Rose

Damon and Stefan are both downstairs the next morning, Lola is upstairs still sleeping. Damon and Stefan are in the library.

"I think Lola is hiding something." Damon says as he grabs a drink.

"What do you mean? Do you mean what Katherine said last night?" Stefan asks.

Damon nods, "Yeah, that and the fact she has only been here a short amount of time and she has disappeared twice."

Stefan looks down to the floor, he already knows Lola is hiding something but she isn't ready to speak about it yet. Stefan was okay with this, but Damon however, he will want to know what's going on no matter what.

Damon notices Stefan looking suspicious, "Wait." Damon says as he walks over to Stefan and Stefan raises his head looking at Damon, "You know something, don't you?" Damon says frowning at his brother.

Damon felt hurt that his sister wouldn't tell him what was going on in her life, they were so close and they always confided in each other no matter what.

"No, I don't I swear. But when we had our talk a couple weeks ago, I could tell there was something she was hiding but Damon, the look on her face." Stefan looks over to his brother with sadness filling his eyes, "What ever it is, I can tell it's painful for her and she isn't ready to say anything."

Damon scoffs and rolls his eyes, he puts his drink down and he makes it towards Lola's bedroom, Stefan is quick on his tail trying to get him to not bother their sister.

Damon quietly opens the door and peeps his head round it and sees his sister is still fast asleep with her back facing the door. He walks over to the side of the bed Lola is laying on and crouches down so he is face to face with her.

As Damon does this, Stefan walks into the room, Damon looks over to his brother and smirks and Stefan responds with an eye roll and leans against the wall with his arms crossed against his chest, he knows this is going to back fire on Damon.

Damon starts to blow in Lola's face which makes her start to stir awake. Lola opens her eyes to see Damon right in front of her, before she even realises it's Damon she punches him in the face causing Damon to fly back and fall against the wall behind him.

Lola shoots out of bed and vamp speeds over and grabs him by the neck, lifting him up off the floor and his legs are dangling and her vamp features come out.

"How the hell are you doing this?!" Damon spits out while he is struggling to breathe in Lola's hold.

Lola smirks and then releases Damon and he falls to the floor but quickly gets up pretending nothing happened.

"That's what you get for waking me up you dick! What the hell was that for?!" Lola shouts at Damon.

Stefan starts to laugh and Lola turns around and glares at Stefan, "What's so funny asshole?"

Stefan hides his laughter with a cough and holds his hands up in surrender, "Nothing, nothing!"

Lola groans and rolls her eyes "What the hell do you both want so badly you had to wake me up?!"

Damon looks over to Stefan and then looks back at Lola, "We just want to talk."

Lola looks at Damon up and down with a raised eyebrow then over to Stefan with the same expression.

"Actually it's not we, Damon wants to talk to you." Stefan says as he looks at Lola with a innocent smile and then over to Damon with a smug smile.

"Look Lola, we- I just want to know what you're hiding from us." Damon says as he sits down on the edge of Lola's bed.

Lola knows straight away what Damon means, he wants to know where she has been going lately and also what Katherine's little snide comment to her was all about. The panic starts to overwhelm Lola and she is glancing at both her brothers with the look of fear on her face. Damon notices this and immediately starts to feel guilty for pushing her into telling him.

"It's not that I don't want to tell you both," Lola says as she looks at the floor not wanting to make eye contact, she looks up at both her brothers with tears in her eyes, "I'm just scared."

Neither brothers have seen Lola this vulnerable in a long time.

Stefan walks over to Lola and hugs her. "You don't have to be scared Lola." Stefan says, he then releases Lola from his hug and grabs her shoulders and staring into her eyes, "We're your brothers, we will always protect you."

Lola scoffs and wipes the tears away from her face, she walks over to her bed and sits besides Damon and puts her head on his shoulders.

"It's him isn't it?" Damon asks softly as he wraps his arm around her shoulder.

Lola closes her eyes and gulps, then nods.

Damon sighs and stands up and puts his hand through his hair, "I'm going to kill him."

"Who's him?" Stefan asking confused.

"Damon you don't even know him to kill him!" Lola shouts up.

"Will someone just tell me what the hell is going on?!" Stefan shouts at both his siblings.

"In the 20s, I found Lola in Chicago, she was a mess. The guy she thought was the love of her life broke her heart." Damon spits out. He doesn't even know who it was, Lola always refused to say who it was, not because Damon would kill him, he would kill Damon.

"Wait, you were in Chicago in the 20s?" Stefan asks confused to Lola, he was in Chicago in the 20s, how come he never seen her?

Lola just glances up at Stefan and looks away, she can't reveal what happened in Chicago.

"Tell him the rest of his Lola." Damon says looking at Lola sympathetically.

"I had been with him and others for about 40 years, but like Damon said, he broke my heart. I don't want to go into what happened because it's just too difficult. But cut the long story short, we found each other again in the 50s and um-it ended badly." Lola says as she is looking down at her hands and digging her nail into the skin of her thumb, she always does this when she gets anxious.

Lola gets annoyed and stands up, "Look all you need to know that it ended badly. I've been running from him ever since, and well-he found me, so I went to go and meet up with him the second time I left Mystic Falls and it didn't end well, again, so yeah." Lola shouts and walks over to her closet to get some clothes out.

"That's all you're going to say?!" Damon shouts over to his sister.

