Chapter 12 - Part 2

Casket Girls: Part Two

Lola picks at her nails, pacing around her and Klaus' bathroom, waiting for the bath to fill as Adrianna is on speaker, "What are you talking about a surprise?"

"Surprise means surprise. Ergo, I'm not telling you. I'll text you where to meet in a few hours. Love you."

Lola scoffs as she hangs up the phone, she shuts the faucet off before walking back into their bedroom and throwing her phone onto the bed. She looks towards the doorway to see Klaus leaning against it, "You staying for the show or something?" Lola flashes an annoyed grin, still partly annoyed at Klaus' order to the vampires to kill the wolves, "Because you should know, I'm expensive."

Klaus moves away from the doorway, stepping further into their room, "Elijah found this."

He throws a ring towards Lola, she catches it and looks at it confused, "Am I supposed to know what this is?"

"After you conspired with my brother to protect the wolves and disregarding my order, Elijah came across a wolf who was in possession of this ring." Klaus sighs as he takes the ring from Lola, "That ring once belonged to my mother who then apparently gave it to a wolf she formed a close bond with. My real father."

Lola purses her lips slightly, she shrugs, her face as cold as stone, "Hm, then it's probably a good thing that Rebekah and Elijah stopped your order from happening."

She turns away from Klaus to walk towards the bathroom. Klaus places his hands against Lola's waist to stop her from walking away, pulling her back to him, "Are you still mad at me? Tell me how I can make it up to you."

Klaus pushes Lola's hair away from her neck and begins leaving a trail of kisses down her neck towards her shoulder blade. Lola rolls her eyes, not fazed at Klaus' move, "You'll have to do a lot more than that." She can feel Klaus' smirk against her skin as his hands graze down her body to her the hem of her robe, "Not what I meant." She pushes Klaus away from her as she walks towards the bathroom, "I have to get ready."

"Where are you going?"

"I'm meeting Ade somewhere." Lola shrugs, "It's a surprise apparently."

Klaus vamp speeds in front of Lola, blocking her from walking into the bathroom, "You're not going anywhere, love. You're staying in this compound until I say so."

Lola scoffs, she glares over to him as she shakes her head, "You can't tell me what to do."

"I can when you're carrying my child." Klaus snaps sternly, "It's not safe out there, especially now the little teenage witch is loose."

Lola rolls her eyes, pushing past Klaus to walk into the bathroom, "Her issues are with Marcel, not me."

"What do you know?" Klaus' question is greeted with silence as Lola has her back to him. He narrows his eyes at her as he steps closer, "Lola, what do you know?"

Lola looks through the mirror towards Klaus standing behind her, "I don't know anything."

Klaus' mouth gapes open about to respond until they both hear Elijah, "Niklaus!"

Lola turns to face Klaus, she places her hands against his chest as she starts to push him out of the bathroom with a smug grin, "You should deal with that. Have fun."

Klaus stands in the doorway of the bathroom, giving Lola a serious glare, "You're not leaving this house, do you understand me?"

Lola flashes an annoyed smile as she bows slightly, "Yes, Sir." She rolls her eyes turning away from him, closing the bathroom door in his face with magic.

β€”βœ€β€”

Lola walks through the compound when she notices Rebekah standing in front of several chests full of white dresses, looking up towards the balcony where Klaus is standing, "So the witch is missing, huh?"

Rebekah looks over to Lola, "Walked right out of the front door, apparently. Know anything about it?"

"No," Lola drawls out as she pretends to look through a chest of dresses, she looks over to Rebekah who isn't buying her sudden interest in the white dresses, "Although I did tell her that the witch Elders were dead."

Rebekah frowns, "Well, why would she care, when the witches tried to kill her in their ritual?"

Lola shrugs, "I think it was more that Marcel didn't tell her that the one thing preventing her from being free had been eliminated."

Rebekah rolls her eyes as she turns away from Lola, "So you are the reason she's run off."

"Hey, I was just telling her the truth." Lola defends herself, she steps closer to Rebekah, glancing up towards where Klaus is standing, now with Marcel too, "She's the one who realised they were just using her to keep their control over the witches."

