The Sun Also Rises

LOLA POV:

"What do you mean Klaus took her?" I question Stefan.

"I mean he's took her, Lola." Stefan snaps at me, "What do you want me to say?"

I glare over at him, "Hey, don't take this out on me!" I glare over to Stefan, he looks away with immediate regret for snapping like that. I sigh as I regret speaking to him like that also, "Look, we can still stop this. I'll call Elijah."

"No need." Alaric says, I turn to face him as he looks out of the window in the door, "He's already here."

All of us head outside to meet Elijah, we get in Alaric's car and head to the old witches house to see Bonnie.

"The sacrifice is completed in stages as the full moon sets." Elijah explains as we all get out of the car and walk towards the witches house, "First the werewolf is killed, then the vampire. Finally the doppelgänger. Once Elena dies, the curse will be broken. Klaus will become hybrid."

Alaric stops walking, "So when do we attack?"

We all then stop walking, Elijah turns to face us all, "Elena's death will activate his dormant werewolf side. He'll be vulnerable during the transformation. That's when Bonnie comes in."

"And you're sure Bonnie will survive this?" Stefan asks, still not totally convinced Bonnie is going to be okay after this.

Elijah nods, "If she can deliver him to the brink of death, I'll finish the job myself." I look over to Elijah to try and figure out if I believe him or not, for some reason I just have a feeling he isn't going to do it. Let's just hope I'm wrong.

Stefan's phone starts to ring, he walks away from the rest of us and answers it, "Damon." I look over confused so I start to listen in to the call.

"You're not going to like what I'm about to say."

"Cut to the chase." Stefan snaps, "Is the sacrifice happening or not?"

"It's happening. I tried to stop it, but it got...complicated."

"We're sticking with the original plan." Stefan explains, "We're meeting Bonnie right now."

"He's got Jenna, Stefan."

My heart stops for a second, "What?" Stefan responds, he turns to face all of us looking just as shocked as I am.

"He got Katherine to lure her out of the house."

I look to the ground and shake my head in disbelief, "No. This can't be happening."

Alaric glances between me and Stefan, "What is it? What's wrong?"

"He's going to use her as the vampire in the ritual."

I exhale deeply as I turn my back on everyone, running my hands through my hair, trying to get my head around everything Damon has just said, "Oh my god."

Alaric looks at me desperate, "Will someone tell me what's going on?!"

Stefan sighs, "Klaus has Jenna."

Alaric is taken aback for a second, "What?"

I sigh as I walk back over to them, "He's going to use her in the sacrifice."

Alaric shakes his head, "No, he can't do that. She not a-"

He looks at Stefan and I, our faces giving him the answer he didn't want. He sighs, "She's a vampire isn't she?"

I nod, "You need to go in there and tell Jeremy. It's best for this information to come from you."

Alaric hesitates at first, but eventually he walks into the witches house to speak to Jeremy.

I throw my hands in the air and look over to Elijah irritated, "What do we do now?!"

Stefan sighs, "I've got an idea."

I gesture him to speak, "Well, please, tell the rest of the group."

"I'll offer myself up to replace Jenna." Stefan suggests with no emotion on his face.

I open my mouth to argue back, but I'm speechless, all I can do is laugh. When Stefan's emotion doesn't change, it hits, the laughter fades as I start to shake my head, "No! No! No way! That's not happening!"

"Yes it is, Lola. It's happening." Stefan says as he avoids eye contact with me.

"What kind of sister am I going to be if I let you do this?! No, end of story, this is not going to happen!" I step closer to Stefan and put a hand on his face to make him look at me, I'm giving my classic older sister serious look, "I won't let you!"

Stefan sighs as he removes my hand from his face, he places his hands on my arms, "I can't let Elena lose her aunt."

My eyes start to fill as I look into Stefan's eyes trying to plead with him, "I can't lose my brother."

Stefan smiles as he wipes a stray tear falling down my face, "You'll have Damon."