Lola freezes at Damons outburst and turns to him looking angry "Yes Damon! That's all I'm telling you! Can't you see this was hard enough for me already?!" Lola then storms into her bathroom and slams the door shut.

Stefan sighs, "Well done brother." He shakes his head and then starts to walk out the bedroom and he heads to school.

Damon puts his hands round the back of his neck and looks up to the ceiling and sighs. He hates he's made his sister so upset, he can hear her sobs from inside the bathroom. He decides to give her a few minutes to cool down and he'll apologise when she comes downstairs.

Once Lola has calmed herself down she puts on a grey crop top and some skinny black jeans with some black snake print boots. She applies on a little bit of make up as she usually does and then goes to walk downstairs.

Lola walks downstairs to see Damon sat on the couch with his head in his hands. She sighs at the sight of him, she feels bad for her outburst but on the other hand, he shouldn't have pushed her to that.

"Damon." Lola says quietly as she slowly walks towards Damon.

Damon looks up at his sister with tears in his eyes, "Lo, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to push you." Damon stands up and walks over to his sister and pulls her into a bone crushing hug.

"I'm just so worried about you." Damon says as he buries his head into his sister's hair. Damon never gets like this in front of anyone but his little sister. They have both been through so much with each other.

"Damon, it's fine. I know I shouldn't keep things from you, but you have to believe me when I say, I am doing this to protect you." Lola says as she pulls away from the hug and cups Damon's face with both her hands.

Damon looks at Lola confused but doesn't want to push any further and just smiles and nods at her.

"I'm going to speak to barbie vamp and see if she knows anything about the newbie werewolf, you coming?" Damon says as he walks towards the door and grabs his jacket.

Lola follows him "Yeah sure." She says as she makes her way towards the door.

Damon stops her and looks at her up and down, "Is that all you're wearing, is there nothing else you should add onto it?"

Lola rolls her eyes and hits Damon's stomach, "You're an ass." She then walks out of the door.

Damon smiles at his sister and follows her out and they make their way over to Caroline's.

Damon and Lola arrive at Caroline's house and she lets them in and walks back into her bedroom as she is preparing for school. Caroline goes on to explain that Tyler and Matt were fighting but she could tell Matt was being compelled so she knocked him out. But then Sarah start to attack Tyler and in his defence he pushed her away but she hit her head off the side of a desk and she died, which triggered his werewolf curse.

"So Sarah attacks Tyler and he pushed her away and she tripped and she fell and she hit her head." Caroline is explaining as she is finishing off her make up in the mirror.

"Does Matt remember anything?" Lola asks as she is leaning against the door frame with her arms crossed against her chest.

"Hmm, he thinks he blacked out but I think they were both compelled by Katherine. That's why I covered for Tyler and said it was an accident." Caroline says as she is walking round her bedroom finishing off getting ready.

"Yeah, I don't understand that. The guy is a tool." Damon says pulling a face.

"Gee, duh. Tyler getting blamed for Sarah death just opens up questions that he can't answer and do you really think that it's a good idea for him to tell his mom he's a werewolf?" Caroline says as she is putting her shoes on.

"Well, no." Damon says sarcastically.

"And that werewolf road leads straight to Vampire Boulevard! I thought I was thinking fast on my feet." Caroline says proudly.

"Where is your mom?" Damon asks.

"Leading the search party for Aimee Bradley. They haven't found her body yet."

"Oh, teens today and their underage drinking. Tragic." Lola says sighing. Damon smirks at his sister's comment.

"Wait, did you see Tyler's eyes turn yellow?" Damon asks Caroline.

"They were more gold with amber highlights." Caroline says as she starts to daydream about Tyler.

Lola and Damon both look at each other with the same disgusted expression. "Oh." They both say in unison, both equally as grossed out.

"Can he turn into a wolf now?" Caroline asks the two vampires.

"Only on a full moon but now he has increased strength and who knows what else. I wonder how much Mason told him." Lola points out.

"Does he know about us?" Damon asks Caroline. Caroline doesn't answer as she is too busy texting.

"Hey! What did you tell him?" Damon says firmly which makes Caroline snap out of her texting daze.

"Nothing, really. I don't think he knows much of anything. He seemed really freaked out and honestly, I felt kind of bad for him." Caroline says sympathetically as she grabs her bag and keys and makes her way out of the room and walks towards the front door.

Lola and Damon look at each other again with the same disgust look on their faces, they both can't stand Tyler.

"He's got to know something." Lola says as she pops her head out of the door looking towards Caroline.

"Alright, I'll ask him." Caroline says as she continues to walk towards the door.

Damon rushes in front of Caroline and grabs her by the collar on her jacket.

"No, you won't Caroline! He cannot know about us. A bite from a werewolf can kill a vampire so don't be his friend! Do you understand me?" Damon says firmly not loosing eye contact with Caroline. Lola rushes over and pulls Damon away from her.

"I understand. I'm late for school." Caroline says in a scared tone. She may be a vampire but Damon is still a threat with him being over a 100 years older.

"Right." Damon smiles and taps Caroline on her arm.

Lola walks to the front door and opens it for everyone to walk out and smirks over to Caroline, "Oh, If you want to drop the hint to your mom, that Aimee's body is at the bottom of a ravine with a cracked spine. Might save your mom some time." Lola says sweetly and then gestures for them to walk out the door and then they all leave.

