  ~YURE~

"Alright. I'll talk to you later ❤️"

I typed the message in my phone as I walked down the slightly rowdy Ss3 hallway, early that Thursday morning, after the morning assembly that I barely stayed through. That little smile was on my face while at it - that very smile that always came on whenever I got a WhatsApp text from Prissy.

I hit the send icon, and smiled when I saw the blue check mark, meaning she'd already seen the text. So quick.

I smiled even more when I saw "typing" appear on the top left corner of the _

"BABY!!"

Jesus Christ!
My phone flew from my hand and my juggling skills surprised me as I desperately tried to catch it before it hit the ground, only to look infront of me afterward and see Krisdana, looking at me with a very puzzled expression on her pretty face.

"Y-you good?" She asked me, observing my nervous demeanor closely.

I sighed, a short sigh like someone who was about entering shock. Then, I put myself together and smiled at her, getting my phone down by my side to avoid her asking questions. I knew Prissy would have texted by now, but I'm eternally grateful my phone was on silent.

"I'm good." I told her. "You just.. you just startled me, that's all." I laughed nervously.

I wasn't sure if she was buying it, but she looked at me funny for a short while. She was holding onto the hands of the small white school bag, hung over her back, and she had actually paused, hips shooting out from her baggy, grey cargo sweatpants, and head, tilting to look at me with an expression that I couldn't make out. Suspicion?

However, she just... smiled?

She's smiling. ThankGod!

"You get startled so easily, Yure." she commented, laughed adorably.

"I was just heading to Class B for Commerce Class that's starting in five minutes, and I saw you all engrossed in that phone of yours." she said.

Oh God! Shes unto me.

"Anyway, Guess I'll see you after class, right?" She said, her pink lips curving into a very attractive smirk.

Okay, so she's not onto me.

I breathed. "Sure thing, babe."

She held onto my Ash-coloured jersey and stood on her tiptoes to plant a soft quick kiss on my lips before leaving. I made a silent sight of relief within me. That was so close.

I walked onn, pulling my phone out to see what Prissy had texted back at the same time. Swiping my phone open and unlocking it with my thumb print, and then_

"Yure!!"

I jumped again in shock, this time, not only startled, but also annoyed.

"What the hell, dude!" I snapped, as I turned to who I supposed and knew was Nova. Apparently, Ivandor was just by his side. Both of them looked at me, with a form of humor on their faces as if to say "what is doing this one?"

"What's going on with you, bro?" Nova said, the tone of his voice matching the look on his face.

I sighed, trying to die down the anger that was truly just me feeling guilty and scared about what I was doing.

"You look like someone who just got caught robbing a bank." Ivandor said, his face in a deadpan.

As much as I could, I tried to die down any form of suspicion in my attitude from them. Ivandor, for one, had a way of picking all these little things out.

"I dey, I'm good." I told them. "Nothing is wrong with me."

"Yeah, sure. You're definitely not up to anything sneaky, that's why you left the hall early after the assembly." Nova said. His face still had on that hint of humor, and a smile plastered on it. I hated it when he got sarcastic like this. It was so uncomfortable. It's even worse now I know I've got something up my sleeve. My honest prayer - I hope he doesn't know anything.

"What's going on?" Ivandor came in.
The way he leaned by the wall with folded arms and focused narrowed, penetrative eyes at me as he said it, I feared he was already putting two and two together and figuring things out.

"Nothing. I'm just stressed." I said. While Nova's face contorted into naive understanding, Ivandor, however, didn't look too pleased with my 'cover up' response.

Indeed, the air was getting hotter. I had to look away from them to the ground, and my mind paced in seconds to come up with a distraction.

"Did any teacher ask of me?" I asked, still not looking at them, but obviously directing the question to Ivandor, as he would be the only one able to answer it since both of us were the Prefects, and Nova wasn't.

I got no answer.

"Did any_" I attempted asking again, before I turned back to them to notice Nova staring in utter confusion at Ivandor, who had his gaze affixed on something else. Something that wasn't me. Something behind me.

"Ivan.." I called, but he didn't budge. His eyes, still fixed on whatever it was he was looking at. My eyebrows furrowed in more confusion when I saw him smile a little.

"Dude!" Nova called, and he surprisingly snapped out of it and drifted his attention back to us, with a "what's going on?" look on his face.

"What are you_" I cut myself by turning the direction that got him staring.

Nothing.

Nothing was there.

No one else, asides a single individual, quite a distance away from us, walking towards a class.

It was easy to pick her out, even from behind. The slim tall figure. The confident walking step - Giwa Falade.

"Dude, you dey look Giwa?!" I asked immediately, my voice raised a little in shock. I had to be sure if it was really Giwa Falade that turned off my guy's sense of hearing like that.

He sort of smiled and with so much boldness, he said "I'll catch up with you guys in class. I want to talk to her."

And like that, he just left me and Nova standing in confusion and started walking very quickly to catch up with Giwa's pace.

~GIWA~

Assemblies on Thursdays were something else.

