Chapter 10

The River In Reverse

Lola paces around her bedroom after only having a few hours sleep, she chews on her nail as she waits for Adrianna to answer the phone. She sighs when she finally answers, "How's Hayley doing?"

"She's doing great, Lo. You'd never think she's only about hour eight into becoming a hybrid."

Lola closes her eyes for a moment, feeling relieved, "Thank god. And Elijah?"

Adrianna hesitates on the phone, "He was fine until about an hour ago, the fever has started and I don't think it's going to be long until the hallucinations begin."

Lola glances down at one of her grimoires, "I think I know how to help him without Klaus' blood. I'll be there as soon as I can."

"This isn't going to cause stress between you and Klaus, is it?"

Lola glances towards her bedroom door when she sees a frustrated looking Klaus storm inside holding onto a bottle of bourbon, "Possibly. We'll see." Lola quickly hangs up the phone, she throws it onto the bed beside the grimoire as she smiles towards Klaus, "Everything okay?"

"I've tried to be nice." Klaus grunts as he collapses onto the sofa within the bedroom, "But it seems like I have vipers for family and rats for friends." He grimaces as he holds up the already half empty bottle of bourbon, "Hence why I am relying on the breakfast of champions instead."

Lola kneels on the sofa beside Klaus, she leans forward taking the bottle of bourbon out of his hand and placing it on the floor. Klaus looks at her confused when she flashes an innocent smile, "What are you up to?"

"Me?" Lola pretends to act shocked when Klaus nods, she laughs slightly, "I'm not up to anything."

Klaus narrows his eyes at her when Lola stands up from the sofa and starts to pace around, "I can read you like an open book, love. You're up to something."

Lola stops pacing, she smiles awkwardly at Klaus as she walks back towards the sofa, sitting on the arm rest, "So, I had an idea..." She drawls out awkwardly, she laughs slightly as she pulls the sleeves of her jumper over her hands, bringing them up to her mouth as she looks anywhere but towards Klaus, "I thought I might have a little stroll round the bayou."

Klaus gives her a don't-even-think-about-it glare as he straightens up in this seat slightly, "Lola..."

Lola sighs as she moves down from the arm rest, crossing her legs as she faces Klaus on the sofa, "Look, I've thought about it a lot...and by a lot I mean like an hour..." Klaus rolls his eyes, looking away from her, "I think it's been plenty of time for Elijah to be twisting around in pain in the middle of the bayou."

"You're not going there." Klaus warns her sternly, "End of story." Lola looks over to him annoyed, he edges closer to her on the sofa, giving her a knowing look, "Every time you go to the rotten bayou, something happens."

Lola scoffs as she slumps back on the sofa, "Oh, come on! That's just dramatic, Nik! There has only been three instances where something has happened and I've came back absolutely fine every time!"

Klaus looks at her unimpressed, raising a brow, "Answer me this, love. How many times have you been to the bayou?"

Lola mouth gapes open about to come back with a whitty response until she frowns, thinking the exact amount. Her lips form a thin line when she looks over to a smug looking Klaus, she rolls her eyes and looks away from him, "Three."

Klaus hums in amusement, "Precisely." He takes hold of the bottle of bourbon from the floor and Β comes to a stand, "Besides, what makes you think you'd be able to convince me to hand over my blood to heal Elijah?"

"That's the other thing..." Lola drawls out as she stands up from the sofa, closing the gap between her and Klaus, "I think there may be another way to heal a wolf bite that doesn't need your blood."

Klaus tries to read Lola's face which is when his face drops, his shoulders slump, "No."

Lola scoffs, "You don't even know what I was going to suggest."

"It's impossible to siphon a werewolf bite, Lola!"

Lola rolls her eyes, she grabs her grimoire and pushes it towards Klaus, "See that page? It says siphoners can siphon pretty muchΒ anything that contains magic." She slams the book shut in Klaus' hands and throws it behind him onto the bed, "The only way someone turns into a wolf is through magic, right? So technically, the venom is magic too."

Klaus sighs as he walks past Lola and starts to pace, "What if it doesn't work?"

