Daddy Issues

LOLA POV:

I barely got any sleep last night, the image of Rose dead just kept playing in my head. I always try to not get upset seeing someone die, being alive for over 100 years would do that to you. But Rose did not deserve that, she was one of the good ones.

I get out of bed and sort myself out, I get in a hot shower and change into some black jeans and a khaki coloured jumper. I can hear Damon getting up too and then I hear his shower turn on. I figured I'd be a nice sister and go and make him some coffee and bring it up for him.

As soon as I finish making the coffee, I can hear Damon's shower shut off. I make my way up to his bedroom and knock on his door. See that? I knocked. If only my brothers knew how to do that.

"Come in." Damon says from inside.

I open the door and peek my head through with my eyes shut, "Are you decent?"

Damon sighs, "Yes Lola. I'm decent."

I walk fully in and open my eyes, my ass he is fully decent, the dude just has a towel wrapped round him, but it's better than nothing I guess.

"See what I did there?" I ask as I walk over to Damon and give him his coffee.

He looks at me confused.

I smile, "Well, I made you a coffee, I knocked on your door before coming in and also asked if you were decent before opening my eyes. You see what I'm getting at? Maybe you should try it next time you walk into my bedroom."

Damon looks over to me and smiles, "Noted."

My attention goes to his TV where a news reporter is talking about the couple who Rose killed last night.

"The authorities believe last night's assailant may also be related to the missing campers and park ranger who have yet to be found, as well as 25-year-old Jessica Koenig, reported missing this morning. The sheriff's department says investigations are pending and no further comment will be made. In related news Mayor Lockwood spoke earlier today..."

I look over to Damon who I can tell is still pretty cut up about last night, "You okay?"

Damon looks over to me and flashes a fake smile, "Peachy."

It's literally impossible for Damon to speak about his feelings, I can't be bothered to get into another argument about it all so I just leave him to it and I go up to speak to Stefan.

Again, I knock, it's really not that hard to be polite.

Stefan opens his door and smiles at me, "Hey, come in."

Stefan opens his door wider letting me walk in, "How you doing?" He asks.

I take a seat on his bed and sigh, "I'm okay, just one of those things isn't it?"

Stefan walks over and sits next to me, "It's okay to be upset about it you know. I know you knew Rose in the 40s, you were friends."

I shrug my shoulders, "I only knew her for like a month. I'm over it. You know me Stef, I give myself a few hours to be upset and then just move on. What's the point in holding onto things from the past."

I start to think about Klaus. I say there's no point in holding onto things from the past yet I just can't seem to let go of all the memories I have with him. Well, with Nik, not Klaus. Nik was fun, kind and sweet yet still had a devilish side to him which made me get all excited. But, Klaus is just nothing but evil and I can't help but think I'm the reason he turned back into the evil, big bad vampire persona I teased him about all those years ago.

Stefan puts his hand onto my arm, "Lola."

I jump out of my daze and look over to him and smile, "Sorry. Um, anyway, tell me. What happened with you yesterday when you vanished? Did you find Isobel?"

Stefan stands up, "Not exactly." He looks back over to me, "I found John Gilbert."

I look up at him confused, "Elena's biological father? Isn't he the one who helped in that plot to kill vampires months ago? The same plot where you and Damon were almost killed?!"

Stefan sighs, "Yeah but here me out. He said he can help us with Klaus."

Before I can reply, Damon is walks in after listening to what we were talking about.

"You brought back John Gilbert? That was your big "Save Elena" move?" Damon says in a pissed tone as he walks through the door.

Stefan looks over to Damon with his arms crossed against his chest, "I went to go look for Isobel, and I get John instead. He said he can help us, and we're desperate."

Damon scoffs, "We're not that desperate, Stefan. The guy tried to barbecue me!"

"Damon, Bonnie's new witch friend is working with Elijah, so we have to assume that the moonstone was never destroyed . Elena is putting all of her faith into some deal that she made with Elijah to keep everyone safe. I mean, do you trust Elijah? I don't trust him. He's an Original, he can't be trusted. It's not like we can just go up and kill him, because apparently, he can't die!" Stefan explains as Damon is pacing around the bedroom.

