Live and Let Die
"Brother!" Elijah's booming voice catches the dozen wolves loitering in the courtyard, all frowning towards the original who storms inside, "Niklaus!"
Hayley steps in between a group of wolves, storming straight towards Elijah as she glares up at him, "You do realise that literally everyone in here has supernatural hearing, right?" She rolls her eyes, looking away, "Something I wish Lola and your brother would realise."
Elijah narrows a bewildered stare towards the hybrid, not knowing what it is exactly Hayley meant by that last sentence, "Where is my brother?"
"I'll check his calendar..." Hayley's brows knit together, patting down her pockets before she shrugs wearing a mocking expression, "Wait, no. Not his wife, so..."
"Hayley, this city is under siege by an army of beasts following my deranged mother's every command." Elijah closes the gap between himself and Hayley, not bothering to hide the annoyed expression that darkens him, "Now, considering it was your people who just declared war on my kind, now's not the best time for your particular brand of sass."
"They're through there." Hayley gestures to the closed door behind Elijah, she scoffs shaking her head, "They've been in there most of the night. Anything you could imagine has probably happened in there...glasses being shattered, ear deafening arguments," Her lips twitch up in disgust, almost shuddering at the thought, "...and other things. It went oddly quiet about an hour ago so maybe they've killed each other. Who knows. Good luck dealing with that."
The original remains in his spot in the middle of the courtyard, watching as Hayley begins to walk away. There's honestly a part of him that dreads walking into the room where Klaus and Lola are, already knowing he can't bare whatever sight he may endure.
"Oh! One more thing, Elijahโ" Hayley's sharp tone brings Elijah out of his thoughts. Her eyes darken as she steps back towards him, "Those beasts that you're referring to? They may be under Esther's control, but, like you said, they're my people. So, if you hurt them, your bitch mother will be the least of your problems."
The Mikaelson inhales sharply, blinking away the stunned expression on his face from Hayley's little dig at him. Clearing his throat, he steps towards the closed door leading to Klaus and Lola and honestly..he wish he never did.
Straight away Elijah can feel broken glass beneath his feet from the moment he opens up the door. He glances down at the floor to see it covered in smashed glass, porcelain, china..anything the pair could've latched their hands onto it seemed. Chairs that once tucked underneath the dining table are now scattered across the room, some completely ripped to pieces. Artwork mantled on the walls now either finding a new home against the floor or are barely holding their place on the wall.
His attention goes to Klaus first out of the two, sat on one of the remaining chairs that are in one piece. The older Mikaelson then notices several forks imbedded into the wall behind the original hybrid, parts of his brother's shirt torn and revealing skin. Klaus wears no expression staring out in front of himself not even bothering to acknowledge his brother's presence.
"Do I even wish to know?" Elijah deadpans, stepping further into the room which makes him notice even more destruction within.
Elijah then turns his attention to Lola who glances over to the original for less than a second before she continues filing her nails. As she turns her head, Elijah notices dried blood against the nape of her neck to then he picks up on her hair out of place and torn clothes.
The original sighs heavily, leaning against the wall nearest to Lola, "I believe this is the longest either of you have thrown an insult or any form of an object at the other." He wears a false smile glancing between the chaotic couple, "Perhaps miracles can happen."
With pursed lips Lola shrugs, eyes not breaking away from her nails as she continues to file them, "I've been holding my breath because the smell of dog became a little overpowering."
Klaus' jaw tightens for a fraction of a second, this not being the first dog themed insult she has threw at him today. He chuckles dryly staring down at the table in front of him, "I've been waiting for a certain stubborn witch to divulge in what our mother could've possibly said to her."
"Like I said exactly seventy-six times last night.." A smug grin widens across Lola's lips, tilting her head looking towards Klaus, "It's none of your business."
His patience was wearing thin all night and he is seconds away from it being completely gone, "Did you say anything, anything at all, about Hope?"
"Seriously?" The heretic scoffs, throwing the metal nail file towards Klaus which imbeds against the backing of the chair, less than an inch from Klaus' face, "How stupid do you think I am? Last time I checked I have common sense with or without emotions."
Klaus' eyes darken, harshly coming to his feet with so much force the chair is thrown backwards while he glares down at an unfazed Lola, "How long are you planning to continue with this vile attitude of yours?"
"That depends..." Lola sits back in her chair, arms crossing against her chest, "How many years are you planning on breathing?"
It felt like acid had seeped into Klaus' veins, his anger was pulsating out of him like a thick red aura. His hands forms fists so tight his knuckles begin to turn white. Lola knows exactly how to get to him and it just keeps on getting worse. The hybrid turns silent instead of biting back he turns on his heel storming out of the room so quick if you looked closely Elijah's perfectly groomed hair is brushed back with air.
Lola's brows shoot up, eyes are dark with an impassive coldness to them. Stepping towards the chair Klaus practically kicked to the ground, Lola rips out the nail file from it before glancing towards Elijah who remains leaning against the wall. His expression was neither amused nor unamused.
"What?" Lola shrugs, taking a couple of steps towards the original, "Don't you have a suit convention you need to go to?"
Elijah pushes himself off the wall, the corner of his lips twitch into an amused smirk. Lola looks down at the nail file in her hand as she twists it around, wearing a fake pet lip, "Or maybe you can go and pine after Hayley."
Whatever amusement that may have found a home against Elijah's lips was soon turned into a cold stare towards the heretic. Her brows furrow wearing a fake sympathetic expression, "Staring at her from a distance, not having any balls to actually say how you feel. I wonder how many other occasions you've been like this, resulting in you losing any ounce of happiness. No longer the noble Original, now you're just the lonely one." Lola tilts her head to the side, clicking her tongue as she taps Elijah on the shoulder, "Such a shame."
The Salvatore pushes past Elijah, bashing into the side of him leaving him alone in the room. Lola walks out of the room, throwing the metal nail file over her shoulder which lands onto the dining table. The littlest impact of that nail file causes the dining table legs to completely break beneath it which has now added to the other destruction in the room.
