasn't much but it felt nice to be in control of myself. Even if it was in confinement.
"She's coming," Sebastian whispered.
I turned my head towards the door and just as Sebastian said, I saw Queen through the small glass windows and I sighed. She was persistent or sure if anything.
The guard opened the door for her and she smiled at him as she walked in with a small bag. "Thanks," she muttered to him. With a familiar loud bang, the door closed behind her and she walked over to where I was sitting.
"How are you feeling today?" She asked with a bright smile.
"I'm good," I replied.
"No need to lie to me," she said with a sigh as she placed the bag between us on the couch.
"She looks amazing in that shirt," Sebastian said with a chuckle. I closed my eyes to drown him out but his laughs echoed in my mind.
"So, I brought you more movies and books. Remember a few days ago I told you about that one movie where..."
"I miss touching her," Sebastian started. "Her soft lips, those sexy moans, her wet—"
"Shut the fuck up!" I yelled back. It was bad enough that I remembered every horrible second of what he did to her, but hearing him relive them every time she visited made me want to throw up.
"So no to the movie?" Queen asked in a small voice.
"No, no, not you..." I said apologetically.
"Sebastian?" She questioned flatly.
"Yes," I admitted in shame. "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault, stop apologizing," she said sadly as she rummaged through the bag. "Here, this is for you."
I gasped as she passed me an ice cream carton and she laughed. "My favorite," I whispered. "How did you know?"
"Hades told me," she said teasingly as she sat back.
His name made me momentarily freeze and Queen eyed me suspiciously. Lately, she'd been slipping him into the conversation to gauge my reaction and I was always stunned. She told me that he was the one who helped them find out about Sebastian but that somehow hurt me even more.
How did he had suspicions but never act upon them until now? I wanted to give him a chance to explain but I didn't know how I felt about seeing him.
"You're still mad at him?" Queen questioned.
"No, not at all. It's just...been a while," I muttered as I looked down at the ice cream.
"Hmm," she hummed. She must've taken my awkwardness as a hint to drop the subject because she leaned down and took out two spoons from the bag.
"Here," she said.
I looked between her and my injured arm a few times humorously and she winced when she got the message. "Sorry," she whispered. She lifted the top from the carton in my hand and set it aside.
When she put it down she looked around awkwardly and rubbed her palms against her thighs before looking back at me. When I raised a brow at her she gave me a nervous smile and pointed at the TV.
"Should I turn on the movie?" She asked.
"Queen, you've been here every day for weeks now. Why are you so weird today?"
"No reason," she said as she walked towards the television and slid the movie disk in. She grabbed the remote and quietly pressed play before sitting back. I looked at her curiously and wondered what was going on.
"What's going on?"
She sighed and ran her hands through her short hair. "You know how we've been looking for a way to get Sebastian out of you without him jumping into another body?"
"Yes."
"We haven't found anything. And we also realized that the only thing keeping you from not dying is Sebastian's vampire DNA. If you die, he'll just go into someone else."
Sebastian's condescending laugh ensued in my mind again and I shook my head. "Queen, I already told you what I wanted. It's the only way."
"I'm not going to leave you locked up with him forever," she urged. "You deserve to have your own life."
I sighed and she shifted in her spot on the couch. "Just give us more time to figure something else out." When I didn't answer she clasped her hands together and gave me a pleading look. "Please."
"Fine," I whispered.
"She's not going to find anything. Kill yourself," Sebastian requested tauntingly.
"Thank you. I promise we won't give up until we find a way."
I gave her a bitter smile and she grinned, not knowing how I was truly feeling. Her unyielding hope in my recovery was refreshing, however, it was painful. Even if they got rid of Sebastian, someone else would take over eventually.
"I guess I'm going to have to feed you," she said sweetly as she took the ice cream from my hand. I let it go weakly and she scooped up the desert and held it up for me. I hesitantly took it into my mouth and closed my eyes as the cool and sweet taste filled my mouth.
"Good?" She asked.
"Amazing."
She laughed and we both turned back to the horror movie she put on. She occasionally spoon-fed me the ice cream and we made random comments about the stupidity of the characters throughout the film.
Queen looked like she was having a good time but after all these months and watching her through Sebastian's view, I could read her a bit.
"Syn isn't back, is he?" I asked.
Her smile dropped and she shook her head as she looked down at her fingers. "Nope, he hasn't called or texted me or anything."
"After proposing to you?" I asked.
"Yes."
"That's fucked up."
"I know right? And he took Bezy with him and I'm so worried. The least he could do is at least call, right?"
"Right. Has he reached out to anybody at the palace?"
"Nope, no one."
"How are you sure he's not hurt or in danger?"
She scoffed and held her hand over her chest. "I can feel that he's fine. He's not hurt in any way whether it's emotionally or physically. He's just not fucking coming home."
"That's because of that bond thing?" I asked.
"Yup," she said in disdain.
"So I assume the both of you are no longer together..." I said slowly.
"I- I don't know," she said in a drained voice. "If he wanted to be with me he'd at least call. Maybe be changed more than I thought after he came back."
"Well, I'm sorry," I said. "I hope things turn out for the best for the both of you."
"If he ever shows up, we'll see."
"He's never coming back," Sebastian laughed inside of my mind.
"What do you mean?"
"I'll only talk if Queen heals you and lets me out," he said in a chilling voice.
I was willing to believe him until he mentioned being let out. Recently, that was all he talked about. He would try to trade anything, make up any lie for me to heal myself and give up control.
"Stop lying and shut up."
Queen yawned beside me and I ignored Sebastian's scheming as I turned to her. "You should go home."
She glanced at her watch and shook her head as she looked at me. "I've only been here for like an hour. Plus I haven't started my daily interrogation."
"Fine, finish it, and then go home."
"When I was here yesterday, you implied that somehow Lilith and Eve were involved in letting Sebastian possess you. Can you explain?"
"Don't explain, or else," Sebastian screeched.
"I can't answer that."
"Fine, why did Lilith help him?"
"Don't answer."
"I can't answer that either, I'm sorry."
"You know what?" Queen said. "I'd like to speak to Sebastian. He can hear me right?"
"Yes, he can," I said hesitantly. "Are you sure you're ready?"
"I need to stop being afraid, plus he's in your mind. He can't touch me," she said confidently. "Sebastian..."
"Yes?"
"Yes?" I repeated for him.
"This is so weird," she whispered. She quickly shook her head and cleared her throat before looking back at me again. "Why hurt me? We grew up together. What happened to us being best friends and protecting each other?"
"You betrayed me."
I repeated what he said to her and she gave me a confused look. "I betrayed you? How are you suddenly the victim right now?"
"I love you. But you always choose him over me, even though I deserve it."
"You love me but you..."
"It was a punishment. You wasted my time and I deserved something in return."
"And the other girls? Did they deserve it too?"
At her question, Sebastian remained quiet in my mind and Queen patiently waited for an answer. "He's not talking anymore," I said.
"Of course he's not," she said in disgust. "Dimitri, just ignore him and tell me what you know, please."
"I wish I could, Queen. But if I do, as soon as he gets out, he'll keep his promises."
"Why didn't you say 'if' he gets out?"
"Because he will, eventually."
