Queen
Last Night
For some odd reason, absolutely no one was answering my calls. I called everyone including Mia and Cain, but they all went to voicemail. I was getting nervous and seeing as though I had no other way to reach them, I did a location spell.
I hated having to intrude on someone's privacy that way, but I was worried.
It led me to some club and I expected my argument with the bouncer to be the worst part of tonight, but I didn't know how fucking wrong I was.
I stood still in confusion as the three of my best friends yelled at me for something I apparently did. They still hadn't told me exactly what, but tears were already streaming down my face.
"Don't fucking cry now," Xavier snapped. "You weren't crying when you were fucking cheating."
"Cheating?" I asked lowly. "What are you talking about?"
"We saw you, Queen," Caspian said, shame apparent in his voice.
"Saw me what?"
"Syn saw messages on your phone from some french dude telling you to meet him at a hotel," Cleo said. "We followed you and found out you not only lied to Syn, but you also went into a room with the guy."
My mind began to piece together all of the events of today and their voices drifted into the background. Syn probably saw the text from Theo...that would explain why he was asking so many questions.
He thinks I'm cheating.
If he had asked me, I would've told him everything. But how was I supposed to read his mind? I told him the truth and said I was going to a meeting, I didn't think me cheating was a thought of his.
I didn't know what hurt more...What he did in the shower or the fact that he assumed the worst about me before talking to me? I see how it looked like I was cheating, but we'd been through so much together I figured that he would at least ask.
He knew me better than that, they all did...or so I thought. The fact that all my friends followed me instead of just asking broke my heart too.
"I love you, Queen," Cleo said. "But you're so wrong. I don't think any of us feel good being friends with you right now." She stepped towards me to hug me but I immediately stepped away from her.
"Have any of you ever known me to be a liar?" I whispered.
"Not at all," Caspian said.
"That's why we're surprised," Cleo said. I didn't bother looking at Xavier for a response since he looked like he despised me right now.
"What about a cheater? I'm a cheater now?" I questioned.
"Yes, you are," Xavier said.
"Okay," I nodded. "I see how you all see me now and I can tell you that I never expected this from any of you either."
I walked right past them and wiped my tears as I walked down the block. I spent years with them and even if all signs pointed to any of them cheating on each other, I would've asked. I would've given them the benefit of the doubt until I had solid proof.
The fact that they did none of that for me was heartbreaking.
Syn's expression earlier crossed my mind and I cried harder. He believed I was cheating on him and he was hurt enough to hurt me. If he just assumed and did nothing else, I'd go back into the club and yell at him and take him home, but that wasn't all. His anger towards me let him hurt me and treat me like I was nothing to him and for that...I'd let us be strangers as well.
They could continue believing that I was a cheater and I would go on never speaking to them again. It would hurt, but I didn't want people who didn't have faith in me to be in my life.
Even when Syn left for the entire month, my mind was filled with doubts about infidelity. I didn't jump to conclusions and just leave him. I ASKED him, he told me didn't and we moved past it.
Maybe he lied...
How else would it have been so easy for him to leave me? I had no idea what was going through his mind, but it no longer mattered.
He already left me, so I needed to do the same.

I woke up with a huge headache from crying all night and the bright room didn't do anything to help me. I looked around at the unfamiliar room I was in and furrowed my brows in confusion until I remembered how I got here.
I crawled out of the bed and stretched before I rolled up the long sweats on my legs. I didn't feel like going back to the palace yet so I came to the only other place I could think of.
I was just surprised he let me stay with him.
I walked out of the room and down the stairs slowly. I heard soft singing and music playing from the kitchen and I smiled softly before heading down.
I sat down quietly on the stool and rested my chin on my palms as I watched Abel bob his head to the music and sing. He continued singing and when he turned around, his eyes widened and he jumped.
"You scared the shit out of me," he said as he held a hand over his chest.
"I'm sorry," I laughed softly.
"How are you feeling this morning?" He asked as he took two plates out of the cabinet.
"I'm horrible," I admitted. "How are you? I know last night was rough for you."