Stefan has texted Lola and Damon to meet him at the school, they drive over there and wait outside for Stefan, he approaches them. He explains that Elena never went home last night, he fears someone has taken her.

"This has Katherine written all over it." Stefan impatiently says as he is pacing.

"Katherine's in the tomb. Trust me; I'm the one who shut her in." Damon explains to his brother.

"Did you?" Stefan asks.

"Did I what, Stefan?" Damon snaps.

"Well, I know the hold that Katherine has on you." Stefan says while tilting his head staring at Damon.

"Enough with the big dick competition!" Lola shouts and stands in between her brothers. "She's in the tomb, period. End of story. I was there remember."

Stefan turns his back on his siblings and starts to pace.

Damon stares at the ground "She did say something right before I shut her in. I thought she was lying."

"What did she say?" Stefan asks as he turns round to his face brother.

"Elena's in danger." Lola sighs.

Stefan looks between both his siblings in shock, "What? And you didn't think you should ask her to elaborate?!"

"Everything she says is a lie! How am I supposed to know if she's gonna start spouting out the truth?" Damon shouts.

"We have to go talk to her." Stefan says as he points at Damon.

Lola rolls her eyes, "Please God no." She says out loud, Lola knows her secrets are going to come out eventually but she isn't ready for them to come out right now.

Damon shakes his head, "No, no. Let me tell you how that's gonna go: We're gonna go ask her for help, she's gonna negotiate her release which we're gonna be dumb enough to give her and she's gonna get out and kill us! This is exactly what she wants!" Damon snaps and points to Stefan as Stefan starts to walk away.

"I don't really care." Stefan says as he continues to walk away.

"It's a bad idea, Stefan." Lola says as she shakes her head.

Stefan turns again to face his siblings an lifts his hands in the air "It's Elena." He says as he continues to walk away.

Stefan asked Bonnie to remove the spell in the tomb but Bonnie says it wouldn't be possible, it took her and her Grams to remove it the first place, Bonnie isn't strong enough to do it on her own. Stefan pleads with Bonnie not knowing what to do, he doesn't know where Elena is or who has took her.

Bonnie comes up with an idea to perform a locator spell using Jeremy's blood, once she casts the spell it reveals that Elena is in a town called Reidsville which is roughly about 300 miles from Mystic Falls. Jeremy plans to map it on the computer so they can get a closer image of where Elena is, he plans to search the area and narrow it down.

Stefan grabs some of Alaric's vampire hunting gear to take with him. Lola and Damon walk into the classroom the three are in and both agree to join Stefan to find Elena.

Stefan, Damon and Lola are all on the road on there way to save Elena. Damon is driving, Stefan is in the passenger seat and Lola is in the back. Lola is looking through Alaric's back of vampire killing goodies.

"Hmm, Alaric sure likes his weapons." Lola says sarcastically as she looks through the bag and hands a vervain grenade over to Stefan who grabs it.

Damon looks over to what Stefan has in his hand, "What the hell is that?" He asks.

"I don't know, it's a vervain bomb or a grenade launcher or something like that." Stefan says as he looks between the grenade and his brother.

"Weird." Damon says.

"Hey, how much further is it? Also, I'm not sitting in the back on the way home." Lola says sat in the middle of the back seats with her arms crossed against her chest.

Damon rolls his eyes at his sister's comment, "About 80 miles."

"Who do you think took her?" Stefan asks his siblings as he looks out the window.

"Someone from Katherine's past. She said she was running from someone. They got the wrong girl." Damon says, he looks in his mirror and sees his sister is starting to get uncomfortable, he has a feeling Lola is also going to know this person but he doesn't say anything.

"Thank you for helping me." Stefan says to Damon, he looks over his shoulder and smiles at his sister, "Both of you." Lola smiles back.

"Can we not do the whole road trip bonding thing? The cliche of it all makes me itch." Damon says and grits his teeth saying the last sentence.

"Oh, come on Damon. We both know that you being in this car has absolutely nothing to do with me anyway." Stefan says as he looks out the window again.

Lola rolls her eyes, "The elephant in the room lets out a mighty roar." She sarcastically says.

"Well, it doesn't have to be an elephant." Stefan says as he turns to look at Lola, he looks over to Damon, "You know, let's talk about it."

Damon scoffs, "There's nothing to talk about." He looks at Stefan and then focuses back on driving.

"That's not true. I'm sure there is. Just get it out. I mean, are you in this car because you want to help your little brother save the girl that he loves? Or is it because you love her too? Hmm? I mean come on, express yourself. I happen to like road trip bonding." Stefan says to his brother with a smug smirk on his face.

Lola tilts her head back onto the head rest and groans, "Oh god."

"Keep it up, Stefan. I can step out of helping as easily as I stepped in." Damon quickly responds.

Stefan smiles at his brother, "No, you see that's the beauty of it. You can't." They both look at each other and then look the other way.

Lola just thinks to herself how many more times is she going to roll her eyes during this car journey, she bets she will at least 12 more times.

In the abandoned house that Elena is trapped in, a woman, Rose, brunette with a pixie style hair cut is walking around one of the rooms and blocking up every bit of day light seeping through the windows. Elena walks down the few steps that lead into the room.

"Why am I here?" Elena asks Rose.

"You keep asking me these questions like I'm gonna answer them." Rose answers as she grabs a canvas and places it against a windows to trap the light from coming in.

"Why won't you?" Elena asks again.

"That's another one." Rose says as she continues to block out the natural light.

