Chapter 2- Eye & The Tear Drop

The morning was bright. The energetic sun light rays were pouring through the curtains. Hoping this day will change her life Ari was looking at the road through the window. It was busy with running vehicles and people moving here and there. She was Waiting for Jisoo's arrival.  She promised to give her a ride.

Who should it be? A boy or a girl? She didn't mind any. All Ari needs was  sunshine and moonlight that light up her world. Debating from mind she kept tapping the table near by.

Ding Dong

That was her call. She wide opened the door revealing the female figure Infront of her. Wearing a dark blue dress and hair with a messy bun made Jisoo look lot younger. As always her face was bright and stunning. She pulled Ari to a hug. Breaking the hug she held from her shoulders.

"Look at you. You look like a walking skeleton" Jisoo's face was filled with worry and sadness. Ari slowly moved her friend's hand away from her shoulder.

"Let's go Jis, We are already late" She smiled at her and pushed her outside the house. After locking up the house they stepped near Jisoo's black shaded car.

"So what's on your mind? Girl or a boy Ari?" She glanced at her  putting the gear on, pulling the car to the main road.

"I still don't know. I guess I'll decide when we reach there" Ari locked her seatbelt and swilled her head towards the window. Jisoo let out a sigh before talking,

"Look,I'm helping you because I can't stand seeing you hurt like this. But are you really ready for this? Adopting a child is a whole different situation. You know that right?" She talked while driving. Her eyes were fixed on the road. Ari didn't utter a word. It was a silence between them.

"Ari-"

"I understand what you are saying Jisoo. I just want to try this and see where it goes. Everything of my life is ruined. I have no hope. Doing this won't hurt me right?" Ari looked straight Infront of her.

She was determined to face whatever problems might come. There's no way changing her mind now. Jisoo knew that. She was afraid that Ari might hurt herself again. That this will bring make her suffer even badly. On the other hand Ari knew Jisoo was caring for her. That's why she try to convince her. But  Ari was too stubborn. No it's not called stubborn, She was tired of all the things she been through. She needed a break from everything. The journey to the Orphanage was a silent ride. Only thing they could here is the News reporter from the radio station. None of them were actually listening to it. The reporters words just flowed in the air.

They stopped in the car park. Both of them got down. Ari stared at the big white building Infront of them. It was the nearest and biggest orphanage in the area. Jisoo stepped near her hanging the handbag on her shoulder. The air was warming up because of the early noon heat was getting into the ground. Ari tucked her turtle necked shirt little down to ease the heat. It's always like these days. It's so hot in the afternoon and it rains heavily in the evening.

"It's so hot here let's go inside"

Jisoo tugged the other one towards the entrance. Ari followed her friend inside the building. They heard children's voices. Laughter and giggles were filling the rooms. That voices suddenly brought a smile to Ari's gloomy face. Jisoo went to the front desk and talked to the fat lady who had a cheerful face. She was pleasant to see. It's lucky when she's the first thing you see when you enter. She grinned widely and welcomed with a warm smile.

"Welcome to Eden Orphanage. How can I help you Misses?"  She stood up from her seat. As she stand up the cup filled with Ice coffee spilled in the desk because of the collide between the lady and the table.

"Aish,My bad I'm bit clumsy" She laughed Awkwardly and pulled out a tissue paper to whipe the mess she created. Her hand accidentally hit the pen holder causing it to roll all the way down. Ari bent and picked it up for her. She stretched her arms to the clumsy lady.

"Thank you Miss. I'm  sorry for being  careless. So what can I do for you?"Her round face turned to both of them. Full cheek muscles of her face was stretched to a wide smile. Jisoo barely stopped herself from  squishing the lady's cheeks. Shrugging off her childish thoughts she talked to her. Jisoo's orbes studied the name of the gold colour badge on her collar.

"Yes,Umm..Bora right? My freind Ari here is willing to adopt a child. Will you help us with it?" Jisoo smiled cheekily tilting her head towards the other woman.

"Of course Young Miss. Chae-Won! Chae! God damn where is this girl?"

The lady named Bora called a named loudly. A girl about twenty years old, showed up from the corner. She rushed towards them in a hurry. She leaned her hand on the to catch her breath.

"Why are you running here and there like chipmunk?Take care of the front desk till I return. And no running,Got it? Stay here" She pulled the girl inside and stepped away to join the other two. The girl nodded while panting. Jisoo tried to hold her laughter but Ari's mind was somewhere else.

She was listening to the echoing sounds of the kids. In some place she can hear  morning lessons. From another place she hears the children playing. Bora took the lead and guided them from the front. They walked through the corridors. Jisoo and Bora was in a chat while Ari remained silence. Bora was such a talkative person. Jisoo couldn't ignore her friendly state. But she did keep eyeing at her friend who was looking at the wall paintings that were done by children in the orphanage. Her eyes caught the black colour design among the colourful drawing. It was an eye with a falling tear drop from it. That picture was in the down corner,in a place that didn't get much attention. For some reason she liked that odd painting. She couldn't stare at it that much because of Bora's interrupt,

"Miss Ari, Would you like to come inside?" She pulled opened the door and invited her. She nodded as a response and entered the hall. Jisoo followed right behind her.

The hall was filled with children. It was their recess time. The range of the ages of them were pretty Surprising. There were kids from only three years and the oldest ones seems not more than seventeen years old. They were minding their own work till they noticed the strangers. The elder one's stood up and bowed to them. If you look clearly you can see the hint of expectations in their innocent faces. Along with the nervousness and excitement they stood there like went back to their positions again.

Ari ran her fingers through her silky brown hair. They all look so energetic and adorable. She were lost in that beautiful world. Small ones didn't seems to bother about the new people who entered. They were too young to understand. Ari walked to them leaving other two women behind her. Jisoo swilled her head to scan the room. Her eye landed on each of them one by one. According to her, all  thirty of them looked ok. She watched the next step of Ari.

Ari smiled at the kids. She peeped her head to see what they were doing. The small ones were playing with toys under the caregivers authority. The older ones didn't need to be checked because they were already grown enough to understand things. They kept glancing at Ari with hope.  Ari's eyes landed on a figure near the corner.

It was a boy, About fourteen, fifteen years old. He was seated Infront of a wooden desk. Dark brown hair was cut like a mushroom. His Square face was tilted towards the paper he was holding. That child's face reminded her of her lost son. She stepped near him. The boy lifted his head as he felt someone's presence.

Ari smiled warmly at him. From inside she was bit nervous whether he will smile back or get creeped out. After examining Ari's face a rectangular boxy smile reflected from him. His long eyes twinkled brightly. When she looked at his eyes she noticed something weird on his eyes.

It was two colours.

Right eye was dark brown while other was a beautiful greyish blue colour. The flashed brightly at her. Her eye landed on the picture he  was drawing. Her eyes widened as she saw the painting.

It's the same wall painting she saw a while ago

She looked at the boy's face and again smiled at him.

"You did this?" She asked pointing the paper on his hand. He nodded as a response.

"It's beautiful. I like it. Do like to draw?" She kneeled down to his height and leaned her arms on his desk. He didn't talk but he nodded as a response for her question this time too. She smiled softly and placed her palm on his shoulder.

"What's your name sweetie?"  She asked. He stared at her for a while. Those weird orbs were googling her. He was quite for a while. Then he suddenly spoke.

"Kim Taehyung"
