Chapter 31

It Takes a Monster to Destroy a Monster

The truth is, every monster you meet in your life was once a human being that had a soul that was as soft and light as silk. Someone stole that silk from their soul and turned them into a monster.

Throughout Lola's life she heard assumptions from many people that there was a darkness within her. At first she didn't want to believe it, especially from the first person who ever claimed such a thing; her father. How could a six year old have so much darkness within when he was more darkness than she had ever seen.

Giuseppe Salvatore said his daughter needed to be respected within Mystic Falls. Everything he threw at her, she did it. Piano lessons, check. Singing lessons, check. Proper etiquette lessons, check. Every single thing, she did them. Some days she thought maybeโ€” just maybeโ€” she would get approval off her father but anything she did, it would always result in the same reaction; anger.

Deep down, she couldn't care less whether she had approval off her father, it didn't mean a thing to her. She knew his true feelings towards his only daughter were pure hatred and no matter what she would do, that would never change. That heightened after the death of her mother. He had one less person in the household to take his anger out on. Thus, him being more abusive towards all his children.

Lola didn't look like her mother, they didn't have the same hair colour, eyes, nothing; except for her smile. She had the same mannerisms as her mother. The way her lips would scrunch into a purse at the side when she was in thought. The same faint dimples that would become prominent on her rose tinted cheeks whenever she laughed. To anyone who knew Lily before she passed would sought comfort in Lola sharing those similarities, feeling that there was still a part of the late Lillian Salvatore still in the world. But not Giuseppe, if anything he loathed it.

However there was a time in Giuseppe Salvatore's life where his greatest treasure was his little girl. He felt nothing but pride the day Lola was born. He was known to being strict and wanting his children to work hard in their lives but there was a kind side to the head of the Salvatore family. But all of that changed when he learned the truth about the witch side of his wife's family, ending with his own daughter. During that night, it was the first time he'd ever lay a hand on his children and from that night forward he didn't stop.

Giuseppe would poison Lola's mind, making her think it was her fault for their family's downfall. Making her believe she had a darkness within herself. She was determined to prove him wrong but as she stands looking ahead of her to the various candles lit across the table, a photograph of her and Damon staring back up at her, she realised the darkness was inevitable. She couldn't fight it any longer.

Lola takes a deep breath, almost preparing herself for what she's about to do. There's a small part of her that wants to keep on fighting away all the pain she feels but it's starting to suffocate her. She opens up the backing of the bookcase, placing the emerald box that now is locked. She wears a conflicted expression, one hand still holding onto the box as though a voice in her head continues to tell her to fight.

"You're stalling."

The heretic inhales sharply, eyes closed as she closes up the backing to the bookcase, "No, I'm not." As she turns on her heel, she's greeted with Cora who is wearing a displeased look making Lola sigh, "Cora, stop."

"Are you forgetting everything that's happened?" Cora's tone turns harsh, eyes darken as she watches her only niece push past her, "Why do you keep holding back?"

"Please," Lola's voice turns into a shaky whisper. Her back is to her aunt, refusing to look in the elder's direction, "Just stop it."

Cora takes a step closer to Lola, her tone becoming even more sharp, "Are you forgetting everything that happened to me?"

Aggressively running her hands through her hair, Lola shakes her head, "You're not really here."

"Are you forgetting everything that happened to you? To Hope? They think you're a monster!" The Whittaker witch begins to raise her voice, not giving up on what she has started. She appears in front of Lola, moving her niece's hands away from herself and making her look towards Cora, "They all say you have a darkness, Charlotte!"

Lola pushes Cora away from herself, taking a step back. A hint of a smile twitches at the corner of Cora's mouth as she steps closer to Lola, "Prove them right."

"You're not Cora." A breathy, humourless laugh escapes Lola lips. She turns to face the now empty table, "She wouldn't say these things to me."

"Why wouldn't I?" Cora stands on the opposite end of the table, reaching forward and softly placing her hand against Lola's, "We have a plan, Charlotte."

"Right now she won't admit it, but everything Lola said to you is false." Klaus' voice from the courtyard catches Lola's attention, "She adores you as though you're her own blood. You can get through to her more than I."

"In the past, perhaps.." Elijah's voice now comes into play as Lola continues to listen, "In this moment, I believe that only you can understand her grief."

There was a part of Lola that instantly became frustrated at the Mikaelson brothers conversation. Klaus tried to convince Lola that she didn't mean everything she said to Elijah regarding Hope's bedroom and now he is saying the same thing to Elijah; disregarding how Lola actually felt. Almost as though it was criminal for how Lola felt, that her feeling betrayed by one of the closest people to her was inexcusable.

"They're holding you back, my sweet girl." Cora stands beside Lola, pulling her hair back off her shoulder. Taking hold of her nieces hands, she turns Lola to face her, "You know what you need to do in order to finish what we've planned."

Lola swallows harshly, lowering her head to hide the tears pooling in the corner of her eyes as she nods. She never wanted to end up like this. She felt proud that throughout her entire vampirism she had never switched her emotions off and fought through all the pain that was thrown at her. But everyone reaches their limits.

Softly placing her hand against Lola's cheek, Cora matches the same saddened look in her eyes as her niece but is complimented with a warm smile, "Turn it off, my darling. It will be okay."

Cora takes a step back, watching as Lola wipes away the stray tears that have fallen. Shoulders are broad as she turns herself to face the table once more before slowly closing her eyes. It finally caught up with her, the looming darkness that cast over her entire life. You can't run away from fate.

โ€”โœคโ€”

Something dark and evil had awakened. It was always going to be inevitable this was the twist that'd happen in this story. A woman who got tired of holding back the darkness and allowing it to take over what used to be pure. A man whose madness makes him who he is. Two broken souls, scarred with the wounds from their demons. So broken that they'd use their darkness and madness against the other. Not caring about any repercussions that would come with it.

Clasping the pearl necklace that once belonged to her aunt, Lola stares at herself through the mirror. Remembering the times throughout her life it felt like she was staring back at a broken soul. Beaten down by those that were against her, feeling as though there could be no light at the end of the tunnel. She would often wonder what it would feel like to not see the same broken soul until this exact moment. If she felt anything in this moment, she'd feel rejuvenated as though the emptiness behind her eyes was like fresh air.