I laugh as I shake my head, "Please! Damon and I will end up killing each other without you being here." I cup his cheeks with both my hands, "Please, please don't do this, Stefan."

Stefan says nothing as he removes my hands once more, keeping hold of them. I try to calm my erratic breathing down from sobbing so much, I look back up at Stefan who has tears forming in his eyes, I smile up at him weakly, "You're not going to change your mind, are you?"

Stefan says nothing, he shakes his head slightly. I bite my lip to try and stop myself from crying even more as I nod. Stefan pulls me in a hug, I burrow my head into his neck and cry even harder. The thought of not having my baby brother here with me breaks my heart.

I pull away from the hug when I hear footsteps approaching us, it's Bonnie, she looks at us all confused, "What's going on?"

I sigh and turn my back to them all as I wipe away my tears. Stefan is the one to speak up first, "Klaus has Jenna."

"Why did he take Jenna?" Bonnie asks in a frustrated tone.

"A punishment for meddling." Elijah responds.

"Klaus was going to use Tyler and Caroline." Stefan explains, "But Damon rescued them."

"Then we need to go. Now." Bonnie says sternly, "Before Jenna's been sacrificed. I can kill Klaus myself."

I turn to face them all again and look over to Bonnie, "Bonnie...If you use that much power, you'll be dead."

"Lola's right." Stefan says agreeing with me, "We've already been through this. It's not an option."

Bonnie scoffs, "Neither is letting Jenna die."

"Well, Stefan would agree with you." Elijah points out.

Bonnie looks at us all confused, when she looks at me, I turn away from her again to try and hold back yet more tears.

Stefan sighs as he walks up to Bonnie, "We're going to offer another vampire. One that he'll want more. Me."

Bonnie looks up at Stefan confused, "You can't do that."

I walk over to them and sigh, "Believe me Bonnie, I've already tried to talk him out of it. Can you do a locator spell so we know where the ritual is happening?"

Bonnie agrees to do the locator spell. I head into the witches house with her while she performs the spell, she figures out that the ritual is happening at Steven's Quarry.

I head back outside, I see Stefan and Elijah standing at a distance from the house, "Bonnie did the locator spell. They're at Steven's Quarry." I shout over to them, I stay standing in my spot as they both talk, but can't help myself to listen in.

Stefan nods, he looks over to Elijah, "I'll head over there first and you'll follow with Bonnie when it's time."

"Just as the moon hits its final phase." Elijah states, "She's to stay hidden until then. He cannot know that she's alive."

Stefan nods and begins to walk towards me. "You're very honourable." Elijah says as he turns to face Stefan.

Stefan turns back around, looks at Elijah, and walks back towards him, "Are you? Because this whole plan is, um, it's contingent upon your honour, Elijah."

"I won't fail you." Elijah responds bluntly.

"Klaus is your brother." Stefan points out, not totally convinced, "I know I've wanted to kill my brother a thousand times. I've never been able to."

"Well, Klaus was not my only brother." Elijah begins to explain, "I had siblings; parents. I had a family. Over the centuries, Klaus hunted them down one by one and he took them from me. He scattered them across the seas where their bodies could not be found."

My heart sinks when I remind myself about what Klaus has done to Rebekah and Kol. Not only have I lost them, now I'm going to be losing one of my brothers.

"You want revenge." Stefan remarks.

"Sometimes there's honour in revenge, Stefan." Elijah says, he turns to face me and smiles, he turns to face Stefan again, "I won't fail you."

"Please end this." Stefan pleads. He walks away from Elijah and walks over to me.

I step towards him as he does to me, we're both smiling sadly at each other, we rush over and drag each other into a tight hug, "I love you so much, Stefan."

We pull away from the hug, Stefan smiles at me, he kisses me on the forehead, "I love you too." And in that second, he was gone.

Standing on my own, I cry even more as I bury my face in my hands. I feel a hand on my shoulder, I look up and see Elijah staring at my sympathetically, I wipe my tears away and plaster a fake smile, "I'm fine, Elijah. I just need a minute alone."

