Syn

We all surrounded my mother in the bed as she slept. Lucifer carried her here in a bloodied dress and told us what happened...about what she tried to do. I sighed as I looked at the bandages on her wrists and took her hand into mine.

I looked at my father who still had her other hand in his as he closed his eyes. He didn't tell me how he managed to bring her back, but it couldn't be good.

Queen and Xavier sat on chairs in the room and we all waited for her to wake up. Lucifer told me that she spoke momentarily before passing out and hadn't woken up since.

Lucifer glanced at his watch and sighed. "I should go check on James."

"No, stay," Xavier offered as he stood up. "I'll go with Cleo and Caspian and we'll watch him. Stay here and take care of her."

I shot him an appreciative nod and turned back to Queen. Caspian told me about what happened between her and my mother and I was surprised she was sitting here. I wouldn't blame her if she wanted to leave, but she didn't. She's been by my side ever since my mother was brought in.

Queen laid a hand on my forearm and gently laid her head onto my arm. I didn't know why it felt so good to have her so close, but I relaxed at her touch. I looked down at her and her eyes were on my mother. I didn't remember their relationship, but a part of me hoped it was good.

A gasp from the bed made me turn back to my mother and I gave her a small smile. "Hey."

"Syn..." she said weakly through teary eyes as her hand reached out to me. I took her hand and held it against my cheek and she sobbed. "Am I dead?"

"No," my father spoke up. My mother turned to him and I heard her breath hitch.

"I'm confused," she said in a dazed voice as she looked between all of us.

"I'm back," I spoke up.

"Since when?" She asked.

"Almost two weeks," I admitted.

Her lips quivered and she turned to Lucifer. He looked down and shook his head and he removed his hand from hers. "I should've told you sooner."

"No, I understand," she said quietly as tears fell down her cheeks. She turned back to me and gave me a sad smile. "I'm so sorry, I should've-"

"Don't," I said seriously. "It's in the past."

I didn't think I wanted to forgive her when I first found out, but seeing her like this...she already suffered enough. Her eyes moved to my side and she took a deep breath. "Queen-"

"We'll talk when you're feeling better," she said. The tension between the two of them was still obviously there but I hoped it would go away soon.

"What happened?" I asked. "Why would you do this?"

"About a year after your death, I found a journal belonging to Felix that had detailed entries about their plans to kill you," she said in a low and strained voice. "I realized that he and Xyla were guilty and tried to go to the police but Felix stopped me and locked me in the palace attic. I was alone in there for years and I couldn't take it anymore."

Anger flowed through my body as I heard what Felix and Xyla did to my mother. I knew he was fucked up but I never thought he would try to hurt the woman that raised him. My mother always treated him well, sometimes even better than me.

Queen's phone dinging made us all turn to her. She gave an apologetic smile as she let go of me and pulled it out. I watched as her face fell at the message and she stood up. "I need to go."

She rushed to the door and I quickly followed behind her. "Where are you going?" I asked.

She stopped walking and turned on her heel to face me. "I have business to attend to, with my fiancรฉ."

"Then why do you look so scared?" I asked.

She plastered a smile on her face and laughed softly. "I'm not scared."

Lie #1.

"You want to go with him?" I questioned.

"Yes," she said as she looked away from me.

Lie #2.

I sighed and nodded my head. "Well, then I guess I can't stop you."

That was the first lie from me.

She nodded and turned around to keep walking and I watched her until she rounded the corner. When she was gone, I walked back to where my mother was but stopped when I looked in the crack of the door.

My mother and father were having a moment and I smiled sadly as he pulled her against his chest. "I love you, but I'm not sure what's going to happen with us. We have a lot to talk about," I heard him say.

"I know," she whispered in response.

I stepped away from the door and walked down the hall. I wouldn't intrude upon such an intimate moment. Besides, I would have plenty of time to speak with my mother.

I walked into my bedroom and stopped in my tracks when I saw a large Manila envelope laying on my bed. I looked around the empty room for any sign of someone being in here, but when I saw none, I walked towards the letter.

I lifted it and sat at the edge of my bed as I looked at it. The front of the letter had my full name in big letters, but there was no sender or return address. I opened the letter and emptied the contents on the bed next to me.

Pictures of Queen and I fell out along with multiple papers. I sat back on my bed as I looked at the multiple pictures. There were two pictures of me smiling and covering my face and I picked them up. My head throbbed as I looked at them longer and when I closed my eyes, images flashed in my mind.

"Are you crying?" I asked as I lifted my head to look down at her.

"That's so sad. You were a kid." She said.

"I'm fine, Princess. I promise."

She sighed and kissed my chest. We remained quiet for a while after as I remained stuck in my head. Today with Lilith was going to be an insanely long day.

"Syn."

"Yeah?"

She propped herself up onto her arms and looked me straight into my eyes.

"I more than love you too."

My eyebrows raised and I bit my lip as my cheeks pained to the point where I gave up trying to control them.

Queen's mouth dropped and she stared at my lips.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked.

She quickly moved to her phone and held it up to my face. A moment later she turned it to face me. "Tell me I'm not seeing things."

I looked at the picture and saw myself smiling and I cringed. "Ew, delete that."

Queen scoffed as she sat up and stared at the phone. "Hell no, you have a sexy smile." She said, she tapped on her phone a few times and gasped. "You have dimples!"

She dropped her phone and laid her hands on either side of my head as she looked down at me. "Do it again." She commanded. "Please."

