Queen
"Why would I be going to jail?" He asked.
I don't know whether it was because of our situation right now, or the comfort he brought me, but I didn't feel the need to hide anything from him anymore. He assured me that he could protect himself and I trusted that. Besides, I'd try to hang on with Dimitri, but I'm not sure I'd survive.
The elevator began moving up and my eyes widened and I looked to Syn. "He said he'd be back, we need to leave," I said in a frightened voice.
Syn shook his head and held me against him. "Let him come, I'll kill him. You don't need to be scared of him."
"I'm not scared of him," I said as I looked at the increasing numbers above the elevator door. Dimitri got off earlier on the ninth floor and we were on the fourth now.
"Then what are you scared of?" He asked.
Floor 5.
Floor 6.
"I'm scared that you'll be caught in a bloody elevator, with a bloody and bruised Queen in your arms," I said. He looked at me and around the elevator and my head began to throb.
Floor 8.
Floor 9.
"Nothing will happen to me," he urged insistently.
I shook my head and before the elevator could open, I got up with a wince and pressed on the emergency stop button. I held onto the rail weakly and took deep breaths to ease the pain.
"Queen why-"
His phone began ringing and he ignored it as he faced me. "Pick it up," I said.
He sighed and pulled out his phone and put it on speaker. "What is it, Cleo?"
"I know you know the truth about Queen," she said quickly.
Syn pinched the bridge of his nose and I furrowed my brows. I wasn't aware that anyone knew at all. That was the entire point of keeping this all a secret.
"How?" Syn asked.
"Caspian told me," she said in an urgent voice.
"Why?"
"Because the police are surrounding the building. Dimitri told the news and reporters in here that Queen was missing," she said quickly.
"Are you fucking serious?" I groaned as I rolled my eyes. I knew he loved the media but I didn't know he'd go as far as to have the police involved. Especially considering what type of person he was.
"So what?" Syn asked. "She's not missing."
"They think she is," Cleo said. "But that's not all, a few witnesses along with Dimitri say that you've been harassing her all night and you were with last."
"That's not true at all," He said in annoyance. "I didn't talk to Queen at all tonight."
"That's still not all..." Cleo said.
"What?!"
"Caspian was listening in on a conversation between the officers here and they saw some footage on the elevator cameras," she said.
I felt a small flicker of hope at her words. If they have footage of what happened in here that would mean that they saw what Dimitri did. That would clear Syn from whatever manhunt Dimitri has the police on.
"What was on the footage?" I asked.
"Well there were a lot of missing parts but they saw Syn in an elevator with you passed out and bleeding on the floor," she whispered. "Everyone down here thinks you're dead or hurt except us."
"So this isn't a search for Queen is it?" Syn asked with a scoff.
"No, it's a kill on site for you," she said.
"They can't exactly kill me," he muttered.
"Syn, they think you killed the Queen of Hell. They don't care about how powerful you are, they'll figure something out."
"I can just go out there and show them I'm alive," I said.
"How do you explain the bloody clothes and bruises, Queen?" Syn asked me. I didn't have an answer for him and he ran a hand through his hair.
"I can figure something out," I said to comfort him. "Just leave and I can go clear everything up."
"I'm not leaving you here with him," Syn said in a low voice. "Come with me."
"You want me to go on the run with you?" I asked.
"It would only be until I can release the information I have on Dimitri and somehow get back the elevator footage," he said.
A loud bang from the other side of the door interrupted us and I jumped. "Police! Open up, we have the building surrounded!"
Syn ignored the yelling and took my hands into his. "I'll take care of you. Just come with me."
"Syn, they'll think you kidnapped me."
"I don't care," he answered. "Just leave with me."
The doors were banged again and I jumped when they managed to crack it open. Through the tiny crack, I saw Dimitri's face and my heart stopped as I moved out of view from the door. I pulled Syn into my arms off to the side so they wouldn't see us and he chanted a spell.
"Fac nos evanescet," he whispered.
I looked up at him in confusion and he held a finger over his lips to silence me as he gently held me against the wall. "What?" I whispered.
"I want to hear what they say," Syn whispered.
The doors finally opened with one loud bang and I opened my mouth to scream before Syn put his hand over it. Four policemen along with Dimitri rushed into the elevator and my eyes widened as they looked around.
They looked in our direction in the corner but their eyes passed over us as if we weren't there. How did he learn to do this? My eyes moved back up to his and I found him looking down on mine. What a strange ass moment for butterflies to float around in my stomach.
"He took her," Dimitri cried as he fell to the floor. "He hurt her and took her." He sobbed as my blood on the floor stained his pants and I rolled my eyes.
"Mr. Russo, we'll find your wife," The police officer said as she helped him up. "We've been trying to get Mr. SinClaire for years now, once we catch him, he won't get to see the light of day for hundreds of years."
"Your wife will be found," a man insisted.
Dimitri rubbed his eyes and nodded. "How will he be held in jail? He'll just escape."
"We have someone to help us with that, for now, let's get you out of here and call forensics up here." They left the elevator and Dimitri was the last in it. He looked at the blood-splattered walls and I watched as a wicked smile appeared on his lips.
As he left he adjusted his clean and crisp suit jacket and I eyed him carefully. He was a lot...bloodier the last time I saw him. When did he change? How did he change so quickly? He couldn't have gone home and come back that fast.
But then that brings up one of two options; he either planned this or someone brought him clothes. Both of those were incredibly worrisome.
He left the elevator and I let out a breath of relief. "We should go," I said.
"You're coming with me?"
"Of course."
Author's Note
The way I would've run to the elevator to be a distraction 😭
So it looks like Dimitri is trying to pin this on Syn...But damn, Can we talk about those acting skills? Fuxking disgusting 🙄.
Also, it seems as though Syn and Queen will be going on the run together. Do y'all think Queen made the right choice?
Lmk your thoughts✨