"Yeah well, I've never been a fan of the boys club." Rebekah scoffs as she too looks up towards where Klaus and Marcel are standing both muttering quietly to each other, "Just wait, Elijah will join them and the three of them will be impossible." Rebekah sighs heavily, "Used by the witches, lied to by Marcel, manipulated by Elijah, threatened by Klaus. Just like a modern-day Casket Girl."

Lola raises her brow, crossing her arms against her chest as she narrows her eyes towards Rebekah, "Are you talking about Davina or yourself?"

"Does it matter? Either way, us girls have got to stick together." Rebekah smiles faintly, slightly squeezing Lola's arm as she walks away, "I'll speak to you later."

Lola glances up towards where Klaus is standing once more until her phone goes off. She sees a text from Adrianna with the bar she wants to meet, only a few doors down from Rousseau's. Lola starts to walk towards the entrance of the compound until she can sense the two vampire guards Klaus has ordered to follow her.Β

Lola stops in her place, rolling her eyes, "Last time I checked I don't need dumb and dumber to follow me to the bathroom." Lola turns to face them both, "Can you at least give a girl some privacy?"

The two guards cross their arms over their chests, ignoring Lola's request and not moving. She scoffs as her phone starts to ring, frowning slightly noticing who's calling her. She flashes a fake smile towards the two vampires, "Give me two minutes. It's my gynaecologist." Lola walks into the side door that leads into the garage before answering her phone, "What the hell do you want?"

"I know you don't trust me, but you need to listen." Sophie Devereaux begins, "Everything is about to change. Davina's on the loose."

"Figured that out on your own, huh? Remind me again why I should give a shit?"

"I need something from you so that the witches can complete the Harvest."

"On what planet would I help you witches get more power? All you've done is hex me left and right!" Lola scoffs, "You can't just expect me to help you after everything you've done. Find someone stupid enough to help because it isn't me."

Not letting Sophie respond, Lola hangs up. She peaks her head around the garage door to see the two vampires waiting outside. Lola rolls her eyes as she presses her back against the garage wall until a hint of a smirk twitches at the corner of her mouth as she comes up with an idea, "Invisique."

β€”βœ€β€”

Feeling smug that she managed to leave the compound without the two vampires realising, Lola pulls her car into the driveway of the planation mansion. She rushes into the house, "Hayley?" She looks into the living room, "Hey, Hayls, you here?"

Hayley is half way down the stairs when Lola walks back into the foyer, "Is everything okay?"

"No, everything is not okay." As Hayley gets to the bottom of the stairs, Lola pulls her in a warm embrace, "I miss you! I'm at the compound and you're still staying here, it sucks." Lola pulls away from the hug, "You can move in the compound, you know?"

"And live with Klaus and all the other idiotic vampires in this city?" Hayley retorts in a sarcastic manner, "No thanks."

"You'd rather live in here on your own?" Lola glances around the half empty plantation, "Ade's got her own place, Elijah and Rebekah are apparently now moving into the compound."

Lola's phone begins to ring, she groans getting tired of hearing the ring from Sophie Devereaux. She screens the call, slamming her phone onto the table in the middle of the foyer.

Hayley frowns glancing down at the phone, "Who's pissed you off now?"

"Sophie Devereaux thinking she can just snap her fingers and expect me to help her." Lola glances at her watch, "Shit, I need to go. I'm meeting Ade at some bar now, do you wanna come?"Β

Hayley smiles and nods, "I might catch up later." She watches as Lola walks out of the planation, she closes the door as Lola climbs back into her car. As Hayley steps further into the planation, Lola's phone on the table begins to ring again. Hayley grabs the phone, rushing out of the house, "Lola!"

Hayley's shoulders slouch seeing Lola has already driven away from the home. Interest piques as she looks down at the caller ID, growing curious what Sophie Devereaux needs to desperately.

β€”βœ€β€”

Lola perks up as she walks down the bustling french quarter as the casket girls festival begins to liven up, then noticing the bar that Adrianna has told her to meet her in. Just as Lola walks up to the bar, someone grabs hold of her hand and rushes her into the nearest alley.

Lola frowns as she looks to see an annoyed looking Klaus standing in front of her, she pushes him away from her, "What the hell!?"

Klaus blocks Lola's way from leaving the alley with a stern look on his face, "We made an agreement."