Her attention then goes to the reflection in the corner of the mirror, seeing an unconscious Klaus on the hardwood floors behind her. It would be a lie if the thought of breaking his neck hadn't crossed Lola's mind many times before throughout the years they've known each other.

The sound of Klaus' phone going off in his pocket draws Lola's attention. She crouches down beside him, taking it out to see Elijah attempting to call him. She screens the call immediately, sending a decoy text to the elder Mikaelson.

Just as she grabs hold of Damon's leather jacket, she can hear Klaus' heart slowly starting to beat again. She contemplates for a moment; she would easily have left the compound before Klaus fully awakens so that wouldn't have been an issue. With pursed lips she looks down at the hybrid who is slowly becoming conscious before clicking her tongue stepping closer to him. She presses down her heel onto his back and with slightly pressure she hears his spine snapping beneath her foot.

The sun is just beginning to set when she steps out of the compound, crowds bustling down the streets of the Quarter. Emotions or no emotions, she was seeing her plan through which meant she needed to head to the cauldron.

As Lola turns on her heel to walk down the street, a tall built stature almost purposely bumps into her. His hands go against her arms as he laughs, "Easy, darling." The brunette gentleman's roguish grin is met with a scowl from Lola before he raises his hands up in surrender, "My fault. I wasn't watching where I was going."

Lola fights the urge of rolling her eyes, it was suffocating enough living with men who had atypical accents and now there is another bumping into her, "Clearly." She steps to the side about to walk away until he steps in front, blocking her way. Her eyes darken, glaring up at him, "Seriously?"

"You're a feisty one, aren't you?" A low rumbled chuckle escapes him before reaching into his pocket, holding up a red apple, "Here. Take this as an apology."

The heretic wears no expression glancing between the fruit in the stranger's hand and the teasing expression he wears, "You barge into me then expect me to take an apple as an apology?"

"Well you know what they say." The corner of the man's lips twitch into a smirk, shrugging his shoulders as he throws the apple from one hand to the other, "An apple a day can keep certain pests at bay."

There was something that tugged inside of Lola's chest at that last sentence, having a feeling of familiarity to it. She shakes the thought out of her mind, not bothering to say anything else to the man before she pushes past him and continues to walk down the street.

The man watches leaning against the brick wall as he chuckles before taking a bite out of the apple, "I'll see you again soon, Lottie."

โ€”โœคโ€”

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" A conflicted expression spreads across the red headed witch, leaning against the bar watching as her friend raids through the various bottles of liquor.

"Fred fired me for no fucking reason, Rosie." The brunette witch rolls her eyes before pushing a shot of vodka towards her friend, "I'm taking the bonus he promised me in the form of vodka. Drink up."

A bellowing voice who is cheering to himself makes Rosie jump, "You're so jumpy, babe!" The muscular brunette man starts laughing before he wraps his arms around his girlfriend's waist, "Live a little. You only live once, right? Come on." The man picks up Rosie, throwing her over his shoulder making her scream, "Lets get this party started."

The brunette witch laughs as she watches her two friends go into the back room and within seconds the mains lights go out, red ambient lighting is switched on as well as music so loud it makes the walls vibrate.

She crouches down behind the bar, knowing a small cupboard in the corner is where her boss always kept the expensive alcohol hidden until she hears the door opening, "Sorry, we're closed."

"Oh, don't worry I don't want anything..I was just wanting to return something."

The brunette scoffs to herself, not even bothering to stand up, "This is a bar, hun. We don't do returns."

"I'm pretty sure you'd want this one."

The feminine voice felt familiar to the brunette, not able to quite piece together why it did. Rolling her eyes she comes to her feet, "Like I just said, thisโ€”"

Her eyes are wide, heart practically stops within her chest when she sees Lola leaning against the bar in front of her wearing a sinister smile, "Hello, Barbara.." She twists the pocket knife around her fingers, "I believe I stole this from you, remember?"

"Shitโ€”"

The witch's entire body gets a wave of adrenaline as she sprints straight towards the exit but is beat to the door by Lola who continues to wear the same grin. The witch screams, falling to the floor pushing herself backwards as Lola steps closer, "Last time I saw you..I was stuck in some dusty ass tomb and you acted like you were better than me."

"Vido." Lola brings her hand towards her making the witch get pulled right to Lola's feet. She gestures her hand in the air making the witch come to her feet, gripping hold of her throat as she can feel her windpipe getting crushed, "Why don't we pick up where we left off?"

"Jesus, do you want the music any louder, Lucy?" A new, male voice comes into play as he steps into the bar, the main door slamming shut behind him, "I thought we were going to be discreet about this? This is just going to bring in the wrong type ofโ€”"

The man's blood runs cold through his body when he looks up to see Lola slowly turning to face him and Lucy behind her looking terrified, "Isaac, run!"

Lola vamp speeds to Isaac, her hand grips around his throat as she pushes him against the wall, "No, Isaac, stay."

The giggling couple, Sebastian and Rosie walk out of the back room, their smiles instantly drop when they see the scene in front of them. Lola can't help but chuckle seeing all the horrified expressions on every single one of them, "This is going to be fun."

โ€”โœคโ€”

There's a serendipity involved in finding a platonic soulmate if we let the world unfold as it should. Ironically, the moment we aren't looking is usually when someone comes into our lives and shakes our shit up in a way we've never known. Souls are brought together at times in our lives when we need them most without even realising. It felt comfortable from the second that Elijah had met Lola, it was as though they were old friends reconnecting once again for the first time in years. It always felt right between the two.

They understood each other's humour, sometimes more than anyone else. They would know exactly what the other would be thinking just by a micro-expression that would flash across their face in less than a second. They'd know if the other was in pain and they would know the exact moment they would approach the topic but then know perfectly well when to give the other the space they needed. This was another one of this instances.

Elijah was fighting every being in his body to not go out into the night and look for Lola. He despised the part of himself that brought Lola to this exact moment, the regret became overpowering in regards to him emptying Hope's bedroom. In the moment of him doing so, he thought it may have helped the grieving couple. Walking past their daughter's empty bedroom everyday must of been a harrowing feeling and that was Elijah's attempt at making the situation just that little bit better but it backfired.