An irritated breath escapes Elijah's mouth, jaw clenched staring down at the broken table, "Wonderful."

Sometimes, love doesn't win. Sometimes beautiful things end because you outgrow the other person, sometimes love becomes too heavy to hold. And even sometimes all you want to do is hold onto that love, but that special person you once shared an indescribable bond with is now nothing but a stranger.
Lola Salvatore was always confident that she knew Klaus Mikaelson more than anyone, and he would think the exact same way. Lola knew the merciless original hybrid, first of his kind side to Klaus. His cold side. She also knew a side of him that seemed rare, his caring side. It was the side of him that Lola admired the most. He was a sinner with a saint living in his heart. His warm side.
It was also well known that the original hybrid had little to not patience and whatever patience he had left was vanished when he could hear Lola's phone ringing constantly in the other room. He sits in a nearby room, his fingers digging into the arm rests of the leather chair as though he's doing it to stop himself from heading straight towards their bedroom.
He was going to resist going in there, he had to. Animosity between him and his beloved was at an all time high right now and he was desperate to bring them both back down to the ground together. The first part of this was to get Lola's humanity back; but how?
The hybrid could barely hear himself think when he can hear Lola's phone ringing once again which is mixed with music that is making the walls vibrate. With an aggressive huff, Klaus jumps out of his seat and walks straight towards his and Lola's bedroom.
As he steps closer to their room, he can already picture a smug looking Lola standing there purposely letting her phone constantly ring knowing that it would annoy Klaus, "Lola, would you pleaseโ" As Klaus pulls open the double doors leading to their room, he greeted with an empty room, "Lola?"
No response. With a narrowed stare, Klaus steps closer to the record player in the corner of the room. One Way or Another - Blondie is Lola's choice of musical torment for the hybrid but Lola was nowhere to be seen. He harshly removes the vinyl off the record player, dropping it to the floor and breathing out a sigh of relief at the silence.ย
But any ounce of relief he may have felt washed away the second Lola's phone starts to ring once again. Klaus' face darkens with annoyance, storming towards the bed and grabbing Lola's phone without even looking at the caller ID, "What!?"
"If I wanted to have an obnoxious hybrid burst my ear drum then I would've called you, dick."
"Stefan." Klaus breathes out, closing his eyes as he attempts to not sound as annoyed as he his, which fails massively, "Now is not the time. What do you want?"
"Well I called Lola's phone." Stefan deadpans in an unamused tone, the last thing he wanted was to have a one on one conversation with Klaus, "I want to speak to my sister. Where is she?"
Klaus rolls his eyes, almost forgetting it's impossible to go one day without an obnoxious Salvatore bothering him, "Obviously she isn't here otherwise I wouldn't have to subdue to this level of torture by speaking to you."
"Don't flatter yourself, Klaus." Stefan scoffs, "You think I want to be spending my day speaking to you?"
"I assume by you practically harassing Lola by the constant ringing means you are the reason she's left the compound." Klaus steps onto the balcony looking down at the large crowds that are quickly forming for the All Hallows Eve event, "No doubt also the reason she has purposely left her phone here."
"It's Halloween."
Standing up straight the hybrid's brows knit with confusion at Stefan's blunt response, "Your point being?"
The youngest Salvatore sighs heavily in an obnoxious way making Klaus practically see the eye roll that came with it, "We made an agreement before I left New Orleans that once her humanity was back that today was the day we were going to see each other. I'm trying to find out if she was coming to me or I'm coming there. I can just jump in my car and get there by tonight."
At first, Klaus was thankful Stefan wasn't there to see the worrisome look as the colour drains from his face. Every conversation he's had with Lola over the past few months flood back into his mind, wondering if he can remember any sort of agreement being made until Stefan's voice brings him back to reality, "Have you suddenly turned mute or something?"
Klaus swallows harshly coating the dryness formed in his throat, "What agreement are you talking about?"
"You don't know? That once everything was finished with Thomas she agreed to her humanity coming back?" Further silence from Klaus was the answer Stefan needed, making him scoff as he grows agitated, "The only reason I agreed to it was because she said you were part of this plan! Klaus, tell me my sister's humanity is back."
"She lied." Klaus sighs leaning against the balcony railings, "I knew nothing about it and her humanity is still gone. I'll admit, at this current moment in time..to put it lightly, she's out of control." The faintest hint of a smug grin twitches in the corners of Klaus' lips as he stands up straight reaching into his pocket, "But I assure you, Stefan, by the end of tonight we'll have the Lola back that we know."
"You're holding the ring you gave her, aren't you?" Klaus frowns at Stefan's dull tone and accurate prediction. Klaus stares down at the ring box in his hand before around the empty bedroom behind him when Stefan's tone changes to a more condescending one, "Hey, Klaus, I'm curious about something. Does your brain get smaller after each century you've lived or are you just naturally this slow? Do you seriously think showing Lola a ring is going to bring her humanity back? What else you going to do, huh? Show her daisies because of Cora?"
"You sound just like your sister." Klaus snaps in a frustrated tone, slamming the balcony doors shut behind himself. Stepping into the bedroom he shoves the ring box back into his pocket, "Vexing. Pompous. Arrogant."
The Salvatore scoffs, "Well that's not hard to believe considering she's my sister. You do realise we are trying to bring the emotions of a stubborn Salvatore back, right? Flowers and a ring won't work, Klaus."
"Instead of being the most irritating person on the planet, might I suggest you share some of your own ideas?" The smallest amount of patience that Klaus rarely has was nowhere to be seen during this phone call. This intensified even more hearing Stefan laughing through the phone, "My apologies, did I say something amusing, Stefan? Is this entire situation just comedic relief for you?"
"Klaus Mikaelson being clueless about something?" Stefan continues to laugh, barely able to speak through his laughter, "Yeah, that's hilarious. You can't blame me for laughing."ย
Stefan pauses, knowing fine well how aggravated he is making Klaus. He sighs and his tone becomes more calm, "Wait...little gestures like that won't work. It's not easy to bring emotions back to a vampire, it needs to be more thorough than that. I can hear him laughing but I know Damon would know exactly what to do to get Lola back."