Lola glances down at the ground, pursing her lips as she nods, "Yes, yes we did. But then I made one with myself. What was it again?" She glares over to Klaus, "Oh that's right. No uterus, no opinion."

Lola pushes away from Klaus, leaving him standing on his own in the middle of the alley way. She walks out of the alley way and walks into the busy bar, looking around for Adrianna.

"Hey, Lola."

Lola glances over to the person who greeted her, sitting at the side of the bar, "Hey, Scott." Lola continues to walk further in before stopping as she frowns, "Wait." Lola turns around to see Scott standing up from his seat with a beaming smile, "Scott?"

"Surprise!"

Scott pulls Lola in a tight hug until she pulls away looking at him confused, "What are you doing here?"

"We came to surprise you!" Scott's smile fades as he picks up on the confusion covering Lola's face, "Ade didn't tell you?"

Lola narrows her eyes over to him, tilting her head slightly, "We as in..."

"Me and Nate." Scott frowns as he glances around the busy bar, "Although he's gone off somewhere with Ade, probably best to not go and find them."

Lola can feel someone pressing against her back, she glances behind her to see Klaus standing there, his face like stone glaring over to Scott. Lola cringes slightly as she quickly turns back to face Scott when he gestures down towards her bump, "Hey, you're pregnant! That's weird...and sorta impossible. It's not mine, is it?"

Never has Lola wanted the ground to swallow her up as much as she does right in this moment. She clears her throat, "Scott..."

Scott starts laughing, not even realising the angry hybrid standing behind Lola, "I'm kidding, obviously. Now that would be impossible. It's been what? Over twenty years since we...you know."

"Scott," Lola snaps sternly, she looks over to Klaus before back at Scott, "This is Klaus."

Scott's eyes widen as his panic stare meets Klaus' furious one, "Right! The uh, original, uh hybrid-" Scott clears his throat, attempting to not sound as panicky as he is right now, "The boyfriend." Scott smiles slightly as he notices the ring on Lola's finger, "Oh, fiancee. Congrats. I'm Scott." Scott smiles genuinely towards Klaus, holding his hand out but he gets nothing but silence and a look that would turn Scott to ash right this second. Scott awkwardly pulls his hand back, "I, uh," He smiles awkwardly at Lola as he gestures behind him, "I'm just gonna...yeah."

Lola cringes as she watches Scott walk away, not daring to look over to Klaus, "So, that's Scott."

Klaus stands in front of Lola, blocking her from seeing Scott at the other side of the bar, "You two..."

"No!" Lola gasps, feeling offended that he would suggest something like that. But her fake offence wears off when Klaus gives her a knowing look making her shrug, "Once." Lola's mouth gapes open, looking away from Klaus but can still feel his glare burning into the side of her face, "Okay, twice...I think. But it was just a one night thing."

"Oh and that's supposed to make me feel better about this?" Klaus scoffs, turning to face where Scott is standing, gesturing over to him, "The fool is clearly still in love with you."

"Oh, come on." Lola rolls her eyes, pulling Klaus to make him face her again, "Don't be so stupid. He's not in love with me, Nik." She shrugs as she looks over his shoulder towards Scott, "He's just awkward. Always has been and always will be."

"Should I expect any more men to come into our city that you have a history with?"

"Well, that depends..." Lola purses her lips as she glances around the bar before looking back towards Klaus with a hint of tease in her eyes, "Do you think this is the kind of bar you'd find Roger Taylor in?" Lola's lips form a thin line as she tries to fight back laughter at the jealousy showing on Klaus' face, "So jokes are a no?"

Klaus shifts slightly in his spot, continuing his glare at Lola making her roll her eyes, "Okay fine, I don't think there should be any more people that will arrive any time soon."

Klaus raises his brow towards her, "People?"

"Oh come on, Nik." Lola scoffs, tapping him against his chest slightly as she steps further into the bar, "Don't be such a prude."

Klaus takes hold of Lola's hand, stopping her from walking further away. He rushes them both out of the bar, "I'm taking you home."

