Syn

"I..." Lucifer hugged me and I froze at his touch. It's not as if I didn't want to hug him, there were just more too many things on my mind right now. One pressing one was why I was here. I was shot. I died. And now I was chained to a cell that I used to torture people in the past. Confused wasn't the word to describe how I was feeling.

"Unchain me, maybe?" I said.

Jack came behind me and removed the chains that held me. My father remained hugging me and I let him continue until he pulled away. He wiped his eyes and looked up at me with a grin. "My son."

"Hey," I mumbled awkwardly as I rubbed my wrists.

"It's been so long," he laughed as he laid a hand on my shoulder.

"How long exactly?"

"Almost three years," he said as he sobbed. My eyes widened as I looked down at him. I had never seen him cry before so this was awkward, to say the least. I stood there as he cried and after a few moments I nervously pat his shoulder to calm him.

3 yearIt felt like it was only yesterday that everything happened. Hearing that it was three years ago sounded insane.

"How is everyone?" I asked.

"Umm," he said as he stood up straight again. "You can see them."

"Okay," I whispered.

My father hurried to the wall to create a portal and I looked around the room as I stretched. It felt like I was only here a few days ago and tortured...and tortured...I closed my eyes and tried to remember who but I couldn't.

My eyes landed on Jack who gave me a nervous smile. "I'm sorry, your majesty. There have been clones of you, we didn't know."

"Clones of me?" I asked.

"I'll explain later," my father said as he stood up.

I walked forward to go to the portal and I heard a crinkling underneath my foot. I stepped away to look down at the paper my father had read and picked it up. My brows furrowed as I read the note.

"Who's Queen?" I asked. He mentioned the name earlier and now it was on the note.

He walked over to me and laughed as he took the note from my hands. "I wrote the note to you on you and you died with it in your pocket I guess. Don't you remember?" He asked.

I felt like there was more to it but he had no reason to lie to me and I wouldn't cause a big deal over a note from years ago. I'd ask questions later but right now there seemed to be more important things.

My father ushered me into the portal and I stepped onto a grey marble floor. I looked around at the modern mansion and my eyes landed on James sitting on the couch. His eyes were wide and his fork was midway to his mouth in shock. He looked as if he had seen a ghost and I smiled at him, knowing he must've felt that way if I was gone all this time.

"I thought you were in bed," My father said nervously.

James dropped his fork and his plate clattered to the floor with a crash as he ran to me. I lifted him as he wrapped his arms around me and he broke down in my arms. "You're a lot heavier than last time," I joked.

"You're alive?" He choked out.

"Obviously," I said.

He continued crying and my father crossed his arms as he looked at us happily. My eyes roamed around the room and when they landed on the TV, I gasped. "You continued our show without me?" I asked in an offended tone.

"I waited a year," he cried. "I thought you were gone forever."

His words made me feel bad for him and my father but I pushed down the surfacing sadness and sighed. "Well, I'm back now. Will you rewatch it with me?"

He removed his head from my shoulder and nodded quickly as he wiped his eyes. "Yes."

I set him back down on the floor and my father took a deep breath. "Get cleaned up, Syn. There are a few people that would like to see you. I need to go out for a few minutes but I'll be back."

Queen

I rushed to the bathroom door when I heard a commotion in my bedroom. "Get out!" Bezy yelled. "Need door enter. No poof!"

"Unhand me, you gremlin," the person yelled back. I laughed as I recognized Lucifer's voice and shook my head. I opened the door and Bezy held Lucifer in the air as Lucifer attempted to fight back.

"Bezy, you can put him down," I laughed.

Bezy groaned but dropped him to his feet. Lucifer shot him a scowl and adjusted his suit jacket. He looked back at me and I noticed his red puffy eyes and I raised a brow. "What's going on?"

"I have news," he said.

"What is it?"

He glanced in Bezy's direction and smiled. "Leave please."

Bezy crossed his arms in defiance and I gave him a sweet smile. "Can we have a few minutes, Bezy?"

He nodded enthusiastically and gave me a crooked smile. "Bye!" He left the room and shut the doom behind him and Lucifer turned back to me.

"What's the news?" I asked.

"After I tell you, I'm going to need you to do something and you're going to hate it," he said as he closed his eyes.

My brows furrowed and I walked to my bed to fix it. "What is it?" I said as I picked up a pillow from the bed.

"I need you to promise me you'll do what I ask, afterward."

"How can I promise when I don't know?" I said with a smile.

"It's for everyone's good," he said seriously with a solemn expression on his face.

I frowned and crossed my arms. He knew me well enough to know that I wanted the best for most people. Maybe that's how he knew I would agree. "Okay, I'll do it."