"You got me, okay? It's not like I can go anywhere. The least you can do is tell me what you want with me." Elena pushes Rose for an answer.

"I personally want nothing; I'm just a delivery service." Rose responds back as she tries to tidy up around the room although it is hard to with the state it's in.

"Delivery to who? Elijah?" Elena asks, she overheard Rose and her friend Trevor talking about a man named Elijah who is coming here.

Rose laughs as she has her back to Elena sorting through books, "Two points to the eavesdropper."

"Who is he? Is he a vampire?" Elena asks as she slowly walks towards Rose.

"He's one of the vampires, the originals." Rose responds with her back to Elena still.

"What do you mean the originals?" Elena asks confused.

Rose sighs, "Again with the questions. Haven't the Salvatores been teaching you your vampire history?" She says with her back to Elena still, she finally turns around to look at Elena, "Surly Charlotte Salvatore has told you about her adventures with the Originals."

Elena gasps, "Wait, you know Lola? So does that mean you know Stefan and Damon also?"

"I know of them. A hundred years back, a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan. She said he was one of the good ones. I'm more of a sucker for the bad boys though but I digress. As for Lola AKA Charlotte, yes I know her, only briefly - we met in the 40s." Rose replies as she turns to the table again and starts to flick through one of the many books that is lying on the table.

"Who are the originals?" Elena asks again.

Rose shuts the book and turns to face Elena "Trevor and I have been running for 500 years. We're tired, we want it over. We're using you to negotiate ourselves out of an old mess."

"But why me?" Elena asks as she is starting to get fed up of not knowing anything.

"Because you're a Petrova Doppelgänger. You're the key to breaking the curse." Rose says.

"The curse? The sun and the moon curse?" Elena asks.

Rose rolls her eyes, "Oh, you do know your history."

"What do you mean I'm the key? The moonstone is what breaks the curse." Elena says taking a few more steps towards Rose.

"No," Rose snaps, "The moonstone is what binds the curse. The sacrifice is what breaks it." Rose continues.

"The sacrifice?"

"The blood of the doppelgänger. You're the doppelgänger. Which means, in order to break the curse you're the one who has to die." Rose says not breaking eye contact with the doppelgänger.

Trevor walks into the room where Rose and Elena are in.

"Tell me more." Elena asks Rose.

Trevor walks towards the 2 girls "Captivity has made her pushy, eh? What do you want to know doppelicious?" Trevor says as he grabs a canvas and goes to block up another window, you can hear his skin burn as he does so.

"Who were you running from?" Elena repeats her questions to Trevor.

"The originals." Trevor says as he looks down to his hands to see that they have healed from the burns.

"Yeah, she said that. What does that mean?" Elena snaps at Trevor as she starts to get impatient.

"The first family, the old world." Trevor says as he kicks a book towards Elena, "Rose and I pissed them off." Trevor continues as he points towards Rose.

"Mm-hmm." Rose pipes up and shakes her head.

"Correction, I pissed them off, Rose had my back and for over half a millennium, they wanted us dead." Trevor says and he throws another book near Elena's feet.

Elena jumps, looks down at the book and then looks up to Trevor "What did you do?"

Rose scoffs, "He made the same mistake countless others did: he trusted Katerina Petrova."

"Katherine." Elena quietly says.

"Hm, the one and only, the first Petrova Doppelgänger." Rose says as she looks over to Trevor, she glances at Elena and then starts to walk out the room.

"I helped her escape her fate and now I've, sorry, we've been marked ever since." Trevor says as he points in the direction of Rose.

Rose turns around to look at Trevor and Elena, "Which is why we're not gonna make the same mistake again." She says and continues to walk out.

Trevor smirks and Elena and then follows Rose out of the room.

Elena walks over to the couch and notices some crumpled up paper underneath her foot which reads, "Salvatores are coming for you -B".

The three Salvatore siblings are still on the road, Lola is sat in the back sipping on a blood bag.

"We're getting close. Jeremy said there's an access road just past mile marker 6." Stefan says glances between the scenery outside and his brother.

Damon looks in his mirror at Lola drinking the blood bag and snatches it out of her hand.

"Hey asshole! You could have just asked you know?" Lola shouts at her brother.

Damon smirks at his little sister in the mirror and he casually looks over to Stefan who is staring at the blood bag.

"If you want some, just ask." Damon says to Stefan smirking.

"I want some." Stefan quickly responds.

"Ah, that's so sweet. You're gonna be all big and strong and save your girl but don't worry, I've got your back. It'll be fine." Damon sarcastically says.

"I'm not joking. I've been drinking a little every day. I'm slowly increasing my intake and building up my strength." Stefan says. Damon looks over to his brother and then hands him the blood bag and Stefan takes a little sip from it and hands the bag back over to Stefan.

"Does Elena know you're drinking blood?" Damon casually asks.

Stefan hesitates at first, "I've been drinking hers." He says.

Lola mimics borking "Hmm, how romantic." She sarcastically remarks.

Damon takes another sip of the blood, "Since we're road trip bonding, remember the days when all you lived for was blood? You were the guy who ripped someone apart just for the fun of it."

Damon passes the blood bag back over to Lola who takes another sip.

"You mean when I was more like the two of you?" Stefan asks glancing between both his siblings. Damon more so, but Lola does occasionally have a more evil side that comes out ever so often.