Lola shrugs, looking at him unfazed at his sudden change in posture, "So it doesn't work. Elijah will heal eventually from the bite if you won't give your blood to him. At least I've tried my way." Lola sighs as she watches Klaus' stone cold stare stay on his face, "You're not gonna change your mind, are you?"

"Okay, fine!" Lola admits defeat, she wraps her arms around Klaus' closing the gap between them both, "Let's just spend today just the two of us." Lola's hands slowly move up Klaus' chest, he raises an intrigued brow as Lola backs him towards the sofa, "I heard Rebekah storm out of here...leaving the two of us alone."

Lola pushes Klaus down onto the sofa, he looks up at her in complete and utter awe, taking hold of her hands, "What exactly did you have in mind?"

Lola hums in thought when Klaus' hands move to her hips, pulling her down towards him making her straddle him, "Well we could start off with you ripping our clothes off us both..." Klaus closes his eyes and arches his head back when Lola begins to leave a trail of soft kisses against his neck at an agonisingly slow speed, "Then we'll go into the bathroom and take a shower together which is when it won't just be the hot water that is steaming the room up..." Klaus looks back towards Lola with a devilish smirk as Lola's hands slowly move down Klaus' chest and abdomen. Klaus' grip tightens on Lola's hips, pushing her further down against his lap, he leans closer to her lips. Lola smirks as she slowly brushes her lips against Klaus', "Then we'd move to our bed..." Lola turns slightly to face their bed, allowing her neck to softly brush against Klaus' face, he breathes in her intoxicating scent. Klaus' hand goes to the back of Lola's neck, he pulls her closer to him as he hungrily kisses her against her neck until he lands upon her pulse. Lola closes her eyes, biting her lip to stop a moan from escaping her lips. Lola pulls Klaus apart from her with force, his eyes light up at the sudden dominance she is portraying. Lola presses herself against Klaus' lap as her hand lowers down his body even further, his back straightens up slightly when Lola leans closer to him once more, tease sparking her eyes as she presses a kiss against his lips so soft is practically hovered. Lola slowly moves her hand to place Klaus' chin between her fingers, tilting his head up slightly. Klaus' hands snake around Lola's waist when Lola leans forward, her lips brush against the side of his face, "Then I'll say your name over and over again, knowing how much you love when I do." Klaus closes his eyes, he inhales sharply as he tries to control himself, feeling Lola's breath against his face, "Nik..."

Klaus' hand runs through Lola's smooth honey hair, pulling her away from him slightly, his eyes turn possessive before crashing his lips against Lola's, both moving together in perfect unison. Klaus rips the top of Lola's jumper slightly, revealing her collarbone where his lips land, leaving his mark. Klaus pulls away only slightly, his lips hover over Lola's bare skin as he frowns. It's as though there's something invisible tightly wrapping around his neck, his breath halts in his throat.Β

His panic stare locks with Lola's smug looking one until a fake pet lip appears on her face along with fake concern, "What's wrong, my love?" Lola softly caresses Klaus' cheeks, "Witch got your tongue?"

Lola stands up from Klaus' lap, smirking down at him as he continues to choke on nothing, "If I remove this spell are you going to stop being the alpha male just for one day and let me try things my way?"

Lola stops concentrating on the spell, making Klaus gasp as he tries to catch his breath. He watches as a smug looking Lola turns her back on him, the corner of his mouth twitches up in an amused grin when he comes to a stand. He closes the gap between he and Lola, he pushes her hair from the side of her neck, his hand gently places against the other side of Lola's neck as he presses himself against Lola's back.Β

He smirks as he can hear Lola's heartbeat becomes more rapid as he lowers himself to be by the side of her face, "You were trying to distract me to get your own way."

Lola laughs slightly, she turns her head to face Klaus, nudging her nose slightly against his before her lips practically hover against his, "I learned from the best."

Their moment gets interrupt when an array of knocking is heard from the front door, "That will be Cami, perfect timing." Lola moves out of Klaus' hold as she walks towards their bathroom, she turns to face him, her eyes full of mischief as she steps backwards, "I guess I'll enjoy that hot and steamy shower on my own. Enjoy writing your memoirs."