Stefan looks over to me still sat on the bed, "Do you trust him?"

I stand up and walk over to my brothers and shrug my shoulders, "I don't know. I want to, because Elijah is a man of honour, he does keep to his word. But, what he is promising is a big deal and I don't know if he will keep his word this time."

Stefan looks back over to Damon and smiles smugly, "See? Even Lola who has history with Elijah can't fully trust him."

Damon rolls his eyes and crosses his arms against his chest, "I'm still waiting for the part where John Gilbert is the answer."

"He knew about the sacrifice, Isobel told him. He said he knew of a way to keep Elena safe." Stefan says.

Damon unfolds his arms and rolls his eyes, "And how do we do that?"

Stefan looks down to the floor and back up at us both, "He's not talking. At least not to me anyway."

Damon rolls his eyes, "Great work Stefan. Top notch. As if I didn't have enough problems."

Damon starts to walk out of Stefan's room, Stefan glances over to me and I smile back over to him.

"Hey, I'm sorry about Rose." Stefan says as he turns to face Damon.

Damon frowns, "Whatever. I knew the woman for five minutes."

I walk towards Damon, "Yeah and you cared about her after five minutes."

Stefan looks at Damon and tilts his head, "Hm, I wonder what that means?"

I turn to face Stefan and glare over at him, "Please don't start Stefan for the love of God!"

Damon turns to face Stefan, "It means I care, Stefan. It means I'm changing, evolving into a man capable of greatness. Better watch your back, because I may just have to go get a hero-hairdo of my own, and steal your thunder." Damon smirks as he walks out of the bedroom.

Stefan phone starts to vibrate, he looks down at the message he just got and then looks back to me with a concerned look on his face.

I frown at his expression, "What?"

"Caroline's has messaged, you coming?" Stefan asks as he puts on his jacket and he starts to walk out the door.

Hm, deal with in denial Damon? Or go for an adventure with Saint Stefan? I've been hanging around Damon for too long, let's see what happens when I go around with Stefan.

I shrug my shoulders and follow Stefan out the door, "Yeah sure why not."

We both arrive and Caroline's. She comes over to the door and let's us both in.

"What's wrong?" Stefan asks as we walk into the house.

"Tyler knows about you two and Damon. He knows that Damon killed Mason." Caroline says trying to stay calm but deep down she is totally freaking out.

I glare over to Caroline, "You have gotta be kidding me!"

Caroline looks over to me scared, she raises her hands in surrender, "I didn't say a word. I swear!"

Me and Stefan both share the same look, it's Jules.

"It's that woman, Jules. She had a run-in with Damon and Lola." Stefan says as he looks over to me and I can't help but smile.

Caroline looks down to the ground, "Tyler was so upset. The look on his face, he was so betrayed."

Stefan sighs, "Wow, this is bad."

Caroline looks between Stefan and I with a worried expression on her face, "You're not gonna tell Damon, are you?"

"No! He already wants to kill him. He thinks all werewolves should die." Stefan says as he has one of his arms behind his neck.

I scoff, "He's right they should die."

"No!" Caroline snaps back.

Stefan looks over to me and sighs, he turns to face Caroline again, "Lola's right, Caroline. I mean, what if Tyler tries to retaliate? He has every right to. He could get himself killed."

Caroline's expression turns serious, "Well, we're not gonna let that happen. We have to get to him and reason with him before he does something stupid. You have to talk to him. Just try to explain, you know? You always know the right things to say, okay? He and I...we're friends."

I smirk and raise my eyebrow looking over to the newbie vamp, "Just friends?"

"Lola please." Caroline says as she looks at me with those big blue puppy dog eyes, god I hate it when people give me that look.

"Ugh fine, you can be good cop, I'll be bad cop." I say pointing over to Stefan.

"This isn't a game Lola!" Stefan snaps at me.

"I never said it was! I'm just discussing tactics. You've never been good at bad cop anyway." I say smirking and make my way over to the door. Stefan follows me shortly after and we head over to the Lockwood's to speak to Tyler.