"I'm surviving," he sighed.
"Thanks for picking me up last night," I said. "You didn't have to."
"You're my little sister," he muttered. "Of course I had to."
He set a plate full of food down in front of me and I smiled at him before picking up my fork and taking a bite. "This is amazing, Abel. You're such a good cook."
"It's just eggs, Queen," he laughed as he sat beside me.
"Amazing eggs," I mumbled with a full mouth. He smiled at me as he began eating but I chewed slowly and squinted my eyes as I noticed something else in his expression. I couldn't tell if it was sadness or anger, but he hid it well.
"Has anyone ever told you that you're a good liar?" I asked. He coughed and laughed before turning back to me and I shrugged. "You're good at making people believe you feel one way when in actuality you feel the opposite."
"I mean, I am a lawyer, Queen," he said. "I need to be a good liar."
"But it's beyond that." I frowned. "Like right now."
"What am I doing right now?"
"You're smiling and acting like you're okay so we can focus on me," I started. "But it's obvious something happened to you last night as well."
"Is it?"
"Yes," I said. "So tell me what happened."
"You tell me what happened with you first," he countered.
"Well." I sighed. "My friends and my boyfriend...well ex-boyfriend now, think I'm cheating."
"Why?"
"It's a long story, but I guess there were questionable things that led them to believe I did. So he broke up with me and they confronted me last night."
"And you didn't cheat?" He asked.
"Not at all," I said sadly.
"Why not just talk to him and get back together? It seems like a misunderstanding," he said with a shrug.
"No, they assumed the worst, firstly. And secondly, he hurt me before even being sure that I did anything."
"Hurt you?" He questioned worriedly. "Hurt you how?"
"I don't want to talk about it," I said softly. He looked at me for a long moment before nodding and I continued. "I just can't be with him after all of that."
"I heard you crying last night," he said.
"Sorry about that," I cringed. "I'm just...it still hurts."
"I understand," he said. "But I have something for you."
"What?"
He stuffed a piece of toast in his mouth before getting off his chair and rushing into the living room. He picked something up from the table and I raised my brow as he walked back to me. "Here," he said as he placed a journal next to me.
I picked it up and shuffle through the pages to see it empty and I looked back at him. "What is it for?"
"It's something I do that I think will help you," he said. "I have a new journal every month and I write down all of my negative feelings. It helps me not to spontaneously break down all over the place and I can control my emotions more."
"Why a new one every month?" I questioned.
"Because at the end of the month, you reread it and then burn it."
"Why?"
"It's different for everyone but for me, since I pour all my emotions into it...when I burn it it's as if I never felt them at all."
"That's deep," I said as I eyed the notebook.
"Yup," he said. "But it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot. It might work for you."
"Okay," I said with a smile. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," he said as he glanced at his watch. "I need to go to work. Will you be alright or do I need to take a day off?"
"I'll be okay," I said. "I need to pick up some clothes from the palace and find some place to stay. I'll be gone by the time you come back. I promise."
"Why?" He asked as he took his plate to the sink.
"I've bothered you enough," I laughed.
"You're not bothering me at all," he assured me. "I enjoy the company. Stay as long as you need or want."
"Are you sure? I don't want to in-"
"I'm sure." He opened a drawer nearby and pulled out a key and passed it to me. "There you go."
"Thank you," I said graciously as I picked up the key. He hurriedly but swiftly put on his suit jacket and carefully put his papers into his briefcase before picking it up and waving at me.
"Wait!" I called.
"Yes?" He asked as he turned back around.
"You still didn't tell me what happened to you last night," I said. "You said if I told you, you'd tell me."
"No I didn't," he said slyly as he shook his head.
"You did."
"No," he said slowly. "I told you to tell me what happened with you first. I never said I'd tell you what happened with me."
"You're mean," I pouted.
"I'll tell you what happened when I get home," he said. "IF you pay for pizza tonight."
"Deal."
He gave me one more smiled before rushing out of the house and I sighed as I looked around. I wasn't looking forward to seeing anyone at the palace, but I had no other choice.
I had to see it through and be done.