He wanted to fix his past mistakes but felt completely lost on how to start. He gets brought out of his thoughts when Klaus begins to wake, "Marvellous, you've finally woken." He lowers the book in his hand, looking down at his younger brother who slowly comes to his feet, "I assume this was Charlotte's doing?"

"No, I decided to have a nap on the hardwood floors." Klaus quips in an unamused, blunt tone before glaring towards Elijah, "Of course it was Lola! Where is she?"

"If I knew that then I wouldn't be here, brother." Elijah sighs as he comes to his feet, fastening his suit jacket before holding his phone out in front of Klaus, "You know how cunning Charlotte can be at times." Klaus frowns, glancing between the phone and his brother before taking it.

[Klaus:]
Speaking to Lola and making progress. Keep yourself at bay for the time being.

The hybrid's nostrils flare, jaw tightens as annoyance covers his entire face, "And you believed this?"

"Did I believe that you were attempting to figure out some kind of peace with the mother of your child, yes I did." Elijah flashes a forced smile before taking his phone out of Klaus' hold, "Call me optimistic."

"Let me get this straight." Klaus drawls out, his hands come together pressing against his lips before a humourless laughter escapes, "Lola convinces you that we needed to talk. But before that she decided to snap my neck. She then leaves the compound going god knows where, doing god knows whatโ€”" He points in his brother's direction, narrowing a glare that is fully of irritation, "And you thought it appropriate to just sit and wait for me to wake up?"

"Where would you have liked me to look, Niklaus?" Elijah's voice rises just as his annoyance rises, he holds his hands out gesturing around himself, "It is very clear that she has no desire in being in the same room as myself."

"Because you know what to say to her!" Klaus snaps, "Lola avoiding you is just because she knows she cannot keep up this faรงade around you, brother!" A long, heavy sigh escapes his lips, his shoulders sink as he thinks back to earlier moments before Lola broke his neck, "There was this look in her eyes. I fear she has done what we have both been dreading for the past four months."

As of right then, all that mattered to both Mikaelson brothers was finding Lola. Klaus was always willing to do whatever it takes when it came to the life he shared with Lola and this has only intensified it. He had never met a woman who understood his odd heart, but she recognised each peculiar beat; for her strange heart was also unique. Klaus took pride in being able to see some things the same way Lola did, which makes him know what his next move is.

The older Mikaelson watches as Klaus storms towards the built in bookcase within the room, throwing books onto the floor. Elijah narrows a raised brow in that direction as he steps closer, "What are you doing?"

"A hundred years ago," Klaus steps back, gesturing to the hidden compartment, "Lola used this clever hidden part of the bookcase for her trusted antiques." He reaches into it, grabbing hold of the same emerald box that Lola placed in there only a few hours prior, "Now, it's for other things."

Klaus steps to the empty table in the middle of the room, he attempts to remove the lid until he realises there is a small padlock against the clasp. Elijah rolls his eyes watching as Klaus easily snaps the padlock off, "Don't you think if it's locked then there's a reason for that, Niklaus?"

Klaus purses his lips, shrugging his shoulders not looking one bit bothered at him breaking into something, "If Lola didn't want me to find out what's inside then she'd have locked it with a spell."

"Or perhaps she used a lock and key for the exact reason it was created." Elijah clears his throat, attempting to refrain himself from rolling his eyes once more, "To keep pests out."

He approaches the bar, pouring himself a rather large glass of scotch until the sudden silence within the room turns his vexation into worry. Turning on his heel he sees Klaus almost frozen, staring down at the opened up box, "What is it?"

"I need to find her." Klaus looks down at the floor before vamp speeding out of the room, slamming the door shut behind himself. Elijah stares at the now shut door for a few moments before stepping to the opened box and what he sees makes his heart drop for his brother.

Various things that have a poignant relevance to the life Klaus has shared with Lola from things such as his old daylight ring that he wanted Lola to keep as a promise. The diamond bracelet which was the first thing he ever gifted her over a hundred years ago; believing it was lost until they returned here to see it once more. A small black velvet box catches the Original's attention, he sighs deeply when he opens it to see Lola's engagement ring.

Elijah immediately takes out his phone, dialling a certain number instantly. Elijah takes hold of his jacket, heading straight out of the room when the call gets answered, "Something has happened and I need your help. Where are you?"

โ€”โœคโ€”

Lola Salvatore was never one to have a lot of patience, despite shutting her emotions off she still felt this way. She soon grown tired of even just hearing Lucy's breathing before she grabbed a fistful of the brunette's hair before sinking her teeth into Lucy's neck, draining her of all her blood. As she drops now lifeless Lucy to the ground, she swipes away the small drop of blood at the corner of her mouth. All three other witches watch in horror, each terrified on whether they will be next.

Rosie's eyes shift down to her dead best friend, tears are streaming down her face and her entire body is trembling. She attempts as leaning forward in her seat but the ropes tightly around her pull her straight back, "You are pure evil."

The heretic's face is as cold as stone, not showing one ounce of empathy staring back at the grieving witch, "Am I supposed to fall to the floor in shock at that statement?"

The witch's heart had completely fallen out of her chest, all she could feel was anger that was fuelled by her fear, "You killed my best friend!"

"Oh, don't worry!" Lola laughs, attempting to pretend feeling sincere but her tone is nothing but laced with sarcasm, "You'll see her again..I think." She leans against the bar behind, glancing between all three of them tied up, "I'm just trying to figure out who to kill next."

The three witch's skin has turned grey and dull, each of them having a bite mark on the side of their neck. Each of them beginning to feel dizzy from the blood loss. They all start uncontrollably sobbing, each attempting to break out of the ropes which just drains the little energy they have left more and more.

Lola is unable to fight back her laughter, hopping onto the edge of the bar. Her smile is wide and evil as she tilts her head gesturing to them all, "You guys are really playing your part well. I almost feel bad for you." She purses her lips as she shrugs, bringing her hand up, bringing her index finger and thumb close together, "Almost."

"Please," Isaac's voice turns into a whisper, feeling himself slowly slipping into unconsciousness. His vision is becoming blurry, looking over to where Lola sits leaning behind the bar and taking hold a bottle of wine, "Just let us go."