"Yes, Stefan, exactly. Back when you put blood into both of his siblings so we could be big bad vampires. I wonder if Elena would be so quick to open her veins to that guy. By the way, what happened to that guy? He was a hoot." Damon responds.

"I guess he found something else to live for." Stefan says looking over at Damon.

Damon glances over to Stefan and shrugs his shoulders then looks back onto the road.

Trevor rushes into the room where Rose and Elena are and he starts panicking.

"He's here! This was a mistake." Trevor shouts to Rose as rushes down the stairs.

"No, I told you I would get us out of this. You have to trust me." Rose reassures Trevor.

"No! He wants me dead, Rose!" Trevor snaps back.

Rose points over to Elena, "He wants her more."

"I can't do this. You give her to him, he'll have mercy on you but I need to get out of here." Trevor says as he continues to pace the room and panics.

Rose grabs Trevor's hands, "Hey! What are we?"

Trevor sighs and looks at Rose, "We're family, forever."

There is a loud knock at the door causing Trevor and Rose to freeze on the spot. Elena watching the way they are both acting, it's obvious whoever is coming it a threat.

"You're scared." Elena softly says to the pair.

Rose glances over to Elena and then back to Trevor, "Stay here with her and don't make a sound."

Trevor nods in agreement and Rose rushes out of the room towards the front door.

The front door slowly opens up and reveals Elijah waiting at the door. Elijah takes a few steps into the house as Rose comes down the stairs opposite the door.

"Rose-Marie. Is there somewhere we can talk?" Elijah calmly asks.

Rose sighs and smiles, "Yes, in here." She gestures to a room, "You have to forgive the house."

Elijah looks around the house, "Oh, no, what's a little dirt? I completely understand." He says and then he walks into the room, "So tell me, what is it that gives you the courage to call me?"

Elijah continues to walk into the room and Rose follows, Rose only takes a few steps into the room keeping her distance from the original.

"I wanted my freedom. I'm tired of running. You in a position to grant me that?" Rose asks the original.

"I have complete authority to grant pardon to you and your little pet. What is his name these days? Trevor. If I so see fit." Elijah states as he has his back to Rose and is looking around the dust infested room.

"Katerina Petrova?" Rose simply states.

Elijah slowly turns to face Rose, he glances up at her, "I'm listening." He says as he takes a seat on a nearby chair.

"She didn't burn in the church in 1864." Rose says.

Elijah looks up at Rose, "Continue."

"She survived."

Elijah quickly looks Rose up and down "Where is she?" He calmly asks.

Rose looks at Elijah confused, "You don't seem surprised by this."

"Oh, when you called and invited me into this armpit of civilization, which is a mere three hours from the town we know as Mystic Falls, I surmised it had everything to do with either Katerina or Charlotte Salvatore. Do you have Katerina in your possession?" Elijah asks.

"No, but I have better. I have her doppelgänger." Rose says as she slowly walks towards Elijah.

Elijah shakes his head, he isn't convinced, "That's impossible, her family line ended with her. I know that for fact."

"The facts are wrong." Rose quickly responds.

Elijah sits up in his seat, "Well, show her to me."

"Elijah, you are a man of honour, you should be trusted but I want to hear you say it again." Rose says as she walks closer to him.

Elijah stares at Rose as though he is thinking, "You have my word that I will pardon you."

"Follow me." Rose says as she walks out of the room and leads Elijah to the room where Elena and Trevor are in.

They arrive in the main room. Elena is pacing backwards and forwards, she hears them walk in and she glances up to them as she breathes heavily. Elijah stares at her for a moment and then vamp speeds over to her, this surprises Elena and causes her to stand back in shock.

Elijah is staring at Elena and he leans towards her and lowers his head to smell her neck. Elijah looks up and looks into the distance behind Elena, "Human, it's impossible." He mumbles to himself, he looks down at Elena and ever so slightly smiles, "Hello there."

Stefan, Damon and Lola have stopped the car off the road, not too far away from the house, but far away enough to not been seen straight away. Lola hands the bag with the weapons in over to Stefan, he places the bag over his shoulder and begins to walk away from the car.

"The house should be just beyond those trees." Lola says as she follows Stefan towards the house.

"Wait, I got a lot more experience than you do with those sorts of things." Damon says causing Stefan to stop walking and he turns back to his brother.

"So, what's your point?" Stefan says as he shrugs his shoulders.

"My point is, whoever has Elena is probably who was after Katherine in 1864 and before that." Damon says.

Stefan shrugs his shoulders again "And?"

"And it puts them at 500 years old and strong. Are you sure you want to do this?" Damon asks his brother.

"Yeah, I'm certain I want to do it." Stefan confidently states.

Lola claps her hands together and rubs them, "Okay let's do this."

Damon puts his arm out causing Lola to stop walking, she looks up at her brother with a raised eyebrow.

"No, you aren't going in with us, you're going to wait outside in case anyone is lurking around the house. We will shout you to come in if needed." Damon says to his sister.

Lola rolls her eyes and scoffs, "Wow! I am dangerous!" She sarcastically says to her brother.

Damon rolls his eyes at his sister and then looks over to Stefan, "If we go in that house, we may not come back out."

"Alright, then I won't come out." Stefan responds.

Lola rolls her eyes, "So noble, Stefan."

Stefan scoffs, "I can't think of a better reason to die," Stefan says looking at Lola, he looks over to Damon, "But if you want to stay here, I'll totally understand." He pats Damon on the shoulder and then continues to walk towards the house.