An soft, amused breath escapes Klaus' lips as he sits on the edge of the bed, "It's maddening that I don't exactly disagree with you."
"Look, there are different stages to bring someone's humanity back." Stefan begins, "Something as little as a ring won't work. It'll be hard to do but you need to be hard with your actions. Why do you think she has been so harsh towards you the most? You're her humanity trigger, Klaus. It's only going to be you that can bring Lola back."
A lump forms within Klaus' throat feeling the sole responsibility to bring Lola back. His lips part about to respond to Stefan until something in the corner of his eye catches his attention. A folded up piece of paper against the sheets of their bed with a lipstick mark on the top of it. Growing instantly intrigued Klaus unfolds the paper, recognising the handwriting as Lola's,
Whatever it takes.ย
The song. The note. Creating a whole different meaning to those three words the pair would always say to each other in times of test. Everything pieced together in Klaus' mind, knowing exactly what Lola's next move is going to be. Something he never thought she would ever have the mindset of doing. There wasn't going to be much longer to bring the woman he loves back.
"Great. You've turned mute again."
Stefan's annoyed and frustrated tone brings Klaus out of this thoughts. The hybrid's expression tuns serious coming to his feet and heading out of the room, "I stand by my previous statement, Stefan. Lola will be back by the end of tonight."

"Finally, you pick up your phone!" Cami breathes out a heavy sigh of relief when Davina answers her hundredth phone call, "I've been trying to get a hold of you for days! Way to leave a girl hanging."
"I know, I should have called you back. I didn't want you to worry. I just...things are complicated."
"Yeah, well, word on the streetsโ" Cami presses her phone between her ear and shoulder as she opens up the door into her apartment complex, "And, by streets, I mean Josh is that you've gone totally MIA." Already half way up the stairs to her apartment, Cami comes to an abrupt halt, her brows furrowing with concern, "Seriously, are you okay? Where are you?"
"I'm fine. I'll be back soon, I promise. And...thanks for calling. It's good to hear your voice."
"Davina?" The unsure and shaky tone in Davina's voice adds to Cami's concerns and even more concern floods the O'Connell's mind when the young witch hangs up abruptly, "Davina?"
Cami sighs as she approaches the front door to her apartment. She sends a text to Davina expressing her concerns as she steps into her apartment.
"Finally." Lola's monotone voice makes Cami jump, almost dropping her phone out of her hand, "I've been dying for a drink." Lola who sits across Cami's couch with her back to the door, turns her head slightly for Cami to see the smug smirk against the heretic's lips, "Hello, Cami."
"That's all I get?" Cami scoffs as she harshly slams the door behind herself and storming to where Lola sits, "You barging into my house, demanding a drink the second I walk through the door. Then a Hello, Cami?"
Lola brows raise up in surprise at the human's outburst, an amused grin appears, "What do you want?"
Cami could feel the heat rising to her cheeks not breaking eye contact from Lola. Looking into those green orbs takes her back to the night they met, when everything seemed fine. Cami clears her throat, being the first to break eye contact, "I want you to take your shoes off."
Lola laughs breathlessly, frowning up at Cami, "Excuse me?"
Cami tries her hardest to show no emotion before she turns her back on Lola, stepping towards her kitchen, "If you're going to put your feet up on my couch, making yourself at home like you pay the rent in this place. Then I expect you to treat it like a home and take your shoes off."
Lola bites the inside of her cheek to mask the amused grin she automatically wears whenever around the blonde O'Connell. She comes to her feet, stepping towards the kitchen as she watches Cami opening up her liquor cabinet, "I'll have aโ"
"Tequila, I know." With a fake, condescending smile Cami turns to face Lola, countertop in between them both. She places a glass on it, "Well, tough shit. You're getting bourbon."ย
Cami can feel Lola watching her, through hooded eyes the glances to where an expressionless Lola stands, "What do you want, Lola?"
"I wanted to see you." Cami is taken aback by the soft tone in Lola's voice, feeling her own throat instantly turn dry. Her lips part as she fully looks towards Lola who wears a faint smile, "Is that so hard to believe?"
"When your current mentality status is an emotionless psycho?" Cami's face turns cold, eyes darken as she slams the full glass of bourbon in front of Lola, "Yes."
Lola hums in amusement taking hold of the glass. She twists on her heel stepping towards the dining table until she stops, sensing Cami doing something behind her, "I wouldn't do that."
Cami stops in her step, hand reaching out to the biggest knife within the knife block. She turns slightly to see Lola still having her back to her, "If it's a weapon you want to kill me with you should go with something that's a bit more wooden."ย
The O'Connell's shoulders slump, turning around to face Lola as the heretic takes a seat at the table. She shrugs gesturing towards Cami, "It's okay. You want something to protect yourself with. Go ahead."
Despite Lola's previous advice, Cami still takes a large knife out of the block. That in one hand and her drink in the other, she walks towards the table sitting opposite Lola, "You want something from me. I just can't figure out what it is."
"You're a smart girl." Lola smirks, she practically whispers leaning against the table, "I'm sure it won't be too hard for you to figure it out."
Cami can feel her heart pounding against her ribcage, feeling a sense of deja vu, "You said the exact same thing the night we met. The same night you gave me advice about the problems I was having with my friend. You said that people like you are stubborn and proud." Something flashed across Lola's eyes so quickly Cami almost missed it. Pain, worry maybe, "Also a little scared because you know deep down what I'm saying is the truth. But you don't want to face it."
"I know." Those two words are smothered with a patronising tone as Lola sits back in her seat, "I was there for all of it, remember?"
Without even realising, Cami found herself leaning forward against the table. Feeling some sort of pull towards the heretic, "Is this another one of those moments?"
The Salvatore's lips curved into a devilish grin, "Sorry to pop your therapist bubble but no. I need to know where Davina is." Cami's darkened eyes follow Lola as she comes to her feet, "Don't bother with the glare, I already heard everything."