3RD PERSON POV:

At the Lockwood's, Tyler is on the computer in his dad's office when he senses that Stefan is in the room. Tyler tries to make a run for it out of the door leading into the hallway but Lola appears and is stood smirking as she blocks his way out. Tyler looks back over to Stefan.

Stefan raises his hands up, "I'm not gonna hurt you, I just want to talk."

"Then why did you break in?" Tyler asks full of wolf attitude.

"Would you have let us both in otherwise?" Stefan retorts.

Carol Lockwood's voice comes into play as she gets ready to leave the house, "Tyler?"

Tyler tries to run past Lola, but Lola stops him and pushes him against a wall and her vamp features appear as she smirks. She places a finger on her lips while she still smirks.

"Shh. Not a word." Lola whispers.

"Tyler? I'm leaving for the memorial." Carol shouts, she glances into the study but then leaves.

Lola releases Tyler and he rushes away from Lola.

"We haven't officially met by the way, I'm Lola." Lola says in a sarcastic tone still smirking.

"Yeah I know who you are." Tyler snaps back.

Lola laughs, "Oooo wolf got some attitude."

Stefan glances over to his sister and then looks back over to Tyler, "Maybe we're getting off on the wrong foot, here."

"What happened to Mason?" Tyler asks as he looks between Stefan and Lola.

Lola and Stefan both glance at each other, Stefan then looks down to the ground and sighs.

"Tyler, there's a lot for us to talk about." Stefan says as he looks back up to Tyler.

Tyler tries to leave the room but Stefan grabs him by his shirt.

"I wouldn't do that. Without a full moon, you're no match against us." Stefan snaps.

Tyler pushes Stefan off him and he leans against one of the chairs. Stefan leans against the desk opposite Tyler and Lola is walking around the room being her usual nosey self.

"Look, about Caroline, no matter what her flaws are, when push comes to shove, you're gonna want that girl on your side. She's your friend, stop being a dick to her." Stefan says trying to reason with Tyler.

"I thought vampires hated werewolves." Tyler says.

Lola laughs and looks over her shoulder at Tyler, "Some of us do."

Stefan glares over to Lola and turns back to Tyler, "That's some sort of leftover idea from another time. It doesn't have to be that way anymore. We go to the same school, we have the same friends. we keep the same secrets. This can work, Tyler. I mean, it's your home, it's our home too. I want this to work."

Tyler's phone starts to buzz. Lola turns to face Tyler, Tyler looks over to Lola and then looks at Stefan. He quickly grabs his phone out of his pocket and answers it; it's Jules.

"Help, help!" Tyler shouts down the phone.

Lola vamp speeds over to him and grabs his phone.

"Who's number was that, hm?" Lola asks pissed.

Tyler says nothing, Lola throws the phone across the room smashing it up.

Stefan starts to get frustrated and grabs Tyler by his shirt, "Damn it Tyler! I'm trying to save your life, can't you see that?"

"You want to be friends, great, we're friends. Will you go now?" Tyler says sarcastically as he pulls away from Stefan's grip and takes a seat.

Stefan walks over to the chair opposite Tyler and shrugs his shoulders, "I don't know what else to say to you Tyler. I came back to this town because I wanted a life, I wanted to exist where I could have friends and where I could build a family. I have that here, we can both have that."

Stefan's phone starts to ring; the caller ID shows it's Caroline.

"Hey. Is everything okay?" Stefan asks as he stands up and walks towards his sister.

"That depends. How badly do you want to keep her alive?"

Stefan looks over to his sister confused, "Who is this?"

"Jules." Lola whispers so quietly only her and Stefan can hear.

"Ask your brother and sister. Where's Tyler?"

"Jules? Where's Caroline?" Stefan asks.

"You made a mistake, Stefan. I'm gonna give you a chance to fix it."

"Where is she?" Stefan demands.

"Right here. Want proof?"

In the call, Stefan and Lola can hear Jules open some sort of door.

"He needs proof."

