Syn
"Yes, just take those boxes to my room," I instructed the servants in the palace. When I came I expected some resistance...some sort of fight from the people in the palace to have me stay here. But I arrived and I seemed to be missed even though I barely spoke to the people here.
A group of servants carried my things in and I walked into the palace behind them. I looked around and nodded at the newly decorated place. When I was growing up my father didn't like it much so we barely stayed here, it was more so abandoned than anything.
I never thought I'd have to move into here until I was king, but it looked like it needed to be earlier. What's that thing about keeping your enemies closer? That's what I needed to do.
Especially when one of my enemies is a woman that I can't seem to stay away from.
I shook my head and took a breath as I walked deeper into the palace. I had one goal in mind and that was all, find out what Dimitri has over Queen, kill him, and then become king. Whether or not she chose to rule by my side would entirely be her decision.
Mia was the first one to walk down the stairs and she crossed her arms and smiled when she saw me. "I'm glad you're here. She needs you."
"No, she doesn't. She loves Dimitri," I lied. I knew for a fact that Queen didn't. I just needed to see Mia's reaction since they seemed to be close. I watched Mia as she looked away nervously and her eyes brimmed with tears. That was all the answer I needed to know that Queen wasn't staying with him because she wanted to.
I didn't truly want to admit it, but a part of me wanted to be here to protect her. After what I found out about Dimitri, and not being able to help her the first time, it wouldn't happen again.
"You're moving in?!" Xavier said excitedly as he rushed down the stairs. I didn't know how to feel about Xavier right now considering he agreed on lying to me about my past. I understood his reason but he was supposed to be the one who fought for something like this, not Caspian.
"Yup," I said dryly.
"Why?" He asked when he got closer. That's when I noticed that what I heard wasn't excitement at all. It was nervousness. I guess Caspian didn't tell him that I knew.
"I do own the palace, Xavier," I said. "I like the view here..." my voice trailed off as my eyes fell on Queen. She looked like nothing had happened to her all those days ago and had a smile on her face.
I felt like a horny teenager when my eyes trailed down her curvy body. I don't know why I was having this reaction, I'd seen her plenty of timeโ even naked, but I still stared at her like we just met. Besides she wasn't wearing anything that provoked such a reaction.
She was wearing sneakers and an oversized shirt as she happily walked down the stairs. With every step she took closer to me, the more I observed her. Are you truly happy, Queen?
She came in front of me and looked up at me with a forced smile. "Why are you here?"
I smiled down at her. "Because this place is mine."
"Lucifer is coming," she said as she crossed her arms. "He'll be deciding."
"Sounds good," I said as I took out a cigarette and lighter. When I began to light it, Queen held her hand out.
"There's no smoking in here," she said.
I ignored her and took a long drag off the cigarette as I walked past her and looked around. When I turned back to her, I nodded my head. "You did well with the decor."
"Thanks," she muttered.
"Are you guys doing the dinner tradition thing?" Mia asked.
"Umm-...no we don't have to," Xavier laughed.
"What's that?" I asked.
"Whenever someone moves in, we have a dinner to welcome them," she said.
"We don't have to do that," Queen said in annoyance.
"Why break the tradition with me? I'd love a dinner," I replied.
"Well, Xavier, Cleo, and I can't make it tonight," Caspian said as he walked into the room. "We have an event tonight."
"We can just not go. I think Queen and Syn would want us here..." Xavier said.
"Nope, we have to go." Caspian walked to Xavier and pulled him by his hand to walk away. Before completely leaving the room Caspian shot me a wink and I laughed inwardly. It didn't take me long to figure out what he was doing.
"So just Cain, you and Dimitri?" I asked Mia.
"Umm..." Mia twirled her hair as she looked between the two of us. "Actually Cain and I will be busy at that time..."
"I didn't even say a time," Queen muttered.
"What time?" She asked.
"Seven," Queen said.
"Yeah...We're busy at that time," she reiterated.