Cami breathes out in an exasperated manner, "You listened to our phone call." She twists in her seat, watching Lola step towards the liquor cabinet, "Well sorry to pop your psychotic bubble but Davina never said where she was."
"Oh, I didn't need her to divulge her location.ย I heard cicadas, and I heard tans, but the real giveaway was the church bells." Lola turns around with a bottle of tequila in her hand, Cami watches as Lola pours herself a drink and listens intently, "Did you know Davina's family owns a little cabin in Terrebonne Parish? It's been abandoned for years! I lived here once upon a time, Cami. I know it's nearby the loveliest little chapel. It's quite quaint really. The perfect place to go when you want to hide."
Anger begins to heat Cami's cheeks, sitting forward in her seat. Hand clutching hold of the knife, "If you hurt her, Lola. I swearโ"
"I have no intentions to hurt Davina." Lola brings the full glass of tequila to her lips, turning around to place the bottle back into the cabinet, "She has something I want and I'm pretty sure when I tell her my plan, she will want work with me."
Cami eyes widen, slowly coming to her feet, "You want the white oak. Why?"
"That's for me to know." Lola softly places the glass against the counter before she vamp speeds behind Cami making the human jump as she spins around. With a smirk, Lola takes hold of the knife in Cami's hand dropping it to the floor. Still with Cami's hand in hers, Lola pulls Cami towards her, closing the gap, "Careful, Cami. Last time we were this close to each other..." Her smirk grows even wider when she can hear Cami's breath halting in the back of her throat and her heart racing, "It got a little heated."
"What?" Cami almost stutters, swallowing hard, "When you kissed me?"
Lola leans closer to Cami, almost brushing her lips against the O'Connell's, "You kissed me first."
Cami frowns, pulling her hand out of Lola's and stepping backwards, "You love this, don't you? Belittling people. Acting superior to everyone when in fact..." Her gaze softens towards the heretic, "Inside that stone cold suit of amour you're wearing, the Lola we all love is still in there. Desperate to be free."
"Is that what you really think?" Cami couldn't quite figure out the look in Lola's eyes until it flashes across her eyes again. It wasn't pain. It wasn't worry. It was her humanity.
"I know that's the truth." Cami whispers making Lola looks away from her.
"Lola." Lola's almost conflicted looking stare meets Cami's soft and calm one. Hearing her name fall from Cami's lips felt like time had stopped for a split second, "It's okay. We just want you back."
As Cami takes a step closer, Lola takes a step backwards. She turns her back on Cami and heads straight towards the door, "I got what I came here for. Thank you for the drink, Cami."
Shutting the door behind herself, Lola rests against the door feeling like she needs to catch her breath. There was a part of her that wanted to stay there and wait to see if Cami would follow. She listens expecting to hear footsteps approach the door, but they never do. They step further away from the door. Harshly clearing her throat, Lola pushes herself away from the door.ย
"Hey!" A wide smiled Adrianna stands in the middle of the hallway as Lola tries to leave. Her smile drops slightly when Lola doesn't seem fazed in the slightest at her appearance, "So not only are you ignoring my calls, you're now ignoring me in person?"
Lola scoffs, pushing past Adrianna to continue walking out of the complex, "Remind me again why I kept you in my life all these years?"
"Because I'm your best friend!" Adrianna's entire posture slumps, her heart drops watching as Lola continues to walk away, "Hey!" She laughs breathlessly, vamp speeding in front of Lola to stop her. Her heart drops even further being able to fully take in Lola's current persona, "Your humanity is still off."
"Ten points to the know-it-all."
Lola takes a step to the side, trying to walk away but Adrianna once again blocks her from doing so, "Is this why you keep shutting me out? Lo, talk to me. I want to help."
"Did it ever occur to you that by some miracle I don't need your help? And don't want your help? I never have." The heretic's words are laced with venom when her eyes darken, glaring towards the red-headed vampire, "The only reason I've kept you in my life was because it made me feel better about myself."
Her face twists with a fake sympathetic expression, fake pet lip, "Poor little Adrianna with the traumatic upbringing. Father hating you and blaming you for your mother's death. Brother acting like you never existed." Adrianna's eyes flutter when she can feel the stinging sensation of tears. She takes a step backwards as Lola steps closer to her, "It was pleasing to know that your life was just as tragic as mine. It was worse now that I think about it."
"This isn't you." Adrianna shakes her head, practically whispering. Her brows pull inwards as pools of tears form in the corner of her eyes, "The Lola I know would never be this cruel. You can tell the Lola I love that I'll be right here whenever she decides to show her stubborn ass again." A forced smile spreads across Adrianna's lips, blinking away the tears, "In the meantime, can act like you hate me or whatever bullshit you want to do. That's fine."
"It's not that I hate you. It's not that anybody hates you." For a second, to Adrianna it sounded like Lola's tone was soft and caring just like it always used to be. But all of that fades when Lola's face turns cold, "It's just that no one really thinks about you at all. You're nobody and you will always be nobody."ย
Adrianna swallows down the lump forming in her throat as Lola closes the gap between them both. The look in her best friend's eyes is something Adrianna has never seen before, "You moved here because you so desperately want to be part of my life because yours has so little meaning. It's pathetic."

Klaus walks through the bustling crowds in the Quarter, pushing past all the crowds that have formed. It felt like it was a race against time to find Lola. He was confident that although she was trying to find the white oak to use against him, he knew she would never be able to do it when it came to it. That's what he hoped deep down. That the woman he knows is his soulmate, wouldn't be able to look him in the eyes as she killed him.ย
He spoke to a shaken up Adrianna who explained in detail the encounter she had with the heretic. Klaus knew Lola was getting out of control but after hearing what she said to Adrianna, getting out of control was an understatement. It almost angered him hearing the venomous words she threw at the woman who has been like a sister to her for over sixty years.ย
Klaus comes to a halt, standing in the middle of the busy road almost starting to feel helpless that he isn't going to find her. Until he hears a large crowd to the side of him chanting. He grows intrigued as he steps closer, eyes widening when he realises the group is chanting Lola's name.