She leaves Klaus standing in the middle of their room, slightly speechless and trying to put together everything that has just happened until Lola pops her head round the bathroom door, "Oh and could you sorta compel Cami into thinking that she's always thought my name was actually Lola? I'm getting bored of her calling me Amelia. I love you."

β€”βœ€β€”

Lola can overhear Cami not holding back towards Klaus while they're both in the study. Trying to not make a sound, Lola walks down the stairs and steps out of the plantation. She lingers outside when it's not long until a frustrated Cami storms out of the house, slamming the door behind her.

"Cami!" Lola exclaims in a cheerful manner making Cami jump, not realising Lola was there, "Need a ride home?"

Cami looks around confused where she's standing. Clearly as soon as she has left the planation, Klaus' compulsion comes to effect and Cami remembers nothing from only thirty seconds prior, "Well..."

"Perfect!" Lola takes hold of Cami's hand, leading her down the steps from the home and walks towards Lola's car, "Let's go!"

Lola clears her throat, half way through their car journey, "Do you want to get a drink or something?"

Cami glances at Lola with a hint of confusion until that soon fades away and she smiles towards her, "I'd love that actually. I've been back in town for almost five months and haven't really had any girl chat so it would be nice."

Lola pulls up outside a rustic looking cafe, just on the outskirts of the French Quarter. The pair head into the cafe and find a small table in the corner of the room. The waitress soon comes over with a coffee for Cami and an iced water for Lola.

Cami raises a brow at Lola's drink, "No coffee when we're in a coffee bar?"

Lola smiles awkwardly, her hand falls to her stomach, "I'd love nothing more than have a coffee but can't exactly have caffeine when you're pregnant. Not a lot of it anyway, plus my friend is like some kind of witch and can just sense when I have something she doesn't think I should have."

"A witch?"

Lola catches Cami's confused stare making her laugh, "If witches were real...which they are not." Lola clears her throat, "So, tell me, Cami. What brought you back to New Orleans?"

Cami's posture shifts, she moves around in her seat slightly, pushing away the sudden feeling of anxiety, "I just wanted to be closer to my family...my uncle lives here."

Lola moves the straw round in her glass as she watches Cami intently, trying to read her, "Any other family?"

Cami's face drops, "A brother, he was my twin."

Was.

Lola's heart sinks as she can practically see Cami's heartbreak all over her face. She remembers Klaus telling her about the priest, Cami's twin brother Sean, who massacred a bunch of other men due to being hexed by that annoying witch Agnes.

Cami clears her throat, she flashes a forced smile, "What about you? Any family?"

A hint of a smile appears as Lola nods slightly, "Two brothers."

Cami's demeanour changes, as though a switch is turned on and she becomes more professional, "Are all three of you close?"

"We used to be a lot more close than we are now." Lola smiles faintly as she picks at her nails, "When we were children we were inseparable, we used to call ourselves the three musketeers."

"Is this what you've been wanting to speak about?" Cami leans forward on the table, "I could tell there was something you were holding back the last couple times we had brief talks and you're in a safe place to speak to me if you want. We can class this as a sort of impromptu, casual, off the record therapy session."

Lola laughs slightly as she nods, "Okay." Lola watches out of the window for a moment before she sighs, "Isn't the love of a family supposed to be unconditional and unbreakable?"

Cami purses her lips slightly, she sits back in her seat as she shrugs, "Not in every scenario. Do you not feel like that between you and your brothers?"

"There was a time where I didn't think we'd ever speak again, I felt like I was living with two strangers." Lola attention goes back towards Cami, "We all were involved in this same situation back home but they were on one side of it and I was on the other. During that time I honestly though I had lost them both for good."

"Do you still feel that way?"

Lola's brows knit together as she shakes her head, "Oddly enough, no. Maybe me moving away is what we needed to keep our bond."

Cami stays silent for a moment as she watches Lola, she crosses her arms against her chest not moving her stare away from Lola, "You're holding back on something."

Lola's eyes widen slightly towards Cami, "What?"

Cami sighs as she unfolds her arms, she leans against the table, "That look in your eye is the exact look I have whenever I speak about my brother; guilt."