Lola harshly pulls herself away from him, glaring over to Klaus, "No, you're not. I'm not your little bitch that you can keep locked up like a pathetic little damsel in distress." Lola steps closer to him, eyes full of fury, "I'm not Elena Gilbert. So how about you go and do whatever it is you're conspiring with Marcel and Elijah and let me feel just one ounce of normality."

Klaus matches the same furious look in his eyes, he takes hold of Lola's hand, "I won't tell you again."

A red aura surrounds Klaus' hand that is gripped around Lola's, he winces slightly at the pain that starts rushing through his veins. Klaus glances at Lola who wears a deathly calm expression, "I won't tell you again, Klaus. I've been kept inside for long enough. If you so much as continue to try and control me, I'll make it more painful next time."

Lola pulls her hand away from a speechless Klaus' grip when Adrianna rushes over to them both, "There you are! Scott told me he seen you but then you were gone!" Adrianna glances between the couple who continue glaring at each other, not saying a word. Adrianna clears her throat, "Shall I give you a second or something?"

"No." Lola flashes a false smile towards Adrianna, "I'll see you back inside, Ade."

Adrianna hesitates for a moment before leaving the pair in the middle of the street. Lola sighs as she steps closer to Klaus, taking hold of his hand, "I love you, okay? And I appreciate your worry but there is no need to be concerned about me right now. I'm gonna be with Ade, nothing will happen."

Klaus, still unsure about leaving Lola, glances away staring into the busy crowds parading down the streets. Lola softly places her hand against his cheek, making him face her, "You have other battles you need to fight right now. Go and fight them then come back here and we'll go home."

After more hesitation, Klaus nods slightly, "Call me if anything happens."

Lola walks back towards the bar to see Adrianna lingering outside, "Let's go."

"Wait." Adrianna stands between Lola and the entrance to the bar, "Um, Nate doesn't know."

Lola frowns as she looks over Adrianna's shoulder as someone walks out of the bar and she can see Nate sitting in the corner, "Nate doesn't know I'm pregnant? I thought he did."

Adrianna smiles awkwardly as she glancing into the bar before back at Lola, "Well, I thought you'd have wanted to tell him yourself."

"So what made him agree to cancelling the wedding?" Lola's face twists with confusion, "You said that you discussed it with Nate."

"I did but I just told him there were things going on here that was a priority, I never went into detail." Adrianna frowns when Lola's eyes start to become glossy, "Hey, what's wrong?"

"You cancelled your wedding for me." Lola takes hold of Adrianna's hand and laughs slightly, "You shouldn't do nice things for a hormonal pregnant woman."

Adrianna smiles towards her best friend, she pulls her sleeve over her hand and wipes away Lola's tears, "Oh jeez, 58 years of friendship and I'm still not used to seeing you upset. When you think about it, cancelling the wedding was the best idea I've came up with!"

Lola steps back slightly from Adrianna, "How the hell is it the best idea?"

"I don't want a wedding where I can't get drunk with my maid of honour." Adrianna shrugs, linking arms with Lola, "What's the point in the wedding if I can't do that? Come on."

Lola takes a deep breath as they both walk into the bar. Adrianna breaks away from Lola as she steps ahead of her, "Nate!"

Nate turns around with a beaming smile as he looks over to Adrianna and Lola, "There they are. Lola!" Nate's smile drops as he steps closer to Lola, seeing her bump, "Oh. You're-"

Lola smiles slightly, holding her arms out, "Surprise."

Nate takes Lola's hands, he steps back slightly looking at her confused, "Is that even possible?"

"If it wasn't I definitely wouldn't be standing here with what looks like a beach ball under my shirt." Lola pulls Nate's hands slightly with a tease in her eyes, "I don't need to explain the birds and the bees talk with you, do I?"Β

Nate chuckles as he pulls Lola in a hug, "I've missed you."

"Is the hybrid gone?" A nervous looking Scott approaches them all with a tray full of tequila shots, "I'm allowed to live for a few more hours?"

Lola playfully hits Scott's shoulder as he takes a seat, "As long as you don't bring that night up again."

All four of them sit around a table as Scott shares out the tequila shots between him, Nate and Adrianna before giving Lola a non alcoholic drink. Adrianna laughs slightly as she pushes the shot glasses away from herself, "Actually...I'm not drinking for a few months."