"Lola! Lola! Lola! Lola!"
Pushing through the middle of the small crowd that continues to cheer her name, he sees Lola standing in the middle of them all having what looks like a drinking competition with someone dressed up as a werewolf. Ironic.
Klaus storms towards Lola, pulling the drink out of her hand and throwing it against the wall. The crowd all boo him as he pulls Lola away from them all, "We don't have time for your little games."
"I don't have time for you man handling me." Lola yanks her arm out of Klaus' grip, stepping away from him. Her face is full of rage towards him, "I'm busyโ"
"You're busy finding Davina." Klaus interrupts Lola, she looks over to him confused resulting in Klaus smiling stepping closer to her, "Am I wrong?" He's greeted with silence making his smile widen even further, "Well, that makes two of us. Lets start with that little twit Josh. I'm sure he will have some indication on where his little friend is."
Lola flashes a false smile, stepping away from Klaus, "I already know where Davina is."
Stepping towards Lola, the hybrid wears a curious expression, "How do you know?"
"I have my sources. But there's not a chance in hell I'm going to tell you where she is." Lola bumps into the side of Klaus as she starts to walk away from him, "I have my own agenda and it doesn't involve you."
"I'm sure you'll need to drive to wherever Davina is." Klaus catches up to Lola as she tries to walk away. With a smirk twitching up at the corner of his mouth Klaus stands in front of her. His hand reaches into his pocket, "It just so happens I have the keys to your car." He holds the car key out in front of him making Lola reach out attempting to take it. Klaus moves his hand back, brows shooting up in amusement, "I'll drive you."
Lola glares towards the hybrid as her posture slumps, "Why would I agree to that?"
"How else will you get to where you need to go?" Arms going behind his back, Klaus starts to circle around Lola slowly, "Can't take my car because you impaled each tyre with my daggers. I presume that was to stop me from following you?"
"Clearly that failed." Lola rolls her eyes as she starts walking ahead once again, Klaus walking by her side, "You'll stalk me with or without your trash car. Fine." She comes to an abrupt stop as she shrugs, "You can drive. But I'll direct you and I'm not telling you my plan."
A satisfied smile widens across Klaus' lips, he takes a step back holding his arm out gesturing towards Lola's car already parked up to the side, "After you, love."

Whatever pain you think you are in right now cannot begin to compare to the peace that will one day come over you. It cannot begin to compare to the joy that you will one day know. You will fall in love with life again, and it will be better than it was before because you will become a different person. You will become someone who is more than capable of appreciating what matters, who will not be as reckless with their choices. Who can no longer be so easily swayed or mindlessly trusting.
You will require a new level of integrity within your life, which will transpire into better boundaries and a more stable foundation. You will strengthen in the most unexpected ways, and from that, your happiness will be even more sincere, even more apparent.ย
This will not happen overnight, though it will seem like it did in retrospect. Like the changing of a season, everything shifts slowly until all of a sudden, you are standing firmly in the after, in all you feared would never come. You're through it, but you're different because something also moved through you and cleared out what you didn't even realise was standing in the way.ย
Klaus was confident that Lola would feel all of that, he was confident she would sooner rather than later. He can't help but smile that she is willingly in his presence right now, albeit, she refuses to look at him. He looks to the side of him to see Lola's stare fixated on the passenger's window, legs leaning up against the dashboard.ย
"I know what you're playing at by the way." Lola mumbles able to feel Klaus' stare practically burning holes in the back of her head.
Klaus chuckles to himself, turning his attention back to the road as he drives, "Prey tell, what is it exactly you think I'm playing at?"
"You spoke to Stefan, didn't you?" Lola looks towards Klaus driving, quick enough to see the small flash of panic spread across his face making her scoff, "Don't even bother. I can tell by your face you did. So no doubt this is all part of your plan. Trying to be innocent by driving me to see Davina, claiming you don't know what I'm planning but it's obvious you do. You seen my note. I know you read between the lines."
"Even after all of this time," A warm smile is against Klaus' lips glancing to Lola, "You still know me so well."
Lola rolls her eyes, arms folding against her chest, "It makes me feel nauseous. You know who didn't make me feel this way? My biker friend; Reggie." Resting against the headrest, Lola turns to watch Klaus visibly begin to stiffen making her want to bite even more, "Who I love...and I miss very much. Did I tell you he has a tattoo of a fork? Yep. On his neck," Reaching her arm out towards Klaus, she slowly drags her finger along the side of his neck. She didn't think it was possible for Klaus to become more tense than he already was, "Right here."
The Salvatore bites the inside of her cheek, feeling proud of herself for working Klaus up. She perks up slightly seeing a bar in the distance, "Pull over." Klaus ignores her, instead speeding up making her scoff, "Klaus, pull over I have to pee!" With no expression Klaus glances to where Lola sits before staring back at the road. Lola purses her lips and shrugs, "Fine. Maybe, I'll just..."
The hybrid's eyes widen watching as Lola's hand goes towards the door handle about to open the door as the car continues to move. Klaus slams down the breaks, serving the car to the side of the road. Within seconds Lola climbs out and starts to walk away and Klaus follows, "Where are you going?"
Lola continues to walk towards the bar in the distance, "Away from you."
"I know you want the white oak." Klaus shouts after Lola, he watches as her fast steps turn slow just for a second before she begins to speed up away from him once again. Klaus vamp speeds in front of her, his eyes are full of hurt and betrayal, "You hate me that much you wish to use it on me?"
"I don't hate you, Klaus." Lola closes the gap between them both, her hand softly going against his chest. She smiled softly but this time it was different, her face smiled but her eyes didn't. Her face then turns cold, pushing Klaus away from her, "I feel nothing for you."