Next thing they can hear is a gun shot and Caroline screaming.

"What's happening?" Tyler asks starting to get concerned.

"Shut up!" Lola shouts at Tyler as she glares over at him.

"Hurt her again and you're dead." Stefan threatens down the phone.

"I hurt her again, and she's dead. Bring Tyler to me, the clearing by Wickery Falls. You have 20 minutes until she dies."

Jules hangs up. Stefan looks over to Lola, "I'll ring Elena and explain. You go get Damon and I'll meet you there."

Lola vamp speeds out of the Lockwood's and makes her way over to the Grill.

Meanwhile at the Grill, Damon is sat by the bar on his own. Jenna walks over to him with a woman.

"So, my friend wants to meet you. Damon Salvatore, this is..." Jenna says as she gestures over to the woman.

Damon turns around to face them both, "I know you. The news lady."

She smiles over at Damon, "Yeah, Andie Star. Nice to meet you. Can I buy you a drink, Damon?"

Damon smiles, "My glass is all full, Andie. Thank you."

Damon walks away from Andie and walks towards Elena who has been listening to the conversation.

Elena scoffs, "You totally blew her off."

"I'm steering clear of all women at the moment." Damon bluntly replies.

Elena glares at Damon, "You didn't have to be rude."

Damon looks over to Elena, "Trust me, it's in the best interest of women everywhere."

Lola rushes into the Grill and heads over to Damon, "Hey, I need to talk to you."

As Lola says that, Elena's phone rings.

"Stefan? What is it?" Elena says down the phone.

Elena looks at Damon concerned and then Damon looks over to his sister confused.

"Yeah, that's what I need to talk to you about. Come on." Lola says and then gestures for Damon and Elena to follow her into the toilets.

Elena explains what Stefan has just said down the phone about Jules taking Caroline. Lola confirms everything she said it true.

"Why am I just finding out about this now?" Damon asks getting annoyed.

"Stefan was worried that you--" Elena says but before she can finish, Damon interrupts her.

"That I'll what? That I'd kill him? Of course, it's what's need to happen." Damon snaps.

"No, Damon, not Tyler. Do whatever you need to do to get Caroline back but just leave Tyler out of it, okay?" Elena demands.

Damon scoffs, "Why? He's a werewolf, he needs to die. I'm willing to kill him, it's win-win." Damon looks over to Lola as he raises his eyebrow, "Why have you suddenly joined the good team?"

Lola laughs, "Please I haven't, just thought I would see what our little brother gets up to while we aren't there."

Damon smirks at his sister's response.

Elena places her hand onto Damon's arm and looks up at him, "Damon please, okay? Too many people are dead."

Damon glares at Elena, "You need to stop doing that."

"Doing what?" Elena asks confused as she removes her hand from his arm.

"Assuming that I'll play the good guy because it's you who's asking." Damon retorts.

Elena sighs, "Be the better man, Damon."

The tension is broke up by Lola laughing as she is leaning against the wall behind Elena. Elena and Damon both look over to Lola and she looks up and smiles.

"Oh don't mind me. Please, continue! We've got all night!" Lola replies sarcastically.

John Gilbert walks into the toilets. Damon turns to look at him and he scoffs, "Do you mind?"

"What's going on?" John asks as he glances between the three of them.

"Nothing." Elena snaps.

"It doesn't look like nothing." John says.

Damon has his back to John, "Well guess what John, trust works both ways." Damon turns to face John and glares at him, "Get out."

Lola laughs, she starts to walk over to John, "Ooooo John Gilbert, finally a face to the name."

John glares at Lola, "You're Lola Salvatore."

"Ding, Ding, Ding! We have a winner." Lola says as she smirks over to John.

Elena sighs, "Look, we don't have time for this. We need to get Caroline back."

Damon glares over to Elena, "You don't need to do anything. I'll take care of it and so will Lola."

Lola rubs her hands together in excitement, "Finally, something interesting." She mumbles to herself.

Damon turns to face John, "First dad duty: ground your daughter. Keep her here."