He gave me a sad smile and took a deep breath. "The clone was Syn."

"What?"

"The clone from tonight. The 'meteor', was the real Syn. I cut him and that's why you were wounded earlier when I called. I wanted to see if it was truly him."

I swallowed a lump in my throat and my heart sped up. My necklace, my injuries, they began to make sense now. Syn was back. Is he? Heaven had to be playing some sort of joke of me. I shook my head in Lucifer's direction as a tear fell down my face. "It can't be."

"It is," he said with a smile.

"Where is he?" I asked as I walked towards the door.

Lucifer grabbed my arm and shook his head. "There's more."

I slowly turned back to face him and he pulled a damaged paper from his pocket and passed it to me. I read the note from my father and my heart stopped. My head snapped back to Lucifer's direction and he closed his eyes.

"What is this?!" I cried.

"It was in Syn's pocket," he said lowly.

I blinked and more tears fell as I looked back at the note through teary eyes. No memory, no bond...my heart splintered at the written words and it hurt even more that my father had written it. He had to have meant it if he was writing to me considering I hadn't seen him since Xavia died. He wouldn't have risked Lilith finding him unless it was important.

"He doesn't remember me?" I asked as I looked back at Lucifer.

"I asked him about you but he has never heard of you," he said.

I crumpled the paper in my hand and covered my mouth as a sob escaped my body. I dreamed about Syn coming back to me for years, but now that he was back, he didn't remember me. Lucifer walked up to me and pulled me into a hug as I cried. My cries were far from natural. They were full of pain as the memories I had with Syn passed my mind. Memories that he didn't remember.

I wiped my eyes and pulled away from Lucifer. "Does he remember Xavia?" I asked.

"I don't know. I'll ask him."

"Can I see him?" I asked in a broken voice. It would destroy me to see him and have him not remember me but I needed to be in his presence after all this time. I need to be near him even if it would kill me inside.

Lucifer sighed and I was puzzled by the look on his face. "That's the thing I need to ask you to do that you'll hate."

"I don't understand," I whispered sadly. My body was trembling with unreleased sobs and the need to just check in on Syn was strong.

"I don't want his memories to come back and I need you to not be with him," he said. It looked like it pained him to say it but he did and he averted his eyes away from mine.

"What do you mean? Why?" I asked.

"I just got him back," he said. "I can't lose him again. The vendetta Heaven seems to have against you guys is dangerous for the both of you."

I crossed my arms and blinked away the tears wanting to spill and he continued. "James just saw him after years, he couldn't handle losing him again. I'm sure none of us could. I'm afraid if the two of you got back together..."

I looked down at the floor and held my breath. What he was asking me for would destroy me. "Queen, I know you don't want to lose him either," he said with teary eyes. "This is for the best."

"I know," I admitted as my shoulders shook and fresh tears escaped.

"You're family to me and you always will be. If I didn't believe in and care for you, I wouldn't have chosen you to take over Hell."

I nodded at his words and took a breath as I looked up at the ceiling. "So I can never speak to him again."

"Of course you can, when you're ready and sure you won't break down. I don't even want him asking questions," Lucifer said.

"And if he asks why I'm the Queen or who I am?"

"I'm not sure of anything honestly. Maybe introduce yourself at some point," he said with a defeated shrug. "I'm so sorry to have to ask you to do this."

It hurt but he was right. Syn and I being together in the first place was what killed him. All of the jealous people around us because of me along with my parents aided in his demise. It wouldn't be fair to anybody if history were to repeat itself.

"N-no. I understand," I said.

He gave me a sympathetic smile and ran his hand through his hair. "If it makes you feel any better, Dimitri truly loves you."

I nodded.

"I've never seen the underworld more united than before the two of you met," he added.

"Why are you saying all this?" I asked.

"I heard he proposed."

"You want me to say yes," I said with a laugh and knowing nod. After knowing Lucifer all this time, it didn't take long for me to learn about his ways. How he would imply things without directly saying it, or making you feel like something he suggested was your idea. I used those skills of his, but of course, I knew when he was using it on me.

"I didn't say that," he said. "I just think you should consider it."

I shook my head and sighed. "Okay, Lucifer."

He nodded and looked towards the door. "I'm going to give you some space. I'm sorry again."

"Will you tell everyone else not to mention me around him?" I asked.

"If you want to tell them you can..." he suggested.

"No," I said as I moved to my bed. "You can tell them."

"Bye Queen," he said as he opened the door.

I wasn't angry at him but I didn't want to respond. There was nothing I could truly say. I heard with leave the room with a sigh and that's when I let my tears fall.

Everything Syn and I had, all the moments, love, hard times, our daughter...flooded all through my mind. And I cried that they'd forever remain in my mind, and mine only.