Queen scoffed and I turned to her. "So just you and Dimitri?"
"Dimitri is leaving for a district meeting, he'll be coming back in a couple of days," she said.
I nodded slowly and tried not to smile at the thought of that. Queen probably wouldn't admit it, but she and I would definitely get into some trouble if we were alone.
"We might as well reschedule if no one can make it," Queen added.
"You'll be there."
We locked eyes and I heard her heartbeat quicken. Whatever there was between us wasn't something she could bury with lies and confessions of love for another man.
Footsteps from behind us made me turn around and I saw my father walk in. I couldn't imagine what he thought when I didn't come home.
"Syn," he said as he walked in. "What's going on?"
"Nothing much," I said with a shrug.
"Queen," he said. "Let's speak, please?"
She nodded and they walked to a room nearby and closed the door behind them.
Queen
Lucifer pulled me by my arm past the dining room and into the kitchen where a lot of commotion was going on. "Why does he suddenly want to move in?"
I looked down in shame and sighed. I had an idea or two why he was here and even though he wouldn't say, I knew it was mostly because of me. "He wants the throne," I said. "And he wants me, I think."
"What do you mean he wants you?"
"I was at the diner the other day and he approached me. I- I hadn't seen my husband in years Lucifer, I couldn't not speak to him."
Lucifer nodded and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I understand that it's just speak-"
"I didn't say it was just speaking," I whispered.
"Lucifer have mercy," he said in a whispered tone. "I thought there was no bond."
"We still have the one from our wedding," I said.
He looked confused for a moment before closing his eyes and sitting on the counter. He buried his head into his hands and sighed. "I can't ask the two of you to stay away from one another."
"Why is that?"
"Genesis and I are bonded, as you know," he said. "And I hate her for what she did, but-"
"But what?"
"But I miss her every day," he said. "And I can feel how...how lonely she is. It hurts me that I can't be with her."
I sat down next to him and pat his arm in comfort. I didn't like what Genesis did and I hated her for some time, but I missed her too. "Does she know Syn is alive?"
"No," he said softly. "I don't know if I have the strength to see her, to be completely honest."
"She deserves to know, Lucifer. Syn is her son, too."
"And she would care about that now?" he asked in disdain with a scoff. "We begged her Queen, for anything and she didn't do anything."
"You still love her, though."
"Well, love isn't enough. She betrayed me," he said. "She used to tell me that, it was us against the universe," he said with a small laugh. "So much for that, right?"
The hurt behind his voice made my heartbreak for him and Gen and I sighed. "I know you're angry, I do and I am too. But Syn is back, and I'm sure he'd want to see her too. It's not fair to keep them apart because we're mad."
Lucifer laughed softly. "Syn wouldn't want to see her, he knows what she did."
"Oh shit," I whispered. "How did he react?"
"He was fucking pissed, as he should've been," he said.
"Damn."
"Tell you what?" Lucifer said with a devilish grin. "If Syn manages to forgive her, we will too." He held out his hand for me to shake and I scoffed.
"Syn is not really the forgiving type, is he?" I asked.
"Nope, not at all."
I shook my head in amusement and shook his hand. "Deal." He hopped off the counter and help me down and turned back to me.
"I won't ask you to stay away from him," Lucifer said. "But just don't tell him about your past yet, please. Cain is almost done with the weapons so I just need him to stay in the dark until then."
"I won't say anything," I said. "But Syn is trying to overthrow me." Lucifer laughed and I frowned at him.
"Come on, Queen. There's nothing wrong with a little friendly competition between couples."

*Me sneaking into Syn's suitcase so I can move in too*
๐
Lmfao well anyways, so Syn is officially moving in and it looks like Lucifer has no issue with it as long as Queen doesn't say anything๐.
This dinner between the two of them is gonna be pretty....lonely. Everyone left them basically. Coincidence or not? We'll see what happens๐.
Lmk your thoughtsโจ