Elijah nods, "I understand." He begins to walk away.

I turn to face him, "Will you tell me when Damon gets here, please?" Elijah nods and continues to walk away.

I head further into the woods to wrap my head around what's just happened. My baby brother, my sweet brother is being selfless like he always is and sacrificing himself for the girl he loves. We've only just made amends again and now I'm going to lose him. He doesn't even remember the first time we made amends back in the twenties, Klaus made him forget and I had to pretend it never happened. Not just for my safety, but for his. I would like to think Klaus wouldn't accept the change due to his history with my brother, but who knows with him. I slump down one of the trees and bring my knees up to my chest as I sit on the ground, feeling numb.

It's not even been 10 minutes before Elijah comes to find me, "Damon's arrived." Elijah says as he offers his hand to me to help me up.

"Right." I stand up and walk alongside Elijah back towards the house, "Does he know?"

"He knows about Stefan, yes." Elijah states, "Alaric is in there now speaking to him about it."

I glance over to Elijah, "Are you sure you're going to be able to do this?"

Elijah stops walking and looks over to me, "Are you going to be able to do this, Charlotte?"

I look over to Elijah with nothing but a blank expression, "My brother is going to die in this ritual, I couldn't give a shit about Klaus at this point."

We approach the house and I hear a crash so I vamp speed inside, to see Damon and Alaric standing in the hallway. Damon is looking distressed, I'm guessing he has just learnt about Stefan and he hasn't took it will considering there's a hole in the wall next to him.

He looks up at me, face full of worry, "Lola." He rushes over to me and pulls me in for a hug.

"Hey." I say softly as we pull away from the hug.

He cups my cheeks, looking me up and down as though I've been hurt, "Are you okay?"

I push his hands away from me and flash a smile, "Damon, I'm fine. Lets just get this over with." I walk further into the house and walk down into the basement to see Bonnie, Damon follows.

We get down to the basement where Bonnie and Jeremy are, John is there too. As we walk in everyone glances over to us. I clap my hands together, "So, have we found anything?"

"We found something in the Gilbert journals." Bonnie states.

"Johnathan journaled the story of a mother who called on Emily's services." John begins to explain, "The woman's baby was sick; dying. Emily cast a spell that would bind the woman's life force with her child."

"Skip to the save Elena part." Damon snaps growing impatient.

John hesitates for a moment but continues, "Well, the child died, but the mother's life force flowed through her, restoring her to life."

"We already know Elena's going to come back to life." Jeremy points out, "But she'll be a vampire." Wow, 2 points to Little Gilbert for stating the obvious.

"Not if her soul remains intact." John corrects him.

Okay, yeah I'm not buying any of this.

Damon looks just as skeptical as I am, "Her soul, really? You're going to put your faith in some act of god mumbo jumbo?"

John walks forward, closing the gap between Damon, me and himself, "I refuse to let Elena become the thing I've spent my life protecting her against. And you can call that God or mystical energy, whatever you want, but yes...I'm putting my faith in it."

John turns around and walks back towards Bonnie. He kneels down on the floor in front of Bonnie and bows his head as Bonnie begins to chant the spell.

Damon soon grows impatient, he starts to snap his fingers, "Come on, Bonnie, we got a hybrid to kill."

Jeremy looks back at Damon, signalling with his hand for Damon to be tolerant of the situation, a.k.a telling him to stop being a dick. Not long after that, Bonnie opens her eyes, "It's done."

"That's it? Let's go." I say as I start to walk out the room and Damon follows me as does Bonnie.

"I'll be back soon." Bonnie says as she walks towards Jeremy. Damon and I both stop, waiting for Bonnie.

Jeremy reaches out to her, stopping her from going any further, "Wait, what do you mean? No, I'm coming. I need to be there. I need to make sure you guys are okay."

"And who's going to make sure you're okay?" Bonnie retorts.