Lola frowns towards the blonde witch, "Why would I do that?" Her stare becomes narrowed, pointing the bottle of wine towards them all, "This is the most fun I've had in months because of everything your coven did." Crossing her leg against the other, she snaps the neck of the wine bottle off with ease before pouring herself a glass when she feels a new presence enter the bar, "Nik!" Her back is to the door but instantly able to recognise the new presence as Klaus. She looks over to him standing in the doorway as she brings the glass towards her lips, "Finally!"

The hem of the black satin dress just resting half way up Lola's hips catch Klaus' attention first. His eyes can't help but wonder along her tanned, toned legs. He can feel his mouth drying up noticing how tight the dress is, hugging parts of Lola's body so perfectly.

He looks to an empty part of the room, swallowing hard to stop himself from fumbling, "What are you doing?"

"I'm hosting a blood tasting." A hint of a smile graces Lola's lips as she gestures towards the three tied up witches, "Come and sample them." She catches the frustrated look in Klaus' eyes that makes her breathe in sharply, "Oh, I know what you're thinking. The music, right?"

She gestures to the speakers that are loudly playing Killer Queen, "See, normally I would avoid listening to this band when you're around because then you'll get all petty and childish because of my little fling with the drummer. But then I realised.." She covers her mouth, unable to stop herself from laughing, "I really don't care if you have a stick up your ass about that."

Lola can see Klaus' shoulders begin to tense, growing more and more irritated before he takes hold of the bottle of wine throwing it against the speaker on the opposite side of the room. Silence overcomes the entire room, all that they can hear are the quiet cries from the witches.

Lola's lips are purses, looking down at the glass in her hand before she gasps dramatically, "Wooow, that was rude."

Klaus' jaw tightens as he steps closer to the part of the bar where Lola sits, "You broke my neck."

"Then I also snapped your spine with my foot." Lola shrugs nonchalant, receiving a glare back off Klaus which makes her scoff, "What? You were starting to wake up before I left. Why do you look so surprised?" A hint of a smirk twitches at the corner of her lips as she leans closer to him, "This is what you wanted, right? Me being a vampire again?" Her hand grazes along Klaus chest, the feel of her touch feels like fire against his skin. She wraps his necklace around her fingers, twisting them around as her tone softens, "Your talk with me didn't work as well as you may have hoped. Or how Elijah would have hoped."

Klaus breathes in sharply, taking in the intoxicating jasmine and vanilla scent against Lola's skin. He can feel himself being pulled closer and closer to her always finding it impossible to resist. He catches Lola's gaze that sparkles with tease knowing how close Klaus is to completely giving in.

He harshly swallows the lump in his throat before moving Lola's hand away from him and then gestures to the tied up trio, "Care to explain what thought process you're going through?"

"I'm glad you asked, my love." Lola straightens herself up, clasping her hands together before hopping off the counter, "Let's go through what my thought process is."

She slowly drags her hand across Isaac's shoulder blades making him shudder in fear, "See, as much as I loved ripping Francesca's throat out and watched as that really annoying spark drain from her eyes; I realised her blood was really bitter." She steps back, raising her hands to the side looking between the witches in front of her, "So, I figured let's find someone else and where better to start other than the cauldron? Would you believe it if I said they were all different blood groups?"

Klaus' eyes flutter between the witches all shaking with fear and Lola's stone cold face as she continues, "I thought it was quite smart to create my own kind of wine tasting but with blood. I haven't been a vampire for over a year now and I was concerned my preferred blood type may have changed. So, here we are."

She rips off the ropes around Isaac with ease before taking a fist full of his collar bringing him to his feet, "Isaac over here is O-positive: bland, boring and basic." Without hardly any pressure she snaps his neck, throwing his limp body onto the floor.

The two remaining watch in horror, screaming out watching another one of their friends being killed at the hands of Lola. Sebastian's eyes shut tightly when he feels Lola stepping behind him, flinching when he feels the ropes around him being snapped off, "Then you have Sebastian who is A-positive.." Lola pulls him to his feet, her eyes not leaving where Klaus stands, "Used to be my favourite but I found it quite mediocre." She adds pressure to the middle of Sebastian's spine as he screams out in pain which suddenly stops when it's greeted with a loud crack.

Rosie closes her eyes, looking away from her boyfriend's corpse being thrown against Isaac's. A stifled gasp is mixed with her cries when she feels Lola's hand slowly pull back her hair from her neck, "Now Rosie is O-negative.." Lola takes a step back before kicking one of the legs of the chair, causing the entire chair to break beneath Rosie. The red headed witch attempts to pull herself away until Lola harshly kicks her stomach making her look up towards Lola as she presses her foot against Rosie's neck, "A little bit more rare but I felt like it was missing something."

The young witch gasps for breath, her eyes are wide and lips slowly begin to turn blue as Lola crushes her windpipe. Klaus' brows furrow slightly taking a step forward when his voice turns stern, "Lola."

"What?" Klaus' concerned expression is greeted with a cold glare from Lola who continues to apply pressure against the witch's throat. She gestures down at the witch wriggling beneath her. "Go ahead, stop me."

There was a part of Klaus that wanted to stop Lola from this, it didn't feel right to him. They have both done a lot of dark things throughout their life and one thing he wanted most was to stop that. He knew the guilt Lola would feel after this and yet he stays in his same spot, not moving a muscle.

Lola chuckles to herself, "I didn't think so." Lola harshly presses her foot down against Rosie's throat when she can hear the witch's neck breaking. The tensed up witch under her hold becomes limp, eyes turn dull staring up.

The heretic straightens up her dress as she steps over the now dead red head and steps closer to the brunette, Lucy, slumped in the corner surrounded in a pool of her own blood, "Down to my favourite one, the lovely Lucy."

Tilting her head slightly, Lola looks down at the deceased, her foot kicks her slightly, "Lucy and I have crossed paths many times before, one of the first was when she decided to join in on the threats against me and our child. She was one of the witches that held me captive in the cemetery for days, thinking she was better than me." Lola lowers herself, her hand glides across her bite mark on the witch, "I know how much you love B-negative but truth be told.." She looks over to Klaus as she smirks, licking the blood from her finger, "She tasted too good to keep waiting."

Klaus steps closer to the heretic with a narrowed brow as she comes to her feet, "What game are you playing?"

"Why?" Lola's lips twitch up into a smirk, her hands goes against Klaus' jacket pulling him closer, "Do you want to play with me?"