Lola narrows her eyes towards Cami as her interest piques, "What do you have to feel guilty about?"

Cami smiles politely at Lola, shaking her head, "This isn't my pop up therapy session, it's yours. So, Lola, what do you have to feel guilty about?"

"My youngest brother, he's called Stefan." Lola begins, she swallows harshly to try and remove the lump that has already begun to form in her throat, "We haven't exactly had the best relationship but we slowly began to bond again, we were closer than we had been in years. But then when I moved back here, it's as though everything we had built back was gone all over again." Lola scoffs softly, glancing back out of the window, "I thought he was annoyed because I left our home town. That was until I realised that the reason he wasn't speaking to me was because he was missing for three months." Lola clears her throat as she looks down at her lap, "I tried to reach out to him, almost every day but when he wasn't responding I just figured he needed space from everything that was happening back home."

Cami's brows furrow as her interest grows at Lola's inner guilt, "How were you supposed to know he was missing?"

Lola blinks away the tears that are beginning to sting. She laughs nervously as she shrugs, "I'm his older sister, I should have known something was up."

"You can't blame yourself for things that are out of your control." Cami sighs as she sits back in her seat, "Believe me, I can relate to that. You need to just focus on the things you can control."

Lola scoffs, "That feels like a very small list lately."

Cami looks down at Lola's phone that begins to buzz, "I think that's where you're wrong."

Lola takes her phone to show a text from Adrianna,

Elijah is getting worse.

Lola exhales a shaky breath as she places her phone back onto the table, Cami watching as she does, "Could that be one of the things you can control?"

"Guess I'll find out." Lola grabs her purse hanging on the back of her chair, placing her phone into it before smiling genuinely towards Cami, "Thank you, Cami. I know I said my best friend is just like you but honestly I felt comfort speaking to you."

"I'm glad I could help." Cami mimics the same smile as she comes to a stand, "If you ever want to speak, literally about anything, I'll be here."

"Likewise." Lola stands up, the pair begin to walk out of the cafe, "I know I'm not a shrink or anything like that but like you said, you haven't had much girl talk since you've moved back so just know if you need it again, come find me." They both come to a halt outside of the cafe, "Do you need a lift home or something?"

Cami shakes her head as she looks down the street behind her before looking back at Lola, "My place is only about three blocks away, I'll walk." Cami takes hold of Lola's hand, giving her a reassured squeeze, "Don't beat yourself up over things that aren't your fault."

β€”βœ€β€”

Lola pulls up in the middle of the bayou, it's the middle of the night by the time she arrives. She makes haste towards the shack she was at only yesterday when she sees a nervous Adrianna pacing outside of it, "Is he in there?"

"Lo, wait." Adrianna blocks Lola from stepping any closer to the shack, "The hallucinations are getting worse, I don't know if it would be a good thing if you went in there right now."

"What are you doing here?" Hayley's voice comes into play as she steps out of the shack, glaring over to Lola, "Come to find some more wolves to create hybrids with?"

Lola rolls her eyes, not having the energy for a back and forth argument with Hayley, "Okay, you know what, Hayley? Just shut up."

Lola takes a step closer towards her, "I am sorry that this has happened to you. I'm gonna regret this for the rest of my life that this is now the life you have to live. I never wanted this for you!" Lola scoffs as she throws her arms up, "You can believe me or not, I don't give a crap anymore. I could channel Stefan and say how your emotions are heightened which is why you're all angry and paranoid thinking this was my sole purpose but I'm not doing that. I've come to help Elijah."

Hayley frowns, not believing her, "You've come to help?"

Lola flashes a smug expression, "Exactly. So, how about we take the fact that once again I've came to the bayou and I have a solution to Elijah's little issue and we call it even? I'm willing to move past the fact that you and Elijah, two of the closest people to me, think that the purpose of my baby is to create hybrids."

Adrianna clears her throat, gesturing towards a book on the ground beside the fire, "Hayley, show Lola what you've found."

Hayley hesitates for a moment before turning on her heel and grabbing the book, "This bible was dumped outside the shack and look at the last few pages." Hayley holds it out in front of Lola, "Dozens of Lebonairs and I think it ends with me. Andrea Lebonair, that's my birthday."

