Syn grinned up at me with an emotional look on his face and I remained in my spot. What the hell did he mean it was empty?

"Stop playing with me," I whispered.

"I'm not playing, Princess. Look for yourself." He jumped out of the hole and I took a step forward as he said. He nodded at me, silently urging me to take a peek and I did.

I moved my head over the burial place and covered my mouth when I looked into an empty casket. I looked back at Syn and he laughed softly. "Where is she?"

"I have no idea, but she's somewhere," he said.

"She's alive?" I asked.

"In one way, shape or form she is...somehow. I'm still not sure about it all," he said as he rubbed his temples.

I walked over to him and he crossed his arms and looked down at me. "I'm sorry for being a bitch a few minutes ago."

"You weren't a bitch," he said sincerely. "Your reaction was well deserved. What I said sounded crazy."

"But it was true," I said happily as I looked back down at the empty grave. This felt surreal, almost like a dream in some way. The love of my life was back, and now my daughter might've been as well. The anxiety from waiting to be woken up and trying not to get too excited was overwhelming.

"How did she look?" I asked excitedly.

"I'm not sure, I was drunk as shit," he mumbled regrettably.

"Well, did she seem happy? Was she scared? Why was she at a bar? How did she get there?" I rambled.

Syn gave me a small and pulled me against his chest. "She was...lively, she sounded happy. She didn't seem scared to me. I think she came to see me and I have no idea how she got there."

I smiled at his answers and thought more about her. After she died, I spent many sleepless nights thinking about the amazing woman I knew she would've grown into. It was soul-crushing but I couldn't stop myself.

"Tell me what happened at the bar again?" I asked.

He told me from beginning to end how she started a conversation with him. How they talked about me, her advice, how the bartender claimed to not have seen her...At the end of his story, I was left more confused than I was when we started.

"So she was a grown woman?" I asked again.

"Yes," he answered.

"That's so weird," I muttered. I looked back up to Syn to ask another question and he looked down at me with one hundred percent focus and alertness. The attentiveness made my cheeks heat and I looked away from him. "I'm being annoying, I'm sorry."

"You're good. I'll answer any questions you have."

"I honestly have one now," I said simply.

"What is that?" He asked.

"What do we do now?"

"I'm not sure," he answered. "But I think we wait for her. She found me easily once and if she wanted to find me again, I'm sure she would."

"Okay," I whispered. I trusted his input right now more than my emotional one. I looked at the pile of first around us and groaned. "We need to put all of this back."

"Why?" He questioned.

I scoffed and raised a brow at him as I stepped away from his hold on me. "Because it's disrespectful."

"So you care about-" He stopped talking when I gave him a look and he sighed. "Let's put it back."

After about thirty minutes, we were done. It was obvious that the grave had been dug since the contrast in green grass to dirt was apparent, but this felt more respectful than leaving mounds of dirt. It would've been nicer if Syn was being as neat as I was but...it's Syn.

I yawned and he rubbed my shoulder as we walked back to the motorcycle. There was only one streetlight on in the dirt road and I squinted my eyes as I saw a figure there. "Syn," I whispered as I jabbed his side.

"What?" He asked with a wince as he looked down at me.

"Look," I said as I pointed to the light.

"I don't see anything," he said.

"I just—...I-" I stuttered as I looked around the area. "I swear I saw someone there."

Syn frowned and walked to the light. I followed behind him and ran a hand through my hair when I saw nobody. What the fuck? "I could've sworn I saw somebody, Syn."

His eyes remained down on the floor and I reached out for his arm. "I promise I'm not going crazy, I saw someone."

"I know," he whispered.

I followed his eyes down to the floor and my eyes widened when I saw a set of footprints. I looked up out at the cemetery and if they were standing there, they would've had a perfect view of us.

"What do we do?" I whispered in a frightened voice. I wasn't scared of the person that was here, I was more afraid of the mystery behind it all.

A phone began ringing and Syn's eyes widened as he looked down at me. "Didn't you get rid of your phone?!" He yelled in a hushed voice.

"I did, I swear," I said as I pat my pockets.

His eyes moved behind me and I turned to see a telephone booth on the side of the road. The ringing was coming from there and Syn and I glanced at one another before he began walking towards it.