Klaus looks away for a small moment as a low rumbled chuckle escapes him before leaning closer to Lola, "How can I when I don't know the rules?"

"The rules are there are no rules." Her hands move up from his jacket to the sides of Klaus' face, her lips practically touching his, "That's what makes it so fun." She can tell Klaus is attempting to act like this doesn't intrigue him which makes her want to bite further. She sighs, moving away from him and stepping closer to the bar, "You're still feeling conflicted, huh? It doesn't matter." Taking hold of her half full glass of wine, she turns to face him again, "How you woke up earlier shows I don't need you to go through with this. It means nothing to me whether you stay or leave, I'm doing this either way."

As the Salvatore brings the glass to her lips, Klaus takes hold of her wrist directing her towards the door, "I'm taking you home."

"No," Lola's tone turns harsh, pulling herself away from him. She throws the glass in her hand against the door, "You're not."

Klaus has his back to her, he closes his eyes are he takes a deep breath before turning around to face her. His eyes darken, closing the gap between them, "Don't make me say it again."

"I'm taking you home." Lola frowns, pursing her lips as she mimics an accent similar to Klaus before she smiles, "Right?"

"I know this side of me excites you, Nik." She dragged his name out without the same sincerity she always used. Instead it was in a mocking type of way yet made Klaus feel himself pull closer to her, "You can't deny it, it's written all over your face and I can hear your heart racing." She leans closer to him, allowing her lips to brush against the side of his face making Klaus close his eyes attempting to control himself, "It feeds the darkest desires in your mind. All you have to do is let go..." She takes a step back from him, the corner of her plump lips twitch up as she takes in his flustered appearance before swiping her finger across the bloodied neck of Lucy, "And join me."

She had Klaus exactly where she wanted him, ready to fall to his knees in front of her and giving in to temptation; it was inevitable. She slowly brings up her index finger, covered in blood towards Klaus' lips before he harshly grabs hold of her wrist. Through hooded eyes, she looks at her wrist in Klaus' grasp before back at him when his eyes darken with desire, slowly closing the gap between them both. Her soul was a kaleidoscope, bursting with every shade and hue. But as Klaus shifts his gaze ever so slightly, Lola was something entirely different and it already felt addictive.

Hand still wrapped around Lola's wrist, he pulls her towards him pressing her body against his as he crashes his lips against hers. His hands grip against her waist as hers grasp the sides of his face. Klaus' hands move up from Lola's waist to her shoulders, harshly pulling the leather jacket off her dropping it to the floor.

The hybrid vamp speeds them against the wall, Lola's back hitting against the cold concrete. The pair break away for less than a second, catching the lust in each other's eyes before slamming their lips against the other once again. Their kisses become more passionate, his tongue explores every crevice of her mouth as Lola grabs his jacket, tugging it down his arms.

Klaus' hands explore Lola's curves before his fingers dig into her hips, lifting her up as she wraps her legs around his waist pulling him closer. Their lips don't break apart as Klaus carries her to the nearest table. His knee parts Lola's legs, opening them before stepping closer and pressing himself against her inner thighs.

Lola tightens her legs around Klaus, pulling him even closer to her as her hands drag down his abdomen ending at his jeans as she begins to unzip them. Klaus latches his lips against the nape of Lola's neck, hand pulling down the thin strap of her dress and leaving kisses against where it once was, "You drive me crazy."

A small gasp escapes Lola's mouth as she feels Klaus hands pulling her dress up her thighs, his fingers wrap around her underwear gliding them down her legs. His hands slowly glide back up Lola's legs as they don't break eye contact. His hands grip against Lola's hips as she leans herself closer to him. Their noses brush against each other as Klaus moves back slightly before he smirks crashing his lips against her once again. They gasp into each other's mouths as Klaus' grip tightens against Lola's hips, pushing himself inside of her.

The heretic curses under her breath, tightening herself around him as his hips smashed into hers. She arches her back, pressing herself against him even more with her head thrown back. One hand remains against Lola's hips and the other finds a home against the back of Lola's neck.

Klaus can feel her walls clenching around him, close to climax which makes him pound in her faster; feeling himself getting closer and closer. Klaus knew Lola well, he knew when she was close. The way the ins of her brows would pull upwards as her legs start to shake,

"Do it." His voice becomes raspy and demanding before pressing his lips against Lola's in an electrifying kiss, mouths moving in unison. Her walls clenched even tighter around him, arching her back against him as a loud moan escapes her lips. Their sweat and moans mix together perfectly as they both came simultaneously. Klaus slows down, resting his forehead against Lola's as each other catches their breath. He smirks, running his hand through Lola's hair, "That's my girl."

Elijah crouches down beside one of the deceased witches within the cauldron bar. His hand goes against her face, turning it to the side to see the deep bite mark against it before he sighs coming to his feet.

"Okay, so I spoke to the police.." Adrianna's voice comes into play as she opens the door into the bar, Elijah could hear the distance sounds of the police radios until the door shuts behind the vampire, "Robbing gone wrong. That's what it's going down as."

Hands against her hips, Adrianna stands beside Elijah looking down the witches' corpses, "Hey, here's a question." Adrianna's tone is high pitched and preppy bringing Elijah out of his thoughts, "What the fuck are we doing?"

Elijah turns in his spot, raising an inquisitive brow towards Adrianna, "Meaning?"

"Well.." Adrianna throws her hands up before hitting them against her sides, "We've been looking all night for them and they're nowhere to be found. But what happens if we do find them, what then?"

"I am grateful for your help, Adrianna. This is why I called you last night, however.."

"No." Adrianna points towards the Original, glaring at him already knowing what he is about to say, "She is my best friend, Elijah. I need to help her. I know how reckless Lola and Klaus can be, I am not phased by it at all."

"You've seen them both act reckless individually, Adrianna. You have not seen how ruthless they are as a pair. This." Elijah steps back, gesturing to the four deceased witches from last night with an additional four slumped in the corner, "This is just a preview of how ruthless they can be. Where's Nathaniel? Scott?"

"Nate is out looking in the places we haven't look." Adrianna clears her throat, looking away from Elijah, "Scott is around somewhere, I don't know."

No one besides Scott and Cami know about the couple adopting Ophelia, which is exactly where Scott is right now; looking after her. There hasn't been an appropriate time for this kind of announcement and Adrianna feels as though it will never be appropriate until Lola is back to who she always was. But it doesn't stop the guilt eating away at the vampire.