Lola frowns as she notices one name standing out to her, she takes hold of the book, "Oh my god..."

"What is it?" Hayley grows curious glancing between Lola and the book, "Do you recognise the names?"

Lola nods faintly, "One in particular." Lola's finger traces a long the name Anthony Lebonair - November 16th 1856.

Adrianna narrows her eyes at the name on the page, "Who is it?"

"My half brother."

They all glance over to the shack as they can hear Elijah's screams from inside and crashing around. Hayley glances at the pair as she begins to rush back towards the shack, "Just wait here."

Lola closes the book up, placing it on the large log beside the fire. She notices the fire is starting to die out, "Should we get some firewood or something?"Β

Adrianna links arms with Lola as the both venture further into the woods to grab some more wood. The pair both remain silence, not realising they are both trying to figure out how to come clean about different things.

Adrianna is the first one to break the silence as she stops walking and removes her arm from Lola's, "I have a confession to make."

Lola smiles awkwardly at her as she too comes to a stop, "So do I. You go first."

Adrianna takes a deep breath as she starts to pace around, the quicker her pace becomes the faster she speaks, "Okay, well I know how much you hate surprises so I wanted to tell you because I know if I didn't, you'd come straight for me and-"

"Ade!" Lola places her hands against Adrianna's arms to stop her from pacing, "Calm down."

"Nate and Scott are coming to New Orleans." Adrianna blurts out as she cringes at what Lola's reaction may be.

Lola removes her hands from Adrianna, stepping back, "They're what?"

"You should feel lucky that I've managed to keep them away for this long!" Adrianna scoffs, "This was going to be the plan all along, Lo. I can't exactly move here without my fiancee. Plus, Scott needs to be around people he can trust and who know how to keep him under the radar."

Lola rolls her eyes, knowing Adrianna has a point, "Yeah, I know. But Scott? Really? It's not exactly a good idea, is it?"

"Why?" Adrianna frowns, shrugging her shoulders, "Because Klaus has some creepy fetish about rippers?"

Lola scoffs, pushing Adrianna away slightly as she rolls her eyes, "No, because of the other thing..."

Adrianna's face continues to twist with confusion, staring at Lola's wide eyes until the penny drops. Adrianna's mouth gapes open, "Oh." Adrianna purses her lips for a second before shrugging it off, she links arms with Lola once more as they continue to walk, "I highly doubt Scott would ever bring that up in front of Klaus."

"We're talking about the same Scott, right?" Lola retorts, she looks at Adrianna with an unamused stare, "The one who has word vomit 24 hours a day?"

"Wait," Adrianna stops walking once more, "What was your confession?"

Lola bites her lip, she pulls away from Adrianna, tightly shutting her eyes, "I cheated on you!"

Adrianna laughs breathlessly, "What?"

Lola slowly opens one eye as she sees Adrianna looking puzzled. She sighs as she opens both eyes stepping closer to her, "I spoke to a shrink and I feel like I've cheated on you, Ade. But there's something about this girl, I don't know what it is. It's like I've met her before and I just wanted to figure out if I could remember anything when I spoke to her but then it ended up as a sorta impromptu therapy session."

Adrianna can't hold back her laughter much longer, her laugh echoes around the empty woods, shaking her head, "You haven't cheated on me, Lo. You're being ridiculous. Honestly I think it's a good thing you've spoken to someone else."

"You do? Why?"

Adrianna shoots an unimpressed brow, "Because it's got to the point where you're so damn stubborn you won't listen to what I tell you anymore."

Lola scoffs as she starts to walk, "That's not true! I-" Lola comes to a halt, she freezes when she spots a blonde woman standing in front of her and Adrianna, "You. You were here the other day but ran away. Who are you?"

Eve pulls her hood down as she steps closer to the pair, "I'm Eve. You're Lola Salvatore."

Lola frowns at her, she crosses her arms against her chest, "You know who I am?"

"Everyone around here knows who you are." Eve gestures down towards Lola's stomach, "Word has spread like wildfire about the miracle baby you're carrying. Your history with my pack is famous around here, the rare time a vampire was part of the inner circle."