Well, Yure left quite early because of 'God knows what', I had to fill in and stand at the entrance to the Hall, all by myself.

Right after, the whole thing was over and every class had already left, I started to make my way back to my Ss3 Block.

Not much people were in the hallway by the time I got in, having so many of them were preparing for First Period that was just a few minutes from now. So, I made my way to my class, walking as casually as I could.

Just by the wall by my left, a few feet away from Class D, that was basically in the middle of the hallway, I noticed something.

I first saw Yure, who looked weirdly nervous, and then Nova infront of him, looking at him and smiling like someone who deadass wanted to make someone else uncomfortable. Looking in more, I noticed Ivandor was also there too, leaning by the wall and piercing his eyes into Yure like he was some sort of detective. All of their mouths moved, but I couldn't possibly make out what they were saying.

But what the hell was even going on with them this morning?

Ivandor's eyes lingered on Yure, who I could see by now, wasn't even looking at the boys any more, but his eyes were rather looking to the ground like someone who was searching his goddamn mind for answers. And like Ivandor could sense there was a spectator watching over them,  his eyes moved from Yure and slowly landed on..me?

Jesus. He caught me!

I actually froze for a second, wide eyed. Mentally cursed myself for watching them. Why was I even watching them for God's sake!?

I turned my face away immediately, and forced a form of confidence on myself as I walked onn. Standing tall, head high, nose in the air. Although, like I had eyes at the back of my head, I sensed he was still watching me as I moved.

Few seconds afterwards, I heard footsteps behind me loud and clear like someone was trying to catch up with my pace. I increased the speed I walked in as I already had a slight feeling of who it was. But, to no avail, I guess I wasn't fast enough, because in no time, I saw Ivandor pop up in front of me. I stopped on my tracks as I looked at him, standing there with a small smile forming at the corner of his lips.

This almost felt intentional. Like this guybwas deliberate doing what he was doing for a reason I didn't know.

"Hi." I heard myself say.

"You texted me back." was the first thing that came out of his mouth, as his smile came on full on his face.

"Yeah. I did." I simply responded.

He looked quite happy, like he had made some kind of big achievement. Again, what exactly was he up to?

I gently put my hands on his chest, and his eyes widened in shock for a moment, moved from my hand on his chest, to my face, probably wondering what the hell I was doing.

Sighing, rolling my eyes, I just gently pushed him back as he was obstructing my flow of breeze. Once I had taken him back, far away enough from me, I started to walk away.

As expected, he followed up again behind me, walking almost according to my pace.

This wasn't Ivandor Fejaun.

Ivandor Fejaun didn't follow girls around this way.

This guy was definately up to something. And for some reason, I felt mentally threatened about that fact.

"So that means you'll go out on that date with me?" I heard him say few paces behind me.

Why is he so intent on this date...?

"I didn't say that." I replied, a smile grazing the corner of my lips. I didn't understand why because I wasn't pleased with the idea. However, the fact that he genuinely wanted to go on a date with a girl like... Me? A girl like Giwa Falade? It hit different.

Ivandor stopped walking behind me, and for sone reason, I stopped, glanced back at him to see him just staring behind me, almost plainly. With a look that I couldn't make out. It resembled empathy... Pity..? It confused me. He confused me.

I left him standing there and made my way to class.

"Giwa!" I heard a familiar high pitched voice call as soon as I walked into the class, nearly shattering my brain cells.

I looked to my seat area where I saw Hassana, sitting in a circle pattern, with Shade and Prissy. All three girls, smiling at me and waiting for me to come in and join them. I could see they kept an empty seat for me.

I laughed to myself as I walked over to them. Although, I didn't fail to notice how scanty the class was.

"What's up with you guys?" I said as I got to them.

"We should be directing the question to you because you look happy as hell this morning." Hassana teased me first.

"Clown!" I laughed, as I took a seat with them, joining into their circle.

"Wahala for who man no dey chase oo," Hassana wriggled her eyebrows at me, and everyone else laughed.

Hassana went on, teasing and teasing, cracking us all up, and low-key making me feel akward too. She quickly launched into an active lecture session on 'how to get any man'.

"Hassana, I'll leave this class for you!" I warned the jumpy, extra girl.

"Perfect skin. Perfect make-up. The list goes on and on and -" Hassana wouldn't stop blabbing, even against my will.

"Hassana!"

"Oh, and nice boobs too! Guys love that!" Hassana hit the table, screaming in realisation, and Shade and Prissy were a laughing mess.

"Boys LOVE boobs!" Hassana didn't stop, she nudged me, winked, "ESPECIALLY Ivandor!"

How does she even know-

"Don't ask me how I know oo!" She quickly raised her hands in a geature of surrender, as though she heard she heard my question.

"Hassana, calm down, please," Shade pleaded in between laughter.

"C'mon, don't act like you don't know," She nudged Shade, "I can bet even Nova likes boobs too," she shrugged.

A startled Shade gasped, "Jesus, Hassana!"

Wait.. What? Shade and Nova? Since when exactly?