"I've got my own ring." Jeremy says as he holds up his hand that has the Gilbert ring, "Look, I'm not taking no for an answer."

Ugh, I wish he would just be put to sleep for the night or something, I groan growing just as impatient as Damon is, "Okay, that's enough. We don't need Shaggy to be joining us on this Scooby Doo journey, you'll only slow us down, Gilbert."

Jeremy glares over to me, causing me to laugh slightly. Bonnie kisses Jeremy goodbye. She pulls away and Jeremy smiles at her. Suddenly, Jeremy looks at her, confused, and starts to fall to the floor. John grabs him and leads him back to a chair, "Easy, easy." John looks up to Bonnie, "Just go. I'll stay with him."

Bonnie looks at Jeremy one last time before walking towards Damon and I, I laugh at the little things the witch has learnt, "Nice job, Bonnie. You read my mind." We all walk out from the basement and head upstairs.

Upstairs, Alaric and Elijah wait until they hear us walk up the stairs, "It's time." Elijah says as he follows us all out the door.

"All right. I got the weapons in the car." Alaric says as he follows us.

"Bonnie's the only weapon we need." Elijah states. Elijah walks out the doorway.

Alaric follows behind him but when he tries to exit the house, he finds that an invisible barrier is blocking him in, he looks over to Bonnie confused, "Bonnie! What is this?"

Bonnie stops and looks back at him, "I can't put anyone else at risk."

"I can't stay here with Jenna out there!" Alaric argues back.

Bonnie looks over to Alaric sympathetically, "I'm sorry."

"You can't do this!" Alaric shouts, he looks over desperately to Damon, "Damon?"

Damon smiles awkwardly, "Sorry, buddy. She's right."

All of us start to walk away, leaving Alaric trapped in the house, "No! You can't do this. Bonnie! Bonnie!" Alaric shouts out as he angrily hits the doorframe.

3RD PERSON POV:

Meanwhile, at the Quarry. Elena and Jenna have just found out that Stefan wants to take Jenna's place in the ritual. Elena is pacing around the ring of fire she is trapped in, panicking.

"Elena..." Jenna coos, trying to help Elena calm down.

"I have to do something." Elena says panicking, "This can't happen. None of it."

Klaus and Stefan have come down from the cliff top and approach Elena and Jenna, Quite the predicament." Klaus begins, "You know, it's funny, all this talk about preserving family, and here's Stefan, granting your wish."

Elena looks over to Stefan, her eyes showing nothing but sadness, "Stefan..."

Stefan smiles over to Elena, "It's okay."

"Well." Klaus says, he points the stake he is holding between Jenna and Stefan, "Who's it going to be, Elena?"

Elena glares at Klaus and shakes her head, "No."

"Oh, don't worry." Klaus assures her, "There's actually no choice." Klaus vamp speeds around Stefan and stakes him in the back. Stefan falls to the floor as he screams in pain.

"No! Stefan! No!" Elena shouts.

Klaus rips the stake out of Stefan's back, leaving a sizeable chunk of wood in his back, "I have other plans for your boyfriend. I want him alive. But for now..." Klaus snaps Stefan's neck, causing Stefan to fall to the ground. Elena gasps in shock as tears stream down her face.

Klaus looks over to Greta who is standing by a bowl, full of fire, "Whenever you're ready, Greta."

Greta begins chanting the next part of the spell which dispels the ring of fire surrounding Jenna. Jenna looks on, frightened. Elena, teary-eyed, watches on, "No."

"Your turn." Klaus says as he approaches Jenna.

"No, Jenna, no!" Elena cries out, she attempts to get to Jenna, but the fire around her flares up.

Jenna looks over to Elena, "It's alright, Elena. I know what I have to do." After a moment of shared silence between Jenna and Elena, Jenna vamp speeds to Greta and bites her neck, Greta screams.

Klaus vamp speeds over to Jenna and stakes her in the back, pulling her off Greta, who has fallen to the floor. Jenna gasps in pain as Klaus releases her and she falls to the floor.

