Queen

Syn being able to ride a motorcycle surprised me in the best way possible. I felt at complete ease as I laid my cheek against his back and the cool breeze passed us. All of the streets were practically empty so he went as fast as he wanted.

The motorcycle came to a slow and I looked up to see the large store. Syn parked into a random spot in the large but empty parking lot and got off. "Wait here for me," he said. "If I'm not back in seven minutes, leave."

"I'm not leaving you," I said.

Syn sighed and passed me the gun in his waistband. "When do you even put this in there?" I asked as I held the gun.

He shrugged. "I don't know, maybe it magically pops up whenever I put on clothes," he said.

"Really?"

"No," he answered. "I'll be right back."

I nodded and Syn had his head down low as he walked into the store. Seven Minutes. I didn't have a watch or a phone, how was I supposed to tell when the time was up?

Looking around the dark and empty parking lot, I saw no option than to count down from 420 seconds. I tapped rhythmically on the seat as I counted and when I got to 300 seconds, someone tapped on my shoulder.

I immediately turned around and was greeted by a group of men. How didn't I notice them approach me? I stared at them longer and was able to credit their stealth to them being vamps.

They smelled horrible as they all seemed to be either holding a drink or smoking a cigarette. "Why don't you come with us, pretty lady," the ringleader said.

"No, thank you," I replied nicely as I looked at them. A gasp sounded as the group and a shorter and more stout man pushed through the group.

"You're the Queen," he said as he pointed at me. He turned back to the group of goons and grinned towards them. "The cash prize for info on her is fifty thousand."

They all looked at me with hungry eyes and I rolled my eyes in annoyance. What did they expect to truly do with me?

The ringleader gave me a crooked smile and I furrowed my brows. "I'm giving you all a chance to live if you leave now," I spoke up.

They all laughed and I sighed. By now, I was used to being undermined and every single time I had proven those who doubted me wrong. I refused to let this be the first time I failed.

"Grab her," he commanded. The four men with him came toward me quickly and I stepped onto the bike. Sorry, Rocky. I hopped onto one of the men and wrapped my legs around his head as I shot another one in the head.

The man I was on top of struggled to get me off of him and I snapped his neck and fell with him to the floor. The other two men took the chance to lunge at me while I was on the floor and one grabbed my leg.

My strength wasn't something he could overpower and I easily kicked him in the face and he stumbled backward. The other man backed up from me when he saw what I did and the man I kicked held his nose as it bled.

I stood up quickly and held my fists up. "Well, come on then," I said as I gestured for them to hit me.

The men looked at their leader and he glared at me but made no move to touch me. He balled up his fists but a smile returned to his face. "It's alright y'all, they said information, not her. We'll just tell them their precious Queen is in Juva."

They turned to walk away and I was left with a decision. Either I could let them go and risk Syn and I getting caught, or I could kill them. The second option seemed better so I cocked the gun and aimed for one of the men on the left of the leader.

I shot him and he fell to the floor and I immediately shot the other one. The leader turned around and looked at me in fear as he held his hands up. "I'm sorry, this was all a big misunderstanding. I-"

I pulled the trigger before he could answer and he fell to the floor with a loud thump. I pulled the hearts out of each of their bodies to make sure they wouldn't wake up and I wiped my hands on one of their shirts.

I walked back to the motorcycle and sighed as I counted down the last few seconds of Syn's departure.

5...4...3...2...1

Syn walked out of the store right on time and I grinned in his direction. He balanced the mysterious items in his arms and slowed his steps as he looked at the bodies on the floor.

He raised a brow as he looked up at me and I shrugged. "Self-defense."

"I love the fuck out of you," he said as he stepped over the bodies and came to me. I held back the smile forcing its way onto my face and rolled my eyes.

As he got closer, I looked at the items in his hands and I raised my brow. "Why did you get shovels?"

"You'll see."

Syn

My nerves became insane as I neared the cemetery and I hoped that Queen wouldn't be too upset. I rode the motorcycle around the long winding road leading into the cemetery and I felt Queen's arms tense around me. Shit.

I parked the bike on the dirt road and looked out into the grassy field. "What are we doing here?" Queen whispered.

"Don't be mad," I said slowly.

"Syn..." she said in a warning voice.

"I think Xavia is alive," I shot out.

From behind me, I felt Queen remove her arms from me and get off the bike. I heard her boots walk against the road away from me, before aiming back a few seconds later. "I had to walk away and then come back. Because you didn't say what I think you just said," she said with a smile and glistening eyes.

"I think she's alive," I repeated. "Or a ghost or spirit but I think she's back."

She tapped her finger against her lips as she looked around sadly. "Why?"

"I saw her," I said.

"Where?"

"At a bar," I admitted as I got off the bike.

"A bar? She was a child Syn, she-"

"I saw the adult version of her," I retorted.

"At a fucking bar?" She asked.

"Yes."

"When?"

"A couple of nights ago," I said as I grabbed the shovels. I didn't know where Xavia was buried and it would take me hours to find it without Queen's help.

Her eyes moved to the shovels and she shook her head as she walked in front of me. "What are you doing with those?"

"I need to see if she's in there, Princess."

"Syn, you want to fucking dig up our daughter?!" She yelled.

I looked around the empty cemetery and then back down at her seriously. "You need to calm down."

"Don't tell me to calm down!" She yelled in a whispered voice as she pushed me against my chest. "You brought me all the way over here to desecrate my daughter's grave?!"

"OUR daughter," I corrected.

"You didn't even fucking remember her until like two days ago, you dick head!" She argued.

"So that doesn't make her my daughter?" I asked in a hushed voice.

"It does but-..." she ran her hands through her hair and tears fell down her cheeks. "Syn, to you she's been gone like three days, for me, it's been three freaking years. I hardly remember what she looks like anymore and the only thing keeping me sane is the thought that she's resting in peace.

"I know," I whispered as I wrapped my hand around the back of her neck. I laid my forehead on top of hers and I closed my eyes as I listened to her small cries.

"Then please don't do this," she begged.

"We have to."

"Syn-"

"Queen," I said. "We are her parents. Our job is to protect her. If there's even a one percent chance she's alive, then we need to go for it."

She sniffled and remained quiet as I kissed the top of her head. "Do you trust me?" I asked.

She nodded.

"Have I ever done anything to hurt you or her?"

She shook her head no.

"So don't think I'm going to start now, okay?"

She took a deep breath and looked at me weakly. "Okay."

"Take me to her."

Queen crossed her arms and distanced herself from me as she walked onto the grass. I followed behind her with the shovels and we passed a dozen until we finally stopped at one. I looked at the headstone to see me and my daughter's names and I nodded.

I looked back to Queen who was still holding back tears in her hands and I held up a shovel. "I'm going to need your help, Princess."

"Syn, if she's in here..."

"I know," I said softly. Queen would leave me if I dragged her all the way here, traumatized her, and Xavia's body was in here all along. For the sake of our relationship and my sanity, I hoped she wasn't in here.

Queen took the shovel from my hand and wiped her tears. We dug together in silence for what felt like an eternity. I occasionally looked at Queen to check on her but she looked miserable to be doing this. I hated having me make her, but we had no choice.

My shovel hit something hard and Queen and I locked eyes. I looked down at the large spot we dug up and saw the wooden coffin. I hopped into the hole and put my legs on either side of the casket and opened it.

I looked at the inside of the casket and took a deep breath as I closed my eyes. How was I going to tell this to Queen? I slowly crawled out of the hole and looked at my tear-stained girl and smiled at her. She waited for my answer and I cleared my throat and gave it to her.

"It's empty."