"Your pack?" Lola echoes, her eyes brighten in hope as she moves closer to Eve, "You're part of the crescent pack, aren't you? Is it just you here right now?"

"Everyone fled when the presence of an original came to light once more." Eve looks over Lola's shoulder towards the shack, "The girl, she has the mark."

"Her name is Hayley." Adrianna speaks up, "Well, in the book that was left on the porch which I gather you put there, it says her name is Andrea."

Eve stature stiffens, "She's not like the rest of us?"

Lola sighs, she lowers her head slightly, "Hayley is a hybrid." Lola looks back over to Eve with a hint of plea in her eyes, "But, please, talk to her. The whole reason we've came back here is because Hayley needs to know more about her family. Will you speak with her?"

Eve looks over towards the shack for a second before looking back at Lola and Adrianna and nodding. All three walk back towards the shack when Adrianna can hear Elijah shouting and crashing about, without hesitating, Adrianna vamp speeds towards the shack.

Lola places her hand on Eve's shoulder, "Please don't leave. Just wait here." Lola runs towards the shack, as she opens the door she sees Elijah passed out on the floor and Adrianna consoling a shaken up Hayley kneeled in the corner of the room, gripping hold of her neck, "What the hell happened?"

"His hallucinations," Hayley breathes out, "They got even worse."

"I need to do this now." Lola sits on the edge of the cot within the shack, "Put him over here."

Adrianna and Hayley come to a stand, they pick Elijah up and place him on the cot where Lola is sitting, his head rests against Lola's lap. Lola moves his head to the side to reveal the hybrid bite that Klaus done.

Hayley watches as Lola hovers her hand over the bite, "You're siphoning the bite?"

"I'm gonna try." Lola takes a deep breath and begins to concentrate on the bite against Elijah's neck. Adrianna and Hayley both watch as a red aura surrounds Lola's hand, their eyes widen in amazement when they see the bite slowly shrink until there's nothing left there at all.

Lola releases a heavy breath of relief as she moves her hand away to see no visible bite, "I think it worked. I'll wait in here until he wakes up." Lola glances over to Adrianna, gesturing towards the door of the shack, "Ade, you should..."

"Right." Adrianna softly places her hand against Hayley's arm, "Hayley, there's something you need to see out here."

Hayley steps towards the door but stops turning to face Lola again, "Hey, Lola. Do you, uh, do you know anyone by the name of Celeste?"

Lola moves away from the cot, looking at Hayley confused, "What do you know about Celeste?"

"Elijah let me into his thoughts by mistake, he kept thinking I was her." Hayley starts picking at the hem of her cardigan, "Did you know her?"

"Uh, no." Lola shakes her head, she clears her throat. Taken aback after not hearing the name Celeste for over a century, "No, that was 1820 I think, over twenty years before I was even alive."

"Was she-" Hayley clears her throat at she looks behind Lola, towards an unconscious Elijah, "Was she important to him?"

Lola sighs softly as she takes hold of her hand, "Hayley, it's not my memory to share. Elijah will share if he feels it necessary."

Hayley nods before walking out of the shack, Adrianna soon following. Lola crosses her arms against her chest as she turns back round to look towards Elijah. She takes a seat in the corner of the room and waits for Elijah to wake up. Her knee bounces up and down, not removing her stare from Elijah as her annoyance continues to build towards him. Someone she trusted more than anything to then so easily think the worst towards her.Β

It's not long after when Elijah begins to wake, he groans gripping hold of his neck. He looks over to Lola who stands up, Elijah sits up slightly, "Charlotte, what are you doing here?"

Lola scoffs as she throws the piece of wood at Elijah that she has been gripping onto, "You're an asshole!" Elijah covers his face to block the impact of the wood, he looks back over to her stunned, "How could you think that Nik would use our child to create hybrids!?" Lola's anger pulsates through her, she glares down at him stepping closer, "How could you think that I would do that!?"

Lola steps back, she gestures towards Elijah, "You're welcome, by the way. Turns out a cure for a werewolf bite isn't just Nik's blood anymore. I can siphon them away."