"It wasn't on purpose," I muttered.

She smiled down at me as she gave me a quick kiss on the lips. "I more than love you so so so so much."

"Ew," I said but I involuntarily let a smile appear on my lips again at her words.

Queen screamed and reached for her phone again but before she could reach for it I grabbed her arm and pulled her down to me.

I captured her lips into mine and made her forget her attempts at snapping photos of me.

I gasped and opened my eyes as I looked back down at the picture. I don't know where the memory came from, or how I got it, but my heart ached. It was as if my soul knew her and missed her, but my mind wouldn't let me.

I looked through the rest of the pictures but none of them provoked the same reaction. I spent the next thirty minutes trying to feel something, anything, but it was useless. I leaned against my headboard and looked down at the mess I made.

There was nothing else in the pile in front of me that told me something. I sighed as I cracked my knuckles and adjusted my position on the bed. In my attempt to move, something fell to the floor.

I picked up a black and white sonogram, and at the bottom, in black marker, it read, 'Xavia SinClaire'.

I held Queen's hand as the doctor checked her stomach again. My favorite part of coming to these things was hearing Xavia's heartbeat. I saw her almost every night when Iย  went to bed, but there was something different about this.

"She's doing amazing," Adrian said.

"Can I have a sonogram thing?" I asked. Queen groaned and I turned to her. "What?"

"You just got one a couple of days ago, Syn," she pouted. "You almost have a shoebox full of them at home, how many more do you need?"

"As much as I can get," I replied. "I don't think it's a sin to want to see my baby, is it?"

Her annoyed expression turned into a grin and she shook her head. "No, it's not at all."

Caspian spoke to me about losing a daughter but since I didn't remember her either, it didn't hurt. That memory was the first one to break me as I thought about it again. My brain pondered the existence of a mini-me so much so that I was hit like a truck with them.

"Can I speak now?" I asked.

"Yes of course," she said quickly as she faced me.

"Who the fuck are you and why are you here?" I said dryly.

She frowned. "Why are you cussing?"

"Answer my question."

"Answer mine," she argued.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes and she immediately did the same to mock me. Her deflection began to irritate me but she was the only person here.

"I don't know you and I can already tell you're fucking annoying," I said rudely as I glanced at the cigarette in my hand that still hadn't gone out.

She crossed her arms and tapped her fingers rhythmically against her forearm. As I watched the movements I recognized the same beat I did and it caused me to be further confused.

"I didn't know you were this mean," she said in a tone full of amusement.

"You don't know me at all," I said.

"Hmm, funny you should say that."

"How so?" I asked.

She shrugged. "No reason."

"Well if you're not going to be of any use to me, please just leave."

Her strong and defiant composure fell slightly at my words and she looked at me sadly. "You want me to leave?"

"I would love that," I replied.

"How are you going to ask to meet me but be an ass?" She asked as she threw her hands up.

"I never asked to meet you, you're insane."

"You did. You said 'Goodnight baby girl. I can't wait to meet you'. You couldn't wait so I decided to be nice and come to you instead and you're going to be rude to me? I love you dad but I didn't think that I'd be one of the people who deserved that," she ranted and my mouth dropped. "We talk every day, and I could've sworn you cared about me but maybe I was wrong? Ugh."

She finally looked up at me and gave me a 'what' look as she noticed my shocked features.

"Y-..you..." I stuttered. I was even surprised by my tone, it was so unlike me.

She yelped and covered her mouth as her eyes widened. "Oh no! You didn't know, did you?"

I shook my head slowly as my mouth remained open. She rubbed her temples and closed her eyes. "This...is so humiliating!"

"I-it's okay," I said quickly as I got up from my seat.

She looked at me in embarrassment and cringed. "Are you sure?"

I nodded and she dropped her hands completely. "Umm," I began but she leaped towards me and wrapped her arms around me. She jumped up and down as she squealed and I remained completely frozen.

"Dad, hug me back," she whined.

I slowly wrapped my arms around her and she sighed in satisfaction. "I'm glad you're here."

She pulled away from our embrace and took a step back to grin up at me. "Hi," she waved.

"Hi," I whispered.

My chest aches as loss and grief shaped their way into me. I could recall every moment, every word, every laugh that had come with Xavia and me. Not knowing what happened to her was sending splinters to my brain and tears fell down my face.

I held my hand over my chest to stop the pain and I laid down on the bed and sobs overtook my body. I remembered the nursery my mother had created for her, the bedtime stories she begged me to read her...everything.

The door burst open and Queen hurried to my side. "What's going on?" She asked as she looked down at me. I looked at her and shook my head, unable to say the right words to her. She crawled onto the bed and wrapped her arms around me. "What happened?"

I felt her tense as she pulled away and looked down at the items on the bed. She picked them up one by one and looked at me with worried eyes. "Where did you get these?!"

I no longer cared about secrecy anymore. Caspian advised me not to let anyone know that I knew, but I couldn't care anymore. All that was on my mind was Xavia.

"What happened to our daughter?"

I-...well it looks like the cat is out of the bag. Syn is getting some memories, but it seems to be mainly memories of Xavia. I wonder why๐Ÿ‘€.
Since that happened, it prompted him to ask Queen about her, now that Queen knows that Syn knows, how will that change things?๐Ÿ˜–

Who do y'all think left those pictures? It wasn't Queen since she seemed shocked herself...

Anyways, at least Gen is okay. Let's see what happens with that.