Elena is stood watching all of this unfold, crying, "Jenna, no!"

Jenna looks up at Elena, tears in her eyes. Elena continues to sob as she looks over to her aunt, "Just turn it off. Jenna. Turn it off. You won't be scared anymore."

Klaus flips Jenna over onto her back and hunches over her. Jenna seems less frightened when Klaus stakes her in the heart.

"No! Jenna!" Elena cries out, "No! Jenna!"

Jenna's body starts to become grey and decayed. Klaus releases the stake from his grip and stands up. Jenna lays lifeless on the stone with the stake through her heart.

Greta begins chanting the next part of the spell. Klaus is by her side. Stefan wakes up and feels the piece of wood in his back. He tries to reach it but is not flexible enough to do so. Stefan looks up at Elena and sees her tear streaked cheeks. He looks over towards Greta and sees Jenna's dead body with the stake in her chest, "No."

Greta pours Jenna's blood into the ceremonial bowl.

Stefan looks over to Elena, "I'm so sorry."

Elena places her finger to her lips and shushes Stefan, "Are they going to kill him?" Elena whispers.

Stefan nods and mouths, "Yes."

Elena looks up and glares over to Klaus as he approaches her, "It's time."

The circle of fire disappears from around Elena. Elena looks up at him. Klaus extends his hand towards her. Elena gets up from the ground and walks past Klaus, ignoring him. Elena makes her way to the altar and looks down at Jenna's body. Klaus follows her up to the altar and grabs Elena's face in his hand. Below them, Stefan struggles to get up from the ground. Klaus turns Elena's face so she is looking at him, "Thank you, Elena."

"Go to hell." Elena says through gritted teeth as she glares at him.

Stefan continues to struggle up, but falls back to the ground, too weak to move. Elena stares out, blankly, as Klaus sinks his fangs into her neck and starts to drain Elena of her blood. Stefan watches on, helplessly. Klaus holds Elena tightly as his eyes starts to sprout more veins. Elena's eyelids flutter and her eyes roll into the back of her head and she dies.

Klaus releases her and Elena falls to the ground. Blood drips from Klaus' mouth and the flame in the bowl is extinguished. Elena's body lays lifeless and Stefan stares at her, sadly, and lowers his head to the ground. Klaus breathes heavily and walks down the stone steps, "I can feel it. It's happening." Klaus looks up at the full moon. Suddenly, his bones begin to crack and he starts to transform. His eyes are yellow like a werewolf's, but he still has the veins under them, like a vampire, "Yes, yes!"

Suddenly, Klaus is thrown through the air. The flames in the bowl reignite, startling Greta. Greta hears and sees Bonnie coming down the hillside, chanting a spell.

Before Greta can react, Lola sneaks up behind her and snaps her neck. Lola smirks down at the witches body, "Bitch." She mutters. Her smirk disappears when she looks down to see Jenna's desiccated corpse laying on the stone. Damon walks up behind Lola and picks Elena up, they both look over across the Quarry to see Stefan on the floor struggling to get up.

"No! You were dead!" Klaus shouts out as he is on the floor screaming in pain. Bonnie continues to chant her spell. Klaus' body contorts into painful shapes as he screams.

LOLA POV:

Damon and I both rush over to aid Stefan, Damon carries Elena's body towards Stefan and lays her down next to him. Stefan gently grabs her arm. I rush over to Stefan and rip the remainder of the stake out of Stefan's back, he groans in pain as I do this.

"Elena." Stefan mumbles as he looks over to Elena's body laying beside him.

I grab Stefan's shoulder, to help him up, but Stefan turns and looks up at me, grabbing a hold of my coat to steady himself. He looks over to Damon, "I need you to get her out of here!"

"What about you?" Damon shouts over the thunder and lightening that has formed because of Bonnie's spell.

"I'm not leaving until he's dead." Stefan shouts, "Go!"