Elijah's hand goes against Adrianna's shoulder, making her jump out of her thoughts, "Call Nathaniel. Both of you go home. I'll deal with this myself."

Meanwhile, at Adrianna and Nate's apartment, Scott walks out of Ophelia's bedroom with her in his arms. He sways side to side as he steps into the living room, humming to a nursery rhymes, "So, little Lia it's just you and me." With one arm wrapped around the infant, the other picks up her favourite stuffed animal, throwing it in the air slightly before holding it out in front of her, "I know you're refusing to nap because you've got the fear of missing out. Don't worry, kid, I'm the same. Let's see. What shall we do?"

Scott clicks his tongue as he looks around the room before his eyes catch the table full of frames photographs, "Oh. Look at this." He picks up one frame, holding it out in front of him, "This is your aunt Hayley. Don't tell her but she sorta scares me. But hey, she's a hybrid."

He looks down at Ophelia in his arms, too busy chewing on the bear which makes Scott shake his head placing the frame back onto the table, "You don't need to know what a hybrid is. Despite her sometimes scaring the bejesus out of me from time to time, she's a good person. Amazing person. When the time is right she will be able to tell you so many stories about your ancestor's history." Unknown to Scott, Cami silently walks into the apartment, her attention going straight to him. A soft smile immediately graces her lips watching as Scott bounces slightly in his spot holding onto Ophelia.

"And this.." Scott drags out, picking up a framed photograph of Adrianna and Lola, "Is your aunt Lola. I already know she's going to be your favourite." His gaze softens, seeing the beaming smiles the duo has in the photo, "She's my favourite and you've got great taste like your uncle Scotty. I can tell." He gestures a brow towards the infant in his arms before placing the photograph back onto the table, "Sheโ€”"

A harsh lump forms in Scott's throat as his eyes spot one photograph in particular. He's never seen a smile so bright on Lola's face before as she sits on Adrianna's couch with Adrianna's hand against Lola's heavily pregnant stomach. Over Scott's shoulder, Cami sees the photograph the ripper is holding which makes her heart drop. It was so obvious how much all of them were missing Lola, feeling like a part of their family was missing.

Scott clears his throat, blinking away the pools of tears that started to form, "Your aunt Lola is going through something right now and she's hurting. Understandably. And we all miss her a lot. But we love her regardless of what she might do during this time." Scott smiles down at the table, glancing between the various framed photographs, thinking back to each and every memory, "She'll be back, I have faith. Then no doubt she will take my title of your favourite person."

The sound of Cami's heels bring Scott out of his thoughts, he turns to see her smiling towards him, "I'm pretty confident to say that I have already took that title from you." She gasps softly, reaching out to picking Ophelia out of Scott's arms, "Hey, baby girl." She holds the infant up in the air before pressing a kiss against her cheek. Resting Ophelia against her hip, Cami sends a teasing look towards the ripper, "Lets be honest, I've always had that title."

"That was...rude." Scott mumbles under his breath. He exhales heavily, shoving his hands into his pockets. His smile beams towards the O'Connell, "Uh, how've you been? How's Marcel?"

"You going to ask about his abs again?" Cami quips as she lowers Ophelia into her play pen. She nods to herself as she stands up straight, "It's fine. I, uh- I ended things with him."

Scott tried his hardest to not look pleased about that announcement. Not that he had anything against Marcel, he liked the guy. His gaze softens, seeing that Cami is trying not to look like breaking things off with Marcel hasn't affected her, "You okay?" He locks eyes with Cami, immediately becoming flustered. A nervous laugh falls from his lips as he shakes his head, "We don't have to talk about it. It's none of my business."

"No, it's okay." Running a hand through her blonde, curled locks Cami laughs softly, "I've been trying my best to keep myself out of all of this supernatural stuff but it seems like it's always going to be in my life. Especially when my best friends are all vampires. But, uh, I just figured maybe not having supernatural drama in my love life would be the best thing."

"Right." Scott breathes out. He frowns to himself realising he sounded more saddened by that than he intended. He flashes a warm smile before clearing his throat, "That's probably a good idea."

Cami watches as Scott avoids looking in her direction, instead looking down at Ophelia peacefully playing, "What about you?" Scott looks back in Cami's direction as she crosses her arms against her chest, resting against the wall beside her, "If there is please make sure she isn't some psychotic witch back from the dead. That would really dampen the mood."

"Well.." The ripper could feel the heat rising up to his cheeks before he laughs looking away and shaking his head, "Forget it. It doesn't matter."

"Of course it does." As Cami takes hold of Scott's hand, she can feel him tense up. She ignores the almost butterfly feeling twirling around in the pit of her stomach, "Come on, you can tell me. Is there someone?"

Scott swallows hard, softly removing his hand out of Cami's grasp, "There was a part of me hoping there would be." His stare softens, looking over to Cami, the smile on his face is so faint yet so prominent, "But she just said she doesn't want any supernatural drama."

"We're home!" Nate shouts out as both he and Adrianna walk through the door, not realising the moment they just barged in on, "Where's my girl?" Nate's smile beams looking across the living room to see Ophelia smiling back towards her parents, "There she is!"

Nate lifts her up in the air, making the infant giggle before pressing a kiss against her cheek. Adrianna leans closer to Ophelia, pressing a kiss on her other cheek before looking over to Scott looking awkward and Cami who's face has been drained from all it's colour, "Everything okay?"

โ€”โœคโ€”

Klaus steps into the adjoined living room attached to his and Lola's bedroom before closing the sliding door behind himself. As he steps towards the bar he puts on a shirt, unable to wipe the smirk that hasn't left his face since last night. He had never seen Lola like that last night and it was a feeling he would never tire of.

Two glasses are filled with red wine before Klaus adds in the key ingredient, blood. He feels a presence enter the room, knowing it's Elijah, "Lola was onto something about this little concoction. It definitely satisfies one's needs." He swirls the two glasses around in his hand, turning to face Elijah who wears a displeased glare. Klaus pushes himself off the bar, rolling his eyes, "I sense a lecture brewing, brother."