Scott looks over to her, slightly shocked, "Please don't tell me there's another magical pregnancy in the group." Scott pushes Nate slightly, "What did you do?"

"I didn't do anything!" Nate exclaims pushing Scott back before looking at Adrianna awkwardly, "Did I?"

"You're an idiot." Adrianna rolls her eyes, "I made a pact with Lola that I won't drink for the rest of her pregnancy. Sober solidarity."

Both men burst out laughing at Adrianna's claim to stay sober resulting in them both getting a glare back from her. Lola can't help but laugh to as she takes hold of Adrianna's hand, "Ade, come on, you don't have to do that."

"You are my best friend." Adrianna squeezes Lola's hand, "If you're not drinking, I am not drinking."

Nate and Scott both glance at each other before Nate shrugs his shoulders and handing Scott one of the shots, "More for us. Cheers."

β€”βœ€β€”

Both Adrianna and Scott step out of the bar, wanting to see more of the Casket Girl Festival, leaving Lola and Nate inside the bar. Nate walks back over to where Lola is sitting with a beer and a non alcoholic beer, hanging that over to Lola.

Lola smiles up at him, "Thanks, Nate."

"So, this pregnancy..." Nate drawls out, he shifts his chair closer to Lola, "We're okay with it?"

Lola's hand goes to her bump, she smiles as she nods, "It took some time but yeah, we are."

"And are you okay?" Nate's concerned expression, mixes with tease, "Don't lie to me."

"I'm okay." Not buying Lola's response, Nate tilts his head slightly towards her making Lola laugh, "I'm not lying, honestly I'm okay. I will feel even better when I go and see my brothers." Lola sighs as she slumps back in her chair, "I just need to prepare for the many lectures I'll get off them."

"You've not told them?"

"I can't exactly spring this type of news on them over the phone." Lola shrugs as she sits up straight, taking a sip of the non alcoholic beer, "I'm going to go back to Mystic Falls soon, in the next couple days."

"This is so weird." Nate laughs slightly as he watches a pregnant Lola drinking non alcoholic drinks, "Lola Salvatore is gonna be a mom. I was expecting you were going to tell us that you've killed someone, not that you're pregnant."

"Technically it's both." Lola deadpans, she glances over to Nate who is looking confused, "There were a group of witches trying to kill me because another crazy ass witch had some stupid visions my child is going to bring death to all witches."

"Huh, they sound like you already. I'm serious though, Lo." Nate takes hold of Lola's hand, smiling genuinely at her, "You're gonna be a great mom."

Scott appears behind Lola, making her jump slightly as he puts his hands against her shoulders. He lowers himself slightly, kissing Lola's cheek, "We already know I'm going to be the favourite uncle, there's no need to beat around the bush."

Lola narrows her eyes at Scott as he sits opposite her, "That's a very bold statement to make, Garcia."

"I'm gonna be fun uncle Scotty." Scott shrugs, he pushes Nate slightly, "This one is gonna be lame ass uncle Nate."

"Well, fun uncle Scotty, I think the next round is on you." Nate stands up, standing behind Scott, harshly grabbing hold of Scott's shoulders, "Come on."

Adrianna smiles down at Lola before sitting beside her, "Hey."

"Hey!" Lola watches as Adrianna smiles towards where Nate and Scott are standing at the bar. Lola takes hold of Adrianna's hand to jump her out of her thoughts, "How you doing, Ade?"

Adrianna wraps her arm around Lola, "I'm in a beautiful, lively city with the people I care about most in the world, I couldn't be better."

"Thank you." Lola pulls away from Adrianna, taking hold of both her hands, "For everything. I don't say it enough but I am so grateful for you. I love you so much."

"Are you sure you haven't snuck a few tequilas?" Adrianna teases, she kisses Lola's cheek, "I love you too." They both turn when they hear Nate and Scott cheering over something at the bar, "They're like two kid brothers no matter what."

Lola points towards the corner of the bar, "Good thing is they haven't noticed the piano in the corner just yet."

"Oh god, I haven't heard them on the piano since that night in 1990. The night after I walked in on you and Scott."

"Then we went to France and came back when the asshole made us think he was dead."

"His heart was in the right place doing that." Adrianna frowns, glancing around the busy bar, "Hey, where's Hayley?"