Damon hesitates for a second, he glances up at me, "Go! I'll stay with him." I assure him.

Damon picks up Elena's body and carries her away. I help Stefan to sit up. Bonnie continues to chant the spell which is so powerful it causes trees to fall. Klaus screams in pain, lying against the rocks.

Elijah slowly approaches Klaus and Bonnie stops chanting. Klaus looks at his brother, startled, "Elijah?"

"Hello, brother." Elijah says as he looks down at Klaus struggling on the floor.

I've helped Stefan get up, his wound has now healed so he is able to maintain his balance as we walk towards Bonnie. Klaus looks over to me with tears in his eyes, "Lola, please." He pleads, I bow my head to avoid eye contact with him. I can't let him get in my head.

Elijah punches his arm into Klaus' chest, grabbing a hold of his heart, "In the name of our family, Niklaus..." I jump and step back slightly, it all seemed so straight forward until I am actually watching everything unfold.

Elijah twists Klaus' heart, he is just about to rip it out of his chest, "I didn't bury them at sea!" Klaus blurts out.

Elijah looks at his brother, dumbfounded, "What?" I gasp in shock at his comment, what the hell did he just say?!

"Their bodies are safe." Klaus says as he struggles to breathe, "If you kill me, you'll never find them."

"Elijah!" Stefan shouts, Elijah looks towards us, "Don't listen to him."

"Elijah. I can take you to them." Klaus says, still crippled in pain on the floor, "I give you my word...brother."

Elijah appears to be having second thoughts about killing his brother. I try to take a few steps forward but Stefan reaches his arm out, stopping me from doing so, "Elijah!" I shout out, he glances over to me, "You know I would love nothing more than that to be true, but we can't trust him!" Klaus glances over to me looking hurt I said that, but it's true. I can't trust a word Klaus says these days.

"Do it and I'll take you both out." Bonnie threatens.

"You'll die." Elijah points out.

Bonnie glares over to them both, "I don't care."

Elijah looks down at Klaus and back up at all us, making direct eye contact with me, "I'm sorry."

We all run towards them, "NO!"

Before any of us can get to them, Elijah grabs Klaus and speeds off, completely vanishing.

It's daytime now, it's time for Jenna's funeral. Also John's, the spell Bonnie cast on him worked, he sacrificed his life for his daughter. I may not have liked John and only met him a handful of times, but I admired him for what he did. By some miracle, Elena never became a vampire; she was able to stay human.

Stefan is already at Elena's, he's stayed with her ever since last night, comforting her. Damon and I are at the cemetery, Damon is compelling some grave diggers to dig graves for both Jenna and John on the sly. This funeral needs to happen with as few people knowing as possible.

I stayed in the car while Damon done that. I feel so numb after last night. I can't believe Elijah would betray us all like this. But, a part of me understands him for doing that. If, and that's a big if. If Klaus is telling the truth, then Rebekah and Kol are safe, somewhere.

Damon gets back in the car, but neither of us say a word. There's something Damon is hiding from me, but I really don't have the energy to be dealing with anymore drama right now. He drives us over to Elena's house.

We both head up the stairs towards the front door, Damon opens the door but I stay standing outside, he looks over to me confused, "Are you coming in?"

"No, I'm going to stay out here." I say as I smile softly over to him. He smiles back at me and nods, he continues to walk into the house and I go and sit on the little swing that is attached to the house.

3RD PERSON POV:

Stefan is waiting downstairs as Damon walks in and walks towards him. Stefan smiles slightly at his brother, "We all set?"

"Yeah. Plenty of room with the Gilbert family plot and I compelled two of the grave diggers to do the dirty work." Damon explains, he gestures to upstairs, where Elena is getting ready, "How's she doing?"

Stefan's face drops, his eyebrows lower, "She lost the only parents she had. She's in shock."

Damon nods, "Yeah."

Stefan glances outside to see Lola sitting on the porch swing through the window, "Why didn't Lola come inside?"