Damon and Lola both walk out of the toilets and make their way over to Wickery Falls.

Over at Wickery Falls, Jules is stood alone. She is pacing around as she hears a noise coming from the woods.

Jules stares into the woods looking for someone, "I know you're out there."

Stefan walks out of the darkness with Tyler, "Where's Caroline?" Stefan asks.

"Locked up tight." Jules bluntly replies as she has her arms crossed against her chest.

Stefan takes a few steps forward, "Let her go, and I'll release Tyler. It doesn't have to get any messier than it already has. I'm not your enemy, Jules."

"It's a little late to be waving the white flag, don't you think?" Jules snaps back.

Stefan sighs slightly, "You need to leave town. No one else has to get hurt."

"I'm not leaving without Tyler." Jules demands.

Stefan glances over to Tyler and then looks back over to Jules, "Tyler is free to make his own decisions, as soon as you release Caroline."

Lola and Damon arrive, Lola laughs, "Our brother the peacemaker."

"Since Stefan got here before us I'm gonna let him try it his way before I resort to my way, which is a little bloodier. Then I'll let my sister have her way, which I must warn you, it would make my way look like child's play." Damon says smirking as he looks at Jules.

Lola looks over to Jules, she has a great big smug smile on her face, "Surely you have got more sense than that, so give us Caroline."

"Let go of Tyler." Jules snaps.

"Give us Caroline. Without a full moon it's not an even fight and you know it. We will take you." Damon says raising his eyebrows glancing up to the sky and back to Jules.

Jules scoffs, "I'm not so sure about that, tough guy."

Jules whistles, rustling around the Salvatore's is heard. All three look around confused and they see the rest of the wolf pack walking out of their hiding places. They are all holding weapons including, stakes, cross-bows and a flame thrower.

Lola laughs to herself, "Wow, this is so dramatic." She mumbles to herself.

Jules glares over at them, "Let's try this again. Give us Tyler."

Damon looks over to Tyler, "You heard her. Go. Get over there."

Tyler walks over to Jules and stands behind her.

"Which one of you killed Mason?" One of the wolves, Brady, shouts up.

Damon raises his hand slightly and smiles, "Uh, that'd be me."

Brady glares over to Damon and points at him with a wooden stake, "Boys, make sure that one suffers."

Damon, Lola and Stefan all glance between each other.

"We can take them." Damon whispers.

Stefan isn't as convinced, "I don't know about that."

Lola looks over at both her brothers, "Please this is a piece of cake."

Damon smirks over to his sister, "Well then..."

Damon vamp speeds over to Jules, but she jumps onto the top of the RV, she flips off the RV landing behind Damon. Tyler has ran inside the RV.

One of the wolves comes at Stefan with a flame thrower, Stefan vamp speeds behind him and grabs him, he directs the flame thrower towards two other werewolves, burning them.

A werewolf runs up to Lola holding a stake, she smirks over to him and punches her hand into his chest and rips his heart out. Lola looks at the heart in her hands, she shrugs her shoulders and drops it onto the floor.

Another wolf jumps down from the RV aiming for Damon, while the wolf is still in mid air, Damon reaches up and pulls his heart out of his chest.

Stefan snaps the neck of the wolf with the flame thrower, he walks over to a wolf who is aiming a stake shooter towards him. The wolf shoots but Stefan grabs the stake before it hits him, another wolf comes up behind Stefan. Stefan stabs the wolf with the stake and throws him onto the ground.

The same man with the stake shooter turns to face Lola and he shoots towards her. Lola grabs the stake, she throws it up in the air to turn it around and throws it back towards the man; stabbing him in the throat.

Someone comes up behind Stefan and stabs him in the back with a stake. Stefan drops down to the ground in pain.

Lola comes up behind the wolf and pulls his heart out, she smirks as she drops the heart onto the ground, "It's never nice to sneak up behind someone."

Damon is fighting with Brady. Brady aims to stab Damon with a stake, Damon grabs his arm and fights back. Brady goes to pick Damon up but Damon turns around and slams Brady into the ground. Jules comes up behind Damon and shoots him, Damon falls to the ground groaning in pain.