"I stopped by the plantation and offered her to join us. Let me-" Lola reaches into her pocket, she sighs as she remembers leaving her phone on the table in the plantation, "Shit. I must have left my phone there when I went to see her."

"I'll ring her." Adrianna pulls her phone out, dialling Hayley's number. She frowns as she pulls her phone away from her, "Straight to voicemail."

"Do you think we should check on her?"

Both of their attention goes to the corner of the room when they hear the familiar sound of Nate and Scott's favourite song being played on the piano. They see them both sitting by the piano, wearing sunglasses.

Scott stands up, using his beer bottle as a microphone, "You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain."

Scott holds the bottle in front of Nate for him to start signing as he plays the piano, "Too much love drives a man insane. You broke my will, but what a thrill!"

They both gesture to the busy crowd who all begin to join in, "Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!"

Adrianna and Lola both watch on amused, memories of the pair singing this pretty much every night at O'Malley's come rushing back to Lola and Adrianna. Adrianna turns to face Lola, eyes full of amusement, "And miss this? I'm sure Hayls is fine."

"Kiss me baby!" Scott grabs Nate's face and kisses his cheek as Nate continues to sing, "Ooooooh, that feels good. Hold me baby!"

"I wanna love you like a lover should." Scott sits beside Nate as the begin to sing in unison, "Your fine, so kind. I gotta tell the world that you're mine, mine, mine, mine!"

Lola glances behind her towards the window of the bar where she can see Klaus outside speaking with Elijah. She grabs her jacket, leaning closer to Adrianna, "I'm gonna go. I'll speak to you tomorrow."

β€”βœ€β€”

Klaus wraps his arm around Lola as they both walk down the streets of the Quarter back towards the compound. Both remaining quiet for different reasons, Lola just feeling content about everything that is happening but then Klaus staying quiet, trying to figure out how to come clean to Lola about everything that happened tonight.

"Elijah found me in the early nineties, when I was living in New York." Lola breaks the silence, seeing Scott today is making her think about that day when Elijah came to speak to her, "He told me that you knew where I was and that you knew for months. Is that true?" Klaus comes to a halt as he nods, "I'm just curious why you never shown yourself."

"I was there, I was just better at hiding than you were." Klaus teases, the mischief in his eyes leaves as he becomes more serious, "Elijah informed me after he spoken to yourself that you had no wish to see me and in that moment it infuriated me. I went straight to New York, there was a part of me that needed to see you in person to see if your decision would change."

"What changed your mind from doing that?"

"I seen how happy you were." Klaus smiles at Lola, he pulls back some of her hair, his hand resting against her cheek, "You were in that dreary bar called O'Malley's, I seen you through the window sat with Adrianna, watching two fools on the piano. You looked just as beautiful as you always do. Just like you were tonight. In that moment I decided to not be selfish and ruin your new found happiness so I left."

Lola smiles as she wraps her arms around Klaus, pulling him in a soft kiss, "Who knew you could be so selfless?" Klaus wraps his arm around her once more as the continue to walk, "Has the jealousy wore off yet? Oh, wait a minute." Lola grazes her hand over Klaus' cheek, "I can still see a hint of green against your cheeks."

Klaus playfully rolls his eyes, "I don't appreciate you mocking me."

"I'm sure I can think of something else you'll appreciate." Lola teases, she leans closer to Klaus as they continue to walk, "Maybe something that will make you realise there's no reason to be jealous."Β

Klaus pulls Lola closer to him, kissing her against the side of her face. His mischievous grin disappears when they both see Cami approach them.

"Surprised to see me?" Cami quips, crossing her arms against her chest as she glares at Klaus, "After all, you did compel me to leave town."

"You remember."

"Chalk one up for decompulsion. Hurts like hell, but it's worth it. Made me realise exactly why I want to stick around." Cami's attention then goes to Lola, her glare leaving slightly as though her expression softens, "I remember everything with you and Adrianna as well, Lola. Guess it wasn't a dream after all, huh?"Β

Cami's cold glare appears again, stepping closer to the pair, "Oh, and Klaus? If you hurt Davina or Josh in any way, I'll expose you to the world, and then you can kiss the French Quarter goodbye, forever. Have a nice night."