"There wouldn't be a lecture if the two of you didn't act so reckless." The older Original takes his phone out of his suit jacket, holding it up as Klaus stands beside him, "How many bodies can you see in this photograph, Niklaus?"

With the two glasses of wine still in his hand, he stares down blankly at the photo of various dead witches and Elijah's annoyed glare, "Have you styled your hair with so much product that the fumes have altered your ability to count?"

Klaus chuckles to himself, placing the two glasses on the coffee table before sitting on the couch just as Lola opens up the double doors. She scoffs at Elijah's presence who looks away from the heretic noting the short black slip she is wearing, black satin robe hanging off her shoulders, "Should've guessed as soon as skin was showing you'd turn up in here." She purses her lips standing in front of Elijah, looking him up and down, "If I didn't know any better I'd think this is what gets you excited underneath that suit of yours, Elijah."

Klaus leans forward on the couch, taking hold of Lola's hand before pulling her closer to him. She sits beside him, her bare legs go across his lap. Lola takes hold of both wine glasses, passing one over to Klaus before his other hand goes against her leg, softly gliding it up and down.

"Eight." Elijah slams his phone onto the coffee table in front of the couple before he starts pacing, "There are eight dead witches. Then there is also another six dotted around this very compound. Any inkling on how that may have happened?"

Klaus shrugs his shoulders, sinking further into the couch, "Perhaps it was an animal attack."

Elijah cocks his head to the side, an unamused breath escapes his lips as he grows more and more irritated, "Prey tell what animal that may be?"

"A coyote." Lola sits up straight, clapping her hands together, "Oh, I know! A mountain lion."

The older Mikaelson stops pacing, coming to a halt and narrowing a brow towards the heretic, "And what exactly would a mountain lion be doing in Louisiana?"

Smugness covers Klaus' entire face, bringing the wine glass towards his lips, "Mardi Gras."

Lola's lips form a thin line, attempting to hold back laughter before she clears her throat, "Or maybe it wanted to come and check none of it's kind had been killed once all the animals got their warning email that Stefan was in town."

She receives an unamused glare from Elijah and a quiet chuckle from Klaus beside her. She points towards Elijah, "You know, Elijah, if you loosen that collar then maybe more oxygen will go to your brain, activating your funny side."

"I know the two of you are dealing with unimaginable pain right now but may I suggest..." Elijah stops in his speech, looking over to the couple when Klaus starts whispering to Lola, "Would you at least have the decency to listen to me!?"

"Hold on." Lola twists around on the couch, now facing forward. Her back is straight before she dramatically clears her throat, holding her hand up, "I'm just trying to switch on my I give a shit attitude." Her shoulders slump as she sinks further into the couch wearing a false pet lip, "I think it's gone."

Klaus hums in fake sadness, "That's a shame." His smirk is soon wiped off his face as he looks up towards his older brother who gives him a knowing stare. Knowing exactly what it means, Klaus rolls his eyes before leaning to the side of Lola's face, whispering to her. Lola hadn't removed her glare from Elijah as Klaus whisper until she frowns looking to the hybrid before he nods, "I'll be in shortly."

The heretic hesitates for a moment, glancing between both Mikaelsons before she slowly comes to her feet. She steps towards their bedroom before turning around, "Hey, on the plus side, Elijah, you can start telling people we're trying again."

Elijah shoves his hand into his pocket, looking down at the ground as he sighs. They brothers stay silent until they can hear the shower turning on within the couple's bedroom. Elijah looks over to Klaus, glaring at him, "You took her on a witch hunt."

"Well, if we're being technical Lola had already started her little witch massacre." Klaus brings his feet up, resting them against the coffee table as he shrugs, "I just figured what would be the harm in joining her to put an end to the witches who tried to kill our child."

"You were supposed to bring her out of this, Niklaus!" Elijah snaps in a harsh, yet hushed tone, "Not make her even more chaotic than she already is! What did you hope to gain by going on a reckless murdering spree all night!?"

Klaus aggressively slams his glass onto the coffee table before coming to his feet, "How about that it was the first night that I haven't had to hold Lola while she cried herself to sleep. Or that she hasn't pretended to be asleep when in fact she couldn't because all she could hear was my screams for her or our daughter's cry as we took her out of her mother's arms!" His eyes darken with rage as he steps closer to his brother, "Or perhaps that it was the first night where the last image in my mind wasn't Lola dead, covered in her own blood!"

He pushes past Elijah as he shakes his head, "You didn't see her, Elijah. Covered in witch's blood, smiling ear to ear. She enjoyed it!"

"It's not genuine, Niklaus!" Elijah laughs in an exasperated manner, "Charlotte's emotions are off so you cannot then say to me that she felt anything. You do realise that everything she felt for you is no longer there either?"

"She's still in there." The rage that was all over Klaus' face just moments before is replaced with a small amount of hope, "I don't believe that Lola has in fact done the full switch off. The Salvatore family can be annoyingly cunning when it comes to the no humanity scenario, often it's more of a dimmer switch."

Elijah can understand the hesitation coming from his brother to admit what is happening right in front of him. The woman he loves is no longer that same woman whose laugh would fill a dark and cold room with so much light and so much warmth. The woman who would be there for anyone who needed her, no matter what. She wears strength and darkness equally well, deep down she has always been half goddess and half hell.

"Regardless," Elijah drags out, "She is growing more and more savage. Can you not see this is because she is falling apart?"

"Maybe she realised how dull it was to try and live up to your high standards." Klaus' expression turns cold, eyes full of darkness towards Elijah, "I know I have."

"We're not doing it on your terms anymore. Go to the bayou, find Hayley." Elijah demands in a sharp tone, "At least attempt at helping one person today instead of guiding them down a dark path. I'll speak to Charlotte."

โ€”โœคโ€”

As Klaus walked into the bathroom, he expected to be greeted by Lola in the shower waiting for him. However, as he steps into the bathroom, Lola is standing by the vanity, leaning over it as she applies make up.

He steps behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist, "What happened to the shower?"

"I got bored of waiting." Lola stands up straight, staring at him through the mirror, blankly, "I'm sure you know how to shower yourself."

"What would be the point in that?" Klaus' hands graze along Lola's waist, he doesn't break eye contact while he unties the satin robe against Lola. His lips brush against the side of her face as his voice becomes low and raspy, "I'd much rather have company in there." His hands slowly come up to Lola's shoulders, pushing the robe off her body, leaving her in just her black, laced lingerie. His hand trails down her bare stomach, hand skims across the edging her underwear, "I know you would too."

