Hello, everyone, and welcome to the second Volume of The Victorian! Today we're going to talk about Paine's comment on Steve Smith, the New ODI captain for Sri Lanka. And Modi's choice of not attending the G7 meeting.

Today's the day of captaincy, Tim Paine was originally against the idea of Steve Smith becoming captain of the Australian Cricket Team. He complained about it and claimed that he was immature during 2014 and 2015. But now Tim Paine doesn't appear to mind having the leadership role possibly shifted to Steve Smith. Is this because of the Gabba fiasco? Who knows! Perhaps Steve Smith will be reinstated as captain of the Aussies.

Sri Lanka has announced a new ODI captain, Kusal Perera! Kusal has been appointed captain of a young Sri Lanka team. This hasn't been Sri Lanka's best season, they've slipped down to the 9th ranking. He says that Sri Lanka must play fearlessly. Kusal is one of those aggressive players, much like Ishan Kishan. He also says that players tend to overthink their shots and worry too much about that. This situation reminds me of a specific Test Series, the Border Gavaskar. Could we be seeing a come back from Sri Lanka? Let's wait and see.

COVID is still wreaking havoc on India, but things will change if keep a positive attitude. There are widespread rumors that India is under-counting the deaths. But I can tell you that COVID can be rid of. My grandfather was discharged from the hospital just yesterday, he told me that the virus almost disappeared from his system when they gave him tablets and medications. I even contacted a cousin of mine who is a doctor, she said that people aren't going into quarantine and freaking out too much if they test positive. People are wearing masks but under their noses. This is leading to a spike in cases.

Modi will not be attending the G7 in person, and Dr. Anthony Fauci has advised Modi to put the country on national lockdown. But Modi has refused so far, but I believe that Fauci has the right idea. Who is Fauci? He is the US president's chief medical advisor. He was also one of those people who had some common sense. Not only Fauci but a lot of others have tried convincing Modi to initiate a lockdown, but he has refused. Last year, Modi did amazingly at controlling the cases. What's wrong now?