I pulled his arm and gave him a shocked look to stop him. "The fuck are you doing?" I asked.

"Answering the phone," he said with a shrug.

"Have you watched any scary movie ever?! The telephone booth in the middle of nowhere is a warning Syn," I said. "What damn telephone booth have you seen that rings?!"

Syn smirked at me and took a step back towards it. "You scared?"

I looked around nervously and then back at him. "This is the beginning of the movie where the boyfriend wants to explore and pressures the girlfriend into joining. You're going to get us killed, Syn!" I said in a low voice.

He laughed and shook his head. "I'm your boyfriend now?" He questioned.

"I-..." my voice was cut off by my nervousness and I looked down at my feet shyly.

"Funny how that made your heart beat faster than the possibility of death," he laughed. He walked into the telephone booth and I whined before running after him and going inside.

We stood cramped inside of the glass booth and Syn looked down at me before picking up the phone.

"Hello?" Syn said.

"Mom, Dad," a woman's voice said quickly. We almost immediately recognized the voice and our eyes widened.

My heart stopped and I swallowed a lump in my throat. "Xavia-"

"Run! Now!" She yelled.

"Run from what?" Syn asked.

"Look behind you," she said.

We both turned as she commanded and I burst out into laughter. "Oh, we're fucking screwed."

Seven police cars pulled up in front of us and we watched as they got out of the car and held weapons up at us. "Don't move! Your highness, come out."

I sighed and peeked at the sun rising in the distance and then back at Syn who was leaning against the glass and looking at them in boredom. "Xavia, how did they know we were here?"

"A man was watching you both," she answered.

I nodded and closed my eyes in remembrance as I recalled seeing someone under the street light. That must've been the man she was talking about.

"Where is he?" I asked.

"I took care of it," she answered.

"That's my girl," Syn mouthed and I rolled my eyes.

"How are you?" I asked worriedly. "I missed you so much."

"Umm...mom, this isn't the time, is it?" She said with a laugh. "The police have their guns up at you."

"I don't care," I said.

"I'm fine mom, and I'll be better if you both don't get caught."

"We're already caught," I said. Syn and I had no weapons while they had dozens aimed at us. They were probably strong enough to hurt and capture if not kill us. They wouldn't bring something weak to take down, Syn.

"Nope, just follow my instructions," she said.

"Okay," Syn answered.

"I'm going to lift the magic lock for two seconds," Xavia said.

Syn furrowed his brows and shook his head. "You can't stop the spell of ten warlocks, it's impossible."

"I can and I will," she said. "Just trust me."

Syn looked down at me as to ask for my input and I nodded. If there was one person in the world we could trust, it had to be her.

"I'm strong, dad. I got this," she insisted.

Syn sighed and nodded his head. "Okay then."

"While it's down, you both need to snap and get rid of them. After that, leave because more are coming."

"Come out slowly with your hands up!" An officer screamed.

"Snap your fingers when I say now," she said. I leaned on the opposite wall of Syn and we both raised our hands to snap as we looked at one another.

"Three," Xavia counted.

"If you don't come out, we'll come in!" They yelled as they walked towards us.

"Two."

The officers hurried to the booth until they were surrounding it from all sides and I closed my eyes. One man banged his gun against the glass but I took a deep breath and relaxed.

"One. Now!"

Syn and I snapped our fingers together and suddenly the noise stopped. I peeked open my eyes and looked outside to see all the officers laying on the floor.

"We're not going to be located, right?" Syn asked.

"No, not from that. But I can't really do that again for a while so still use no magic," she said.

Syn sighed and leaned his head against the glass. "Should I just turn myself in and deal with it from there?"

"Absolutely not," Xavia answered.

"Why?" I asked.

"Every single system Dimitri has in place right now is set up to send Dad to jail or kill him. No matter how small the crime, if you go home right now..." she trailed off.

"If we go home what?" Syn asked.

"Just wait a while, please."

"Where are you?" I asked. "Can we at least see you?"

"Look behind you."

We looked and when we saw nothing, I laughed and turned back to the phone. "I don't see anything."

"Oh..right, sorry. I forget that I'm invisible sometimes. Look again."

We turned around once again and I covered my mouth as my eyes became watery. Xavia held her arms out and grinned towards us nervously. "Hey."