"You want to kill me? Fine." Klaus shrugs, unable to cover up the hurt that is in his eyes, "Go ahead."ย
Lola rolls her eyes before she continues to walk away as Klaus continues, remaining in his same spot, "But, if you kill me you're killing a lot of other people in the process. Adrianna, Nate, Scott. Caroline, Elena." Lola stops a few feet away from Klaus, keeping her back to him. Klaus' tone becomes more stern as he steps closer to her, "Marcel. Stefan. You may feel nothing towards me but it's impossible for you to not feel something for any of them. Especially for your fellow chaotic Salvatore in a leather jacket."
The Salvatore's head tilts to the side when she turns to face Klaus, narrowing her stare at him, "You do understand the meaning of no emotions, right? I mean, you're the one who went centuries acting like you had none. Are you going to stand in front of me right now and act like you have no emotions about my plan? What about if I said I've never loved you?"
It was visibly obvious that Lola's words hit Klaus deep but that only made Lola go further in her hateful words, "Maybe you kept me in your life all this time because you just wanted the attention that you craved." Klaus frowns, stepping back from her. The hurt in his eyes become even more prominent as Lola repeats what she said in the fifties when she left him. A wickedly evil grin is plastered on the heretic's face as she steps closer to him, "The attention you've never had from anyone. You wanted the gap of loneliness to fade. But in reality, you've always been alone. That's never going to change."
"What's the matter, Klaus?" Her face changes to showing a fake sympathetic look, lips forming a thin line, "Regret coming along with me? Maybe it's for the best if I just leave you here to wallow in your own self pity."
Klaus eyes darken closing the gap between them both, "The only thing I regret is failing to realise how far you've spun out of control. And you can forget about leaving! I've had enough of your vile behaviour." Without giving Lola the chance to react, Klaus throws her over his shoulder before he heads straight towards the bar close by.
"Put me down!" Lola screams out as she tries to fight herself out of Klaus' hold, "You stupid piece ofโ"
"You don't get it, do you?" Klaus raises his voice, harshly putting Lola on the ground, "You're just going to walk away from this? You can't walk away from something that's as real as us. You don't want to say it? Fine, I don't care. But I can say it." His posture relaxes, eyes soften towards the heretic, "I need you, Lola. Don't leave me."
The Mikaelson could've swore he seen Lola's humanity flash across her eyes. She knows he seen it. She quickly blinks any remainings of it before she pushes away from him and storms into the bar. Klaus remains outside for a moment, attempting to calm himself. He knew that Lola would say anything and everything to hurt him. However, hearing most of what she said to him in the fifties caught him by surprise. Being one of the worst moments in his life.ย
Stefan may have said showing Lola her ring wouldn't work but Klaus had to try. He was fairly positive it wouldn't work but still felt the need to do so. And if that didn't work, he'd resort to other options. Options that deep down he feared what Lola's reactions may be.
Eventually walking into the bar, straight away he sees Lola sitting in the corner already with a drink in her hand. She spots him walking towards her making her roll her eyes. With a faint smile, Klaus sits opposite her, "Watching you holding Hope in your arms will always been the greatest moment in my life, Lola." Reaching into his pocket, he takes out the ring box opening it up and pushing it in front of her, "Accepting my proposal is the second greatest thing."
Lola's breathing becomes shaky and erratic, brows furrow staring down at her engagement ring. She swallows harshly as pools of tears begin to form in the corners of her eyes, "I'm sorry..."
Klaus leans forward, thinking to himself that surely it wasn't going to be this easy. Lola's breathing becomes even heavier before a black-hearted grin spreads across her face and she starts to laugh viciously, "Did you think what would have worked? Is this one of the plans you created with Stefan?" Klaus rolls his eyes taking the ring pack, shoving it into his pocket. Lola's laughter dies down as she leans back in her seat, "Oh, wait. I know. He told you it was a dumb idea. Now that I agree with. I can't believe you thought that was going to work."
Lola brings her drink towards her lips, tilting her head slightly at Klaus, "Why don't you go to Savannah and spend time with Stefan instead?" She gets a puzzled look from Klaus making her shrug, "Well one Salvatore is dead but he couldn't stand you anyway. Then you have me and the idea of being around you makes me nauseous. That only leaves Stefan."
She playfully hits Klaus' shoulder as she laughs, "Come on, I remember you two in the twenties. Honestly if Rebekah and I weren't in the picture during that time I have no doubt in my mind thatโ"
"Stand up." Klaus interrupts her, swiftly coming to his feet.
Lola laughs breathlessly, shaking her head, "No."
The hybrid flashes a smile full of annoyance before taking hold of her wrist forcing her to stand, "You're making this really difficult, love."
Lola raises a brow as Klaus guides her further into the middle of the bar, "You want to dance?"
"Just do it." Klaus breathes out. Lola hesitates for a moment before she complies, intertwining her hand with his. Her other hand going against his upper arm while his rests against her waist, "We never talk about what happened after we all fled New Orleans in 1919."
Lola huffs out an exasperated breath, shaking her head, "I'm not giving in to your games, Klaus."
"To put it lightly, I was distraught." Klaus chuckles softly before his expression saddens thinking back to this particular time in their life, "We thought we had lost Marcel. Rebekah was inconsolable at the time, we didn't know where Elijah was. I was cruel to you. I built all of my anger up and took it out on you because you were the only one who was there." Lola tries to avoid Klaus' gave but he lowers his head to catch her stare as he smiles, "You never gave up on me."
The Salvatore finds herself staring down at Klaus' lips, feeling her own starting to part and herself pulling closer to him, "Can you remember what you would do whenever it got to that stage?" Klaus chuckles, his hand ever so slightly moves against Lola's waist sending shivers up her spine, "You made me dance. Whether there was music playing or not. We'd dance."
Klaus' hand tightens around Lola's waist, pulling her even closer to him. She remains silent, unable to fathom any words as she stares into his blue orbs, "You'd look me in the eyes and say... We are two halves that survive better together. Our hearts beat in the same rhythm because together we are one and we always will be."
Klaus brushes his lips against Lola's and for a second she felt herself once again pulling closer to him. The hybrid then brushes his lips against the side of Lola's face, he can't help but begin to feel a small ounce of joy when he can heart Lola's heart starting to race.