I was confused. Even Shade looked confused too. As if ... As if it were true and she didn't want anyone to know?

Infact, she even looked surprised that Hassana knew. Hassana herself, acted totally clueless, like she had no idea she spilled anything at all.

But seriously... Shade and Nova?

"Okay, you guys. Since, we're complete, let me tell you people now.." Prissy started, gathering all our attention immediately.

Here we go again.

"I heard Ella Sunday has been hooking up with our math teacher!" she spills.

All the girls chorus "ewwwwww" at the exact same time.

"That's so wrong!" Shade said. "Isn't that man like 70 or something?"

"Aunty wants money na," Prissy laughed. "I heard the man has plenty cash," she said, rubbing her fingers against each other to illustrate the "cash".

"Later, Ss3 set calls me the hoe!" Hassana remarked sarcastically.

"Hassana, c'mon," Prissy hit her playfully and she mock surrendered.

"I'm not offended oo. I'm not oo!" She kept telling us.

As if. I genuinely felt it was impossible to offend Hassana Alfa.

Impossible task.

When we were juniors, she never got angry when seniors were being bitches. Not even when our classmates made snide remarks behind her, and called her a hoe - in their words, "ashawo".

In junior school, a classmate made fun of her short uniforms and she bought the bitch food.

In Ss1, the head girl made Hassana chop off her braids because, in her terms, it was 'too fancy' for school.

Hassana chopped off her braids, lost half of her pretty natural hair along with it, in the process, yet met the senior later to give honest hair reccommendations. The next week, Senior Preye came to school with the same hair do she had punished Hassana for, and they became friends.

Last year at Casper's intra-school party, a random girl whose name I've forgotten, from a random school I can't remember, slapped Hassana across the face. Hassana did nothing about it, and I was the one who had to step in, treat the bitch's fuck up, and drag her out of the premises.

It amazed me how Hassana never frowned at ill treatment. Took rejection and humiliation with a genuinely unbothered smile. Never stopped being happy, no matter what.

She was always happy. Always vibrant. It waa almost unreal. All in all, something about her light pulled me. I admired how happy she was, all the time. How free she was. Some people just had it easy with life, don't they?

Prissy kept fuelling all the gist. Hassana laughed and added her irrelevant relevant points, and Shade was more observant, smile on her face, green eyes glinting as she listened to the girls, laughed in occasions.

Prissy started this unbelievable story.  According to her, she got the full details of the rumor that had been spreading around online concerning two classmates who apparently did some pretty steamy stuff in a locked room, in Yure's party. She told the story like she was in the room with them and I decided it was too ridiculous a story to be true.

This set and rumours.

The girls and I had a few laughs about Prissy's gossip, and then it instantly dawned on me..

Prissy was missing her class. She was in Class F, and I knew her teacher should have been in her there by now.

"Prissy, shouldn't you be in class?" I asked her. She shrugged so non-challantly and said, "That Biology woman always comes to the class ten minutes to the end of class."

I knew it was a clear exaggeration, but I couldn't help but notice Shade's wierd sharp glance at Prissy as she said it. I think Hassana noticed it too. It was obvious there was more to Prissy wanting to be late to class than the Biology teacher's own lateness.

"Is something wro_?" I barely asked.

"No." Prissy replied, even before I was don't asking the question. She said it so casually. So easily. So much composure, I had to give it to her.

"Hmph." I said. I turned to Shade Onam, who dead ass wasn't making eye contact with anyone at all. Her green eyes, widening, as she looked at everything, but us. She lacked composure, unlike Prissy.

"Tell me." I ordered the teen model.

Shade looked up at me, with a faked innocent look on her fake that annoyed me. "I don't understand."

"Yes you do." I nodded calmly.

She glanced at Prissy again, who I saw looked casual. I  could have sworn I saw it, that silent pleas in her eyes, faint, but still there... Begging Shade, screaming at her, "don't say anything to her!"

"Shade Onam. Speak!" I commanded. Bolder, now.

Shade looked at Prissy first, then sighed.

"Prissy. I'm sorry, but she has to know." she said, before turning back to me. Good.

I looked at her, waiting to hear what she had to say.

"Giwa.." Shade started, glancing at Prissy, who was by now looking at the desk  and not us.

"Prissy is being bullied." she said.

There was first a screeching sound in my head that made me wince.

My eyes narrowed in anger, and I was quiet for a while, as shock and rage rendered my body still.

I began to process it all.

Bullying..

Dayo..

Primary One..

My mouth finally opened again, to speak.

"By who?" I asked, my voice was already cold. Hard.

"Her classmates in Class F." Shade said. "They really don't like you, Giwa. And, they take everything out on Prissy because of it. That's why Prissy is scared of entering her class." she finished.

The anger came like an electric shock, seeping through my brain and my entire body. How dare those lowlifes' think they can make my friends uncomfortable?

With the rage in me, I stood up from the seat I was on and made my way out of the class. Only one things was on my mind --Finish Class F students. All of them.