Lola laughs and follows Stefan, Damon playfully pushes his sister as she walks past him and then Damon follows.

Elijah takes a step towards Elena, causing her to take a step backwards.

"We have a long journey head of us. We should be going." Elijah says to Elena.

Elena looks over to Rose with tears in her eyes, "Please, don't let him take me." She pleads. Rose looks away from Elena.

"One last piece of business and we're done." Elijah says he then turns and walks towards Trevor.

Trevor takes a deep breath, "I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly, very sorry." Trevor begs.

Elijah starts to walk in a circle around Trevor as though he is circling his prey, "Oh no, your apology's not necessary." Elijah so calmly responds.

"Yes, yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you." Trevor says as he looks towards the ground.

"Oh yes, you are the guilty one and Rose aided you because she was loyal to you and that now I honour." Elijah says as he stops circling Trevor and glances up to Rose. Elijah looks back at Trevor with a smirk on his face, "Where was your loyalty?"

"I beg your forgiveness." Trevor pleads looking at Elijah.

"So granted." Elijah says with a hint of a smile.

Trevor smiles but before anything else can happen, Elijah smacks Trevor's head clean off his body, blood splatters everywhere. Rose cries out for her fallen friend grabbing her chest. Elena looks at the scene that has just unfolded in front of her in pure shock.

"You...!" Rose cries out as she walks down the steps towards Elijah.

"Don't, Rose, now that you are free." Elijah says not looking at Rose. Rose continues to cry out and stares down at Trevor's body.

Elijah looks over to Elena, he walks over to her and puts his hand out, "Come."

"No, what about the moonstone?" Elena spits out in a panic.

Elijah stops in his tracks and looks over to the doppelgänger, "What do you know about the moonstone?" He says with a blank expression.

"I know that you need it and I know where it is." Elena pleads.

Elijah nods his head, "Yes?"

"I can help you get it." Elena says with tears in her eyes.

"Tell me where it is." Elijah blankly asks.

Elena lightly shakes her head, "It doesn't work that way."

Elijah sighs and crosses his arms against his chest, "Are you negotiating with me?" He asks and then glances over to Rose.

"It's the first I've heard of it." Rose says through gritted teeth as she holds back her cries.

Elijah looks back over to Elena and tries to compel her but then he looks down and notices the vervain filled necklace around her neck.

"What is this vervain doing around your neck?" He spits out as he grabs the necklace and throws it away. He looks back at Elena, grabs her head and compels her, "Tell me where the moonstone is."

"In the tomb, underneath the church ruins." Elena responds in a monotone voice.

"What is it doing there?" Elijah continues to compel her.

"It's with Katherine." Elena says in the same monotone voice.

"Interesting." Elijah responds.

Suddenly broken glass can be heard from upstairs in the house, Elijah lets go of Elena and looks up to the ceiling. "What is that?"

"I don't know." Rose responds.

"Who else is in this house?" Elijah asks as he turns to Rose.

"I don't know." Rose repeats.

Elijah grabs Elena by the arm and drags her out of the room, they move up the stairs to go out of the room and Rose follows. Stefan and Damon are moving around them with their vamp speed, Lola is outside by the door listening to what is about to unfold.

Elijah throws Elena into Rose's arms and she now grabs hold of Elena.

"Rose?" Elijah says looking around the house.

"I don't know who it is." Rose pleads as she continues to hold onto Elena.

"Up here." Stefan says from upstairs. Elijah vamp speeds halfway up the stairs and looks around.

"Down here." Damon says from downstairs.

Elijah turns to face downstairs which he then gets stabbed in the hand with a stake. He looks down at his hand and removes it, when he looks up Elena and Rose have both disappeared.

Elena is pressed against the wall with Stefan in front of her motioning her to stay quiet. Damon is with Rose with his hand over her mouth who also motions telling Rose to stay quiet.

Lola is outside listening to whats happening, she gets a shock when she hears a familiar voice.

"Excuse me. To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that?" Elijah says with a cocky attitude. He walks over to the wooden coat rack and snaps it off.

"I repeat you cannot beat me." Elijah hits the coat rack against his knee causing it to break in to, he begins to rip the hooks off it to create a stake. "So I want the girl, I'm going to count to three, or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?"

The front door starts to open slowly and Lola is stood there smirking at Elijah with her arms crossed against her chest.

Elijah turns to see Lola stood there and he is shocked at first.

Lola walks into the house and approaches Elijah, "Nice to see you again Elijah, it's been a while, 1987 to be exact."

Elijah smirks back at Lola, "My my my, dearest Charlotte. How is it every time there is danger you are right in the front of it all?"

Lola laughs and it about to respond back but Elena appears at the top of the stairs causing Elijah to look over to Elena.

"I'll come with you, just please don't hurt my friends, they just wanted to help me out." Elena pleads with tears falling down her face.

Elijah glances at Lola and then looks back up to Elena and he vamp speeds up towards her with the stake in his hand, causing Elena to jump back in shock.

"What game are you playing with me?" Elijah asks as he tilts his face.

Elena glances over Elijah's shoulder to signal for Lola to move out the way. She pulls a vervain grenade from behind her arm and throws it in Elijah's face and it explodes. Elijah groans out in pain as his skin burns but he is healed immediately.