She allows herself to subdue to this almost unwelcoming feeling of comfort, closing her eyes and leaning into his touch. Until she soon snaps out of it. Her posture stiffens opening her eyes to see them no longer in the same bar, instead back in the compound. She pushes herself away from Klaus who turns silent, "What have you done? Get out of my head, Klaus. I swear, I willโ"
A ripple of laughter stops Lola from finishing her threat. A baby's laughter. It feels like her heart has completely stopped as she slowly turns on her heel to see that they're standing outside of Hope's nursery in the compound.
"Hear that?" Klaus steps up behind Lola, his hands cautiously go against her hips, "That's Hope. Through that door you are with our daughter."
Every single being in Lola's body is itching for her to run to Hope's door, swing it open and be reunited with her daughter. That's all she's been dreaming of ever since she let her little girl go. But none of this is real. It's all an illusion.ย
"There's one little flaw in your plan, Klaus." Lola's hands form fists so tight her knuckles begin to turn white. Eyes are darkened with rage turning around to face Klaus, as she does the whole illusion of the compound evaporates and now they're back in the bar, "Hope is gone. You shouldn't have done that."
"Your humanity is flickering, love." Klaus takes hold of Lola's hand pulling her closer to him before cupping both of her cheeks. He lowers himself to become eye level, his eyes are glossy and full of plea, "The only way I was able to get into your head is because those walls you have surrounding every emotion in your stubborn mind are slowly fading."
"It doesn't matter if my humanity comes back or not." Lola's voice is shaky and she almost doesn't believe her own words when she pushes away from Klaus, "I will never forgive you for that."
Klaus stays standing in the middle of the bar as Lola begins to walk towards the exit. He looks down at the ground as he sighs, "Perhaps you're right and that's something I'm willing to live with." He begins to follow Lola out of the bar, hand reaching into his pocket, "I suppose we'll have to find out if you'll forgive me for this too."
Rushing towards Lola, he wraps his arm around her to stop her from moving. With his other hand he brings up a needle towards Lola's neck. Her eyes widen seeing it and tries to break out of Klaus' hold but he is always going to have more strength than her. He presses the needle into the nape of Lola's neck, injecting her with vervain.ย
Her eyes tightly shut when the feeling of acid shooting into her blood stream intensifies. Somehow she manages to break out of Klaus' hold, hand going against her neck. Her eyes are full of betrayal, but also confusion that she is still managing to be conscious.ย
"You thought that was going to work?"ย She laughs spitefully stepping to Klaus, taking the car keys out of his pocket, "I'm getting that white oak."
Lola was expecting Klaus to follow her, but he didn't. The sunlight makes Lola wince, hand attempting to block it. A loud engine catches her attention. She could've sworn it felt as though her heart stopped beating when the familiar blue chevy pulls up right beside her.ย
"Well, well, well." Lola's eyes widen when a dark haired man in a leather jacket climbs out of the car. The familiar smirk graces his lips, "We've got some catching up to do, Lo."
"Damon?" Lola practically whispers, a lump immediately forming in her throat. She exhales a shaky breath turning her back on him as she shakes her head, "This is just another game. You're dead."
"Just as dead as you, little sister." Damon closes the car door, stepping closer to where Lola stands. He shoves his hands into his pockets as he stands by her side, "No humanity, huh? Were you that distraught over losing your favourite brother?" Lola remains staring ahead of her, she can feel her entire body shaking not daring to look at Damon beside her, "I can't blame you."
Damon sighs, he takes hold of Lola's hand which makes her slowly look towards him. Damon smiles sadly, not releasing Lola's hand, "You have to let me go, Lo. I need you to do that for me." He pushes some of her hair out of her face, "Please."
Lola jaw clenches when she shakes her head as though she's trying to shake this vision out of her mind. She pulls her hand out of Damon's hold as she steps back, "I've already let you go. I let you go a long time ago, Damon."
"If you did then we wouldn't be standing here right now." The infamous Damon smirk and cocky expression covers his face, "You know I'm no stranger to the humanity switch but even I know when someone has gone too far, Lo."
"This isn't worse than leaving your friend in a burning building." Lola's eyes turn glossy as her anger intensifies, "This isn't worse than killing your sister's fiancee, hours before her wedding! This isn't worse than all of the torment you threw at Stefan over the years!"
The once calm and soft stature of Damon disappears. The cold and harsh one appears when he laughs spitefully gesturing to his sister, "Look at yourself. This is getting embarrassing, Lola. Can you honestly stand there and tell me what Hope would be proud to call you her mother?" His eyes darken with hatred, stepping closer to her, "Because I'm not proud to call you my sister."
Lola's brows shoot up when she scoffs, "You're not real. You're dead."
"Congratulations," Damon's tone turns into a patronising one, a tone Lola feels too familiar with. The same tone he'd use whenever she tried to live her own life without him, "You figured out I'm not really here. But that doesn't matter. You know this is what I would say and you know that deep down, you believe it yourself."
"This is all just some game and Klaus is in my head." She aggressively runs her hands through her hair, laughing to herself, "Thinking that a quick little conversation with my dead brother would bring my humanity back. It's not going to work."
"You sure about that?" Damon narrows his stare towards his sister, tilting his head, "You're angry, right? Last time I checked, Lo, that's an emotion. What if I did this?"
Lola gasps when Damon rushes behind her, wrapping his arm around her and the other going against her throat, "Damon, let go of me!"
"That's funny." Damon breathes out through gritted teeth as his grip tightens around her neck, "You said the exact same thing last time I did this. You were so angry with me that you had your hand wrapped around my heart ready to kill me." Lola tries to break free but it only makes Damon's grip even worse, "It's okay that anger is the first emotion you get back, it's normal. Let it in, Lo."
Damon scoffs, the hand against Lola's neck moves to the side ever so slightly, "You want to be stubborn? Fine." In one swift motion Damon snaps Lola's neck, dropping her to the floor.
