Syn

I checked my watch for the millionth time since Queen had disappeared into the closet. I told her to dress casually so I didn't understand why she was taking so long.

Maybe she changed her mind.

That was my nerves talking. I had never been on a date before, at least not that I could remember. In the past with any girls I was seeing, I never bothered.

What if I'm boring? What do I even talk about?

My questions made me wish that I had gone on dates before her so I could be more experienced. She deserved the best but I was far from that.

But she knew who I was before I died, right? And she married me regardless...so maybe she won't care that I'm horrible at these things.

I turned to the closet door when I heard her footsteps coming towards it and I stood up. Sit, this is weird. I immediately sat back down again but as soon as she opened the door, I stood up and my breath caught.

"Hey," she whispered as she walked out.

"You look..." I was at a loss for words and couldn't find the words to express my bewilderment.

"Syn relax," she said as she looked down at her clothes. "It's whatever."

"It's not whatever, you look amazing."

Granted she wasn't wearing a luxurious dress, but she was mesmerizing. Her ripped jeans clung to her curvy lower body and her black lace crop top accentuated the swell of her beautiful breasts. The black matching heels made her legs look like they went on for miles and I imagined them wrapped around my waist while I-

"Earth to Syn," she said with a laugh.

I blinked a couple of times and looked back at her. "Hey."

"Hi," she giggled.

I stood in front of her and couldn't help but feel like I should've been handing her something. Shit. "Flowers."

"What?" She asked. I moved to snap my fingers but she rushed to me and held her hand over mine. "No magic, remember?"

"Shit, right." How could I forget that?

"I don't need flowers," she assured. "They die when I touch them anyway." When she noticed the confused expression on my face she shook her head. "Story for another day."

"Got it," I said as I grabbed the keys from the counter and headed for the door.

"Midnight blue was a good choice," she said.

"Excuse me?" I asked as I glanced back at her.

"For your hair, I like it. Your eyes are going to be kind of hard to get used to," she said humorously.

"What? I don't look good with brown eyes?" I joked.

"You look good in anything," she said.

"So do you," I said. "Who knew you'd pull off green eyes?"

"Me," she said as she moved to flip her hair over her shoulder. When her hand connected with air she pouted and I laughed. "I'm not used to this."

"You look good, trust me. I think I like this even better," I admitted as I move an out-of-place hair.

"Really?" She asked.

"Yes." Her now burgundy hair was in two buns on either side of her head with curly strands of hair spilling out onto her face.

I wouldn't have even noticed the style with anybody else but it was different with her. Reasons why I fell in love with her before were becoming incredibly evident. I didn't doubt that I'd experience that all over again as I got to know her.

"We need money!" She said in realization as she walked to her library.

"I have some money on me," I said.

"Just in case," she said.

"I'm taking you out, Queen. I can pay."

"You can still pay, this is all your money," she said as she pulled out a book.

"You're going to read..."

I stopped talking when she opened the book and revealed a cutout compartment where a large stack of cash was. "You have money in a book?" I asked.

"Is there anywhere safer to have them?" She questioned as she set the money in the bed.

"You cut the pages out..."

"How else would the money have fit, Syn?" She squinted her eyes at me. "Do you know some secret physics about space and volume that I've never heard of?"

"You have a lot of books, Queen," I said as I glanced at the library.

"You left me a lot of money," she said with a sad smile.

"You didn't use it?" I questioned.

"Nah, I kept it for emergencies."

"So all these books are full of money?" I asked as I walked towards the library.

"Yes," she said.

I pulled out three books and opened them to find them full of money as she said and I turned to her. "Were you planning on going on the run?"

"No, but after all I've been through these past years, I could never be sure. So...just in case."

I glanced back at the library and a book that wasn't fully on the shelf caught my eye. "What's this one?"

"Umm no..."

She tried to stop me from reaching for it but I beat her to it and flipped through the pages. "There's nothing in here. Why'd you try to hide it?"

I closed the book and looked at the cover to see a shirtless man choking a girl. My eyebrows raised as I read the title and looked back at her. "Sold To The Vampire Dom?"

She covered her face in embarrassment and I opened a random page in the book. "His fangs sunk into the inner flesh of my pussy and I-"

"Syn!" She exclaimed as she tried to take the book. "Stop! Please!"

I held the book up high and out of reach from her as I laughed and continued. "And my body reached a climax like I'd never experienced before. His brother wasn't even this good with his tongue...wow," I said.

"Oh my...ughhh," she groaned into her hands.

"He removed his teeth from my flesh and I felt the warm blood stream down my inner thighs and my body trembled with uninhibited rapture."

"Syn please," she begged with a laugh.

"You've read this before, don't be shy. Let's finish the paragraph," I said as I leaned against the shelf. "His tongue trailed from my bare mound to my breasts and landed on my lips. 'You taste like Heaven'...yuck," I added.

Queen scoffed and I continued. " 'Like the gods themselves have delicately handmade you to be everything I want and crave,' he whispered, his heated breath burning my skin. 'Turn me,' I begged him...you like this shit?" I asked.

"It's...interesting. Educational," she said.

"I watched as his lips turned up into a smirk and he flicked his tongue over his bloody lip. 'Why would I turn you? I much prefer you this way. When I can taste that sweet blood of yours, watch your porcelain skin turn red from my hands, listen to that heart of yours begging me to drain the life from your body. I don't want you forever Eliza, I'll use you until you are of no use to me.'...Well ouch," I said.

"You have a nice reading voice," she admitted.

I closed the book and passed it back to her. "They have a happy ending, don't they?"

"I'm not sure, more books are coming," she said while she put the book away.

"Hopefully they do," I said.

"You like happy endings?" She asked in surprise.

"Who doesn't?"

"Me sorta. I think bad endings are more realistic," she admitted. "Anyways, we should-"

"Do you think we're going to have a bad ending?" I asked.

"No," she said. "Because we're never-ending."

"Good answer."

I held my hand out for her and we walked out of the door together. We made the short journey to the parking lot and I got onto the bike. She lingered back as she held the helmet in her head and I raised my brow at her.

"Do you think Xavia is okay?" She questioned.

"I don't know, but I do know that she's the strongest parts of the both of us combined. Whatever is going on, she's going to figure it out."