Elijah's hand falls to where the bite once was, he sighs as he stands up from the cot, "I never once put you in the category of using your child this way."

Elijah tries to step closer to Lola but she pushes him away with as much force as she can muster up. Tears stream down her face, eyes dark with betrayal, "But you put Nik in that category without any hesitation whatsoever! I know he has done a lot of shit things in his time but how could you think for a second he would do something that foul towards a baby!? Our baby!"

Elijah stays silent, Lola groans in frustration and grabs another block of wood. She throws her arm up about to throw it towards Elijah but he softly grips hold of her wrist, he lowers himself to be eye level with her, "Charlotte, you need to calm down." Lola's breathing becomes erratic as she still grips hold of the wood, Elijah other hand gently places against Lola's cheek, "I'm sorry. I will forever be sorry for my accusation."

Lola scoffs as she pulls her wrist away from Elijah, she throws the block of wood to the opposite side of the shack before wrapping her arms around Elijah's waist and pulls him into a hug. Elijah freezes for a moment, allowing Lola to calm herself down, his hand goes to the back of Lola's head as he pulls her further into the embrace.

"I don't have my brothers with me anymore and I can't lose you too, Elijah." Lola pulls away from the hug, she wipes away the fallen tears from her cheeks, "You're one of the most important people in my life and I can't do this without you. I remember saying to you that you're more like a brother to me than my actual brothers. Can you remember that?"

Elijah nods slightly, "I remember."

"Good, so don't make me go back on my word." Lola swallows harshly before clearing her throat to stop herself from crying even more, "Okay, just like I won't make you go back on your word."

Elijah wraps his arm around Lola's shoulder, "I'm taking you home. Come on."

As the pair walk out of the shack, they look over to see Hayley and Adrianna sat around the fire with Eve. As they step closer they hear Hayley speak up, "What kind of curse?"

"Swap nature around, inside out." Eve informs her, "Made it so their natural state is wolves. They only turn back human on the full moon. We're hunted by the marks we carry." Eve gestures towards Hayley's shoulder, "That crescent moon birthmark-- that's why I got rid of mine." Eve turns slightly to show her shoulder with a burns scar where her birthmark used to be, "I didn't wanna get found out."

"Good evening." They all turn to see Elijah approach them all with Lola not far behind.

Hayley stands in front of Eve, giving him a knowing glance, "Elijah, I've got this. Are you okay?"

"The wound is healed, the fever is broken." Elijah smiles graciously towards Lola, "I have Charlotte to thank for that."

Hayley turns to face Eve again, "I have to get him home. But I'll be back, okay? I need to know more."

Eve nods, she points towards Hayley's shoulder once more, "Keep that mark covered up."

They all watch as Eve walks further into the dark woods. Elijah frowns slightly as she steps beside Hayley, "What happened?"

Hayley smiles faintly, watching Eve walk further away, "I just met part of my family."

β€”βœ€β€”

Lola sits on the front steps of the planation, the only place she can find one ounce of silence at the minute. She didn't stay in the house long after they all arrived back from the bayou, hearing Klaus argue with Elijah and Rebekah was too much and she felt like they needed privacy. Adrianna has took Hayley to feed and try to keep her thirst under control.

Lola sighs heavily as she buries her face into the palm of her hands, until the front door opening makes her sit up straight. She turns to see Klaus walking down the steps, "You're coming with me, love."

He holds his hand out for Lola to take but she stares at him confused, "Where are we going?"

"Questions will be answered later." Klaus sighs as he lowers his hand, "Lola, you and our child are the only things on this earth that matter to me, so please get in the car." He turns away from her and walks towards their car, "Now you can fight me on this, but you will lose." Klaus opens up the passenger's side of the car, gesturing for her to get in, "As will anyone else who tries to stop you getting in this car."

Lola glances behind her towards the planation doors before smiling faintly towards him. She stands up from the steps and walks towards the car, climbing into the passenger seat. Klaus drives them away from the home, they both sit in a comfortable silence. Lola glances over to Klaus, her eyes soften when she can see the pain and betrayal at the back of his eyes from what his siblings have accused him of.

Lola clears her throat, glancing down at her lap, "Are you going to tell me where we're going now?"