Lola goes over to Stefan to help him up but a wolf catches her off guard and slams her into a tree, grabbing her neck. The wolf stabs Lola in the stomach with a stake, Lola groans through gritted teeth. She looks up at the wolf and she starts to laugh, she head butts the wolf knocking him out. Lola gasps as she pulls the stake out of her stomach.

Tyler opens the cage that Caroline was trapped in, they both walk out. Jules grabs Caroline and pushes her face first against the RV and puts a gun to her back. Caroline looks over to Tyler scared but Tyler just watches what's going on and doesn't do anything.

Brady grabs a stake and is about to kill Damon, but suddenly, all of the werewolves except Tyler begin to scream in pain. They all cover their ears with their hands and fall to their knees.

"What's happening?" Caroline whispers looking over to the wolves groaning in pain.

"What the hell is going on?" Tyler mumbles to himself looking around.

Jonas Martin appears, he's walking with his hands held out while he's casting a spell on the werewolves. Lola walks over to Stefan and helps him up. They walk over to Damon as he gets up.

"Elijah made a promise to Elena. I'm here to see it's upheld. You need to go. Get out of here. Now." Jonas says looking over to the Salvatores.

Caroline joins them and they all leave. Jonas turns to face Tyler.

"When your friends awaken, give them a message: They need to get the hell out of this town." Jonas says as he glares at Tyler, he looks around at the wolves passed out on the floor and he also leaves.

Lola and Damon are back at the Salvatore house. Lola has gone upstairs to change out of her clothes and get into something comfy. Stefan went to take Caroline home and to make sure she is okay. Damon is downstairs having a drink when someone knocks at the door.

Damon opens the door to find John on the front step, he glares at John, "What do you want?"

"We didn't finish our conversation." John says as he takes a couple steps into the house.

"I'll bite." Damon says smirking.

Damon reluctantly allows John into the house.

"I've been thinking. Personal feelings aside Damon, I think you and Stefan will do all you can to protect Elena." John says as he follows Damon walking into the living room.

Damon turns to face John, "I agree with that statement."

"But your sister on the other hand, are you sure you can trust her?" John asks.

Damon walks closer to John and glares at him, "What did you just say about my sister?"

"Well I'm assuming you know about her past with the originals. Are you sure she's not on their side?" John asks with a cocky attitude.

"Who do you think you are accusing my sister of something that isn't true?" Damon snaps.

"Elena might not want to be known as my daughter, but she is and I will do what I can to make sure she is safe. Lets just hope your sister doesn't find herself back in the arms of Klaus." John says as he takes a few steps away from Damon.

Damon turns to face John, "Why are you here John? Besides accusing my sister of things she will never do."

"I come bearing gifts." John says as he grabs a cloth out of his jacket pocket with something inside of it.

He walks over to a table and places the cloth down on it, he opens up the cloth to reveal a silver dagger and a jar full of ash.

As John is showing the dagger, Lola walks in. She looks over to the table where the dagger is and her eyes widen in shock.

"Where the hell did you find that?!" Lola says as she storms towards John.

"What the hell is that?" Damon asks looking between John and Lola confused.

"This is how you kill an Original. In this vial is ash from a white oak tree that dates back to the genesis of the Originals. The dagger must be dipped into the ash, and then plugged into their heart." John explains as he gestures the dagger being dipped into the ash, he then gestures the dagger towards Damon's chest to mimic stabbing him in the heart.

Damon snatches the dagger from John, "How do you know all this, John?"

John smiles, "Isobel. She's very good at finding out things. But, of course, you know that."

"Where is Isobel?" Damon asks.

John glances over to Lola, "Let's just say if she accomplishes what she's attempting, Klaus will never set foot in Mystic Falls." He looks back towards Damon, "Where Elena's concerned, you and I are on the same side."

John then leaves the house.

Lola is staring at the dagger in Damon's hands.

Damon looks over to his sister, "Is it true?"

Lola nods still looking at the dagger, she looks up to Damon, "If it's real then yes it's true."