Lola pushes Klaus' hands away from her, stepping away from him, "I would say I'm sorry to disappoint you but then that would make me a liar."

Klaus frowns, following Lola as she walks into their bedroom. He watches as she begins to get dressed, "What's with the sudden change of attitude, love?"

"Why don't you ask Elijah?" Lola's tone is blunt, straight to the point as she stares towards the hybrid blankly as she fastens her jeans, "You both love to talk about me so go ahead."

The shit-eating grin is wiped from Klaus' face almost instantly, mentally kicking himself regarding his earlier conversation. Of course Lola was listening in on it, absolutely typical.

"You don't want the old me back, Nik." Lola's hands go against Klaus' chest, making him step backwards until he collides with the foot of their bed. Lola steps in between his legs as Klaus sits on the edge, looking up at her in awe. She wraps her arms around his neck, her fingers thread through his short curls, "She was a bore."

Klaus' breath hitches at the back of his throat as Lola's hand slowly moves down his body. She smiles to herself, lowering her lips to the side of his face when she can feel his stiffness through his jeans, "She never got you excited this quickly before."

The hybrid's lips twitch up into a smirk, his hands go against the back of Lola's thighs, lifting her up to straddle him, "You're walking a fine line between being beautifully macabre and uncharacteristically psychotic, my love." He brushes his lips against hers, threading his hands through her honey coloured locks, "I know the real Lola, the Lola I fell in love with and will never fall out of love with, is still in there. She would never truly go away."

Lola presses herself against Klaus' lap, she can feel him taking in her jasmine scent becoming so close to completely folding in front of her once again, "If either of you try and interfere with how I am right now..I won't hesitate in retaliating." Lola's face is stone cold, she wraps her hand around Klaus' neck, pushing his head back slightly, "And I promise you this, Klaus..there isn't anything you could do to bring me back."

Klaus' hand grasps around Lola's wrist, pulling her hand away from his neck before he rushes them full onto the bed, he towers over her with a dominate look in his eyes, "We're at the stage of empty threats now, I see?"

Lola's lips are pursed, fingers twist around his necklaces before pulling him down as their lips practically touch, "Are you willing to risk thinking they're empty threats? I may be your weakness, Klaus.." She stares at his lips that have parted waiting to collide with Lola's, "But you're not mine. Stop wasting your time on trying to fix me because I cannot be fixed."

The smirk against the hybrid's lips doesn't fade as he lowers himself, brushing his lips against Lola's, "I'm not going to give up."

For a small moment, Klaus swears he seen Lola's eyes soften as she places a hand against his cheek. But the small amount of warmth that flashed across her eyes was changed to emptiness, "Then you're a bigger fool than I thought you were."

Lola pushes Klaus off her, climbing off the bed before stepping towards the coat rack, taking hold of a leather jacket. Klaus laughs in a mocking way as he comes to his feet, "You're acting a lot like Damon, you know? Not taking any consideration about anyone else's feelings." Lola turns to face Klaus as he attempts to bite even further, "Acting like you don't care when really you care more than you ever have before."

"Were you expecting a reaction out of me for saying I'm like my brother?" Lola's brows shoot up in a kind of surprise before she scoffs, "My god, you really are that desperate, aren't you?"

Klaus' jaw tightens, closing the gap between himself and Lola not bothering to hide the rage that darkens his eyes, "You're impossible."

Lola remains in her same spot as Klaus pushes past her, storming out of the room making her roll her eyes, "Bye, sweetie!" She calls out for him in a high pitched, mocking voice, "Miss you already!"

โ€”โœคโ€”

Klaus never thought he'd feel positive after spending time in the bayou, but he did. He did what he agreed to do with Elijah which was to find Hayley and make sure she was okay. She was, of course. However, all of the other wolves weren't exactly welcoming to the two hybrids. He felt positive though, as he walked into the compound, deep down hoping that Elijah had managed a positive outcome in regards to Lola.

However, as Klaus vigorously paces around as Elijah attempts to dial Lola's number for the firth time, he realised he felt positive for no reason whatsoever. Elijah continued to explain to his brother that he genuinely felt like he was getting somewhere with Lola after their conversation today. So he felt just as deflated as Klaus did after returning to the compound to see she was nowhere to be seen. Her phone was gone, her car was gone and no explanation as to where she's gone.

Klaus stops pacing no longer hearing the dialling tone, he gestures to Elijah to hand him the phone. Elijah raises his hand up to stop his brother, "Charlotte, where are you?"

"I just wanted to say thank you for today." Sitting in the driver's seat of her car, Lola stares out in front of her, "It was exactly what I needed and you made me see things at lot clearer."

"Meaning?"

"I can't keep holding onto this anger about everything that's happened. Hope, Damon and everything in between." She adjusts the rear view mirror, looking at herself through it before fixing her hair, "I think I just need some space from the cityโ€”"

Klaus takes hold of Elijah's phone, hearing enough. He storms away from Elijah, holding the phone against himself, "Where do you think you're going?"

"Will you just trust me?" Lola closes her eyes, refraining herself from rolling her eyes, "Stefan is about a hundred miles away from Louisiana, we've talked and I'm on my way to get him then we're going back to Mystic Falls. I can't do anything about Hope so I'm going to get some solace from something else. I figured if I go to the Salvatore crypt and say a proper goodbye to Damon then maybe it will get easier. Then I'm not just spending day and night trying to get through to him."

This was the first step, Klaus thought to himself. The first step to getting Lola back. He exhales a heavy breath, closing his eyes before he nods, "Are you sure this is what you want to do?"

"I'm positive. I'll only be gone a couple days and I'll keep under the radar, I promise." A figure out of the passenger side window catches Lola's attention before taking the key out of the ignition, "I gotta go but I'll call you soon."

Lola shuts off the call before taking a deep breath and stepping out of the car. The distant sounds of airplanes flying above comes into play as she shuts the door behind herself.

"Did they believe you?"

Lola gaze goes towards Stefan who leans against the passenger side, staring out in front of him before looking towards his sister who shrugs her shoulders, "Even if they didn't it doesn't matter. Come on."