Elijah looks at Elena angry and walks up the stairs towards Elena, Stefan appears from no where and shoots Elijah multiple times with the compressed air weapon. It doesn't hurt Elijah at all, he continues to walk up the stairs towards Stefan.

Stefan throws the weapon to the side and rushes at Elijah and tackles him as they fall down the stairs. Elijah gets up immediately but Stefan is still on the floor struggling.

Elijah starts to walk towards Stefan but Damon appears and attacks Elijah with the makeshift stake Elijah made with the coat hook. Damon pushes Elijah against the door and pins him against it with the stake and Elijah starts to desiccate.

Rose appears from the shadows and Lola looks over to her in shock. "Rose?" Lola says softly. Rose looks over to Lola but then runs.

Damon is about to follow Rose but Elena shouts "Just let her go."

Damon looks up to Elena and smiles, Elena smiles down to and runs down the stairs. Damon is expecting Elena to run into his arms but he looks over and sees Stefan going towards the stairs and pulls Elena into an embrace.

"Hey come here. Are you hurt? Are you okay?" Stefan asks Elena as they both hug.

Lola looks over to her brother sympathetically and rubs her hand against his arm and he half smiles back to her.

Elena looks over Stefan's shoulder and looks at Damon and mouths "Thank you."

Damon nods and mouths back, "You're welcome."

As all four of them are walking back to the car, Damon and Stefan both glance at each other and nod, Damon speeds up behind Lola and injects her with enough vervain she will be out of it until the next morning.

Elena gasps at what's just happened, "Damon what the hell?!"

"Lola is hiding something, Elena. She knew that guy back there, and she knew Rose. We just need to find out what." Damon says as he picks up his sister and carries her towards the car.

"They mentioned her when I was in that house." Elena says as she stops walking.

Stefan and Damon also stop walking and look back at Elena, "What do you mean?" Stefan asks.

"They didn't say much, they just said how they were running from the originals and they were surprised that Lola had never mentioned anything about them." Elena explains.

"When you get home, you need to tell Bonnie to come over to the house and do a barrier spell. Lola isn't leaving her room until she explains what the hell kind of mess she has got herself into." Damon demands.

Elena nods her head and they all continue to walk to the car.

Back at the boarding house, Damon is stood by the drinks table and his pouring himself a bourbon. He takes a sip of it as Stefan walks into the room.

"Where's Elena?" Damon asks with his back to Stefan.

"She's home." Stefan responds.

Damon pulls a face and then turns to face Stefan, "And you're here why?"

"Because she wanted to be with Jeremy." Stefan says as he walks over to Damon with his hands in his pocket.

"Here." Damon says as he hand Stefan a glass of scotch.

Stefan smiles and grabs the glass from Damon and leans against the table behind him, "Thanks. Listen, um, what Rose told Elena about the curse..."

"I know, we'll keep her safe." Damon says with his back to Stefan as he pours a drink and takes a sip from it.

"How's Lola?" Stefan asks.

Damon turns to face his brother, "I put her to bed, although, she is going to be very pissed when she wakes up to find out she's trapped in her room."

Stefan sighs, "It has to be done. We need to know what she knows. Lola might know things to help us out in order to protect Elena. We all need to protect Elena."

Damon doesn't say anything he just nods and looks to the ground. He doesn't like what they have done to their sister, but they are worried sick about her. They just want to figure out what is going on with her, they want to help her. Damon just hopes that Lola can see that.

"You know, the only way we're gonna be able to do that is if we're not fighting each other. We let Katherine come between us. If we let that happen with Elena, we're not gonna be able to protect her." Stefan states.

Damon rolls his eyes, "Yes Stefan, I heard it all before." Damon downs the rest of his drink and places the glass on the table and begins to walk off.

"Hey." Stefan shouts up.

Damon stops walking and turns to him, "What?"

Stefan looks down and sighs, he looks back up at Damon, "I'm sorry."

Damon rolls his eyes again, "About what?"

"For being the guy who made you and Lola both turn 145 years ago." Stefan says calmly.

Damon pulls a face, "Enough Stef, it's late. Don't need to rehash that." Damon turns his back to continue to walk out.

Stefan stands up from the table he was leaning against and takes a few steps towards Damon, "You know what? I've never said it out loud. I guess I just need to say it and you need to hear it, so does Lola. I'm sorry. What I did was selfish. I didn't want to be alone. I guess I just needed my brother and sister."

Damon listens to what Stefan has to say with his back to him, he turns to look at Stefan once he finished speaking. Stefan smiles over to his brother and nods and then walks out the room.

Stefan is back in the library on his own having a drink. He hears a noise and a vampire is running around him. He looks around to see who it is, he grabs a stake and continues to look around.

"Who's there?" Stefan shouts out to the empty room.

Rose walks out from the darkness, "I'm not here to hurt you."

"Why are you here?" Stefan asks.

"Lexi once told me that you're one of the good ones." Rose says.

"You knew Lexi?" Stefan asks trying to hide the surprised expression on his face.

"Trevor was my best friend. For 500 years I have lived with one person and he's gone and I don't want to run anymore because I don't have anywhere else to run to." Rose says as she slowly walks towards Stefan.

Stefan sighs, "Well, I'm sorry but I can't help you."

"I don't need your help but I think you need mine. Elijah may be dead but this isn't over." Rose says as she walks closer to Stefan.

Stefan looks at Rose confused, "What do you mean "it's not over"?"