Damon smiles sadly at his brother, "She's in shock too."

LOLA POV:

"Lola." Caroline says, pulling me out of my daze.

I smile up at her, "Caroline, hey."

She walks over to me and sits besides me on the swing, "You look exhausted."

I laugh at her being so straight forward, "A night like last night will do that to you. Was everything okay with you when I left?"

Caroline's face drops, "Uh, Matt broke up with me."

I sigh as I look over to her with my face full of sympathy, "Aw, Caroline. I'm so sorry."

Caroline's eyes start to fill with tears, "He just couldn't handle me being a vampire, I guess."

I shift in my seat so I can face her better, I grab her hands, "Listen to me. One day, you're going to meet someone who appreciates you for who you are. I mean there's 7 billion people on the planet! I know one of them, is going to climb up on the moon for you."

She looks over to me, smiling as tears fall down her face, "You really think so?"

I smile as I wipe the tears from her face, "I really do."

Everyone else walks out of the house ready to get this all over with. We all get in different cars and head over to the cemetery.

I walk through the cemetery, linking arms with Damon. Stefan has his hand in the small of Elena's back and leads her to the gravesite of Jenna and John. Elena has four roses clutched in her hands. She kneels down and places two roses on a grave plot. I try to hold back the tears as best as I can, Jenna was such an amazing person, she didn't deserve this one bit.

Teary-eyed, Elena approaches her parent's graves. She looks down at the tombstone, kneels, and places the remaining two roses on their graves. Damon breaks away from me and begins to walk away. Elena looks up at him and stands, still crying.

Alaric walks towards Jenna's grave and places a rose on her plot. He stares down at her grave, sadly, before walking away. I can't help but let the tears fall down my face as I watch Alaric heartbroken. He squeezes Jeremy's arm gently and walks to the back of the group. He walks over to me and I link his arm and rest against him as he pulls me in and hugs me.

Everyone eventually starts to walk away one by one. Stefan and I look over to Damon who is standing some distance away from the rest of us. We walk over to approach him, I lightly place my hand on his arm, "Hey, we're going to head back to the house."

"I think I'll skip the coffee and tea cakes." Damon says not even facing either of us. I step away and take a few steps back so I'm beside Stefan.

Stefan sighs, "Damon, she needs us right now. All of us."

Damon scoffs still with his back to us, "And then what's the plan, Stefan? The curse is broken. How does one go about killing an all-powerful wolf vamp and his two-faced older brother?" I look away as he mentioned Klaus and Elijah, a wave of guilt flows through me, feeling like I am partly to blame also.

Stefan shrugs, "I have no idea."

Damon turns to face us both, "We need to get an idea. Fast."

"I'm not going to let Elena lose anybody else." Stefan says sternly.

"I wouldn't make any promises, brother." Damon says as he starts to lift his shirt sleeve.

I look over to him confused, "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Tyler Lockwood bit me." Damon says as he pulls up his sleeve, revealing a big red bite on his arm.

I gasp at the sight of the bite, I walk over and grab his arm and look up at him with my eyes full of anguish, as is Stefan's.

Damon looks down at the bite, "It's actually more of a nip, really, but there it is."

Stefan takes Damon's arm and examines the bite, "We'll find something. A cure."

Damon scoffs, "There's no cure, Stefan."

"We don't know that for sure, Damon." I assure him.

We all look off across the graveyard, towards Elena. Stefan looks back at Damon, "We kept Elena human, right? We found the way when there was no way. Hey." Damon turns his head and faces Stefan, "We will do this."

"You want to do something for me?" Damon states, "Keep this from Elena. Last thing she needs is another grave to mourn."

Damon grips Stefan's shoulder and walks away. Stefan and I watch him as he leaves. Both of our faces filled with torment. I almost lost one brother last night, I can't risk losing another today. I look over to Stefan as we both have tears in our eyes, "We're gonna find something."

Stefan sighs, "We won't stop until we do."