Lola breathes heavily as she wakes up, hand going straight to her throat. She frowns as she takes in her surroundings, it's not longer light and she is no longer outside of the dreary bar. Instead it's night and she is sat in the passenger side of her car.
"Davina!" Klaus' bellowing voice catches Lola's attention, she looks to the side to see him pacing outside of the little cabin, "Is this not why you brought him for? I'm not afraid!"
Lola's eyes darken with rage, everything was an illusion. Damon being there, Damon breaking her neck. It wasn't real. Klaus did all of this to get into her head and to get Davina's location. Klaus continues to pace outside of the cabin. His glare not leaving it until he screams out in pain, feeling like all the blood vessels in his brain burst simultaneously. He drops to the floor, hands going against the side of his head as he screams out.ย
"How dare you!" Lola harshly snaps, she twists her hand slightly making Klaus' legs break making him scream out even more, "How dare you get into my head and show me visions of Damon. Of Hope! Is that what you wanted me to feel? Pain?" Lola laughs but it lacks humour, "How about I make you feel pain instead?"
Klaus' breathing becomes heavy, trying to fight through the pain. Seeing Klaus doing do distracts Lola for less than a second but it was enough for Klaus. He quickly comes to his feet, rushing Lola against a tree. His hands tighten against both of her arms.
Angry tears stream down Lola's face as she tries to fight him off her but it's no use, she's weak from the vervain, "Let go of me!"
Klaus releases his grip from Lola, opening up his jacket he reveals Papa Tunde's blade. With force he takes hold of Lola's hand, wrapping it around the blade before pressing it against his own chest, "If you truly wish to bring me pain then all you need to do is add pressure."
Lola's breathing becomes uneasy, trying to pull her hand away but she can't. Eyes flutter between the blade in her hand, pressing against Klaus' chest and the determined look on his face, "What are youโ"
"You won't do it, will you?" Klaus' other hand goes against Lola's cheek, thumb swiping away the fallen tears, "I know how strong, brilliant and powerful your mind is, my love. I also know that anger can often be the most common emotion to return first. Everything that happened today wasn't worthless." Klaus can see the pain on his beloved's face and as much as it hurts him to see her in this state, it was necessary, "Your humanity is trying to come back to you, Lola. If it wasn't you'd have already imbedded this into my chest. And I wouldn't be able to hear your heart almost beating out of yours."
With any strength Lola has left, Lola pushes Klaus away from her, "You're wrong." She looks down at the blade in her shaky hand before she throws it to the floor. Her eyes show nothing but hatred towards him, "Why would I want to use that blade when I can just take a few more steps to be in proximity of the one thing that can end you permanently."
A slow clap catches the couple off guard. They look towards the cabin where they see Mikael standing on the porch, laughing to himself as he continues to clap. Klaus immediately pulls Lola behind him as Mikael descends down the steps, "Isn't this delightful. Hello, boy."
Klaus attempts to keep his posture looking stiff but Mikael laughs viciously, being able to see the fear beneath the hybrid's eyes, "You seem rather impatient. Are you so eager to meet your end?"
"I'm only eager to stand over your burning corpse again." Klaus spits wearing a smug grin, "Only this time, I intend to enjoy it more."
Mikael glares at Lola over Klaus' shoulder, "I see you still haven't been able to shake the wretched whore from your shadow. Pity."
Lola tries to step away from Klaus but he only pulls her closer to him again, "I see you still have that shitty moustache that just looks like you've drank some milk."
Klaus' eyes go straight to the white oak stake in Mikael's grip as his father steps closer to them both, "I've traveled all the way back from hell for this moment."
"Well, then," Klaus takes one step forward as he smiles, "I'd hate to keep you waiting!"
Mikael lunges for Klaus, punching him with so much force he is thrown backwards. With an evil smile Mikael grabs a fistful of Lola's hair before he slaps her so harshly her head collides with the ground, knocking her out cold. His grip tightens around the stake stepping close to her unconscious body until Klaus vamp speeds him to the nearest tree, his hand wrapping around Mikael's throat, "You'll die for that."
Though they both manage most of each others' blows, Mikael clearly has the upper hand. He eventually kicks Klaus down onto the ground, and then kicks him again so that he's laying flat on his back. Lola starts to wake up, her hand going to the part of her head that had the impact with the ground. Her vision is blurry as she tries to regain her balance.ย
Sitting up slightly, her eyes widen looking to Mikael towering over Klaus, his hand tightly around Klaus' throat as he impales his shoulder with the white oak stake making the hybrid scream out in pain. Why did she feel a sudden wave of panic watching Klaus in pain?
She quickly comes to her feet, frantically looking on the ground for Papa Tunde's blade. Mikael pulls the stake out of Klaus' shoulder, he lunges and is less than an inch from the stake stabbing Klaus directly in the heart. Klaus holds onto the stake, trying to pull it away from himself. At one point, Mikael's strength overpowered him, the tip of the stake pressing into Klaus' chest until Mikael is forcibly flung away from Klaus.ย
Klaus sits up immediately just as Lola towers over Mikael, quickly imbedding Papa Tunde's blade into his chest. Mikael's eyes shoot open, he screams out in pain watching as the blade embeds itself into his chest.
Lola comes to her feet, pushing her hair out of her face when she sighs. She smirks down at Klaus who looks bewildered up at her, "Turns out I'm not just a chaotic Salvatore in a leather jacket."
"You could've easily not intervened." Klaus takes hold of Lola's hand as he comes to his feet, "Allowed Mikael to end me just like you desire."
The heretic shrugs, staring down at Mikael on the floor, "Well...it was either watch you in pain or watch him in pain." Her eyes go to her hand still intertwined with Klaus', an hour ago she would have pulled away from him instantly but something made her want to hold on. She meets Klaus' gaze, "I decided to go with the latter."
There was still conflict within her eyes. But the small smile that graced her lips for a fraction of a second gave Klaus all the hope he needs. The Lola he knows and loves is coming back. And he is going to do whatever it takes to make sure she does.ย