"It isn't over. The originals, they'll come for her. They have to. They're doing it for him." Rose says with a hint of panic in her voice.

"For who?" Stefan asks.

"Klaus." Rose says, she pauses, "And he will also be coming for your sister."

Flashback, San Fransisco - 1987:

Lola is walking through the busy crowd of a popular club, she is enjoying all the gazing stares she is getting from the men in the club. She smirks at all the whispers about her.

She makes her way to the bar and walks up to a raven haired guy in a leather jacket, he turns to face Lola with a smirk on his face, "Well played little sister." He hands her a drink.

Lola laughs, "Yeah well, I need to have a proper drink somehow. It's always fun to make the men think they have a chance with me before I rip their throats out."

Damon smirks at his sister and they clink their glasses together, "Cheers!" He says to his sister as they both take a sip of their drink.

Lola is dancing when a man comes up from behind her and starts to dance with her, Lola looks over to Damon who is dancing with a human girl, they both wink at each other.

Lola turns to face the man dancing with her and she smirks and dances with him for a while. He is putting his hands all over Lola's body which she is trying really hard not to snap his neck right here in front of everyone.

"So has a pretty girl like you gotta name?" The man says as he presses against Lola's ear.

Lola innocently smiles at the vulgar human, "My name is not important."

The mans smile vanishes and looks at Lola confused.

"You are going to follow me outside and not make a sound." Lola says as she compels the man.

She glances over to Damon who is smirking at her. She walks out of the club and the man follows her. She leads the man into a dark alley way besides the club.

"Don't move, don't scream." Lola says as she compels the man again.

Lola is smirking at the man and then her vamp features appear and she digs her teeth into his neck and starts to drain him of all his blood. She can hear his heartbeat slowing down.

"Ahem." A man coughs snapping Lola out of her blood lust. She pulls her head away from the man's neck to see who is bothering her. She looks over and spots a familiar face, shock horror, in a suit.

Lola smiles and drops the man to the floor leaving him to die. "Elijah Mikaelson."

Elijah smiles at Lola, "Charlotte, it's been too long." He says as he approaches Lola and hands her a handkerchief to wipe away the blood from the corner of her mouth.

"You know my brother is inside, I'd appreciate it if you just told me what you want before he comes out and sees you." Lola says cutting to the chase.

Elijah laughs at the girl's bluntness, "He knows you're here."

Lola's smirk drops from her face and stares at Elijah blankly, "And my guess is that he sent you here to see if it's true and take me with you to him." She says as she crosses her arms against her chest.

"In so many words, yes." Elijah calmly states.

Lola scoffs and rolls her eyes.

"You aren't hiding very well, Charlotte. The body count it slowly piling up here in San Fransisco and it leads directly to you and your brother." Elijah continues.

"Come on, I'm just having fun with my big brother." Lola playfully says.

"This is wrong Charlotte, you know that."

Lola rolls her eyes, "How come whenever I have fun, it's considered wrong?"

"And what of the four men you have killed just tonight alone?" Elijah states.

Lola breathes in through gritted teeth and squints towards Elijah, "Slip of the hand?"

Elijah rolls his eyes and sighs, "You need to leave here and hide some place else, or I'll have no choice but to tell my brother of your whereabouts."

Lola stares up at the original and takes in his appearance, she looks at him with a blank expression, "Have you had a hair cut?"

Elijah looks at Lola with a raised eyebrow and his mouth open as though he is going to reply with something but then ignores what he is about to say, he sighs and looks over at Lola with a blank expression, "Yes."

Lola looks at Elijah and raises her eyebrows and pouts, "Hm, it's nice."

"Enough with the distractions, Charlotte. I agree to not disclose your location to my brother, only if you vacate this city and find somewhere else, and hide better this time." Elijah says as he fixes his suit and buttons up the front.

Lola leans her head backwards and looks up to the night sky and sighs, she looks back over to Elijah, "You promise?"

"I give you my word." Elijah says not breaking eye contact from Lola, then all of a sudden he vanishes.

Lola sighs, she looks down at the dead man at her feet. She shrugs her shoulders and makes her way over to sit on the beach. She always loves to just sit on the sand and listen to the waves, it always calms her down.

Why must he always find her when she is happy? How is she going to explain to Damon she needs to leave? She can't tell him the real reason because Damon being Damon will refuse and not let her leave and end up getting himself killed in the process.

Lola is snapped out of her day dream when he brother approaches her and sits next to her in the sand.

"I figured when I seen the body of that guy in the alley but no you that you would be here." Damon says as he takes a seat next to his sister.

Lola looks over to Damon and smiles but doesn't say anything else then turns to face the ocean again.

Damon knew exactly what was happening, he sighed, "You're leaving aren't you?"

Lola looks down at her lap and starts to play with her hands and is digging her nail into the skin on her thumb. Damon looks down to see Lola doing that and he grabs her hands to stop her doing it, she looks up at him with tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry, I have to." Lola says as the tears start falling down her cheeks.

Damon sighs and looks at his sister sympathetically and rubs away her tears, "I'll come with you."

Lola looks over to her brother in shock, "What?"

"I'll come with you. We haven't been reunited for very long and I'm not ready to split up again, so wherever you go, I'll go." Damon says smiling down at his sister.

Lola smiles back and leans her head on Damon's shoulder and he wraps his arm around her shoulder and pulls her in for a hug.
